For example, it's only about 20 years ago the people in that community would have got telephone lines, and it would be only about in the 1950s that electricity came to that part of the world. Television wouldn't have come till 1970.

Telephone Calls
Telephone calls
Apartment a is at it again
Paper thin walls
Shes been sleeping around with other men
And other women
But right about now her head is swimming
Hes breakin up the furniture
Screamin and a yellin
About to beat the hell outta her
Chorus 1
Television ringin in my ear
Ive been thinkin
Havent had a break in 20 years
Ive been drinkin
Telephone calls
Insanity is just another ring away
I get the paper
Take a look at it every single day
Another episode
Another life flushed down the camode(spelling? )
Were all carrying such a heavy load
I get no slack
Its breakin my back
Chorus 2
Television ringin in my ear, Ive been drinkin
Havent had a break in 20 years
Ive been thinkin get me out of here..
til the coast is clear
Television ringinin my ear, Ive been thinkin
Havent had a break in 20 years
I keep drinkin television ringin in my ear,
I keep drinkin liquor, wine, and beer
Ive been thinkin
Get me out of here

Electricity
Our one source of energy
The ultimate discovery
Electric blue for me
Never more to be free
Electricity
Nuclear and hep
Carbon fuels from the sea
Wasted electricity
Our one source of energy
Electricity
All we need to live today
A gift for man to throw away
The chance to change has nearly gone
The alternative is only one
The final source of energy
Solar electricity
Electricity
Electricity
Electricity

Television Man
Im looking and Im dreaming for the first time
Im inside and Im outside at the same time
And everything is real
Do I like the way I feel?
When the world crashes in into my living room
Television man made me what I am
People like to put the television down
But we are just good friends
(Im a) television man
I knew a girl, she was a macho man
But its alright, I wasnt fooled for long
This is the place for me
Im the king, and youre the queen
Chorus
Take a walk in the beautiful garden
Everyone would like to say hello
It doesnt matter what you say
Come and take us away
The world crashes in, into my living room
The world crashes in, into my living room
The world crashes in, into my living room
The world crashes in, into my living room
And we are still good friends...(television man)
Im watching everything...(television man)
Television man...(television man)
Im watching everything...(television man)
Television man...and Im gonna say
We are still good friends...and Im trying to be
Watchin everything...and I gotta say
We are still good friends...you know the way it is
Television man...Ive got what you need
We are still good friends...i know the way you are
Television man...i know what youre tryin to be
Watchin everything...and I gotta say
Thats how the story ends.

If Not For the Dark
If not for the dark
I wouldn’t be here
For not for the part
Of my heart you
Broke
I wouldn’t be able
To write
Like an angel
Master of my craft
Always improving
With out you
There’d be no dark
No art to hide there
No soul willing to find
It
No one to dispair
Without you mother
I would not be what I am
Who I was and what you
Claimed for me to be
If not for the dark
I wouldn’t be
A god given gift
If not for the dark,
I wouldn’t cry when it rained,
And I wouldn’t think of
That damned flood...
So many years ago,
If not for the dark...
I could not be vain,
I could not be at once
Maculine Eros
And Fememine Aphrodite
I could not see why
Pride will be my downfall
If not for the dark
I would be bitter to the world
Becuase of your rotting
Cervix I came forth
If not for the dark

School-Community
School is a community which surrounds you most
A place where teachers seem somewhat like ghosts
Believing that it’s a chance for new friends
But the community also introduces new ends
You believe that you yourself can never be true
To reside into acting into someone that isn't you
The school community soon becoming fake
Inside, many people's hearts begin to ache
We believe in not showing our true selves
The community telling to dig deep in ourselves
Slowly we start believing that freedom is forbidden
But does school truly want ourselves to remain hidden?
Friendships can lead to you being cut down
We sometimes wish this community wasn't around
But then we realise not to defy the real world
And that the real truth is being unfurled
This community teaches us to stand on our own feet
And without this test we shall still remain incomplete
The teachings is something that no one seems to share
In the real world these are teachings we'll need out there
School is a place where there are things we must learn
Otherwise the community outside will cause us to return
The community outside is the place we are yearning
But this community is the place we are still learning…

