Half The World
Words by neil peart, music by geddy lee and alex lifeson
Half the world hates
What half the world does every day
Half the world waits
While half gets on with it anyway
Half the world lives
Half the world makes
Half the world gives
While the other half takes
Half the world is
Half the world was
Half the world thinks
While the other half does
Half the world talks
With half a mind on what they say
Half the world walks
With half a mind to run away
Half the world lies
Half the world learns
Half the world flies
As half the world turns
Half the world cries
Half the world laughs
Half the world tries
To be the other half
Half of us divided like a torn-up photograph half of us are
Trying to reach the other half
Half the world cares
While half the world is wasting the day
Half the world shares
While half the world is stealing away

Half The World
Half the world lives,
Half the world makes,
Half the world gives
While the other half takes.
Half the world hates,
Half the world runs away,
Half the world's late,
Half the world praises the day.
Half the world is,
Half the world was,
Half the world thinks,
Half the world does.
Half the world lies,
Half the world burns,
Half the world cries
While the other half turns.
Half the world cares,
Half the world weeps,
Half the world shares,
Half the world keeps.
Half the world sings,
Half the world laughs,
Half the world brings,
Half the world tries to be the other half.
End.
Presidents with strong nerves are decisive. They don't balk at unpopular decisions. They are willing to make people angry. Bush had strong nerves. Clinton, who passed up a chance to eliminate Osama bin Laden, did not. Obama is a people pleaser, a trait not normally associated with nerves of steel.

Fear
When I was little,
My life was half fear.
My nerves were as brittle
As nature may bear.
Shapes monstrous would follow
My footsteps alone,
And night, huge and hollow,
Yawned cold as a stone.
At trifles I started,
For nothing I wept,
And terror departed
Not all when I slept.
Now I've grown older,
My nerves I restrain.
My pulses are colder,
And clearer my brain.
Yet still with a shudder
I drift through the dark
And fear holds the rudder,
A-guiding my bark.
The world's so enormous
In multiple whole,
What god can inform us
It cares for a soul?

My nerves before a gig got worse; I had terrible bad nerves all the time. Once we started... I was fine.

Oh the nerves, the nerves; the mysteries of this machine called man! Oh the little that unhinges it, poor creatures that we are!

The nerves are a problem on trumpet, because when you mess up everyone can hear it. Just remember most people are too polite to say anything about it. That should calm your nerves.

I have been on the same dose of anti-depressants for 15 years, and my nerves still go up and down in cycles; but my nerves are cycling at a lower level than they were before.

He who feels compelled to consider the consequences of these facts cannot but realize that the specific sensibility of nerves for certain impressions is not enough, since all nerves are sensitive to the same cause but react to the same cause in different ways.

The Most Painful is Neglect
Pleasure and pain limit to sensory nerves.
Pride and disgrace get to center nerves.
Neglect and abandonment pierce to its core.
There lies hell the old must learn to live with.

You Don't Have to Read This Part
i never liked
honestly enough
those fidgety leaves
those nerves
that fall short of the
translation of
the word
in my native language
yours too
but
which you must have
betrayed
for something lesser
than yourself
do not tell me more
go away
i know what nerves
are too
last night
i could not sleep
thinking that
for all those years
i wasted
myself on you
blackbird...

Finding Peace Within
Where are your children?
They are awfully quiet this evening.
'We're trying new methods of discipline.
My doctor told me this morning,
I should try yoga to calm my nerves.'
That's great.
So you taught the children?
Is that where they are?
Doing yoga?
'Oh no!
I found an easier way to find peace within.
For a half hour each day...
And for total relaxation,
I tie the kids up and tape their mouths! '
You shouldn't do that.
That's against the law.
'That's where you and I disagree.
I am finding peace within.
And they are helping me locate it!
I told them my doctor suggested I do this,
For at least two weeks.
They believe this is lesson one! '
What is lesson two?
'Total rage!
That is what they will see.
If they forget the rules of lesson one.'
But you're not doing any yoga at all.
'I beg to differ.
It's a slow process.
I am working on my breathing technique.
Calms the nerves!
You should try it.
It's wonderful.'

I Dont Want To Be Alone
(reba mcentire)
My nerves are shot, the coffees cold.
Wish that I could be so bold as to
Walk right up to you and say what I think.
I dont now what you think
Of me. and I know everyone can see Im crazy
About you and always will be.
Wheres womens lib when you need it the most.
Or was it mama who said
Youre not suppose to flaunt yourself like that
As if theres no in between.
Or maybe its not that Im afraid, its just that the last move I made
Embarrased me to death and made me want to hide.
So if youve ever been embarrassed before meet me half way
And Ill know for sure. at least
Well still be friends if I mess up again.
Cause it aint easy meeting
Someone new. especially when that someone is you.
It aint easy by being by yourself. its no fun to be alone,
And I dont want to be alone.
Cause it aint easy meeting someone new.
Especially when that someone is
You. it aint easy by being by yourself. its no fun to be alone,
And I dont want to be alone.
My nerves are shot, the coffees cold.
Wish that I could be so bold as to walk
Right up to you and say what I think.

Nerves
Nerves are most extraordinary,
Full of useful information,
At a moment's notice merry
With abounding cacchination,
Then with subtle transformation,
Dreary as a cemetery
Just prepared for occupation.—
Nerves are most extraordinary.

On Count Voronstov
One half Milord, one half in trade,
One half a sage, one half a dunce,
One half a crook, but here for once
There's every hope he'll make the grade.

Aluu 4
When the mist is gone,
And the stitches finished,
But wounds not healed,
My sub-conscious, painting the scene
As I quiver in fear
Of the human race.
Wake me!
Eyes flash, back
That unfolded october cold finger,
Poking my nerves.
Eyes stare in disbelief,
And a Jaw sagging beneath,
My reach
I raised my voice,
Half-crying, half-cursing,
Murderers!
Beasts!
Shocked beyond the ordinary.
Out of my solitude,
Rode my voice, on echoes
Telling the wind,
Let the pain of faceless
Quench my anger.
Still no response in return,
Leaving me stuck on
Why?
A naked day of mad fire
... silence.

That Anxious Feeling inside You
Do you ever get that anxious feeling in your gut?
You have a good life but it’s still there,
You don’t have everything but enough and it’s still there,
Well your uneasy nerves are playing tricks
An’ only you can make it fix, for
It isn’t going to happen, if it does so what.
Get your mind to your nerves to play tricks,
If it’s raining that’s your drinking gaining,
Laugh and love your life...that will surely fix,
Now you’s ava nice day, every day!
Then let the new you stick to the facts,
Take it easy rider and relax.

It's Like An Impatience Waiting
The hour for the last time,
You allow someone to get on your nerves...
Approaches.
And something inside of you knows it.
It's like an impatience waiting,
To pop the cork...
On a bottle of champagne.
The hour for the last time,
You allow someone to get on your nerves...
Approaches.
And unaware is this person,
They assist in helping you to celebrate...
A time in your life,
You thought would never come!

Escape.
Let me escape,
From my own machinations,
From my own bitter creations,
I feel like I am in an ice cage,
There's half water and half ice,
I am half frozen and half shaky,
I am half alive and half dead,
I feel like breaking through this cage,
My soul wants to runaway,
Breaking these walls,
Out of my isolation,
Out of my despair,
In this revolution,
Out of this confusion,
And escape,
Out of this hollowness,
Out of this pain, half endured and half erupting,
With this volcanic heart, aching hard,
Out of myself,
Out of this lava I breathe...
Out of this story, untold, unread,
And escape, just escape...
