Five years ago we were working on a new album when my health began failing.

The Squeezing Of The Stone
dad waited 8 years
to tell him that
cancer had infiltrated his body-
dad waited 8 years to tell him that
he had done anything about it-
dad had to stop working &
when he put money in the market
under close supervision of someone
whom he thought would help him out,
the whole fucking thing
collapsed,
like the house of playing cards that it was,
leaving only the kings & queens as always
to walk off scot-free
at a brisk pace
holding bags of money &
plane tickets-
dad's money gone &
inability to work as he once did,
he began to watch all that he owned
leave his grasp
after working so hard for so many years
to do without credit &
to stay afloat the best that he could,
raising kids in the meantime &
saving that money for when times got tough,
for when he got old-
and so with less than 20 grand in the bank
he can't shell out the money for the shots anymore,
not to mention the radiation-
the stone can't be squeezed for blood to help
there's just nothing left &
another great man will die because
america has no universal health care for its
citizens.

For the second album I look forward to doing a lot of serious collaboration and taking the experiences I've had over this last year, good and bad, and working it into the album.

I decided that now is the time to start doing the things that really interest me and I find important. It was in the 10 years of the MacArthur grant that I began working on my first book... and I began putting more work into environmental history.

I began the process of recording myself seriously in the fall of 1999. If I could finish an album of my own music, I would. Five years later I am happy to say I have.

Going Down Slow
(by st. louis jimmy)
I have had my fun if I never get well no more.
I have had my fun if I never get well no more.
All of my health is failing;
Lord, Im going down slow,
Im going down slow.
Please write my mother and tell her the shape Im in.
Please write my mother and tell her the shape Im in.
Tell her to pray for me,
Forgive me for my sin,
For all of my sin.
On the next train south, look for my clothes back home.
On the next train south, look for my clothes back home.
cause all of my health is failing;
Lord, Im going down slow,
Im going down slow.
All of my health is failing;
Lord, Im going down slow,
Im going down slow.
Feel like Im going, like Im going down slow.
I feel like Im going, like Im going down slow.
I feel like Im going, like Im going down slow.
I feel like Im going, like Im going down slow.
I feel like Im going, like Im going down slow.

We have always tried to treat every album differently and even from day one I think that each Asia album has been approached with care and thought and hopefully that shines through twenty years later.

This is an album of songs that I've always loved, tunes that I heard. For the first time in 53 years of recording, I really had control over an entire album, start to finish.

I began to hate
I was born a righteous man
Just like you, I'm a loving man
When you stole my land from me
I began to hate
I began to hate
I began to hate you and your children
I began to hate you and your friends
I began to hate with a passion
Maybe I am simply old fashioned
I feed my kids multiple hate pills
Then send them down the road to kill
This is the message I want to instil
Hate
Hate without debate
Hate, Hate, Hate
Hate like the darkness
That resents the day
In the land you took away my wealth
Along with my loss went my health
How can a man learn to love and forgive
When you have not returned
What you were never meant to receive
So I began to hate
I began to hate
I began to hate you and your children
I began to hate you and your friends
My children are taught to hate
Obey questions without debate
With their last breathe they dedicate
A moment of hate

An Album From My Memory Store
Today I dipped into an album
from my memory store
as a place that seemed familiar
triggered off the memories.
The years then rolled back
and I was there again
some forty years ago.
Faces flickered passed
gone now but never forgotten.
The good and bad times
rolled by in unison.
For a few moments
while that album was open
it held a mystic I’d never known
and left me wondering
where were the faces I knew then,
and where were they now.

I loved the last album, and it was one hundred percent me. But this is like me two years later, who understands a little bit more about music and understands a little bit more about making an album. I wrote a lot more.

When we finish this tour we are going to begin writing and go into the studio to hopefully have a brand new Foreigner album out in early spring next year. This will be the first Foreigner album out in about ten years.
After I had been working as a cap maker for three years it began to dawn on me that we girls needed an organization. The men had organized already, and had gained some advantages, but the bosses had lost nothing, as they took it out on us.

Missys Finale
Yo, you have come almost to the close of my album
But before I go I just wanna thank God for staying with me
Through my ups and downs and through my whole period
Of doing this album, I want to thank timbaland who came up with
The beats and all the people who appeared on my album
Make it hot, aight, Im out

We'll probably be working on another album in the next few months here.
With this new album, I prepared for it a long time, and I was happy with the songs and the production. I felt that I proved myself with the first album, and with this new album, I just want to share some of my music. And that was always my feeling and my intention.

The dove act? I'm still working on it. I don't think it's perfect yet. I got my first pair of doves when I was 14 years old. That was the beginning of the formation of that act. So it's been 24 years now that I've been working on it.
