I had a brief theater background and loved the backstage world there's more backstage work in television, so I saw a job advertised and applied, and got it. That was back in 1977, when getting jobs was easy.

Lyrics:klaus meine
Hey little donna, sweet little donna I know
You wanted my love and I gave it to you.
Hey little donna, sweet little donna you know
Goodbye is hello, cos Im on the road.
Take it easy, dont get me wrong,
Just keep me in your dreams.
Take it easy, life goes on
My little backstage queen.
Hey little donna, sweet little donna so good
My feeling with you was all very true.
Hey little donna, sweet little donna you know
Goodbye is hello, cos Im on the road.
Take it easy, dont get me wrong,
Just keep me in your dreams.
Take it easy, life goes on
My little backstage queen.
Hey little donna
Sweet little donna
Goodbye donna ...

Because of the power of television, I was visible to everybody all over the world. But there are many things in the theater that are more fulfilling and that I look forward to doing more. But really, I love it all: theater, film, television.

It was 1988, I believe, that I met Grit. We were both appearing in a Canadian Folk Festival and as we sat backstage he handed me his guitar. I played it, loved it, and then found out that he'd made it himself.

Have You Ever Wished
Have you ever wished your luck would turn your life crosses so heavy to bear
Your financial woes keep increasing yet you know your type are not rare
With a wife and two young children to support and a huge mortgage on your home to pay
You have to work hard for a living and for you never an easy day
You wake in the dark of the morning and board the bus for your workplace
You work sixty hours a week monday to friday the weariness showing on your tired face
On you life has never been easy but hope from you it has not gone
You look to a financially better and a happier future and to that you keep working on
You've asked the boss for a raise in wages but his answer to you was no
For ten years you have worked hard for his company but for your effort financially wise you don't have much to show
You have applied for jobs to other companies but jobs are not easy to find
The job you work in you must stick at though to work there you do not feel inclined
The quotation from Shaw 'Life's not meant to be easy' to you surely has to apply
And you know of the survival battle of that you none can deny.

Love Song for You
I have boyfriend
I have boyfriend
But somehow I don't understand
With tears I should call
Like a fool to get calm
I can't sleep
My soul in the night is trapped on a story
I'm really selfish
That guy is so kind
I have boyfriend
I have boyfriend
Every pages of my heart want to be filled
I have boyfriend
I have boyfriend
But something I don't understand
Me, everybody, all of us realize
The backstage story of happiness drama
The one who calls just me
Because he would never do that
Me, everybody, all of us realize
The backstage story of happiness drama
The one who wants to meet just me
Because he would never do that

My Work Ethic
I make what I do look easy.
So naturally,
Those who believe they know me...
Think there is no effort applied.
And insist I could get a real job,
If I tried.
And they have real jobs they despise.
And I can say,
My work ethic is real.
I am devoted to what I do.
And with me that is the appeal.
I may not have money they can respect.
Or finances to purchase what I wish for next.
But there is one thing I know no one with me can bet...
I wont be seen shopping at the mall seeking a happiness.
And I can say,
My work ethic is real.
I am devoted to what I do.
And with me that is the appeal.
So naturally,
Those who believe they know me...
Think there is no effort applied.
And insist I could get a real job,
If I tried.
And they have real jobs they despise.
And nothing that I do with this passion I have,
Can I describe or categorize!
And everyday what I do to do it until it gets done...
I feel grateful to be blessed,
With a happiness I can regard as fun!

So I majored in Drama, did all the plays that were possible to do, skated through school in order to be in every production on stage or backstage in whatever capacity and I came to New York looking for work in the summers.

Audience
Hello Stranger,
Which seat did you take?
My feet dawdle by the parquetry
My knees squirm in a rattle
As I inquired for vigor
Amidst the unvoiced languor
In your sincerity
And the spectral company
That moored my anticipation
And dragged me to this stage.
In row, in line
I cowered and sighed
As I pensively scanned
An emptied theater
Yet, I carried on
Reciting another poem:
"Hello Stranger,
I knew you won't be here
But I ensued anyway,
Head above water,
As I depict blithely
A Stranger musing, listening,
By the somnolence backstage."
