The Piles Of Folders
today i am bringing another folder
at home
i am supposed to read them
ah, all these lives of people that i do not
personally know, the things that they keep
on doing against each other
these cains and abels
these black sheep and fauns
these sphinx and sea monsters
i will be learning their minds and studying
how to read them
how they speak and how they
justify evil
how they explain like magicians
taking rabbits from black hats
and converting newspaper cuttings
into money bills
it will be fun, i suppose, and i will be spending
more time than watching The Piano
on tv,
i will be lost in these labyrinths of motives
and acts
people kill sometimes for no reason at all
i am taught that
and some people admit what heinous crimes
other people do
for nothing at all
there are subsumed stories
exceptions to the rule of human behaviors
and there will be exceptions to the exceptions too
ah, my mind is strangulated by these criminals
my thoughts becoming too convoluted in
a tunnel of plots
but i will not be dead
neither shall i be intimidated
i will not quit
in fact, i will have my last laugh
giving what is due to the other
clapping for the innocent
giving justice
letting the criminal go on the basis
of reasonable doubts
crying with the widows
and consoling the orphans
talking to God
and making judgments for the poor
and then at night
i sleep without any pillow at all
too tired
i sleep on my hands
on the headboard light
unswitched
off.

Patience Given
Patience given,
To those dealing with their insecurities...
Have several exceptions!
Patience given to a child,
Learning when and how to use a toilet.
Patience given to a child,
Going to school for the first time.
Patience given to a child,
Learning how to share.
Patience given to a child,
When left with a babysitter.
Patience given to a child,
When learning the difference...
Between telling a lie and being honest.
Patience given to a child,
When being taught to be responsible.
Patience given,
To those dealing with their insecurities...
Have several exceptions!
Extenuating exceptions beyond the call of reason,
Requires one to ignore with an ability...
That preserves a peace of mind one wishes,
To keep and maintain undisturbed...
By those who are,
Disturbed by their expectations to be exceptions...
To the rule.

Insinuations
There are many sides to determination.
And many are not too obviously displayed.
Like the ones who are determined by others,
Not to be impressive by appearances alone.
Those determining people like this,
Have no influence...
Are generally mistakened on the basis of their analogies.
Perhaps it is a college degree...
Or the schools such degrees were by some people received.
And there are those who are just determined to succeed.
On their own merit.
With a turning down of requests of assistance...
By those they care not to name drop.
Some people like to be in the company,
Of those they perceive are 'real.
No matter what they've got.
Or titles they may wear.
Eye or skin color or texture of hair.
People like these are not living their lives,
Based upon limitation or those kinds of insecurities.
With the acceptance and the acknowledgement...
A sexual performance got us all here!
With few, if any, exceptions open to debate!
'PLEASE!
Your insinuations are distasteful! '
Nope!
That's not one of the exceptions.

Not Counting You
When loving turns to parting
Im always the first to leave
Cause when it comes to heartaches
Id rather give than to receive
Ive never cried myself to sleep
Just praying Ill get through
Ive never lost at love not counting you
(chorus)
Not counting you Ive never had a heartache
Not counting you I never have been blue
Theres no exceptions to the rule
Ive never been nobodys fool
Ive never lost at love not counting you
Ive never got down on my knees
And asked the lord above
If he would only bring to me
The one Im dreaming of
Begging to be taken back
And swearing Ill be true
Has never crossed my mind not counting you
*chorus*
Theres no exceptions to the rule
Ive never been nobodys fool
Ive never lost at love not counting you
Theres no exceptions to the rule
Ive never been nobodys fool
Ive never lost at love not counting you
No, Ive never lost at love not counting you

The uncommon to be common
There are exceptions to rules.
When exceptions exceeds in use,
Rules relegate to exceptions
And exceptions stay as rules.
The uncommon one frequenting,
The common one is replaced
By the uncommon to be common.
Marriage is soon to be uncommon.

People Do Change
Oh,
I am in total agreement.
People do change.
And the evidence of that is clear.
I am not one seeking the proof,
Of anyone's awareness.
Or discuss with a stagnant mind,
The benefits of ignorance.
Those positions in my life,
I just do not take.
Oh,
I am in total agreement.
People do change.
And the evidence of that is clear.
However...
I am not one to allow,
Footsteps to walk across my chest...
As I lay down in forgiveness mode,
To show someone how effective my faith can be.
I too have changed.
And will be the first to tell anyone,
How proud I am to recognize it!
But no one gets repeated opportunities with me,
To express how their absence of consciousness...
Affected choices they made.
I look at life like this...
Mistakes made by anyone can be excused,
With the knowledge they will not surface again.
Although I must admit...
I with those who refuse to turn another cheek,
To please the ease of someone's apology given!
If someone's is doing something,
At the expense of someone else's integrity...
And emotions spent in the healing process.
That person knows exactly what time it is!
And should not expect a cleaned slate.
But then again,
I have made some outrageous statements...
Directed to hurt some reputations.
And I knew this was wrong.
And yet,
To this day I do not regret what I did one bit!
Some folks change and it benefits their lives.
There are exceptions to every rule.
Hey,
What can I say?
I guess I am one of those exceptions.
And I aint mad at nobody!

