Genetics is crude, but neuroscience goes directly to work on the brain, and the mind follows.

The neuroscience area - which is absolutely in its infancy - is much more important than genetics.
Anyway, there is a lot of really interesting work going on in the neuroscience and psychology of consciousness, and I would love to see philosophers become more closely involved with this.

It must be born in mind that one does not see directly - as is the case in the exploration of the surface of the brain - where the electrodes are attacking.

A Trinity
the brain, mind and me
it has to be a trinity
three entities sailing
the cosmos trying
to outdo each other
the brain is generous
letting the mind wander
in and out while me - i -
try to work out the best deal
in the crowdy sojourn
the brain tinkles with
god's act of
predestination
sealed in tightly, foolproof
you think you are in control
yet in the end you have to
concur you are way out of hand -
one mystic takes you
by the head, one other
slips in and out
the brain keeps itself known
sometimes in touch
sometimes out,
sometimes even trying
to let you know
the pool of secrets
it holds over you
all nervous you could only wish
you are out of this bewildering
soul draining situation

Actually, I think my view is compatible with much of the work going on now in neuroscience and psychology, where people are studying the relationship of consciousness to neural and cognitive processes without really trying to reduce it to those processes.

You may think me crude, and probably I am crude, but I am not so crude as I was, for I am clever enough to see that the girl of nineteen who thought herself a genius was only an unusual girl writing her heart out.

An Array And Plethora
An array and plethora,
Of love...
Is too diverse for me.
I like it,
Directly!
An array and plethora,
Of love...
Is too diverse for me.
I need it,
More directly!
I want to know that which is given,
Has no loopholes I could miss.
I want to know my feelings felt,
Aren't pushed aside to dust on shelves.
An array and plethora,
Of love...
Is too diverse for me.
I like it,
Directly!
When I'm wrapped in a hug,
And my lips are kissed...
I like it,
Directly!
When I see eyes on me melt with mist.
I like this...
Directly!
I like to know that which is given,
Has no loopholes I could miss.
Oh,
I like it more directly.
I like to know that which is given,
Has no loopholes I could miss.
And...
I like it more directly.

Astonishing
Thinkers are posed with the question, is there a soul? Maybe
They approach an answer through neuroscience:
The synapses are passed on in death
To some universal warehouse;
There, accumulated, they bubble and squeak for many
Worlds to employ,
Recreating different or perhaps identical souls,
Spanning the white light awaiting,
The feeling of Love everywhere,
The joyous occasion when all hearts are one,
And the perfect balance of nature and brain coalesce.

Most intellectuals today have a phobia of any explanation of the mind that invokes genetics.

When it comes to exploring the mind in the framework of cognitive neuroscience, the maximal yield of data comes from integrating what a person experiences - the first person - with what the measurements show - the third person.

To One Who Bade Him Work
EACH day Work bids my heart anew,
Fold wings and watch my brain at play;
But brain and heart will fly your way,
And find their natural home in you!
Come to me--'tis the only way!
For heart and brain have had to learn
Such carrier-pigeon feats of flight,
That were you here, my heart's delight,
My brain and heart to Work would turn,
Spread wings, and flutter from your sight.

If It's Love!
It's important that unshown love,
Comes directly shown from you.
To say it...
Doesn't make,
That-love-be-true!
It's important that unshown love,
Is a thing one wants to do...
Just to prove what is said,
Is absolutely true.
A hug,
And maybe a kiss.
A touch,
That has been missed.
A show of thoughtfulness...
Can go a very long distance.
A call,
Every once in a while...
Will go further than a mile.
If love is there to be shared...
Show someone they are cared for!
And doubts will come no more.
It's important that unshown love,
Comes directly shown from you.
To say it...
Doesn't make,
That-love-be-true!
It's important it's directly shown,
If it's love.
Yes!
It's important it's directly shown,
If it's love.
Yes!
It's important it's directly shown.
It's important it's directly shown.
It's important it's directly shown,
If it's love!
It shoos a boo-hooin'...
Known.
It's important it's directly shown.
It's important it's directly shown.
It's important it's directly shown,
If it's love!
A hug,
And maybe a kiss.
A touch,
That has been missed.
A show of thoughtfulness...
Can go a very long distance.
It's important it's directly shown.
It's important it's directly shown.
It's important it's directly shown,
If it's love!

Lost in the Cycle
Work work work work, work work work work, work work work work
STOP
and
do
nothing
'cause there is nothing to do
even though there is always something to do
but why would you do that?
Stay up
No sleep
Go to sleep
Peace
Except not
Because the brain still says 'Go! '
When you say
'No!
Rest! '
No Rest
Come back to consciousness?
You never left,
did you?
Begin repeat

We Grow And We Die
May we die as we have delivered,
Natures of the brain are compact;
Nested in the rights of Our Word
Is the brilliant brain and the well-spoken heart.
May we die like the spring and not winter;
Offered to the mind is the brain,
For they both grow with each other,
Finding strength to resolve a certainty
That we have delivered.
The death of someone is a brain,
The mind has much to consider.

A brain or brainless
A battle of brain is never won
it has weighted as heavy ton
it can't be wasted or simple gone
it is to be kept in mind or borne
A brainy child can shine from the beginning
it is long and powerful inning
There will be equal morning and evening
colorful life with bright shining
There is nothing to hide and seek
it is unpardonable weapon of the weak
A person has no power to speak
he can't ride a ladder and reach to the peak
Honey bees and butterflies too work very hard
it is job of brain to look always forward
what brainless can do other than to polish
he has nothing to as he is already finished
Everything has two sides to represent
no one can work if any thing is absent
sometimes people with brain create unruly scene
such abnormality is never observed or seen

Too Much To Think About
Sister help take this pain from my heart
Help me stand up and find out whats right
Dont want to exist here in the dark
When the gates of eden offer so much light
But theres too much to think about
Too many problems in my brain
Yeah, theres too much to think about
How could I ever make up my mind
Young man lay down your guns
And hold your woman in your arms
The concretes not worth dying fo
They say theres more to this life
But theres too much to think about
Too many problems in my brain
Yeah, theres too much to think about
How could I ever make up my mind
So what am I living for
They say the truth is not hard to find
Its right here in front of my eyes
If I could just open my heart sometimes
But theres too much to think about
Too many problems in my brain
Yeah, theres too much to think about
How could I ever make up my mind
But theres too much to think about
Too many problems in my brain
Yeah, theres too much to think about
How could I ever make up my mind
Make up my mind
Make up my mind
Make up make up my mind
Make up make up my mind
