You've got to stand up and do your own battles. My daddy taught me that a long time ago, that you fight your own battles. The only way to shut everybody up is to win.

My Almighty Comes To Defend With A Rescue
No more fighting battles.
No more fighting battles.
No more fighting battles from a saddle I no longer sit!
No more fighting battles.
No more fighting battles.
No more fighting battles from a saddle I no longer sit!
No more fighting battles.
No more fighting battles.
I...
Do believe,
My Creator has a plan for me.
Without those battles,
Fought straddled to a saddle.
And I don't,
Fight any battle
Strapped high on any saddle.
No I don't,
Fight any battle
Strapped high on any saddle.
My Almighty comes,
To defend
With a rescue.
And to fight my battles.
Those battles fought from saddles.
My Almighty comes,
To defend
With a rescue.
And to fight my battles.
Those battles fought from saddles.
No more fighting battles.
No more fighting battles.
No more fighting battles from a saddle I no longer sit!
No more fighting battles.
No more fighting battles.
No more fighting battles from a saddle I no longer sit!
No more fighting battles.
No more fighting battles.
My Almighty comes,
To defend
With a rescue.
And to fight my battles.
Those battles fought from saddles.
My Almighty comes,
To defend
With a rescue.
And to fight my battles.
Those battles fought from saddles.
My Almighty comes,
To defend
With a rescue.

The Gash
Is that gash in your leg
Really why you have stopped?
?Cause I've noticed all the others
Though they're gashed, they're still going
?Cause I feel like the real reason
That you're quitting, that you're admitting
That you've lost all the will to battle on
Will the fight for our sanity
Be the fight of our lives?
Now that we've lost all the reasons
That we thought that we had
Still the battle that we're in
Rages on till the end
With explosions, wounds are open
Sights and smells, eyes and noses
But the thought that went unspoken
Was understanding that you're broken
Still the last volunteer battles on
Battles on
Battles on

God's Protection
Each of us has a course to follow,
God knows every cross I bare,
God knows the battles brewing,
He protect me with His care.
God has set the course I follow,
He knows how much that I can bare,
God will help me fight my battles,
When I go to Him in prayer.
God has given me the power,
He has set the course we share,
God will keep me in the battles,
He protects me with His care.
God protects me with His Spirit,
He delivers me from care,
God defends me in my valleys,
When I go to Him in prayer.
God rejoices in my worship,
He protects me from all harm,
God has helped me win my battles,
Wrapped securely in His arms.

My Shoes
If you were to wear my shoes
Would you do the things that I have done,
Fight the battles that I must fight
Or would you turn around and run.
Would you walk the places where I have walked
And take the steps that I have took
As my road has been a hard walked road
Or could you even bare to turn around and look.
Would you confront all that came towards you
And swear to me and GOD that you will never run or hide
Can you stand for your beliefs as I do mine
Or will you hide from them, and keep them deep inside.
If your cheated on, would you confront the cheater
If your lied upon would you stand up and fight
Or would you accept what has been done to you
And try to keep it in your soul, and far out of sight.
My name is my word and my word is my honor
And when I die that's all that I will take
And I fight my battles by myself and all alone,
And no one, will I ever use or will I forsake.
If you tried on my shoes would they even fit
I think that and I know to myself probably not
My journey has been a long traveled road
As what I searched for you had never sought.
You look at my hands and you'll see my pride
In this world of Man I have paid my dues
And on your hands do you see anything at all
But then you have never, walked in my shoes.

