I don't think there is enough educational programming, but unfortunately, television is built around advertising and those shows don't get the big ratings.

But it's true, when you see some television, you carry it with you. It's like 90210. Tell me what young shows were being done then... We were thrilled about the ratings around the world.

Television viewers, they've been around a long time. They've been watching this thing now for 50 years. I mean, they know exactly what's happening when it comes to television programming. You can't put anything over on them anymore.

If you ever have the good fortune to create a great advertising campaign, you will soon see another agency steal it. This is irritating, but don't let it worry you; nobody has ever built a brand by imitating somebody else's advertising.

My father was invited to play on a television show when I was 17 or 18 that was an early equivalent of educational television, a Sunday afternoon kind of variety art show.

The network and local TV angle of broadcast television has received a black eye for not properly debating within the news issues that should be debated, instead of shuffling them of to television advertising.

Nobody's profitable at this moment, because recession is on; advertising dollars are down, and expenses are way up. So that kind of belies the situation that you would expect, because the ratings are way up everywhere.
The Great Idea in advertising is far more than the sum of the recognition scores, the ratings and all the other superficial indicators of its success; it is in the realm of myth, to which measurements cannot apply.

Nevertheless, I consider OOP as an aspect of programming in the large; that is, as an aspect that logically follows programming in the small and requires sound knowledge of procedural programming.

Free TV: What's Good About A Scheduled Demise?
What's good about an end to free tv after 60 years in
America, should the
cable companies have their way?
The audiences will shrink, as fewer will be able to afford
the pricegouging rates,
thus fewer people to absorb CNN and all other network
war programming,
fewer people to buy hook line and sinker the
advertising lies and materialism shilling,
fewer young to be influenced by the Sodom
and Gomorrha programming of the networks,
fewer customers for fast food murder sandwiches,
fewer fat people, subjected to infinite streams
of food ads, fewer ears for the loanshark megathief
capitalism proponents.

Through educational programming, Jewish American History Month will help raise the awareness of a people, their history and contributions. It will help combat anti-Semitism, a phenomenon that is on the rise and that unfortunately still exists in our Nation.

Ignorized
Many are starving.
More than 'many',
Have lost their dignity and homes.
Jobs are few and for some nonexistent.
Poverty grows.
And those unaccustomed to this,
Are persistently resistent.
But those who are concerned about ratings,
Of TV shows...
And which host draws the most,
Higher advertising gross.
Could care less what billions of dollars misused,
Should consciously address.
Since minds of greed represent those kinds of people.
And they are the ones,
Why this society is in a mess.
People who feed their self centeredness...
Are reasons why a decadence produces so much unrest.
And why those who are 'sane'...
Are made to be perceived as 'liberal' rejects!
Because those who have media control...
Have their minds only on pocketing dollars.
And not known to uplift with goodwill,
The needs of the masses...
To reflect their very best!
Since most TV 'execs' are soul-less leechers!
Fed to consume,
As fast as they can a trash for them...
Free of responsibility.
With only an objective to see ratings soar and zoom!
While they actively participate...
In the crushing of those viewers,
Who keep their pockets full.
As they, the people...
Unwise and ill advised...IGNORIZED!
Head hypnotized by televised lies.
Blinded are their eyes.
And faithfully fated awaiting a programmed doom.
Glued to this twistedness with anticipation and kept fools.

We have come through a strange cycle in programming, starting with the creation of programming itself as a human activity. Executives with the tiniest smattering of knowledge assume that anyone can write a program, and only now are programmers beginning to win their battle for recognition as true professionals. Not just anyone, with any background, or any training, can do a fine job of programming. Programmers know this, but then why is it that they think that anyone picked off the street can do documentation? One has only to spend an hour looking at papers written by graduate students to realize the extent to which the ability to communicate is not universally held. And so, when we speak about computer program documentation, we are not speaking about the psychology of computer programming at all - except insofar as programmers have the illusion that anyone can do a good job of documentation, provided he is not smart enough to be a programmer.
