The art of interpretation is not to play what is written.

But, I don't think any arranger should ever write a drum part for a drummer because if a drummer can't create his own Interpretation of the chart and he plays everything that's written, he becomes mechanical; he has no freedom.

I Know Their Name

I know their name. I saw their picture in the paper yesterday
I know their name. I saw the story that was written on the page
I know their name. I used to play with them they lived a block away
I know their name. Their father used to drive a light blue chevrolet
I know their name. I used to play with them I swear I know their name.
I know their name. I used to play with them I swear I know their
I know their name. I know their name. I know their name.
I know their name.
I know their name. I saw their picture in the paper yesterday
I know their name. I saw the story that was written on the page
I know their name. They had a dog that used to answer to Barney
I know their name. I used to play with them they lived a block away
I know their name. I used to play with them I swear I know their name.
I know their name. I used to play with them I swear I know their
I know their name. I know their name. I know their name.
I know their name.

I know their name. I used to play with them I swear I know their name.
I know their name. I used to play with them I swear I know their
I know their name. I know their name. I know their name.
I know their name.
I say. I know. I know
I know their name. I know. I know
I know their name. I know. I know
I know their name. I know. I know (their name)
I say:
I I I I I I I know their name. I know. I know. I know their name.

The attitude of the actor is his interpretation of what he reads, and the written word is what creates the role in the actor's mind, and I guess in reading the things that were given to me, I reacted as you guys saw me, you know.

I have the right to interpretation as a dramatist. I research. It's my responsibility to find the research. It's my responsibility to digest it and do the best that I can with it. But at a certain point that responsibility will become an interpretation.

And it was the idea that you can do a play - like a Shakespeare play, or any well-written play, Arthur Miller, whatever - and say things you could never imagine saying, never imagine thinking in your own life.

I do not mind having written the song at all. I just wish that I had written it in a different key, as the high d is hard to play. I am glad that I wrote something that brought joy to millions of people.

Inconsistency

When my head says I have to do this
My heart says another

And I really find this
Matter so disgusting,

How can I be objective to
Something subjective?
How can I not read the law
And apply it
And let poetry
Render an interpretation,

Absurd

How can I set the facts
Straight, punish the guilty
And have no compassion?

How can I not condemn this
Adulterer when all your sins
Go beyond what can be written
On the sand?

I have to decide, heart & reason
Learning the law, like a lover for both.

Oracle

The oracle said we would lose, its message was very clear.
'Abandon the bones of your fathers, your lands, businesses,
Round up your children, gather what articles of worth
Might feasibly be carried on your backs and get the heck out;
For the foe', it said, 'will descend like a whirlwind
Drink your blood and impress who's ever left
Into the vilest servitude.'.
Most believed and prepared to flee. Only one wise, old woman
Reluctant to leave her potato garden, shook a wise, gnarled finger
At the crowd and demanded a re-interpretation
(Which, of course, she got)
'Clearly', said the divines, 'on reconsideration
The oracle meant just to foretell the destruction of the foe';
We, ourselves, had nothing much to worry about
If we'd only take heart, think and manage our resources wisely;
Talk to each other with an extra measure of politeness and agree to agree;
Oh, and build a fleet.
Such was the re-interpretation of the divines.
That was ten years ago. Putting our faith entirely in the oracles
message;
As the divines bid we did, and when the foe invaded, won the day.
Truly these oracles have a way of changing that optimism never does.
Odd. Could it be that oracles are mostly a matter of interpretation?

Games People Play

Girl on a swing

see’s everything,

games that people

play when they

want their way.

Swinging by the

sandbox but knows

not to jump in—

Playing games

like adults is

not the same as

play for kids.

Kids play for fun,

adults play

with lies to hurt

someone.

Maybe only hurting

themselves for they

do not know what they do.

Knowing any better

they would like a fool.

Why Isn't Anyone Obeying The Rules?

Why isn't anyone obeying the rules?

'Rules?
Which ones?
The ones that were in effect,
That have been changed?
Or the ones no one ever obeyed,
After the changes were made...
To make the old ones more effective? '

That doesn't make sense.

'And maybe that's why they aren't being obeyed.

