We ought to be beating our chests every day. We ought to look in the mirror, stick out our chests, suck in our bellies, and say, 'Damn, we're Americans,' and smile.

The Thief of Honor

The Thief of Honor

The Phony Hero, the fake marine
with their stolen valor, bemedalled chests.
These are the lowest of the low
Who steal the honors of our best.

Those who never took the field
Never came face to face with death.
Presume to wear the highest honors
And campaign ribbons on their chests.

True heroes lie in Arlington,
Or in a hundred foreign fields
Or else live quiet private lives’
And never boast about their deeds.

The thieves of honor think to gain
high office from their pilfery.
But they will only garner shame
Once we expose their perfidy.

Underwhelmed

Underwhelmed,
And removing the wind...
Huffed up by puffed chests.
Those excited by conflict...
Find themselves looking quite perplexed.
They had prepared to go into battle,
With one who bragged but lacked experience.
And when the fight began...
Scriptures were recited.
People were invited to sing hymns.
What kind of struggle is this,
With no weapons used to defend?

Underwhelmed,
And removing the wind...
Huffed up by puffed chests.
Nothing like this has ever happened before!
Who wins with no weapons used or shown?
And with no bodies to count or collect...
What victory is this?
With no killing done for peace.
Or the gushing of blood to bleed and reflect!

A Chase

At one hot noon, in the month of Ramadan,
A huge crowd of men and women,
Young and old, in crude dresses,
Looked to the same direction
With fretful faces and grim eyes.
All of sudden they began to run,
As if they were partaking Marathon Race.
Then they stopped out of breath,
Their chests were heaving,
A pause ensued and again they began to run,
They stopped again out of breath
With heaving chests,
And drops of sweat dropping down.

As my van overtook the crowed I beheld,
They were the denizens of my country,
The voters of my dear land,
Being gamed in the hands of politicians,
They held red currency notes,
And chased a truck of flour.

Libertad! Igualdad! Fraternidad!

You sullen pig of a man
you force me into the mud
with your stinking ash-cart!

Brother!
-if we were rich
we'd stick our chests out
and hold our heads high!

It is dreams that have destroyed us.

There is no more pride
in horses or in rein holding.
We sit hunched together brooding
our fate.

Well-
all things turn bitter in the end
whether you choose the right or
the left way
and-
dreams are not a bad thing.

Longing For The 'Mother'!

humanity's problems with distance and seperation,
are to a large degree due to the shift in ancient
times from a matriarchal society, to a patriarchal
society...
in doing so we lost the intimate connection between
the child and the mother... the senses of gentleness,
tenderness, sensuality, and awe... we lost the sense
of home....
as a patriarchal society, we react to feelings we cant
control by declaring war, by invading, by conquering.
our built in insecurities cause us to take, to violently
take, and yet to never be filled.
our god becomes as violent, and judgemental, as our
own images....
we search for wisdom in building, acquiring, all the while
pounding our chests... but our chests are empty!
the longing and the lostness we feel is for the 'mother'...
the god that has intimate conversations with trees is lost!
the god that is wind is feared...
and so we fear death!

She's Not My Girlfriend

Her heart is in my hand
It shivers like a toad
She tries to understand the
Tiny lump that's down inside her throat
It goes
Suck suck
Suck suck
Suck suck
Her head is in my lap
It twists and coughs and sings
Her hair is in my grasp
It hangs and swings like swollen strings
It goes
Suck suck
Suck suck
Suck suck
Her face is inside out
An open book report
I read what she's about
And she's filled with words that hurt
It goes
Suck suck
Suck suck
Suck suck
Sometimes I want her in
Sometimes I want her out
My perception of sin
Is filled with pain and fear and doubt
She she she she, she isn't my girlfriend
No no, I'm not who you think I am
She she, she isn't my girlfriend
No no, I'm not who you think I am
Her clothes are on the ground
A crumpled rainbow mass
She's scattered all around
And she's scattered now like broken glass
It goes
Suck suck
Suck suck
Suck suck
Sometimes I want her in
Sometimes I want her out
My perception of sin
Is filled with pain and fear and doubt
She she she she, she isn't my girlfriend
No no, I'm not who you think I am
She she, she isn't my girlfriend
No no, I'm not who you think I am
She she, she isn't my girlfriend

A Coin Of Little Worth

I have seen and liked
silver coins stamped
in ancient Greece Rome

these usually carry the image
of supposedly great men
kings emperors face in profile

but their deeds were often
treacherous harsh cruel
wars these started for more
wealth slaves land to rule

my favourite coin
is a very small coin
tiny of little worth

that a woman with nothing
once gave at the temple
a very very long time ago

My Lord praised her
for giving all her livelihood
for giving more than

all gathered rich worshippers
combined because
proud rich gave a percentage

from all their amassed profit
a percentage calculated
based upon requirements of

law; but a poor woman gave
everything she had
based upon her own giving heart

it is written how Jesus sat down;
with the treasury chests in view
observing how the crowd dropped

money into the treasury chests;

many rich people were dropping in
many coins however a poor
widow woman dropped in only two

small coins which had very little value;

these coins became known as the widow's mite.