Part Of Your World
Look at this stuff
Isn't it neat?
Wouldn't you think my collection's complete?
Wouldn't you think I'm the girl
The girl who has everything?
Look at this trove
Treasures untold
How many wonders can one cavern hold?
Looking around here you'd think(i love you)
Sure, she's got everything
I've got gadgets and gizmo's a-plenty
I've got woozits and whatzits galore
You want thingamabobs? I've got 20.
But who cares?
No big deal
I want more
I wanna be where the people are
I wanna see
Wanna see 'em dancing
Walking around on those
[What do you call 'em? oh, feet!]
Flipping your fins you don't get to far
Legs are required for jumping, dancing
strolling along down the
What's that word again? street
Oh, Up where they walk
Up where they run
Up where they stay all day in the sun
Wandering free
Wish I could be
Part of that world
What would I give
If I could live
Out of these waters?
What would I pay
To spend a day
Warm on the sand?
Bet'cha on land
They understand
that they don't reprimend their daughters
Bright young women
Sick of swimming
Ready to stand
And I'm ready to know what the people know
Ask 'em my questions and get some answers
What's a fire and why does it
What's the word? burn
When's it my turn?
Wouldn't I love
Love to explore the shore up above?
Out of the sea
Wish I could be
Part of that world
Out of the sea
Wish I could be
Part of your world

Best
The best gift in the world comes
from the best part of the world
and the best part of the world comes from Africa,
and the best part of Africa comes from west Africa and the best part
of west Africa comes from Nigeria,
and the best part of Nigeria comes
from Niger delta,
and the best part of Niger delta
comes from Delta State and the
best part of Delta State comes
from Warri,
and the best part of Warri comes from my community and
the best thing that has happened
in my community is you&me.

Don't Confuse The Issue At Hand
This 'thing' ain't whirling around in space 'cause you on it.
You are part of it.
'You' are not 'it'.
But...
Wait a minute.
Let me re-think this.
hmmm
Let's see.
IF you 'are' part of it...
Wouldn't that make you all of it as well?
Or part of the whole?
Since the whole is part of you?
'I've been trying to tell you...
This is 'my' world.
It's yours too, ain't it? '
Well...
YEAH!
'Then what are you talking about when you say,
'IT ain't all about me?
Then 'who' and 'what' is 'this' all about? '
Don't confuse the issue at hand.
You always think you know so much.
And want everything your way!
'Didn't we just agree,
That this is 'my' world? '
Well...
Not 'all' of it!
'Then what part of my world don't you exist in?
What percentage of it is yours? '
Let's just dropp this.
We're not getting anywhere.
'I beg to differ.
Now as I was saying...
I'll drive my folks place,
And then we'll grab a bite to eat! '

Maintaining Peace with Ease
Both World ‘Hello Day' and 'Television Day’ falls on same day
Without both where we would be today
Gopal was trying hard to resolve conflict and confusion
After blaming for scheduling mishap on United Nation.
Gopal said hello on daily basis
And to watch television he always wished
World Hello Day was to be celebrated by greeting 10 people
By personally communicating to preserve peace.
He eased the pain of choosing between the two
By switching on the television in his house
And on November 21, watching 10 people saying ‘hello’
Celebrating both, and rule of preserving peace to follow!

