For A Round Of Golf

For leisure the game that so many do play
For a round of golf 'tis a beautiful day
By the wide slow flowing river that crawls to the sea
Men and women practice their strokes before their evening tea.

As a boy I believed hobby golfers had easy jobs
And that those who enjoyed golf were well to do snobs
But such antiquated thinking not relevant today
As all kinds of classes the game of golf play.

A beautiful day for a beautiful game
For most hobby golfers with no aspirations to fame
After work they go to the golf course in the evening sun
And play the eighteen holes for the sake of fun.

Of the praises of golf everybody doesn't sing
But for the participants a game without physical contact can be such a fun thing
In the golf course by the river that to the sea crawl
The crack of the iron on the stone hard golf ball.

Golf Tees Lament

Golf tees on my dresser
Golf tees in my bed
Golf tees on my pillows
Where they poke me in my head

Golf tees in my closet
Falling from my shirts and pants
Golf tees along the baseboards
Just like army ants

Golf tees in the carpet
And underneath my feet
Golf tees lined up on the mantle
Oh, they look so neat

Golf tees in my couch
And in my back and thighs
When I sit and watch TV
I feel those little guys

Golf tees in the kitchen
In Jurassic coffee mugs
Sometimes when I pass them
They look like prehistoric bugs.

Golf tees in the bathtub
Like sailors on plastic ships
Golf tee in her make-up
Like little bald q-tips.

Golf tees in the attic
Golf tees in the shed
Golf tees, golf tees everywhere
I wonder where they bred?

Golf tees out the backdoor
Like Hansel-and-Gretel’s trails
Golf tees in the flowerbeds
Among the mulch and snails

Golf tees in my car
And underneath the mats
Golf tees in the backseat
Like little baseball bats

But when I am at the golf course
I ask my partner, like a louse…
“May I borrow some of your tees? ”
I left mine at the house!

To Win Another One

People play games to win, not for fun
Otherwise, it’s meaningless

In competitive games like basketball or golf
To win is the primary purpose
While to have fun or make friends is at most the second
Because people need to win to establish confidence and conquer others

It’s victory that excites us, not failure
It’s victory that makes our names familiar to others, not failure
It’s victory that makes us want to play again
It’s victory that tells us not to give up

Not only the human beings
Animals either fight to win and to kill or to be killed
They have no second chance
They have to fight till death

To win or to lose
Is a choice we are facing everyday
Golf masters are having fun all the time
Because they won many tournaments and they are champions

So let’s win another one
And win them all

Let the man get his money

Throughout all my life, I tried to act smart
And once, I was driving in a golf cart
With a partner who seemed a little retard
Who was always protected by a bodyguard

I was young and bold, he was old and lame
When he lost in golf, he challenged me for another game
A game of poker, baccarat, roulette
With a gun to my head, I couldn’t say net*

I knew the dices were loaded, from the start
It’s not just the money that were at stake
The old dude wanted to steal my soul
I didn’t have right for a single mistake

Despite the odds I won in his game
He was upping the ante, all the same
Blackjack,3 cards and finally – crap
Yet, he failed to catch me in his devilish trap

My guardian angel was too strong for him
It defeated the old piranha
He waived to his goons and uttered the words:
Let the man get his money…

So my game is solid. So that obviously makes me feel confident, that like anybody else in this field, you name them, I feel like I've got the ability to win the golf tournament just as much as they have, and that's the way I'm going to take it.

Choices

One should feel lucky
If one gets choices in the life
It can make one happy
Throughout the life
Choice in love
Friends and relations
Work, career, city and country
Is the dream of every living soul?
Living the life with choice
If one doesn’t get things of choice
One should be contented
With what he gets
Too many cooks spoil the dish
Too many choices
Makes it difficult to choose
One is lucky
If one gets chance to choose
If one’s got a life there is no choice
One has to live the way it comes
Throughout the life
Keep on trying,
For better choices

The Game Of Fame

'GOLF-THE GAME OF FAME'

I was watching this golf tournament through the visitor's window
The opening pairs were standing under a big tree's shadow
I had been waiting here to see
Who shall the winner ultimately be?
My two sons were participating, and were outside
There were competing against each other, side by side
First session ended, and the players are now in the second half
I was watching them through the window, including the club staff
Everyone was trying their very best and hard
Well it's not an easy game, just like playing cards
I saw some players taking a short nap
This was some relief time for them and for I, after a gap
The third session of the game goes worst
Till the end of the game, we didn't knows who will be first
The game has begun to ooze
I was still watching them through the window, "Who is go'na loose? "
My two sons were slowly picking on the game
My thoughts were, "Who will earn the coveted fame? "
Opponent players were also moving off at last
I saw my younger one ‘playing pretty fast'
My elder one was rushing down the lane
Why his game slowing down the lane
The competition has become intense and difficult to bear
So, the victory time is getting close and near
Now the game has become fast enough
Oh! My younger son has now found a fluff
Players have now quickened and have hurried by
They seem to be working fast, as if to fly
At last, someone has to be won
Nobody else, it's my younger son
I was watching this golf tournament through the visitor's window
The opening pairs were standing under a big tree's shadow

Life is maze

Life path is made of a net work;
One makes a choice at each fork.
Forks are frequent; so are choices.
Some are vital, some trivial.

Choices are made impulsively;
Choices are made instantly;
Choices are made by habit,
Experience, knowledge and faith.

Between pain and pleasure,
Between hedonism and virtues
And between power and possession,
Everyone’s life oscillates.