Which interpretation of rules are in effect?
And who's interpretation of those rules,
Should be respected?
If they aren't being followed by those who break them,
To obey,
Then who should say to whom what should be obeyed? '

What?

'Why repeat what is not in existence?
Does a cow drink its own milk,
To obtain stronger bones with a steady dose of vitamin D?
I doubt it.'

And...
Nevermind.
I am so glad I am not seeking explanation!

What We Write Sometimes Strike Us

after a day
i read what has been written

it shocks me sometimes to see
a different picture

bearing another interpretation
of these realities

it is like a tree bearing new surprises
of leaves and flowers

not on its proper season yet
June is usually the month of its fruits

there must be error for the month of May
something strikes me

things pop out, a word a phrase
losing their meanings

faded, and scratched
sometimes i ask, what is this?

this is not it, not me,
how come that it is here?

i drag it in a socket of the bone
to keep it

it protrudes as a fracture
a story with a plot of its own

a poem whose metaphor
anymore, i cannot decipher.

Play To Play

Play to play
Not for home
Not for bed...

Play to
The ground...

Play with
Ball and the bat
OR run and play...

Live your body
Good for health
Have the nice...!

Twice the day
Morning and
Evening go to play...

That is secerat
Of your life
Understand
To try with
Play to play
Day by day....!

Ode To Poetry

Poetry is the best thing since coming out of the womb
Because if I didn't come out of the womb
I wouldn't know about poetry

Poetry's in motion like a freight train
Moving it's words through interpretation
By what we see from what one has written
It can be raw or it can have finesse
Either way it is art

The art of thought
And the art of language
Words speaking of twisted pains
And unraveling beauties
Forgotten love
Or someones duty

I must proclaim my love for poetry
And for the love of everyone else's
Because poetry is much better
Than almost anything else

A few solitary thoughts

I sit browsing a world, virtual yet stylish
I have my headset on
A Tamil song played, which I care not
To escape Mamma`s scoldings, only my aim
To the aim my hopes always go
Filled, my mind with hopes and wishes
And eyes still sleepy, I wish 'not again'
An interpretation to dreams, got my mentor to say
Foolish hopes and beliefs with me to act
In real I know not, what does play
To make them all come true.
Dreams do have boundaries

Elation

Elation
~
How sweetly writ this play
This tale of a found devotion
A heart which soon discovers
It has been blind to the realisation
Of how one already so well known
Yet often sadly unnoticed
Is to be a new loves beginning
How beautifully fair it speaks
To love and romance each word
The eye which finally saw
All that had been missed in days gone
Was as once dreamt beautiful
And so in dedication to such love
A devotion began to serve
That which was to be written
A play of a tale named elation
Set free the eyes and the mind
Do not hold the heart and soul
Set free to realise the beauty
Waiting to be written

Written In Sand

Your eyes are the color of the sea
You look my way and the waves
Wash over me
Your body shivers with the
Fading light
You say, baby, lets just make
It last tonight.
And when the morning comes
You take me by the hand
And say our love is written in sand
Written in sand
We hear the ocean roar
Were swept away on to some
Distant shore
You whisper secrets of the heart
They keep us close when the
World keeps us apart
Until tomorrow comes
Time is on our hands
Because this love is written in
Sand
Written in sand
Solo
Nothing lies between
A woman and a man
When their love is written in sand
When their love is written in sand
When their love is written in sand

You'll Have To Swing It

Mister paganini, please play my rhapsody
And if you cannot play it, won't you sing it
And if you can't sing it, you simply have to
Swing it
I said swing it
Oh-oh-oh swing it
And don't ding it
Oh mister paganini, we breathlessly await
Your masterful dtente, go-o on and sling it
And if you can't sling it
You'll simply have to swing it
I said swing it
And scattywahwah
And wahdyscatla
We've heard your repertoire and
At the final bar
We've greeted you with wild applause
But what a great ovation
Your interpretation
Pat-scoodle-atty-doody yeah yeah yeah
Oh mister paganini, now don't you be a meanie
What have you up your sleeve, go on and spring it
And if you can't spring it, you'll simply have to
Swing it