Jesus called his disciples and said to them

"Truly I say to YOU that this poor widow
dropped in more than all those dropping
money into the treasury chests; for they

all dropped in out of their surplus,
but she dropped in all of what
she had, her whole living." Mark 12: 41-44.

For the love of God.

Oh Mirror

Mirror, mirror,
On the wall
Who's the THINNIST
One of all

Oh reflection,
I know its not me
I'm just too FAT

AND UGLY

Mirror, mirror,
On the wall
Who's the SKINNIEST
One of all

Oh reflection,
Stand up straight
Suck in your GUT
Then I may not hate

Mirror, mirror,
Clear and bright
Please don't WATCH
As I starve tonight

Oh reflection,
I'm stuck in this body
With food to fear
And you to HATE

Mirror, mirror,
Broken and shattered
Don't stare at ME
With this body battered.

Impotent Men!

impotent men...
their hands on the reins,
choking on the flesh

of the poor and subjugated.
while birds of prey circle,
bodies strewn on the streets;

another martini, stocks rise and fall!
the pipeline pulses, liquid death,
the eyes of the children

gone to marbles in the dust.
the prophets of profit
tilt their hats and turn away,

leaving the stench of their greed
on unmarked shallow graves.
their god is dead, the world keeps turning,

while the weak and the fallen
kneel in unholy prayer!
impotent men, beating their chests!

Head For The Barricade

FIGHT, FIGHT
FIGHT, FIGHT
FIGHT, FIGHT
FIGHT, FIGHT
Sometimes you gotta fight for your right
When your not sure you're in a fight for your life right?
If you ain't packin any tactics
You might get ass kicked
Even if you are you little knucklehead
I'm kinda sick of being aggravated
I'm glad I'm hated
I guess I'm doing something right
But that's what happened back in Columbine
You gotta know when to stop
And not go over the top
Cause there's a chamber deep inside the brain
It's covered with chains
So don't be shaking them loose
And if you do I'll be running for the hills
Cause I'm ready to rock and now we're playing for real
I gotta
FIGHT FIGHT
You better watch out when my adrenaline kicks I gotta
FIGHT FIGHT
IT'S TOO LATE, YOU ALREADY BEEN HIT, DAMN!
STICK 'EM STICK 'EM
STICK 'EM HA HAHA STICK 'EM
STICK 'EM STICK 'EM
YEAH! (Head for the barricades)
STICK 'EM STICK 'EM
STICK 'EM HA HAHA STICK 'EM
STICK 'EM STICK 'EM
YEAH! (Head for the barricades)
This world can make you stick to your stomach so I
Put on my headphones, listen to the Deftones
It's getting crowded in my spaceship
Living in a dream
Running from the hate machine
You know it's,
Such a drag when there's people talking down to ya
Such a drag when everything sucks do ya,
Walk away with spit on your face or do ya,
Draw lines and give them a taste cause I,
Know it's never gonna end
If it happens again I'm going straight for the throat
Another note
Don't forget you had a chance
Now I'm over the sidelines and ready to dance
I gotta
FIGHT FIGHT
You better watch out when my adrenaline kicks I gotta
FIGHT FIGHT
IT'S TOO LATE, YOU ALREADY BEEN HIT, DAMN!
STICK 'EM STICK 'EM
STICK 'EM HA HAHA STICK 'EM
STICK 'EM STICK 'EM
YEAH! (Head for the barricade)
STICK 'EM STICK 'EM
STICK 'EM HA HAHA STICK 'EM
STICK 'EM STICK 'EM
YEAH! (Head for the barricade)
IF YOU GOT THE GUTS (Head for the barricade)
Then come on down (Head for the barricade)
IF YOU GOT THE GUTS (Head for the barricade)
Then come on down (Head for the barricade)
AND HEAD FOR THE BARRICADE
FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT
GET UP GET UP
FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT
GET UP GET UP
FIGHT
HEAD FOR THE BARRICADE
I ain't playin around
HEAD FOR THE BARRICADE
I ain't playin around
HEAD FOR THE BARRICADE
STICK 'EM STICK 'EM
STICK 'EM HA HAHA STICK 'EM
STICK 'EM STICK 'EM

Do Not Look At The Mirror

Do not look at the mirror;
there is nothing
but a beauty;
the flowers are important than the vase.