We Battle To See Acts Of Love
You can battle any illness you wish...
But,
Battle with the act of love.
You can fill you mind with terrorists...
That keep your fears endearing.
But the fact your battles fought have no love.
And don't you know that you...
The giving up of anything,
Will return.
So why not battle with the act of love.
Burdens carried on one's back,
Seem to be attached...
'Cause they don't do their,
Battles with love.
Those who pick their battles,
Pick their battles without facts.
'Cause many have no protected love.
If there is love,
There is a battle...
But the battle can be won,
With a love that's felt in everyone.
Those who pick their battles,
Pick their battles without facts.
'Cause many have no protected love.
You can battle any illness you wish...
But,
Battle with the act of love.
You can battle any illness you wish...
But,
Battle with the act of love.
Those who pick their battles,
Pick their battles without facts.
'Cause many have no protected love.
Those who pick their battles,
Pick their battles without facts.
'Cause many have no protected love.
If we pick our battles,
We must be matter of fact....
That we battle to see acts of love.
We battle to see acts of love.
Let's say we do it...
That we battle to see acts of love!

Pukllay Harmony Restoration Blood Battles
sport many sports
embody a ritual of combat
trial by body muscles
instead of blood
letting battles in times
of repetitive wars
Andean festival of Pukllay
incorporated a time of ritual battles
between neighboring communities
‘Yawar Mayu' offering river of blood
in restored harmony cleansed a years
ill will between neighboring communities
conquering Spanish outlawed
community ritual battles of Pukllay
continued in remote Andean regions
battles were held at boundaries
between neighboring communities
men from the two communities
gathered to ritual battles fight
while women would sing songs
encouraging their local men
to stand to be brave to not
fear the river of blood
as battle took various forms
two opposing neighboring sides
might throw hard unripe fruit
or men might form opposing lines
strike neighboring men
with their warak'a slings
or fight close with staffs
what was aim important
some blood must be spilt
as an offering to Pachamama
blood offerings
to the great Being
who is mother earth
blood offerings
to the Apus
the Beings
who are majestic
mountain peaks
to Sacred Sites
what if a man died
during ‘Yawar Mayu' fight
a ritual rare event
his body was buried
as further offering on site
to the sacred Beings
in many modern sports skill
courage endurance even blood
is offered up in necessary games
there is a human need to vent
frustrations disharmony ill will
community balance restored

Won are the battles
I like you to my heart;
I can’t spell it out;
I won’t let it out.
Our sojourn is so short;
Our relation is so subtle;
We both know it to be futile.
Sir, why should I care you,
Whom I can’t carry with me,
And with whom I can’t journey?
To love you is a scandal;
To have you in bed is a brothel;
To own you my own is illegal.
Neither single, nor youthful,
Nevertheless with powerful
Spirit and mind, me you rule.
Of what wood was it made?
How old was it in use?
To know you, I have no mood,
For the spear that you pierced
Into my heart is so venomous
That I lost all my senses.
Sojourn is over forever.
It is time for you to depart
For home which is too remote.
Without knowing, you go,
That you punctured my whim
And that you committed a sin.
In a war one alone can win;
Only in courtship can both win.
Still why did you let me lose?
Maybe I lost you in war;
Maybe I lost to you in war.
Still I had won many battles.
Meaningful glances and gestures,
Heartfelt talks and tacit touches
Are those battles to my credit.
Let me be content with the lost war
In that many battles that I won
Stand sweet memories ever as my own.

The Matriarchs
The greatest battles since days of old,
We hear the stories now and then,
As down the centuries their echoes are told.
They're fought by the mothers of men.
The strongest armour their truth will pierce,
A mother's love raised to such height,
That there's nothing exists on earth so fierce.
For him to the death she will fight.
With no hesitation, she will strike his foe,
With him standing next to her tall.
She will teach him to exact justice, as through life they go.
For to balance situations, one and all.
Then she stands back in pride with a smile,
As he forward in battle steps out.
She's taught him to always go just one more mile,
For his foe to seek and rout out.
She'll always be there, on each level exist
For no warrior is e'er so strong.
She will guide his way forward through life's every twist,
Whatever it takes, or how long.
So please never doubt the stories you've heard.
The truth is the same now as then.
The greatest battles there are in this world,
Are fought by the mothers of men!

War?

is the battle to surrender

The battles that count aren't the ones for gold medals. The struggles within yourself - the invisible, inevitable battles inside all of us - that's where it's at.

