Anne Morrow Lindbergh

There are no signposts in the sky to show a man has passed that way before. There are no channels marked. The flier breaks each second into new uncharted seas.

Uncharted Terrain

When I was just a boy
My daddy sat me on his knee
He told me that he loved
Me and that we're a family
He spoke about the world
And all the possibilities
Then he held me in his arms
And said be what you want to be
He paved the way for me to follow
Uncharted terrain now had a name
It's how I got over
When I became a man
My daddy said come walk with me
He said beeing a man
Comes with responsibility
And all is keep your word
To the best of your ability
Then he looked me in my eyes
And said it's time to set you free
He paved the way for me to follow
Uncharted terrain now had a name
It's how I got over
He paved the way for me to follow
Uncharted terrain now had a name
It's how I got over
He paved the way for me to follow
Uncharted terrain now had a name
It's how I got over

Changing Channels

Changing channels
By: jimmy buffett, mac mcanally
1989
Girl of a thousand faces
From a long line of basket cases
Daughter of a fortune teller
Oh the lovely isabella
Chorus:
Shes changing channels
Stayin on her toes
Shes just changing channels
As she goes
This place is full of beachhead sailors
Fishermen and old retailers
Simple lives are so deep seated
And history always gets repeated
Some folks see a birds eye view
Others havent got a clue
Some will go and some will stay
It doesnt matter anyway
Chorus:
They are changing channels
Crazy girls and boys
Theyll be changing channels
Changing toys
Survivors of tidal waves
Children of former slaves
Strange how they all behave
Like its another world
Theres an island in the ocean
Where the people stay in motion
Somewhere on the old gulf stream
Do they live or did I dream
Chorus:
They were changing channels
Waitin for their sails to fill
Theyll be changing channels
Always will
Theyll be changing channels
Waitin for their sails to fill
Theyll be changing channels
Always will
To joseph campbell and bruce chadwick whose words and thoughts were an
Inspiration. to charlie allen and lt. jim amos anderson whose spirits
Linger with me though their days on the planet were far too few.

Uncharted Seas

the storm rages...
the sky dark and angry.
tossed by the waves,
water and salt in my face...

no sign of moon or stars.

following, following,
the song of the sirens...
i've let go of the rudder!

i reach over to
touch your face...
this ship sailing
on uncharted seas.

Men And Man

I

Men the Angels eyed;
And here they were wild waves,
And there as marsh descried;
Men the Angels eyed,
And liked the picture best
Where they were greenly dressed
In brotherhood of graves.

II

Man the Angels marked:
He led a host through murk,
On fearful seas embarked;
Man the Angels marked;
To think without a nay,
That he was good as they,
And help him at his work.

III

Man and Angels, ye
A sluggish fen shall drain,
Shall quell a warring sea.
Man and Angels, ye,
Whom stain of strife befouls,
A light to kindle souls
Bear radiant in the stain.

Evil Nights And Days

*uncharted seas i sailed in gloom
*knocking somberly at the doors of doom
*To lose again means death this time
*is being weak such a crime?
*to lose again means waging war
*that renders my soul and heart so sore
*behind the nameless faces lay hid
*are terrible beasts 'gainst which i bid
*surf i those seas in rampaging storm
*long lost any feelings of safe and warm
*long lost the yellow sun's last ray's
*bring forth the craze bring forth the craze
*of evil nights and days
*of evil nights and days

57 Channels

I bought a bourgeois house in the hollywood hills
With a truckload of hundred thousand dollar bills
Man came by to hook up my cable tv
We settled in for the night my baby and me
We switched 'round and 'round 'til half-past dawn
There was fifty-seven channels and nothin' on
Well now home entertainment was my baby's wish
So i hopped into town for a satellite dish
I tied it to the top of my japanese car
I came home and i pointed it out into the stars
A message came back from the great beyond
There's fifty-seven channels and nothin' on
Well we might'a made some friends with some billionaires
We might'a got all nice and friendly if we'd made it upstairs
All i got was a note that said "bye-bye john
Our love is fifty-seven channels and nothin' on"
So i bought a .44 magnum it was solid steel cast
And in the blessed name of elvis well i just let it blast
'til my tv lay in pieces there at my feet
And they busted me for disturbing the almighty peace
Judge said "what you got in your defense son?"
"fifty-seven channels and nothin' on"
I can see by your eyes friend you're just about gone
Fifty-seven channels and nothin' on...

Storm

I love not when the oily seas
Heave huge and slow beneath the sun,
When decks are hot, and dead the breeze,
And wits are dropping one by one.
But when the South wind fiercely breaks
His frozen bonds and rushes forth
Across the roaring sea and shakes
His icy spear against the North;
When breakers thunder on the lee,
When timbers crash and sails are rent,
When wild and louder grows the sea,
And black the reeling firmament;
O then at last my soul awakes,
A thousand joys within her rise,
And all the bounds of sense she breaks
To soar exulting through the skies.
I love not when my ship of Fate
Glides on before some fragrant breeze,
And slowly tracks with costly freight
The sapphire deeps of prosperous seas.
But when beneath the sky of death
She staggers through the seas of pain,
When passion's hot tempestuous breath
Through shroud and tackle shrieks amain,
When deepening glooms the day o'erwhelm,
And all is one wild wreck of form,
O then resolved I grasp the helm
And proudly guide her through the storm.

Oh, I Will

If I have to upset the cart,
To obtain a clarity of mind
That has not started...
Oh,
I will!

If I have to display disrespect,
To show others I return what I get!
Oh,
I will!

If I have to ask to comprehend,
Anything ignored by others who pretend.
If I have to ask again and again.
Oh,
I will!

I will not take for granted,
Slander passed...
To accomplish a dirty deed or task.
And I don't participate,
In such delivered trash!
And 'if' I have to show my ass...
Oh,
I will.
Without a doubt or a question passed.
Upon THAT...
You can certainly rely!

Nothing Will Be As Wonderful

Nothing will be as wonderful, as that spring had been
the trees were full of flowers row upon row
the water in the channels reflected bright like glass

in the distance seagulls turned around a ship’s mast
flew away in lines above us.
Nothing will be as wonderful, as that spring had been

where your hand had fitted fine and precisely into mine
where I fell more intimately in love with you
the water in the channels reflected bright like glass

we had seen an otter splashing at rocks in the sea
while the boat floated recoiling over the sea.
Nothing will be as wonderful, as that spring had been

where now I reach in vain for you
and forever you are separated from me,
the water in the channels reflects bright like glass

while the hot spring rain, wash away my tears
with dire pain cutting through me;
nothing will be as wonderful, as that spring had been
the water in the channels reflects bright like glass.

Poem-eyes

You’re a walking poem
and it’s like I have night vision
except instead of goggles they are
poem-eyes:
only I can see you,
your arms and legs strings of sentences
bare with candid sincerity,
your hair tangled weaknesses
curled with a simile
and eyes of endearing desire
marked with a metaphor,
poetic sentiment hanging off you
like unwashed clothes.
Your mouth breathes out symbolism,
when you walk, the line breaks jingle
and when you hug me I can feel myself
being wrapped in a charming mystery
that sounds so pretty when read aloud.
When you stop, I stop
and gather all the fallen words
in a basket I keep around my waste
marked Beauty.

SIgnposts

Let us spin this signpost
Then choose where we shall go
So where our path will take us
We will never know
That's not until we get there
But that could take some time
So don't believe in signposts
They're just a state of mind.
