Cow Catchers

Those days there were cow-catchers
at all serious gateways
like St.Peter’s
which made your teeth clatter
and collected water.

They were implicated in the murder
of one Moreas,
a Matador from Moraco
who had large conspicuous gap
between his bunny-like incisors. (Upper jaw) .

It was said the murder indeed took place
because the cow-catchers thought his teeth
mocked them when the paparazzi
reported a mosquito with dry wings
couldn’t find the way in.

Shelter From The Rain

Today I’m in the country on one of my walks
the clouds are gathering whilst the thunder talks.
I had better seek shelter from the incoming storm,
that barn looks okay although battered and worn.

Made it inside thankfully just in the nick of time
I’m a little bit wet, but never mind.
It’s now pouring down and difficult to see.
Oh my God! What’s that standing next to me.

“Hello there mister may I share your shelter?
I’ve been spinning around like a helter-skelter.”
“You startled me; I’ve never seen your kind before.”
“I know, I am sorry, I’ll be gone soon for sure.”

“There is no urgency, but how did you get here?
You can stop trembling you’ve nothing to fear.”
“I came in with the thunder and the pouring rain
and with luck that’s how I’ll be going out again.”

“So you slipped out of your world and into mine? ”
“Yes, to escape the Catchers and their evil kind.
The Catchers have been our murderous enemy
since the beginning of time and living memory.

They killed my father, mother, sister and brother,
and they won’t rest until they have killed one other.
I should be quite safe here whilst it’s damp and wet,
but when it ceases they’ll hunt me down without regret.

Don’t be frightened you’re not in danger while I’m here
there’s no need to be nervous or full of fear.
The Catchers won’t make their play in front of you
the sacred law’s of our land forbids them to.

It looks as though the rain is beginning to cease
I’d better get ready to go and give you some peace.
It’s the lightening that bring the Catchers to Earth
they consider their visit here as a time of rebirth.

Oh good I’m safe for a while it’s raining hard again,
but I don’t know where to go next for the pouring rain.
Perhaps it would be better for all if I let them catch me
then at least I would find peace and they would be happy.

Did you see that bolt of lightening strike near by?
It’s getting near to the time for me to say goodbye.
Can you smell that stench? The Catchers are in the air
with their piercing red eyes they’re searching everywhere.”

“I feel that I should try and do something to help you somehow.”
“I’m sorry that is forbidden and something I cannot allow,
even if you tried and failed to help me escape my situation
they would remove your tongue and eyes without hesitation.

If on this occasion they have sent three Catchers or more
the odds on me surviving are at most very poor.
Goodbye human I had better go before the end of the storm.”
“Well, goodbye to you and I wish you well, brave unicorn.”

Loyalty and honesty

A wife is overlooked by her husband
For her total loyalty towards him.
A maid is overlooked by her lady
For her total honesty in her deeds.

The Often Overlooked

Bypassed with little thought
Barely given a mention
Those people in daily life
Overlooked by one and all
They may be as kind and loving
As any other in matter of fact
But that remains an unknown
They are acknowledged at times
But all too often left unconsidered
A name, a face and little else
On the fringe of the social circle
Used a filler when the need arises
Still they remain background characters
Overlooked by the leading cast
There only to make up the numbers
Never considered as anything more
To have played both roles in life
Being guilty with the bypassed thought
And left in the background scene
Is to know the honest plight
Of the often overlooked

The matter of a thing

You are a spiritual thing,
You are a living thing,
You are a breathing thing,
You are a amazing thing,
You are a vivacious thing,
and you can arise above anything,
because you were created by the King of Kings,
to do wonderful and kingly things.
Therefore each day, as you look into
the mirror, allow your eyes to behold you.
Also be ever mindful, and make a mental note of
the true, authentic you.
The matter of a great thing.

Maybe I'll Just Sleep

Maybe I'll just sleep.

Maybe I'll just sleep, because
It's a great thing to do when you're tired.

It's also a great thing to do when you have nothing
Else to do.

