I had a brief theater background and loved the backstage world there's more backstage work in television, so I saw a job advertised and applied, and got it. That was back in 1977, when getting jobs was easy.

My parents couldn't afford a full time drama school, but I basically just did every class I could do, and followed every drama interest I could. When I was 15 or 16 I did drama courses.

School Is Not So Cool

A school is not cool
We're here 5 days a week
8 hours a day.

I became an art major, took every art class my school had to offer. In college, I majored in Advertising Art and Design.
One thing is having skated five of the best races I've probably could have skated. It was nice to peak at the right time and to do it in an important time in somebody's career.
