The rivalry is with ourself. I try to be better than is possible. I fight against myself, not against the other.

Sonnet: Rivalry
Rivalry exists in some professions;
’Tis also found in the animal world;
Sometimes, it occurs in a few sessions,
Among nations, leading to a war cold.
The King cobra devours the python huge,
When a fit of ravenous hunger strikes;
Whenev’r jealousy in hearts takes refuge,
Rivalry stems from the many dislikes,
Friends become rivals in getting first place,
And become foes and seal each other’s fate;
Chivalry is rivalry’s healthy face;
Rivalry leads to no development state.
Rivalry has no place in any life;
Chivalry is good especially in strife.

Identity and rivalry
Identity and Rivalry
Are two demons that work in you.
You toil more than you have to.
You spend more than you need to.
Thus the demon, Identity, is kept.
You fight and exhaust redundantly.
You revenge and incur wrath.
Thus the demon, Rivalry, is kept.
Sacrifices you make go waste.
Edifices you make turn void.
It is your end when wisdom comes.

To Have The Other End
Without comparison,
We cannot evoke satisfaction.
Without jealousy,
We cannot see rivalry
Without rivalry,
We cannot ensure victory.
Without woman folk,
We cannot install chivalry.

The pressure people put on themselves and the rivalry between the teams is much more marked. And I think that's a good thing. As long as that rivalry remains within the spirit of competition, it con only spur everyone on.

Fight
Sometimes there's nothing to feel
Sometimes there's nothing to hold
Sometimes there's no time to run away
Sometimes you just feel so old
The times it hurts when you cry
The times it hurts just to breathe
And then it all seems like there's no-one left
And all you want is to sleep
Fight fight fight
Just push it away
Fight fight fight
Just push until it breaks
Fight fight fight
Don't cry at the pain
Fight fight fight
Or watch yourself burn again
Fight fight fight
Don't howl like a dog
Fight fight
Just fill up the sky
Fight fight fight
Fight til you drop
Fight fight fight
And never never
Never stop
Fight fight fight
Fight fight fight
So when the hurting starts
And when the nightmares begin
Remember you can fill up the sky
You don't have to give in
You don't have to give in
Never give in
Never give in
Never give in

Don't Get Close
Somebody give me some light
And I punch it into the heart
Somebody show me the end
And I try to push to start
Not trying to figure out
A better way, a better answer
But I keep finding all the problems
I've been looking after
You can't wander through the world
With nothing but a smile
I'll take your tongue for words
And use it to instill denial
Don't get close!
You don't know me and you'll never know
Chivalry!
Will get you somewhere
Rivalry!
Will take you there
Don't get close!
You don't know me and you'll never know
Chivalry!
Will get you somewhere
Rivalry!
Will take you there
Maybe I should look away
Before I ruin this
Maybe I should pick the time
Before I pick the place
Love into war the things that emulate then penalize
But I don't want to go until you want to finalize
Don't get close!
You don't know me and you'll never know!
Chivalry!
Will get you somewhere
Rivalry!
Will take you there
Don't get close!
You don't know me and you'll never know
Chivalry!
Will get you somewhere
Rivalry!
You abstained the part
My vision's all but shot
I have the best confession
Always go for all the lessons
Equations anti-news
Stay out and be a deuce
I didn't want to be
The undeniable so loose so free
Don't get close!
Don't get close!
Don't get close!
Don't get close!
Don't get close! [Better stay away!]
Don't get close! [Better stay away!]
Don't get close! [Better stay away!]
Don't get close! [Better stay away!]
I see what's in all the conflicts
Constrict just to fit in, squeeze in,
I can insist, closed fist
Remember?!
Remember?!
You take the breath of life
It never made much sense
I have the worst possession
What I won't put soul in session
Old man and be abused
Because this is so confused
I only want to be
Left alone and rot away
Don't get close!
Don't get close!
Don't get close!
Don't get close!
Don't get close! [Better stay away!]
Don't get close! [Better stay away!]
Don't get close! [Better stay away!]

Unicorn 11
Where the unlimited, expanding, limiting itself as it expands,
reaches where it can limit itself no further –
there it is; there in its, our, world; there you may see it;
where it could not be more beautiful
and yet be seen; where it could have
no other form, and still have form;
where it is most itself.
And so, where we are most ourself,
when we are most ourself, it’s there;
near; you may see it; you may not; near;
you and it, so close; and where
we are where all the stories tell –
the gate, the door, the mirror, the key that calls the hand,
the undergrowth pushed through, and there –
in the clearing in the woods, it is;
treading on the silent mossy ground,
can white be so transparent?
waiting for nothing and yet there;
where the limited meets the unlimited,
where we know
that whom we always knew we are,
unlimited;
Unicorn.