It's also a great thing to do when all of your friends
Are out socializing and seeing movies and
Drinking
Which, even if I don't partake, would be fun to watch
And playing in a band
Which
You really want to do but have no
Creative output or
Instrument in reach or
People to play with or
Motivation,
And eating food at wonderful restaurants and walking
Under the stars and saying goodnight to their
Significant others, which
You lack but you don't mind lacking,
Things like that.

It's also a great thing to do when all of your friends
Are skating on crystals and ice or
swimming in everclear waters or
dancing with the girl in the shriveled green dress or
taking themselves apart

piece by
piece.

Maybe I'll just sleep.
Maybe I'll just sleep.
Maybe I'll just sleep.
Maybe I'll just sleep.

The lord of Catchers-Can

In the isles of a gutter
in the dim-lit graveyard of a church
a man must walk forever
with a beggars bowl in hand
and succumb to all the weather
a man can understand.

(The lord of Catchers-Can
Is both a shepherd and a man
from a palm of dust he fathers the waters of the land.
And hails the wheat and barley to fall or stand…)

Into these storm drains of heaven
a dream was washed away
like the rains of yesterday.
A holy man sojourning for a little while came
and then was gone!
Where no earthly vanities belong…
And blessed us in one name!
In the light of the eternal flame!
All sinners the same!

(The lord of Catchers-Can
Is both a shepherd and a man
from a palm of dust he fathers the waters of the land.
And hails the wheat and barley to fall or stand…)

It’s here I’ve heard it said
We pay for the eyes of the dead
In the living hearts and souls left
To do our living, to do our living when were dead!
So take my hand,
And-let-us-all-understand,
The ways of the lord are yours and mine to command,
For every child, women or a man!

The lord of Catchers-Can
Is both a shepherd and a man
from a palm of dust he fathers the waters of the land.
And hails the wheat and barley to fall and stand…)

In the spirit of Rumi - 50 - One Thing

Oh the pleasure, the happiness,
the delight, the joy, the bliss,
of doing just one thing above all!

When I was a child, I did many things;
that’s right for children – there’s the world,
go play in it; ask, what’s a horizon? but what
lies beyond? and why can’t I see angels
if angels can see me? …

When I was a young man, I did many things;
that’s right for young men – which one will I love?
which one will love me? And when we’ve together found our love,
oh what then? and oh what then?

But now I’m older, there seems less time
for many things; they will look after themselves
without my help… so, what delight
to give oneself to just one thing…
one thing at a time; and then
one thing…

and it seems, it doesn’t matter what;
roses need an expert to collaborate
in dreaming up new beauty from an older stock;
dogs need exercise, and a two-legs to look up to;
grandchildren are born to love grandparents
in a special way..

and, duties done, and hearts served well,
one thing…it might be poetry,
in which to say, look, all this
I’ve received: here’s recognition,
acknowledgement, and gratitude…

and the other things, like sleeping, eating,
become day by day like living in someone else’s poem;
someone else committed to one thing…

and then one day, perhaps,
life’s curtain twitches; and some great being
looks in the window, the very moment you look out;
and ‘one thing’, in the most natural way,
becomes…

Cutting Their Own Throats

They are cutting their own throats.

'Aren't you being a bit dramatic?
Just because people happen to say,
A few things you dislike.
And their opinions seem to swing,
From the left to the right...
Does not mean that is what they are doing!
Or they want to seperate politically,
And do their own thing.
Which is basically the same thing,
The others are doing...
But more fanatically.
Besides...
People are expressing their disappointment.
Even if half of what has happened,
They have done to themselves.
They have literally created their own problems.'

Come here...
Take a look.

'Oh my!
I thought you meant that metaphorically? '

Meta 'who-ically'?
I don't know what 'that' means!
All I know is what I see.
And...
They are cutting their own throats.
I would not believe it myself,
If I had not witnessed it.

'Yeah...
They are!
For real...
They are!
Wow.
Geeessshhh!
Talk about taking something to the extreme.'