When life has turned you bitter, and truth you see no more.
We all fight our battles,
we all fight our wars.
We all open chasms,
we all close the doors.
Fight while you can,
fight while you might.
Fight but in vain,
against one's own loveless light.
Victory but a veil,
of lies, treacheries and deceit.
Lie to yourself. Go on,
we all do.
This is now a global war on terror and, indeed, it is important, it is imperative that we win in the battles in Afghanistan and that we win in the battles in Iraq. And as the gentleman from Georgia has mentioned, this is not something that is going to be quick and easy.

Adieu To A Solider
ADIEU, O soldier!
You of the rude campaigning, (which we shared,)
The rapid march, the life of the camp,
The hot contention of opposing fronts--the long manoeuver,
Red battles with their slaughter,--the stimulus--the strong, terrific
game,
Spell of all brave and manly hearts--the trains of Time through you,
and like of you, all fill'd,
With war, and war's expression.
Adieu, dear comrade!
Your mission is fulfill'd--but I, more warlike,
Myself, and this contentious soul of mine, 10
Still on our own campaigning bound,
Through untried roads, with ambushes, opponents lined,
Through many a sharp defeat and many a crisis--often baffled,
Here marching, ever marching on, a war fight out--aye here,
To fiercer, weightier battles give expression.

War Is Never Over
War is never over
Thought the treaties may be signed
The memories of the battles
Are forever in our minds
War is never over
So when you welcome heroes home
Remember in their minds they hold
Memories known to them alone
War is never over
Nam veterans know this well
Now other wars bring memories back
Of their own eternal hell
War is never over
For I knew world war two
And I'll not forget the battles
Or the nightmares that ensue
War is never over
Those left home to wait know this
For many still are waiting
It was their farewell kiss
War is never over
Though we win the victory
Still in our minds the battles
No freedom is not free!

5. Merry Old England
Shining armour tunics bright
A table large and round
Swords pointing to its centre
Where Arthur’s knights be found
Each had pledged allegiance
That will never be forgot
To uphold the rights of justice
In this place called Camelot
Each fought in many battles
You’d often hear them call
We fight in the name of King Arthur
For right and with justice for all
Tyrants they had vanquished
Dragons had been slain
Damsels in their ivory towers
Saved time and time again
At last the knights disbanded
All battles had been won
Back to merry old England
Where King Arthur’s job was done

Not Yet Down
I have wounds too,
Like you do.
Some just take too long
To heal they hurt
For many years,
The pain they birth
Have dried my tears.
I have scars too,
Perhaps you do.
Seems Life's battles -
They do not end
All these struggles
Where Lessons lend
Insight and some truth
There lies the fruit.
I am tired and weary
Like you, maybe.
And yet I find
Strength to punch back
One more time
In Life's Ring
Stand up
And fight!
Till I'm black and blue
But
Not
Down.

Soldier
The soldier, he has many battle scars.
But there's only a few, others can see.
The wounds, they did not kill him,
They made him who he was called to be.
Although some of his battles were easy,
Through each of his battles he died.
The pieces, which were his true enemy.
Were the pieces that did not survive.
When the soldier, he goes into battle,
He must know who his enemies are.
They are the ones that would harm another,
And make the soldier, seem like he, was the star.
It is only once you discover the enemy,
The march to victory, then can begin.
For the war that the soldier is fighting.
Is the battle he fights from within.
In each of us there is a soldier.
And each day, we fight the good fight.
For the ones who walk into victory,
Are the ones who find their true light.

From The Window
Am I not to know or feel the pain,
You went out of your way to inflict upon me?
Am I not to know the sneakiness by which you did it?
Or were you hoping I would dropp to my knees...
To plead for mercy to appease your taste for sleaze?
Who in the hell do you think you are dealing with here?
I've learned to fight my battles on playgrounds.
With mommy and daddy...
Looking on,
From the window!
And I might have left with scars.
But I was not about to leave,
Feeling defeated.