One need not be a chamber to be haunted,
One need not be a chamber to be haunted,
One need not be a house;
The brain has corridors surpassing
Material place.
Far safer, of a midnight meeting
External ghost,
Than an interior confronting
That whiter host.
Far safer through an Abbey gallop,
The stones achase,
Than, moonless, one's own self encounter
In lonesome place.
Ourself, behind ourself concealed,
Should startle most;
Assassin, hid in our apartment,
Be horror's least.
The prudent carries a revolver,
He bolts the door,
O'erlooking a superior spectre
More near.

Faith In Something Bigger
It may be warm but the snow is going to fall,
It may be warm but the snow is going to fall,
Enough to cover us all.
Enough to cover us all.
Weve gotta be strong men and follow a path again.
Weve gotta be strong men and follow a path again.
Weve got to have faith in something bigger,
Weve got to have faith in something bigger,
Faith in something bigger,
Faith in something bigger,
Faith in something big inside ourself.
Faith in something big inside ourself.
It might be cold but the heat of our love will melt,
It might be cold but the heat of our love will melt,
The snow we never felt.
The snow we never felt.
Were young and hardy again, we bow to weaker men.
Were young and hardy again, we bow to weaker men.
Weve got to have faith in something bigger,
Weve got to have faith in something bigger,
Faith in something bigger,
Faith in something bigger,
Faith in something big inside ourself.
Faith in something big inside ourself.
The more we learn, the less we believe to be true.
The more we learn, the less we believe to be true.
The more we prove, the more remains to be proved.
The more we prove, the more remains to be proved.
Weve gotta be strong men and follow a path again.
Weve gotta be strong men and follow a path again.
Weve got to have faith in something bigger,
Weve got to have faith in something bigger,
Faith in something bigger,
Faith in something bigger,
Faith in something big inside ourself, inside ourself.
Faith in something big inside ourself, inside ourself.
Faith in something bigger (x 8)
Faith in something bigger (x 8)

Unicorn 8
In the deepening dusk of forest glade,
in the mist of clouds rolling over the high hills,
in the sea-fog rolling in at turn of tide,
what feature of its form alerts us first
that it’s so present, now, and here?
That spiralled horn – why is it that we know
that’s where it should be seen,
that place upon our forehead we can feel ourselves?
The unicorn within us knows –
when attention spirals to a fine, fine point
and thought is stilled; that’s when
our single-pointed horn calls presence to its purest form,
its purest place, within ourself;
ourself; unicorn.

The rudimentary forms
Rivalry is the rudimentary
Form of enmity.
Solidarity is the rudimentary
Form of fear.
Sports and games are the rudimentary
Form of fight
Friendship across sex is the rudimentary
Form of sexual love

Expendable Youth
Gun down cold on a raw deal
Home turf my battlefield
In no one's way caught in a crossfire
Stray bullets can kill
Expendable youths
Fighting for possession
Having control the principle obsession
Rivalry and retribution
Death the only solution
Inured soul lies on the ground
Head blown off face down
Lying in a pool of blood
An accidental death homicide
Expendable youths
Fighting for possession
Having control the principle obsession
Rivalry and retribution
Death the only solution
Struggling to survive
The drug induced warfare
To have control and principle obsession
Expendable youth fighting for possession
Violence is only a friend
Expendable youths
Fighting for possession
Having control the principle obsession
Rivalry and retribution
Death the only solution

Without The Rose
Love is like a rose
good to hold and smell
but then that rose begins to die
and you go through hell
One thing you should know my friends
is that love can scorn
and just like life
every rose has it's thorns.
but as the rose you hold
withers and fades away
another rose has appeared
and your pains is taken away.
This cycle of life
no one will ever know
why we would fight amongst ourself
for that one single rose
And even though we try
to let our pain go
we can't do it
without that rose

We shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender.

When life has turned you bitter, and truth you see no more.
We all fight our battles,
we all fight our wars.
We all open chasms,
we all close the doors.
Fight while you can,
fight while you might.
Fight but in vain,
against one's own loveless light.
Victory but a veil,
of lies, treacheries and deceit.
Lie to yourself. Go on,
we all do.