It is nothing but a sea saw.
Not every choice would click,
However best it appeared.
Your progress is not sure.

Life is maze not made by you.
The success and the failure
Are incidental and accidental.
No choice other than making choice.

The Bloke from Mullumbimby

You won’t know this fella, till I get on with me prose.
But I’ll tell ya this my friends, I think he’s one of those.

Now before you howl me down and question my social status.
My job here blokes is to tell a story, not just how johnfarls rates us.

They stuck him in the navy, he used to box for sport.
Adds were placed upon his soles you would see these adds quite often, with the gloves my friends he wasn’t good, he should have stuck to golfin.

Milkin cows he tried, roamin from wide and far, his hands will bear the evidence,5 thirty shows the scar.
He has a friend, and, boy is she a cutie, beats me folks how a bloke like him ends with such a beauty.

So that’s a little yarn about this bloke, and not much have you gleans. His place in life aren’t nothing much, that’s as a bloke I means.

But let me tell just how much he makes the AUSSIE bloke, yeah golf’s the go, he didn’t have a clue, played off 87, his goals were for the dough.

Well Bruce and me were average, Ross was good at golf, THE BLOKE had a problem though, his putting, well, was off.

His wallet bulged with ego and one day he laid the claim, you and Bruce and Ross and me will play the noble game.

Let me dwell upon the rules, sheep stations were the scene. A beer a beer a beer and two bob, you lose, Ok vent your spleen.

The game was in the best of jest, we practiced the art of discourse. But if you lose old friend, two bob thanks and that has got no recourse.

The BLOKE my friends would not lay down his courage was divine, we lived of his wagers, all night we wined and dined.

Somehow Bruce and me felt time was grown’ thin’, lets have a triathlon we suggested, best of three to win.

Really not the Olympics but a contest just the same, the aim was winnen’, two out three the aim.

Darts, Euchre, Golf were the games we competed, glory for the victor let the loser please stay seated.

One last thing about our bloke, it concerns that Euchre game, with one spade he goes alone his partner Ross is shamed.

The BLOKE was hopeless in all these sports but never would he yield, then my friends the town soon found out he had a special field.

One day we all run last you see, and thinking with a smile, the BLOKE writes some prose, recites some stuff and leaves us for a mile.

You see my friends, please forgive my comments oh so rude, RAY you beaut, we re-vere you in gratitude.

We enjoy your yarns, we’re infected, you’re the peoples choice, an Aussie yarn has impetus simply by your voice.

Mullumbimby bred a BLOKE, BUT Bruce and Ross and ME we bred HIM too,

THE MULLUMBIMBY BLOKE is out there folks he belongs to me and you.

Random Foursome

Just a little while ago,
that bald African-American
who's sitting at the window booth,

that young, unshaven fellow
with the earring and the cap,

that silver-haired Caucasian
daydreaming in his polo shirt

and I, were congregated,
quite by chance
around the coke machine.

'How 'bout a game of golf? '
I could have said,
though of course, they would
have thought me mad.

What are the odds the four of us
will ever meet up anywhere again?

Life keeps mixing us around
much more than we realize —
atoms in perpetual flux,
marbles in a divine game.

What You Want

Think once if you want a little bit of fun
Think twice if you think I could be the one
Three times get your game on ready to run
All depends on what you want
I could get you caught up in a spin
Think twice
Is it the real thing you're into
Turn your life back to front
All depends on what you want
Come in baby I'm freezin
Stay a while or just breeze in
Check one one time together
Two for love, real and forever
We're not children anymore no
Can't tell what you're in my life for
Decide before we take the ride
Free fall or a rollercoaster oh oh
Put in a box
Friend or lover or both
Choice A, Choice B Uno, dos
Think once if you want a little bit of fun
Think twice if you think I could be the one
Three times get your game on ready to run
All depends on what you want
I could get you caught up in a spin
Think twice
Is it the real thing you're into
Turn your life back to front
All depends on what you want
Listen up no strings attached dear
Not into pressure, come around here
Let's Play
What do you say
Life's a little game oh oh
And if you want to take it further
Hang out, get a little closer
That's cool, no rules
It's really up to me and you
We'll hang a tag on this
After our first kiss
We can play this any way we want to
Think once if you want a little bit of fun
Think twice if you think I could be the one
Three times get your game on ready to run
All depends on what you want
I could get you caught up in a spin
Think twice
Is it the real thing you're into
Turn your life back to front
All depends on what you want
Let's not take it to heart
If we take

Fishing or Golf, Take your Pick

Do you golf? I've been asked this question a great deal
But I answer with a smile, "Hey, a golf ball won't make a meal."
If you use your driver or iron, whatever your whim
I reply, "I would rather try to teach a worm to swim."
Some argue, you get exercise by walking from hole to hole
You can't do that sitting in a boat holding a pole.
No matter if you golf or fish, both cost a lot of dough
And both result in making your wife a fishing or golf widow.
One can't be sure which sport is really the best
Until you have tried both, passed the inevitable test.
So, if you can worm your way through all this confusion
You might fish around and land a sound conclusion.
This won't decrease your drive nor will you be less on the ball
By weighing the pros and cons for each sport overall.
Golfing has some prestige whereas fishing does not
So pick your choice, determine your own lot.
You can't make a mistake whichever one you choose
Cause after all, what have you got to lose
So my friends, if we don't always agree
Fish around for your solution, it may fit you to a tee.
