Maybe I was 7 - I probably am exaggerating a little - and immediately was plunged into the fact that there was an official place to put your fantasies. Up until then I didn't know what I would do with them all. It was very exciting for me, and I began very, very early on.

i always find myself

Thrills
Can there be thrills without soupcon
of fear, can sex in private places
be as exciting as the fun
of sex in public, where disgrace is
a risk sex gamblers like to take
to trump love made inside a closet?
With fear a thrill will raise the stake,
and risk the forfeit of deposit,
and since the fear gets less each time
the thrill occurs, new risks are taken
until they escalate to crime,
where thrills, like fear, are godforsaken.
Inspired by Dan Neil’s review of the Nissan GT-R (LA Times, April 16,2008, “Uptight, outta sight: a marvel of power and speed, the Nissan GT-R is so safe and serene that it is curiously lacking in thrills”) :
[F]for all it’s pants-ripping performance, the GT-R is surprisingly––amazingly––not all that exciting to drive. Oh yeah, there’s epic velocity here, and yet, because there is so much assurance, so many electronic layers of self-preservation, there isn’t much frisson or fear. Without fear there is no fun, which anyone who’s had sex in a public place can tell you…Despite the GT-R’s official nickname, “Godzilla, ” it’s more like 2 tons of fluffy kitten.

Patch-Up
His dog was home Alone
He didn't even have a Bone
He layed there, with big sad Eye's
Waiting for his master and his Lie's
His master Staggered In
Really stinking of Gin
Began to tell his Dog
He's late because of the Fog
Now the Dog began to Grin
He knew lying was a Sin
He looked at his Master
And saw a Big Disaster
The night was clear as a Bell
No fog for miles, as he could Tell
So his master did Lie
I guess this would be Good-Bye
The dog packed his Bags
And got all his Tags
Snook out the back Door
Didn't want to see his master Anymore
That Dog did the best that he Can
And the Master was a real bad Man
So that dog took off, for the better Life
And with that bad Man he would have no more Strife
Two years later the Dog Reappeared
He was expecting the worst, he Feared
But that bad man had cleaned up his Act
And had a wife now, as a matter of Fact
Now that Dog had a big Smile
And waiting in the back all the While
Was the dogs new 'wife' and 'Pup'
Yes, there all together now, a Great Patch-Up

We began to do little things, have little scenes where we just talked about things that had nothing to do with the plot. In fact, in the beginning, they didn't want us to do that. But as time went on, you see that in so many shows. I think we were the first to do that.

My Last New Years Eve Party
I recently moved house to reflect my personal situation,
my neighbours asked me to their New Year celebration.
I didn’t know anyone, so I mingled around for a while
I introduced myself and tried hard to raise a smile.
The guests weren’t the most sociable that I’d ever met
they didn’t want to mingle and get to know me yet.
They were preoccupied and didn’t want to know me at all
I thought I had the plague and was just about to fall.
The back ground music was depressing and very low key,
on the sombre and eerie side to do anything for me.
When I asked about a music change to a happier kind of mood
I received stares and glares, which I thought extremely rude.
It was then that I felt unwelcome and wished I’d gone elsewhere,
and began thinking of an excuse to get the hell out of there.
A young woman approached and said, “It’s much too early yet! ”
“For what, ” I said. “Why, for leaving here without regret.”
“What gives you the impression that I want to leave, ” I said.
“It’s written all over your face and it’s so easily read.
You look way out of place and bored out of your head,
you dislike the music, and the conversation is dead.”
“You’re not wrong, but do you know any of the guests here? ”
“No, I’ve only been to two of their parties this year.”
“I suppose everyone here including you all live close by? ”
“I do, but the others come and go in the blink of an eye.”
“What do you think of the music and the people here tonight? ”
“Oh, I’m used to the music, but this lot are a miserable sight.”
“Isn’t it unusual, everyone’s dressed in their Sunday best
and it leaves me wondering what’ll happen next? ”
At the very first stroke of midnight the morbid music ceased,
everything and everyone’s colour began to be released.
Each chime, brought a greyness and an added translucence,
and by the last chime, everything faded into non-existence.
