All those people whose faces decorate the shopping bags of Barnes and Noble, with a few exceptions, would never get published today.

Shopping Bags

I hate these shopping bags
They weigh my body down
They keep me on the beaten track
They break every bone in my back
To a doctor's note i must defer
My life, I do concur
For what may be must be
And what may not be cannot see
I'll throw away my shopping bags
And see how far you throw me
To Guava, Java, Bali, Mali
To study, to lecture, to teach, to hurt
To suckle the teat of wisdom that does not exist
But whatever the sucklers say
The revolution has begun
It is within our hearts and minds
Because if one human, not a man nor a woman
Can preach like John Paul to mass
Like Darwin to a class
Like Kennedy to a nation
Like King for a tiny piece of salvation
Then we can all dropp our shopping bags

Shopping

Were buying and selling your history
How we go about it is no mystery
We check it with the city, then change the law
Are you looking forward?
Now you want some more
Were s-h-o-pp-i-n-g, were shopping
Its easy when you got all the information
Inside help, no investigation
(no investigation, investigation)
No questions in the house, no give and take
Theres a big bang in the city
Were all on the make
Were s-h-o-pp-i-n-g, were shopping
Were s-h-o-pp-i-n-g, were shopping
Our gain is your loss, thats the price you pay
I heard it in the house of commons: everythings for sale
Were shopping
Were shopping
Were s-h-o-pp-i-n-g, were shopping
Were s-h-o-pp-i-n-g, were shopping
Ah ah ah, ah ah ah, ah ah ah, ah ah
Ah ah ah, ah ah ah, ah ah ah, ah ah
Were s-h-o-pp-i-n-g, were shopping
Were s-h-o-pp-i-n-g, were shopping
(were shopping
Were shopping
Were shopping
Were shopping
Were shopping)

Lack Of Knowledge

For the lack of knowledge my people perish,
And one cuts a tree and decorate it;
But my people want it so.
Oh yes, for the writers of old had falsified the truth and,
Many do run for it like the madness of war on this earth.

Do you know Zeus of Olympics?
Today we have Olympic Games and many are yet to learn.
You've got the machinery and I've got the words so,
Without my words you cannot print out thr books;
So, i don't see why why i should pay you money to be published.

Come to Africa and do see things for yourself,
Come and let us also teach you what are not in your books;
For lack of knowledge my people do perish.
Come and learn from us too,
It is like our lives all day long with all the raw materials;
These are your wants so do pay for them,
Like the sugar needed in tea for one to drink.

Holiday Seasonings

Like a Wind-Up Toy
herky-jerky
lurchy-lurchy
I careen
against the Murky
shopping, shopping
gift-choosing
Auntie present-thinking
what is best
for each and every one;

House to Decorate
Dinner to Make
Relatives to Tolerate
Neighbor's caroling
unsure I am
of what grandma
will say
to embarrass
the boss;

kids' eyes to light
tree to decorate
five pounds to gain.

Snow to shovel
work to be done
(massive amounts)
before collapse
and then on rushing
to New Year's Eve
then the bills
come in January
and I faint.

And they call
it the Holiday season
where we celebrate;
some years better to call it
the Holler Day Season
because that is sometimes
just how it feels
deep into January.

Marty Lowe What Do You Know?

Say hello to Marty Lowe when you see him in Barnes & Noble.
He goes to Barnes and Noble Boynton Beach,
he will draw you a portrait that is really sweet.
He has a white mustache and a beard,
he’ll draw anything normal or weird.
For he’s an artist that draws cartoons,
he draws normal people and some loons.
He’s a New Yorker whatever you say,
even though he lives 1,328 miles away.
That’s a guessestimate, I’m just letting you know,
Marty has been 3 times on The Johny Carson Show,
Along with “Across The Board” 1955,
he drew people on the show “live”.
He drew an abstract of Johny and tracing to boot,
he received a letter from Johny which was a hoot.
He drew cartoons for the Wall Street Journal in Manhattan,
There is so much to do in the Big Apple.
Now Marty is Jewish, but that didn’t stop him,
He was stationed at Hitler’s hometown named Linz.
Luckily he was between wars,
He says he was lucky and so therefore,
If something would of happened to him,
We would not be able to say “Hello, Marty can you draw me slim? ”

Homeless Shelter

shopping carts are being pushed away
blankets are being carried away
sleeping bags are in high demand
tents are hard to fasten to the ground
i like it better by the church
the prayers of all the little ones
surround my head where their little feet were at
on a rug just outside the door
that is where i lay
a homeless
today

The uncommon to be common

There are exceptions to rules.
When exceptions exceeds in use,
Rules relegate to exceptions
And exceptions stay as rules.