What Will I Teach For A Start
this semester is about to begin
another set of faces meet me in this
closed classroom, these students who swear
they want to be good lawyers
ambitious minds
their tongues in cheek
their mouths pocketing some
ancient motives
how to get rich quickly with the law on their fingertips
how to move ahead and pin the rest at dead-end streets
of their finicky, cunning, twist and turns of logic and
fraudulent flings
at their age of suspicion
they look at me with a scrutiny
this demi-god must teach
where the pot of gold lies where the rainbow ends
the map must be laid
the details verified correctly on the spot
the rules and exceptions
the exceptions to the exceptions
the laws of property and family relations
there is no law about who gets hurt
or who gets killed in the process
there is only the law of winning
the code of the loser is simply not found here
today, as an introduction
i will lay them the true cards of the study
for a start
everything starts with the rule on compassion
the code of humanity
the true law is love, and mercy and verisimilitude
the palimpsest shall be presented
i draw the shape of their hearts drenched with blood
they also must learn the value of hope
the art of patience
the devotion to the law
and fidelity to the truth
there shall be no disgust
no schemes to defeat the other by guile and ruses
i will teach love
and they may laugh for a while
afterwhich they can search some more
and be fragile like this white chalk
crumpling to the solid blackboard
questing for correct answers
this legal truth
from moral ones torn apart
in a wide chasm
by all means they can justify as the days go by
why they must love the law why they must be human too

People Who Read People Magazin
(Kinky Friedman)
Well, I'm here to say I got turned away from Studio 54
Back to neon lights and lonely nights and saw-dust on the floor
And if she ever loved me, she don't love me anymore,
And if anyone should ask me, here's who I'm singing for:
For the people who read People Magazine,
For the soap opera lovers, for the home-town bowling team,
For everybody everywhere who's ever lost a dream,
For the people who read people who read People Magazine.
Now if you're too New York for Texas, too Texas for L.A.
You been chasing trends like rainbow ends but you're always just a song away
And if the White House wouldn't have ya, play in every little honky-tonk and bar
The good Lord made the Heavens, ah but He never made a star.
No, its the people who read People Magazine,
It's the soap opera lovers, its the home-town bowling team,
It's everybody everywhere who's ever lost a dream,
For the people who read people who read People Magazine.
And to tell you the truth this telephone booth gets lonesome in the rain,
But son, I'm 21 in Nashville and I'm 43 in Maine.
And when your mama gets home, would you tell her I phoned, it'd take a life-time to explain
That I'm a country-picker with a bumper-sticker that says: ?God Bless John Wayne?.
And bless the people who read People Magazine,
Bless the soap opera lovers, bless the home-town bowling team,
Bless everybody everywhere who's ever lost a dream,
For the people who read people who read People Magazine.
Bless the people who read people who read People Magazine.

Like The Weeds Of The Garden
Like the weeds of the garden that stifle every flower
That is what they are those who abuse their power
In their dealings with others they need to be in control
That's what happens when darkness blocks light from the soul,
Much does seem to need more or so it is said
Suppose this is what happens when power goes to one's head,
Of crimes against humanity we often hear of and read
'Tis from abuse of power that to such crimes does lead
Many abuse their power through the medium of fear
Of such people we often do read of and hear
Those who use their power in a positive way are worth talking about
But those who trash talk and demean people the Human World can do without
Since they do not believe on a fair go for all
Such people in their ways are so very small.

I'm Tired
I'm tired of people messing with me
I'm tired of people treating me wrong
I'm tired of people saying I stank
I'm tired of people remembering the past
I'm tired of black people
I'm tired of stupid people
I'm tired of selfish people
I'm tired of being the target all the time
I'm tired of feeling sad
I'm tired of people thinking there better than everybody else
I'm tired of people not appreciating me
I'm tired of being tired
I'm tired of being tired
I'm just tired

Tomorrow People
A time warp scene
A cy-fi story
A dirt coloured love
Hey hope for glory
I like to fight,
I kill global oppression
If I quit, no hope of redemption
Blue eyes crying in the rain
For how long
Tomorrow people
I laugh tomorrow gone
For how long
Tomorrow people
Tomorrow people
Well you know Im free on arrival
Left behind my babe, by guilt of survival
I dont know where Im runnin to
I lost my love, lost my hold,
I lost my heaven too
Blue eyes crying in the rain
For how long
Tomorrow people
I laugh tomorrow gone
For how long
Tomorrow people
Blue eyes crying in the rain
For how long
Tomorrow people
I laugh tomorrow gone
For how long, soon come
Tomorrow people
Tomorrow people
Yah come on loud
Now my life is truly misspent
I said
Im here to tell you, to tell you
That I wont repent
World war iii
Death pain
Its fate lets do it again
Tomorrow man
Tomorrow people
Tomorrow man
Tomorrow people
Tomorrow man
A time warp scene
A ci-fy story (tomorrow people)
A dirt coloured sky (tomorrow people)
New hope for glory
I like to fight
I kill global oppression
(tomorrow people)
When I quit, new hope for redemption
(tomorrow people)
Blue eyes crying in the rain
Tomorrow people
I laugh tomorrow gone
Tomorrow people
Tomorrow people
Tomorrow people
Tomorrow people

