Heart Is A Vase
A heart is a vase
Love is a flower we put in the vase
Passion is the water for the flower
But romance, respect, trust, and commitment
Is the sunshine that makes the flower bloom

The Vase
the vase where
your flower is put
is filled with
mosquitoes
do you still want to
put it there?
in this lousy metaphor
my body is the vase.

I Picked A Flower
I picked a flower from a bush
And I loved it so
Put it in a vase next to my bed
But how was I to know
That the flower cried for its bush
That the bush cried for its flower
But how was I to know
That the flower would die in an hour
The flower withered away
And I put it inside my book
Because I loved the flower so
But how was I to know
That the flower gasped for breath
That it was facing death
But how was I to know
That the flower so badly wanted to go
And I kept the flower close to me
So that every day I could see
But how was I know
That the flower that I had loved so
Had always hated me
That there was pain I couln't see
And how was I to know?

Everything You Don’t Know About Me
My mind is lost
My heart is lost
My body is lost
My spirit is lost
And I don’t know
If I can find it.
My pride is somewhat lost
My soul is somewhat lost
My thoughts are somewhat lost
My words are somewhat lost
Can not find what to say.
My life is confused
My daily happiness
Is still confused.
My smiles that I give
Are confused
But I don’t want to pretend
That I am happy when I’m not.
The smiles are numb to me
The laughs are numb to me
The good spirit is numb to me
The goals are lost and forever
Numb to me.
The love is no longer there
The happiness is no longer there
The smiles and pretending is
No longer there.
The happy thoughts are
No longer there.
Nowhere to be found
This is me.
But I don’t get it
They hurt me
Can’t they see?
Maybe I should just stay out
Of their lives.

Zen and the art of plastic flower maintenance
From time to time, when
I’ve been meditating, and
these things matter, I pick respectfully
the plastic flowers from their vase,
wash the vase, wipe the dust
off the leaves with a moist cloth,
dip the flower-heads in water
as one would give someone
a holy bath
and then replace them in
a slightly new position in the vase,
a slightly new position on the table.
absurdity and
something beautiful
have met and got along together rather well.

The Best of the Best
Smiles and laughs
Grief and tears
Sticking together through the years
Sad movies
Late night snacks
The laughs we can’t stop
Shopping till we drop
Long talks
The guys we stalk
Tough breakups
Happy make ups
Fights that never last
Our attitude and sass
Sleepovers
And four leaf clovers
Sports
And short shorts
Smiles and laughs
Grief and tears
Sticking together through the years

Wood The Flower Flails
Wood the flower flails,
So sad is now that vase,
None else to ever know,
That flower has joined the breeze,
Never to harvest new blooms.
Flower failed the wood a well,
A mothers dreary tail again to see,
To mix two hearts of one must she,
There beds now like the rest unmade.

I think acting is about forgetting yourself in order to give the best of yourself. It's passing through you more than you're creating it. You're not the flower, but the vase which holds the flower.

Romantic Scene
cloudy sky, drizzle rain with no end
under rainbow umbrella, there's a girl
wonder she laughs or cries
when I call, the wind blows her hair
she smiles so sweet and tender
I caught in magic flower frame

First Flower of Her Day
I’ve been a small stone
In a barren desert.
I’m weary of myself
And the hours
I spend alone.
One day I’ll be a flower
In a crystal vase
In a woman’s bedroom,
The first flower of her day,
And I’ll never be lonely.

Poor plastic Flower
My mother in law loves flower
This is our trial
My wife in denial
As she plants a flower
She has a brown thumb
This makes me glum
For she can’t even grow a plum
She has plastic flowers
And those took a powder
Poor plastic flower
A flower needs water
To give it power
She forget this every hour
That is why her flowers are powder
Her plastic flower had power
Until it's last hour
The vase did tower
As it was full of water
Poor plastic flower