The uncommon one frequenting,
The common one is replaced
By the uncommon to be common.
Marriage is soon to be uncommon.

The Evil Eye

People say theres no such thing as voodoo
I dont know why
People say theres no such thing as love
I got a job in s.e. 15
And after tax my wage is 16
July the 17th Ill be 18
I dont think Ill live till 19
People say Im looking so much older than what I am
People laugh at me when I say why
Im being watched
By the evil eye
Working for a man who wears a straw hat and never smiles
And an apron striped and splashed with blood
I stack a pigs head on the shelf
The boss comes along and says move yourself
I cant move Im hypnotized
Staring into a dead pigs eyes
I turn around and all I see is ladies
With shopping bags
Staring at me trying to read my mind
And Im being watched
By the evil eye
And Im being watched
By the evil eye
(walking home - on my own
Standing on the bus stop- crossing the road
Im being followed - cause I can feel
Someones breath on my neck
Someones toe on my heel . . .)
Gotta keep on walking
I cant stop now - Ive come too far
Wait till I get home and lock the door
I got the candles burning low
I got the cramps on the stereo
I got the doll now I can start
With a pin right trough the heart
I got dolls with straw hats
I got ladies with shopping bags
Theyll be sorry they crossed me tonight
Now theyre being watched
By the evil eye
Being watched
By the evil eye

Shopping For Dresses (feat. Loretta Lynn)

Jimmie Dickens, Merle Haggard, R. Q. Jackson
Down through the ages men have died for women
And done so for many times
Each time I loved one, I ve always lost one
Seems the right one is so hard to find.
Shopping for dresses with no one to wear them
One in each color, one in each style.
I ll find a lady someday to wear them,
My shopping will be done for awhile.
I ll bet somewhere s a lady shopping for britches
Comparing the value, appraising each pair.
Maybe someday the Lord will bring us together
And we ll both have a new wardrobe to wear
Shopping for dresses with no one to wear them
One in each color and one in each style.
Maybe someday if I'm lucky
I ll find someone to wear them
And my shopping will be done for awhile.
My shopping will be done for awhile.
I m looking for a lady who ll look good in dresses
She must be red-headed, green eyes and be fair.
I ll make exceptions to all my requirements
As long as she s willing to care.
Chorus:
I just saw a beauty with blue eyes, what a cutie
Bond hair like a halo around her did flow,
But the brunette beside her would be just as lovely
In the dresses I bought long ago.
Chorus:
Now as I sit here dreaming, planning and scheming,
Why should I make standards when everyone knows
As your need ranges, women make changes
And you must accept them or just let them go.
Chorus:

Punching bag..

Have a few friends, is good,
Be attached with our relatives, is the best,
because we can make them,
the punching bags.

quiet punching bags,
listening punching bags,
tolerant punching bags and
comforting punching bags.

They are just a call away,
call them with confidence,
talk to them,
we are happy and no stress.

They are just a call away,
call them with confidence,
share your thoughts,
only to people, trustworthy.

Stay alone not good,
be a punching bag,
to others. Listen to them,
there will no stressed out people,
loose on the roads,
tears in the eyes,
clouds in the brain,
betrayal in the heart,
looking for booze and drugs.

With Anticipation Growing As Those Holidays Approach

Words of clarity.
Deep meaning.
And sincere.

'Look...
You have chosen me,
To be your competitor.
I'm not thinking about your ass! '

And as the season of Fall begins,
With anticipation growing as those holidays approach.
There in our hearts are those tender sentiments.
To be shared and reminisced,
Today and in future seasons.

'Hey, look pal...
Screw you too!
I don't have time for this.
Are you going to use that damn shopping cart or not?
Fool! '

~What did you call me? ~

'I called you a fool, fool! '

And we pray to express out gratitude at Thanksgiving.
We unwrap those saved selected ornaments,
To decorate our homes and the beautiful Christmas Tree!
And we do this with love in out hearts!

'If I had change to give you,
I would have given it to you.
Look...
If you don't stop ringing that bell in my face,
I am going to tell the manager of this store
You are out here creating a disturbance.
Am I making myself clear?
You people always looking for hand outs! '

*What do you mean by 'you' people? *

In Shepherd’s Bush - Hymn to Westfield

In Shepherd’s Bush, I shall not want
For anything to buy,
For Westfield shopping centre, there,
Will all my wants supply.

My spirits are restored again
When I can view the ranks
Of well-stocked, chic designer shops
E’en though I owe the banks.

Yea, though I walk through debt’s dark vale,
As I approach the till,
My credit card will comfort me,
Though I still fear the bill.

For there are tables, furniture
And presents, cushions, throws
To decorate my living room
Until it overflows.