The Show
i have seen this
dalmatian, dancing, and
taking rightly all the cues of
his master.
he adds three plus three
equals six. Six barks.
and his tails waggle
for the correct answer.
the people get excited
watching the dalmatian,
trying to speak the language
of numbers and a human
display of his emotions.
at the park a woman kisses
a man. Lips to lips. The man's
hands holding her butt.
The hard bone protrudes.
The palms are wet.
the dalmatian stops his acts.
and people too stop watching him.
they are watching the real show.
Kiss.Lips to lips. Hands and hearts
Bold at the park. The grasses
are clapping their hands. And the
clouds laugh and do not leave. The sun
pockets a smile. Thumbs up
The trees signal.

Lost In A Lost World
I woke today, I was crying
Lost in a lost world
So many people are dying
Lost in a lost world
Some of them are living an illusion
Bounded by the darkness of their minds
In their eyes its nation, against nation, against nation
With racial pride
Sounds...
Thinking only of themselves
They shun the light
(shun the light)
They think theyre right
(think theyre right)
Living in their empty shells
Oh, can you see their bodies thrashing
(so many people, so many people)
Crashing down around their feet
Angry people in the street
Telling them theyve had their fill
Of politics, people who kill
Grow... the seed of evolution
(so many people, so many people)
Revolution everyone
Its just another form of gun
To do again what they have done
Let all our brothers come and get some
(so many people, so many people)
Everywhere you go you see them searching
Everywhere you turn you feel the pain
Everyone is looking for the answers
Well look again, come on my friend
Love will find us in the end
Come on my friend
(on my friend)
Weve got to bend
(got to bend)
Down on our knees and say a prayer
Oh, can you see the world is pining
(so many people, so many people)
Pining for someone who really cares enough to share his love
With all of us so we can be
An ever loving family
Have we forgotten who loves who
(so many people, so many people)
Children from a family tree
Thats longer than a centipede
Started long ago when you and i
Where only love....
(so many people, so many people)
I woke today, I was crying
Lost in a lost world
So many people are dying
Lost in a lost world
So many people, so many people
People lost in a lost world
So many people, so many people
People lost in a lost world

Two Different People
Two different people
Black people, white people
Black world, White world
A black person thinks different from the white people
White people thinks highly of himself
White people works very hard for his living
Black's are lazy
They don't want to work, they just want the money
You have to work for the money, they just don't get it
White people knows that there are no free ride in life
Black's want a free ride, there are no free ride in life
Nothing is free in life except for the air that you breathe
The white people have to be careful of what they say to the black People
Whatever you say to the black people if they don't like it they will say it Is discrimination
We can't understand them
They have a mind of their own
The white people are loving and caring
What about the black people?
Not a hope in hell
I don't want any part of the black world
The black world is not safe for me
So I rather stay in my white world where I feel safe
We can't trust them
The reason why there is violence in this world is because the black People cause it
Now they don't like it because they have to live with it
We want a safe world for our people
The black people don't care about it because the only thing they know And seen is violence
There is too much violence on TV
They like it
They like the feeling of danger
We white don't like the feeling of danger
The blacks hate the white people and the white people don't like them Either
The white people knows when to shut up
The black people never knows when to shut up
There is why there are always problem with them
They make life miserable for us
The white people will always be a good friend
The black people can never be your friend
They will take everything they can get from you for free

Inaction
we are watching
few parent paying donation to get their
children admitted in reputed school and collages,
while some other spending money
for extra classes for high marks for their children.
same people giving bribe to get their son selected for high post
lot of money spend on their future
to recover this they will demand bribe.
crowed is gather in around injured person.
rule and regulation are violated and amended
for the selected few people.
certain people not reporting on duty in time.
few people not working just sitting idle.
majority of people buying, but without bill.
We are living in 21 century
We know this wrong, but we will not act.

Desperate Remedies
Seek the perfect race your knowledge you provide
Is this a worthwhile cause or just genocide?
Torment and despair alone and cast aside
No sympathetic ears to hear their cries
No justice in their world
Competence is no excuse for ignorance
Blameless yet their death has no significance
Sorrow and emotion are a consequence
Their eyes forever closed and you ask why
No justice in their world
Taking liberties with other people's lives
Testing theories to their demise
Could this be--desperate remedies
Fundamental thoughts you try to satisfy
The exception proves the rule and that you verify
This work in time of peace you cannot justify
The only words you ever speak are lives
No justice in their world
Taking liberties with other people's lives
Testing theories to their demise
Could this be--desperate remedies

People Who Are Set In Their Ways
It is too late,
To re-program a people taught
They are entitled,
To disrespect without giving it a thought.
Or,
Show a remorse of any kind.
People who are set in their ways,
And in this state of mind
Prey to leech.
And are not the kind,
To admit their wrongs.
Since there are none they can find.
People set in their ways,
And in this state of mind
Will not be the ones confined,
Spending their time
Delivering to the neighborhood children,
Freshly baked homemade cookies.