June to July
For Junealice Pardo-Vela passed July 4th 2010**
Without the turning of a month I remained a beautiful flower
My vase of narrow glass of narrow food and narrow light
This-too-shall-passing under a sun with slight movement
Slight lines slight light through an open shudder fell
Across a counter until I was only bright in places
And in others cast in shadow where my blossom’s edge began to fall away
But by the light of your window I held myself as straight as tall hiding petals as they fell within the glass
I was bright and smiled and you passed me
While I only hoped you were not afraid
But days do pass and inevitable seeds that flower in inevitable spring are picked and taken away to sit in windows in June
Even before July they start to set like the sun and by July the heat pushes down on them so hard that all they wilt can no longer be hidden
And it is then that you do see me
As sure as you see where I once was
For it is July and I have come to fall away
In the light of your window you see the space where I should be
Keep finding each little petal that I had hid in the glass
I was bright and I smiled as you passed me
In July I am brighter and I smile as I pass away
June has come and she has gone
Within the turning of a month I remain a flower
A beautiful flower without vase or narrow glass or food or narrow light or shuddering or pain or falling down to hide
I pass with the sun
Bright light now shining through a larger window
And I only hope that you are not afraid

Sonnet XCV: The Vase of Life
Around the vase of Life at your slow pace
He has not crept, but turned it with his hands,
And all its sides already understands.
There, girt, one breathes alert for some great race;
Whose road runs far by sands and fruitful space;
Who laughs, yet through the jolly throng has pass'd;
Who weeps, nor stays for weeping; who at last,
A youth, stands somewhere crowned, with silent face.
And he has filled this vase with wine for blood,
With blood for tears, with spice for burning vow,
With watered flowers for buried love most fit;
And would have cast it shattered to the flood,
Yet in Fate's name has kept it whole; which now
Stands empty till his ashes fall in it.

A Numbered Poem
2. the mantle is heavy in white.
3. the white cup is not fuming.
4. the lover does not come tonight.
5. an empty vase keeps a shallow
6. conversation with the black clock.
7. there is no flower to brighten
8. the night without a tryst.
9. it is the black clock that ticks
10. time.It is this lament. A cup
11. without tea. A vase without
12. a rose, a daffodil, a white lily.
13. the black clock ticks. There
14. is no hint that it will stop.
That big shell knows it all.

The Bent Flower
There once was a flower,
Who, at an untimely hour,
Began to crook to one side.
The poor little flower,
Would no longer tower,
In the field full of green grass and snow.
But from yonder came a man,
With nothing but a pan,
And sat by the badly bent flower.
And the man sat with the flower day and night,
Helping it get through its plight,
But came the following day.
That within an hour,
The man who sat with the flower,
Was gone like night during day.

Ill Look Around
Cross, cory
Ill look around
And when Ive found me somebody who laughs like you
I know somewhere spring must fill the air with sweetness
Just as rare as a flower that you gave me to wear
So Ill look around
Sweetheart and when Ive found me somebody
Somebody who laughs like you
Ill know this love that Ive been dreaming of
And it wont be the old love that I always knew
Mmm who laughs like you
I know somewhere spring must fill the air with sweetness
Just as rare as a flower that you gave me to wear
So Ill look around
And when Ive found me somebody who laughs like you
Ill know this love that Ive been dreaming of
And it wont be the old love that I always knew

Kochilogy
My daughter
Asks me:
What are
Your favourite
Subjects,
Mummy?
I tell her:
English
History
Biology
Philosop hy
Psychology
And
Kochilogy
She laughs
And giggles
At Kochilogy
And wonders
What may it be
I tell her:
It's all about her!
I love studying
Every aspect
Of her:
How she
Walks, talks,
Smiles :)
Giggles,
Laughs,
Cries, and
Everything
About her
That holds me
By surprise!

Flowers In A Vase
A bunch of flowers
Sat in a vase
Colourful and lonely
A mind looks at them
Wondering
What is it they have to say
Are they a thank you
Or a gift of love
Are they an apology
Or given in remorse
Perhaps they are for nothing
Given to bring a smile
The mind looks on
Wondering for a while
The flowers sit in their vase
Unmoved by thought
Or the reason given to them
A little water at their base
To keep them fresh for a while
They are the end of the day
Just flowers in a vase

I hide myself within my flower

I hide myself within my flower,
That fading from your Vase,
You, unsuspecting, feel for me—
Almost a loneliness.

My Wilted Flower
Your waking dreams
I hear your screams
Of the hour
My wilted flower
All alone
Can’t go home
You must cower
My wilted flower
So much pain
Standing in the rain
You are not of power
My wilted flower
You run away
And there you stay
In the cold rain shower
My wilted flower
Memories of all the hate
Your horrible fate
They no longer tower
My wilted flower
In peace you die
I mustn’t cry
Your last hour
My wilted flower