And though the bailiffs some fine day
May try to follow me,
Still, shopping malls, my spending place
Forevermore shalt be.

The Piles Of Folders

today i am bringing another folder
at home
i am supposed to read them
ah, all these lives of people that i do not
personally know, the things that they keep
on doing against each other
these cains and abels
these black sheep and fauns
these sphinx and sea monsters
i will be learning their minds and studying
how to read them
how they speak and how they
justify evil
how they explain like magicians
taking rabbits from black hats
and converting newspaper cuttings
into money bills
it will be fun, i suppose, and i will be spending
more time than watching The Piano
on tv,
i will be lost in these labyrinths of motives
and acts
people kill sometimes for no reason at all
i am taught that
and some people admit what heinous crimes
other people do
for nothing at all
there are subsumed stories
exceptions to the rule of human behaviors
and there will be exceptions to the exceptions too
ah, my mind is strangulated by these criminals
my thoughts becoming too convoluted in
a tunnel of plots
but i will not be dead
neither shall i be intimidated
i will not quit
in fact, i will have my last laugh
giving what is due to the other
clapping for the innocent
giving justice
letting the criminal go on the basis
of reasonable doubts
crying with the widows
and consoling the orphans
talking to God
and making judgments for the poor
and then at night
i sleep without any pillow at all
too tired
i sleep on my hands
on the headboard light
unswitched
off.

Another Girls Name

Go take your bags away
Get out of my home
Get out of my life
I don't want you hanging round
And I don't want you to be my wife
When I go to the cafe
I sit in the seat that faces the mirror
I look at my face today
And I look such a wreck today
I knew you well for five minutes and one day
O-oh no way, Jose
I don't ??? ugly views
And I'm not interested in family muse
And ?? is boring and conversation pours
Even when we're in bed
I wanna rearrange your head
Put down the covers
And get you up against the wall
Shoot good babe
Well I knew you well for five minutes and one day
O-oh no way, Jose
You follow where it's going
Can't you see I was breaking
How'd you know the love making wasn't only faking
You get out of my home
And you get out of my life
You didn't hang around much girl
'Cause now you're someone else's wife
I go to the cafe
And I sit in the seat that faces the mirror
Well I look at my face today
And I look so good today
Well I knew you well for five minutes and one day
O-oh no way, oh no way, oh no way, Jose
You're just another girls names
O-oh you're just another girls name (X3)

Exceptions

If you've been
Used and abused
By some men
In the past -
You tend to think
That all men are bad.

But when you get
Blessed with a
Noble husband
You realise that
There are exceptions
Not all men are demons ;)

Something About Their Jokes Told

Why is it,
That those who once provoked...
Laughter and jokes,
On other folks...
Have become the ones,
Who today appear to fear?

Could it be,
Something they have done to someone...
Has managed to attract serious attention.
And faces of those once cracking with laughs,
Find something about their jokes told...
No longer thought to be as funny.

And today,
Those who they pass to exchange...
With others who gathered to laugh,
Seem to smile as if gasping onto bags...
Of contained laughter.
And appear happy for no apparent reason.

Insinuations

There are many sides to determination.
And many are not too obviously displayed.
Like the ones who are determined by others,
Not to be impressive by appearances alone.

Those determining people like this,
Have no influence...
Are generally mistakened on the basis of their analogies.
Perhaps it is a college degree...
Or the schools such degrees were by some people received.

And there are those who are just determined to succeed.
On their own merit.
With a turning down of requests of assistance...
By those they care not to name drop.

Some people like to be in the company,
Of those they perceive are 'real.
No matter what they've got.
Or titles they may wear.
Eye or skin color or texture of hair.

People like these are not living their lives,
Based upon limitation or those kinds of insecurities.
With the acceptance and the acknowledgement...
A sexual performance got us all here!
With few, if any, exceptions open to debate!

'PLEASE!
Your insinuations are distasteful! '

Nope!
That's not one of the exceptions.

Patience Given

Patience given,
To those dealing with their insecurities...
Have several exceptions!

Patience given to a child,
Learning when and how to use a toilet.
Patience given to a child,
Going to school for the first time.
Patience given to a child,
Learning how to share.
Patience given to a child,
When left with a babysitter.
Patience given to a child,
When learning the difference...
Between telling a lie and being honest.
Patience given to a child,
When being taught to be responsible.

Patience given,
To those dealing with their insecurities...
Have several exceptions!
Extenuating exceptions beyond the call of reason,
Requires one to ignore with an ability...
That preserves a peace of mind one wishes,
To keep and maintain undisturbed...
By those who are,
Disturbed by their expectations to be exceptions...
To the rule.