Do look at the mirror
if you are not aiming to
to check on your smile
and to kiss your inner and outer face.

Do look at the mirror
but ask me
I will tell you
what I am seeing and
what I am hearing;
My clairvoyance shows only but your grace.

Do look at the mirror
one smile is enough;
it is your mirror and your face.

By The Old Pagoda Anchorage [1926]

By the old Pagoda Anchorage they lay full fifteen strong,
And their spars were like a forest, and their names were like a song,

Fiery Cross
and
Falcon
there
Lay with
Spindrift
, doomed and fair,
And
Sir Lancelot
of a hundred famous fights with wind and wave:

Belted Will
and
Hallowe'en

With
Leander
there were seen,
And
Ariel
and
Titania
and
Robin Hood
the brave:

Thyatira
of the lovely name and proud
Thermopylae
,
By the old Pagoda Anchorage when clippers sailed the sea,
Racing home to London River -
Carry on for London River -
Crack her on for London River with her chests of China tea!

By the old Pagoda Anchorage (it's many a year ago!)
A sight it was to see them with their decks like drifted snow,
And their brasses winking bright,
And the gleaming gold and white
Of the carven kings and maidens on each slim and soaring bow,
And the high and slender spars
Humming shanties to the stars,
And the hulls whose speed and staunchness are a dead man's secret now -
The ships so brave and beautiful that never more shall be,
By the old Pagoda Anchorage when clippers sailed the sea,
Racing home to London River -
Crack her on for London River -
Carry on for London River with her chests of China tea!

By the old Pagoda Anchorage the clippers lie no more,
There is silence on the river, there is quiet on the shore,
And the silted channels seem
Still to murmur as in dream
Of the tea ships in their glory, lifting sea-ward on the tide,
All the strong and fair and fleet,
By those shores that used to meet,
And the valiant master mariners that walked their decks in pride,
By the old Pagoda Anchorage when clippers sailed the sea,
Logging fourteen on a bowline, ay, and seventeen running free,
Racing home for London River -
Crack her on for London River -
Carry on for London River with her chests of China tea!

Contrast

Don't know…
Where to look

The beautiful
Trees…
Covered with
Fruits, flowers
And leaves…
Fully clothed.

Or the men and
Women…
Strutting out
Their stuff
In blobs of
Flesh…
Sparsely attired,
Semi-naked.

I would prefer
The former to
The latter, but
I have no choice.
Do I?

It amazes me
To see this
Paradox of
Existence!

My views
Of nature's
Picturesque
Spring-summer
Bloss oms…
Being ceaselessly
Blighted by
Unsightly bodies
That leave me
Distracted…
With their
Lewd images of
Voyeuristic vulgarity.

Cleavages, butts, bellies
And thighs, walking on
Micro-mini, long legs…
Vying for the attention of
Matted chests and arm-pits
With pumped up triceps…
Shirtless bodies, aplenty
On show, I don't know
Where to go...to view
Nature's pristine greens,
Unadulterated.

In this sea of semi-nude
Dregs, for some decency,
My vision begs…

My Fish Family

Theres a man on the front porch
Says hes related to me
But lately Im finding
It hard to believe
This house is filled with
Spooks and ghosts
They say theyre family
But they are strangers at most
Theyre strange fishes of the deep blue sea
And absolutely nothing like me
They swim around their little treasure chests
When it comes to loving me they give it their fish best
But its hard with all those scales
Of good and bad you see (2nd time: of morality)
Theyre my fish family
My fish family
They may try and hook me
Or put me in a tank
They may try and book me
For robbing a fish bank
cause misunderstanding comes easily
But theyre blowing bubbles
And I can hardly breathe
And when will they understand
I just wanna marry a man
Without seaweed in his teeth,
Without barnacle for hair
Without seaweed in his ears
But their fish ears wont hear me
Theyre my fish family
Theyre strange fishes of the deep blue sea
And absolutely nothing like me
They swim around their little treasure chests
When it comes to loving me they give it their fish best
But its hard with all those scales of morality
Theyre my fish family
My fish family.

The Mirror Struggled

The mirror struggled; reflecting beauty such as hers
Prescribed a glory in the challenge – a fairytale
Or such as like! To shimmer back hypnotic hues
From auras of her skin – how do mirrors cope?
Hoary tales of pretty adolescent buds
Could never hope to match the tomes of dreamy
Pulchritude apprising us of such a belle as she.

The mirror shone; and as it worked itself, a moment –
Did it overlook the hidden melancholy?
Were melting eyes bedewed–? Florid lips imbued
With mournfulness? The hindrance of the silver glass!
Oh! to seek – to know the meaning of the sorrow!
She (with tearful hair, an image out of heaven)
Never opened up her heart. The mirror struggled.
