Man seems to insist on ignoring the lessons available from history.

The very concept of history implies the scholar and the reader. Without a generation of civilized people to study history, to preserve its records, to absorb its lessons and relate them to its own problems, history, too, would lose its meaning.

The so-called lessons of history are for the most part the rationalizations of the victors. History is written by the survivors.

What experience and history teach is this - that nations and governments have never learned anything from history, or acted upon any lessons they might have drawn from it.

Tales of my past
Don't write me down in history,
In reference to my past deeds,
Works I derived no joy from,
Or mistakes of those years.
Don't write me down in history,
The ages gone show little of what I am,
That part of me is truly done,
My dreams now can say it all.
Don't write me down in history,
The lessons of life flows in my blood,
My blunders are now my teachers,
The scars now my daily pledge.
Don't write me down in history,
I am yet to achieve perfection,
Still I strive for redemption,
Searching the soil for my lost glory,
Don't write me down in history,
The tales of my past I recall,
That was then, this is me,
Woes to your judgment.

Shades Of Gray
Black is black and white is white
A pragmatist most likely to insist
Ignoring shades of gray he might
For ingrained is a nature to resist

God sometimes grants your prayer to punish you....
do not insist. God has a way of punishing
your unreasonable widow
persistence, the Greeks are warned
about Wooden Horses,
and Achilles' heels,
do not insist. Don't you know that sometimes
God grants prayers
purposely to punish
those who are hardheaded?
Pray what God wills you to be.
Do not insist.
God knows better
Before you were born
He knows what is in store for you
Till the last
breath. Till you dropp dead.
So do not insist
Natural laws cannot be compromised.
Legal laws maybe.
Man made ones, those that twist
and pride on
Compromises.
Do not insist. Let God flow inside your
Heart. Let the seeds grow
As he sets the fertile soil
of the mind
As he gives the light in your
Sun.
As he prunes and cuts
and Makes you
The most beautiful tree
within the forest of your tangled
hairs.

This Has Been Their Lives
Choosing to accept things as they are in isolation...
Enhances one's desperation,
To separate in misunderstanding.
When things 'controlled' get out of hand.
It becomes difficult for them to comprehend,
Others more powerful,
Have use misguided power over them.
Choosing to be set in ways,
With lessons taught as lessons to stay.
This stubbornness unresisted decays.
And those who insist,
This self centeredness should persist.
Will discover themselves living deeper in conflict.
As truth and its reality continues to drift away.
Leaving those with values of fading substance...
To become left in darkness.
And feeling much betrayed.
As light shows deceptions they embraced.
More and more they fear!
With no escaping from it near.
Since this has been their lives endeared!
And these standards now fast erasing...
They have kept in place.

Black History Month
In January...
There they are making history.
In February...
There they are making history.
In March...
There they are making history.
In April...
There they are making history.
In May...
There they are making history.
In June...
There they are making history.
In July...
There they are making history.
In August...
There they are making history.
In September...
There they are making history.
In October...
There they are making history.
In November...
There they are making history.
In December...
There they are making history.
But...
It's nice to know
The shortest month of the year
Was chosen to celebrate
The great deeds of African-Americans!
However...
It is those LEAP YEARS,
That really have the blacks jumping for joy!

Ignoring Many Hints Of Trouble
Remember when the truth was spoken,
And...
The people who spoke it dismissed.
Remember when the truth was spoken,
And...
The people who spoke it dismissed.
Ignoring many hints of trouble,
Only makes those troubles double up!
With a change of leadership,
It is believed by many a return to greed and prosperity...
Is within their reach to have it repeated.
However...
It is not the current leadership,
That drove their lives into the pits.
Or purchased their persuasions with investments made...
In monopolized businesses.
No!
That monkey sits on the wrong shoulders.
Those known in positions of leadership,
Are just pawns used regurgitating rhetoric.
With hopes to keep following sheep distracted.
Remember when the truth was spoken,
And...
The people who spoke it dismissed.
Remember when the truth was spoken,
And...
The people who spoke it dismissed.
Ignoring many hints of trouble,
Only makes those troubles double up!
Remember when the truth was spoken,
And...
The people who spoke it dismissed.
Remember it?
Remember it?
Ignoring many hints of trouble,
Only makes those troubles double up!
Ignoring many hints will double troubles.
Ignoring many hints will double troubles, up!
Ignoring many hints will double troubles.
Ignoring many hints will double troubles, up!
Ignoring many hints will double troubles, up!
Ignoring many hints will double troubles.

Poets’ Occupation
You insist on some occupations to grasp,
Yet lying has happened for some time.
The understanding is full, fulfilling us,
As men who bear the pains insist on us.
The warriors of controversy shake us
Around the jugular veins, where there is a deity;
The deity is wrong, fulfilling nobody
Just as skies are around to tempt.
May we insist on the men of old,
Poets who are strong and never gaining;
The ends of the story are folded
Into many chambers of the heart.

History why do we care
History
a famous person dies
History
a war rages
History
a new invention
History
a building opens
History
what happens if something happens to me
is that history?
no....
So why do we care.....

One Earth
From birth our curiosities seek to investigate...
That which we observe as buds to flourish.
To then take to initiate a quest to comprehend.
Serving a mind that is attached within.
As we explore we test those limits.
And ignoring any danger others may insist.
We live to experience life and that which God 'is'.
To discover and learn; share and give.
For those who believe on a growing tree,
Certain leaves should not exist to be encouraged.
Are not themselves rooted to accept,
That dirt from one Earth is where we are nourished.

All Ignorance Toboggans Into Know
all ignorance toboggans into know
and trudges up to ignorance again:
but winter's not forever,even snow
melts;and if spring should spoil the game, what then?
all history's a winter sport or three:
but were it five,i'd still insist that all
history is too small for even me;
for me and you, exceedingly too small.
Swoop(shrill collective myth)into thy grave
merely to toil the scale to shrillerness
per every madge and mabel dick and dave
--tomorrow is our permanent address
and there they'll scarcely find us(if they do,
we'll move away still further:into now

Lesson In Love
I'm not proud, I was wrong
and the truth is hard to take
I felt sure we had enough
but our love went overboard
lifeboat lies lost at sea
I've been trying to reach your shore
waves of doubt keep drowning me
All the dreams that we were building
we never fulfilled them
could be better, should be better
for lessons in love
For restless eyes egos burn
and the mold is hard to break
now we've waded in too deep
and love is overboard
heavy hearts token words
all the hopes I ever had
fade like footprints in the sand
All the homes that we were building
we never lived in
could be better, should be better
lessons in love
if we lose the time before us
the future will ignore us
we should use it, we could use it, yeah
Lessons in love
Lost without love...
Lessons in love
When will you ever learn
Lessons in love
When there's nowhere left to turn
Lessons in love
Don't let your spirit burn
Lessons in love
I'll wait 'till you return
All the dreams that we were building
we never fulfilled them
could be better, should be better
for lessons in love
All the homes that we were building
we never lived in
could be better, should be better
lessons in love
if we lose the time before us
the future will ignore us
we should use it, we could use it, yeah
lessons in love
