After I'd produced about two dozen pen and ink drawings, one evening I decided that they needed poems to accompany them. I still have no idea where that notion came from, but it took me about two hours to produce verses for these creatures.

I invented animals and birds - I had about two dozen. After working on them for six months, I sat down and just for fun wrote two dozen poems to accompany the drawings. It was for no one to every see, but a friend sent me in to an editor.

Why I Don`t Care At All About Copyright
I don`t care at all about what you do with my poems.
You can steal them, laugh at them or cut them up to make
blackmail letters for your boss. You can eat them or smoke them
as long as you first bake the verses for two hours.
You can sing them in the toilet, kiss them, spray them
in the underground in Berlin, burn them, cover them with paint,
leave them at midnight before a poem orphanage or make love
to them on the back seat of an old Ford.
You can even (if you have nothing better to do) read them.
I hope that one day my poems
will grow up and run about the park
on a summer evening.

Whooper-will Calls
Hear the Whooper-will
as evening begins to call,
telling everything
evening is approaching fast.
Daytime creatures
scurry to their homes
for their much needed sleep
before the night skies come.
Night creatures yawn
and climb out of their bed.
Another day is revolving
around the Whooper-will calling.

I was in the room with, you know, more than a dozen Republicans trying to negotiate the stimulus. Most of them decided the politics of the situation meant they should walk away, even if it wasn't responsible in terms of what our country needed right then.

Department Of Re-Creation
We have heard your side of the story.
And fiction based with a wholesome taste,
Is what has been discovered...
Has made it that way.
And although your story lacks,
Both truth and any basis of uncovered facts...
It has been decided to hire you to head,
The Department Of Re-Creation.
With a keeping intact what is needed most,
To inspire and motivate all of our actions.
We take this opportunity to congratulate you,
In maintaining your determination...
To suspend from the usage of any reality produced.
Our future in your hands,
Has been sealed indefinitely!
We can all now sigh a most needed relief.

An Evening Poem
AN EVENING POEM
An evening poem
Waits for deeper darkness
A night poem knows blackness
As home.
A morning poem is light
An afternoon poem is thick with heat.
All times have a poem
And all seasons poems also
All lives are poems
And all stories also.
We all are and all know poems
Poems pervade us
And the universe.
It is night now
But when the morning comes
Its poem will overshadow now.
What a brave new world it is
With so many poems in it
And what a life-
With such deep sadness
Waiting forever to be unexpressed.

Mean Erotic Poems
as i arrive you go away
in an instant
saying bye
i got to go, i have a date on the island
somewhere
distant, so distant from you
you left a note telling me my erotic poems
are mean
and not exciting and not turning you on
like a woman should be
reading about sex, sympathy, some tea and company
some smoke
making love to the red curtains
some hard liquor
to make your breast stiff
and
a fighter, like the way how hard i turn on
you
and like the way my hands go wild and smash
the softness of your thoughts
you leave and heave an ending sigh
your signature
of
i hate you, i hate you, i hate you
perhaps even promising not to read
any poem
of mine anymore, anywhere, anytime
i understand,
the poems are mean, they are not meant for you
they long for someone
somewhere and her name lingers still
in my arm like a rose tattoo
there is a thorn there
always and some drops of blood
dried
now, more like some drawings, mere drawings of my youth

I really don't like going out. I don't like restaurants because I don't like the idea of someone, a waitress, being responsible for my evening. I like seconds, and more, and lots of conversation, and I've always hated the idea that in a restaurant an evening just ends. I find that incredibly depressing.

Sonnet: Modern Poetry
Is modern ultimate in any field?
There’s no music or Rhyme in ‘Vers Libre’,
What could poems without melody yield?
It is a drab, uninteresting tray!
How long could readers read on free verses?
Invariably, it makes not much of sense;
’Tis like Mother Nature, treeless/ bird less!
’Tis like a gardenless house with a fence.
Oh, how good the yester-year poets were!
What beauty they showed by using meter?
Imagism cannot suffice, I fear!
Poems aren’t modern in the ‘vers libre’.
The older poems are the best to read;
The Blank verses for very long can’t lead.

An Afternoon Poem Is Rare
AN AFTERNOON POEM IS RARE
An Afternoon Poem is rare-
Afternoon is long after the first light-
Afternoon is a time of heaviness and quiet
A time of rest-
Afternoon is after the morning work has been done-
Afternoon is the weight of the day-
Afternoon is the time after the day has lost its freshness-
Still there must be afternoon poems-
There must be a beauty that emerges
In its own way,
Perhaps from where lovers meet
Perhaps from ‘ripeness is all’
Perhaps from the anticipation of evening
Perhaps from winter where it is the warmest time of day.
There must be afternoon poems-
Poems that celebrate all that warmth can bring-
Poems of rest poems of sleep-
Poems of waiting to believe
That in the evening
A new day and a new world
Will make life easier again.