Serious Music
(words by john oates
Music by john oates, george bizet)
To play to get rich
And die baroque is wrong
If you write a song for god
Will he sing along
While rows of robot symphonies read on
Is that the way you wanted it played
Manuscripted memories
Sound with no electricity
Concentration line on the face of serious music
Manuscripted memories
Sound but no electricity
Concentration lines on the face of serious music
You brought a bit of jazz to the concert hall
But you wont hear violins at the darkies ball
Your rhapsody in blue will outlive us all
I wish I was there the night you played it
Manuscripted memories
Sound with no electricity
Concentration line on the face of serious music
Manuscripted memories
Sound but no electricity
Concentration lines on the face of serious music

When The World Is Running Down
Turn on my V.C.R.
Same one I've had for years
James Brown on the T. A. M. I. show
Same tape I've had for years
I sit in my old car
Same one I've had for years
Old battery's running down
It ran for years and years
Turn on the radio
The static hurts my ears
Tell me where would I go
I ain't been out in years
Turn on the stereo
It's played for years and years
An Otis Redding song
It's all I own
When the world is running down
You make the best of what's still around
When the world is running down
You make the best of what's still around
Plug in my M.C.I
To exercise my brain
Make records on my own
Can't go out in the rain
Pick up the telephone
I've listened here for years
No one to talk to me
I've listened here for years
When the world is running down
You make the best of what's still around
When the world is running down
You make the best of what's still around
When I feel lonely here
Don't waste my time with tears
I run 'Deep Throat' again
It ran for years and years
Don't like the food I eat
The cans are running out
Same food for years and years
I hate the food I eat
When the world is running down
You make the best of what's still around
When the world is running down
You make the best of what's still around
When the world is running down
You make the best of what's still around
When the world is running down
You make the best of what's still around

Inventions
'What's the greatest ever invention
the best the world has ever known?
some say it has to be the wheel
while others reckon it's the Telephone '
But a lot of people love their Television
then again we all like to listen to the radio
let's not forget everyday material though
like Nylon, Plastic, and good old Velcro.
Where would we be without transport?
for a start we wouldn't go very far
so how about the Steam Engine
or the Bicycle, Helicopter, or the Motor Car?
In our kitchens we have many appliances
like a freezer where we store food to save
also an Electric or a Gas Cooker
and where would we be without the Microwave?
But there's been hundreds of inventions
from a Paper Clip, Safety Pin, a Telescope,
Computers and the modern wonder of the Internet
down to Toothpaste, and a little bar of Soap.
So I decided to ask my elderly neighbour
while she stood chatting smoking her fag
'Elsie, what's the greatest ever invention? '
she replied: ' Cigarettes, and a Tetley Tea Bag! '

I Can't For The Life of me Spell Holocaust
i'm being honest,
really i can't. i don't know how to spell it.
i know that it was horrible,
and it killed part of my family
in an excruciating, only-human way.
i know that it was specifically
one man's fault in history books,
and millions of people's on the DL.
if it happened here,
i cannot say it wouldn't be the same.
i can't, i'm being honest with you.
look around you at the world you see,
if a holocaust happened
wherever you are in this crazy world...
wouldn't it be the same?
In the end, who will you be?
everyone has a choice to make.

Remove It From Your Mind
Does the shallowness,
Of one with a fickled soul show...
If it is announced to another,
How much a missing of one's presence is...
After many years has come to go,
Without a sign of contact.
Or...
Should the one who has been contacted,
Not be suspicious of this act at all.
If the one proclaiming to have done the missing...
Responds to an email sent 'eleven' years ago,
And did not express this in a telephone call.
'Well,
My opinion is this...
That person isn't too high,
On a priority list.
And a confession made,
After that length of time has come to go away...
I wouldn't be suspicious.
I would remove it from my mind to dismiss this quick.'
Hypothetically speaking?
'Hypothetically speaking or not.
People like that are into themselves.
People like that are thoughtless and should be dropped.'

Spark & Cindy
Spark and cindy live by their own means
They wouldn't have if i'd only known where they'd been
And i want to make things a part of my life
And i want to see that things are going to be right
But if you can't even stand on your feet
And if you don't own the air that you breathe
Then it's not for me to say
But i wouldn't live that way
And i wouldn't stand apart
And i wouldn't find the real
And i wouldn't play a part
And i wouldn't find in love
So misguided by some fool
And just what i'm trying trying to say
Makes my head spin round the room
(repeat from 3rd line onwards)