The Creator
He made the universe with the wave of his hand
then decided to change the plan.
he made this planet of dirt and stone
but it could not be left alone.
He needed something to quench his thirst
from the ground water did burst.
he made this planet two thirds water
and put in creatures to complete the order.
He felt all that he created was a great plan.
then he decided to make man.
man was the most difficult challenge
of all his creations
for it had to be of great sensation.
man would live on all the creatures
that he created, in land, air, or sea.
to be able to think, with the brain
that they was given,
and control all life forms that was living.
He decided to give man a heart of gold
and then added a thing called soul.
he gave the heart a two fold purpose
one to live, and the other to feel
all sorts of different sensations.
then he added all the other spices
love, sorrow, jealousy, bitterness and hate.
but the strongest two was LOVE AND FAITH.
now that the heart was complete
he took the soul, and he did treat.
he treated it with all that he had put into
the mind and heart.
this is how we got our start.
now that all this was done
in the future he would give his SON.
His son may have many different names
but he is GOD just the same.

I don't write poems
I don't write poems,
I drink them like wine,
I become tipsy
with each coming line.
I don't write poems,
I breathe them like air,
I become so happy
when each one I share.
I don't write poems,
I live with them;
they prolong my years,
they are as true as I am.
I don't write poems,
I weave into verses
sadness, joy, tears,
prayers, love, curses…
My poems talk and sing,
Sense of living they bring.

Her Beautiful Fragrance
Poems are my life
My feelings are not fake
I swear to god, I have loved her
However, she could never be mine.
Not even poetry can express how deeply I did love her
Still her beautiful complexion
Is everywhere in my poetry
Her beautiful fragrance, still I can breathe
Everywhere, I see her and feel
Never, have I ever been so close to her
Especially now when she is no more mine
I do not know anything
The perfume she applied, I still can feel
Poems are my life
She was a perfect poem and still I am trying to pen her into verses
These are verses of love as well pain
Forever, I will feel her
Even though she can never be mine
My sweet sugar I will describe her to be
Poems are my life and I do not know anything other than her
Her beautiful fragrance, I still breathe.

The Only Dreams I Have In Writing Now Are Poems
THE ONLY DREAMS I HAVE IN WRITING NOW ARE POEMS
The only dreams I have in writing now are poems
Poems and more poems-
I write them in the morning and in the evening
At all times of day
Whenever I can make them come to me
They calm me and make me rest
They bring a sense that I am still alive
They justify me an amuse me
They give me hope
The only dreams I have now are poems
And poems keep me alive
As long as they can.

Jewels
A pen that has been dipped in mud
Writes poems that loses meaning
Its message falls into a thud
A sad demise to the art of writing.
Like jewels that are badly stained
Smutty words abort its value,
Whatever beauty has been gained
Dissolves in verses that fall through.
A poem need not have verbal dirt
To catch a few hollow attention
Revealing true poetic worth
Gives it that genuine valuation.
A writer's poems are life jewels
Precious gems in verses of gold,
Of great value when written well-
Such a blessing to behold.

Creatures Of Love
A woman made a man
A man he made a house
And when they lay together
Little creatures all come out
Well, Ive seen sex and I think its alright
It makes those little creatures come to life
I can laugh or I can turn away
Well, Ive seen sex and I think its okay
We are creatures, creatures of love
We are creatures, creatures of love
From the sleep of reason, a life is born
We are creatures, creatures of love
Its okay to be afraid
When the blue sparks hit your brain
We can love one another
Ive been told that its okay
Doctor, doctor, tell me what I am
Am I one of those human beings
Well I can laugh or I can learn to think
So help me now to find out what I feel
We are creatures, creatures of love
We are creatures, creatures of love
Weve been here forever, before you were born
We are creatures of love, we are creatures of love
A man can drive his car
And a woman can be a boss
Im a monkey and a flower
Im everything at once
Well, a woman and a man can be together
If they decide to theyll make little creatures
Watch em now!
Little creature of love
With two arms and two legs
From a moment of passion
Now they cover the bed
We are creatures of love, we are creatures of love
We are creatures, creatures of love
We are creatures, creatures of love
From the sleep of reason, a life is born
We are creatures of love, we are creatures of love

No Goldfish
Who will care
for my poems
when I die?
I have no goldfish
or pet cat
to give away.
My poems will cuddle up
serenely curl up with you
on a long winter’s evening.
My poems will swim and flash
tails of intricate golden detail
on a long cozy winter’s evening.
Who will care
for my poems
when I am gone?
Goldfish are a sacred species
cats are a sacred species
all life is a sacred species somewhere.
Poems are also
a sacred life force.
For it is the task appointed
to the divine poet to render;
foolish humanity worthy
when seeking redemption,
through hidden wisdom written
within sealed lines, in a starlit poem.
