The Athletic Association competed against the University. So there was an event. You cannot break world records unless it is an established event, and you have three timekeepers, and the whole thing is organized.

I think the sport of wrestling, which I became involved with at the age of 14... I competed until I was 34, kind of old for a contact sport. I coached the sport until I was 47. I think the discipline of wrestling has given me the discipline I have to write.

Soul Brother (Freddy)
Well there is this guy who is my soul brother, you might be thinking what in the world is that, well he is like my twin brother but were not related.
He is who always keep me going and helps me stand up when something is bad.
This guy, has competed my sentences, helped me alot with my problems, explain to me stuff in Purple language, and put up with me for 4 years.
We share the same birthdate, our love for 3DG, and a great intrest for writing.
All I can say is I am gonna miss him a bunch, I mean there is not alot of people who put up with me..
Freddy, thanks for everything you have done for me you are a real brother to me..
I love you, from your only sister, Purple! ... :)

Dreams Aspire to Reach the Sky
Sports men and women ready
All wanting to aspire to their dreams
Each with goals to set
Within their own teams.
In an Olympic event
On the track ready to run
Making sure you don't come last
People cheering you on.
In a moment of peace
Like when Doves fly
Tears flow down their cheeks
As dreams aspire to reach the sky.
2012 They came to London
They competed, they won and lost
Returned to their own countries
Memories forever embossed.

do you remember how we competed for a painting contest
in high school?
i was always looking at you for inspiration,
you were so beautiful
i got near you to make a scent
of your black silky hair
you were looking at me too
perhaps my black curly hair
complimented yours,
we were drawing something what our parents
did not tell us
it was too late for us to know
their love
was theirs not ours to follow
the year comes talking to me
my very own beautiful sister
how could i have loved you?
nature's foolishness played
a prank on me again,
but no, i didn't mind, my heart
knows how to love anew
it has its own feet to walk me
away and start loving for some
exciting beginnings.................

A Friend Sends Her Perfumed Carriage
A friend sends her perfumed carriage
And high-bred horses to fetch me.
I decline the invitation of
My old poetry and wine companion.
I remember the happy days in the lost capital.
We took our ease in the woman's quarters.
The Feast of Lanterns was elaborately celebrated -
Folded pendants, emerald hairpins, brocaded girdles,
New sashes - we competed
To see who was most smartly dressed.
Now I am withering away,
Wind-blown hair, frost temples.
I prefer to stay beyond the curtains,
And listen to talk and laughter
I can no longer share.

He Played to the Last String
Beads of sweat rolled, gleaming backs shook and twirled
Logs of fire added, pure smoke rose
In chorus, their voices went in unison, best steps competed
The jingles punctuated, and drums went in frenzy
His fingers danced with the harp's strings that made them wild
Alas, in crescendo, strings gave way one after and after.
Jingles and a string had to make it now, his voice punctuated
Infectious, in chorus they had applauded!
He PLAYED TO THE LAST STRING beamed the headlines.
A role in movie popped, he signed!

Top Honors
I 'use' to wish this,
But I didn't attend...
Or graduate,
Like a few I once knew...
From the,
'Do What You Can To Impress Me School'.
And I was bullied and bullied too.
Back then we were taught,
That's what kids do.
So if it does appear that I am uncouth,
Well...
Attribute that to my rude and inconsiderate attitude.
And I know it's not cool,
But trust me...
Where I come from challenges are confronted,
There were few I knew who chose to run.
That was not done.
And I was among those students,
Who fought to receive top honors.
With a validating of my street props.
And no tears did I then drop,
Since mom and pop use to brag...
About butts they kicked,
To have the bulleying stopped.
Hey,
In those days...
Children played and competed,
On many levels of reality to face.
With a learning how in this world...
To grow.
And up,
In an environment of hands-on teachers,
With fists to leave unmistakable lessons.

With An Unabashed Bragging Done
You have a beautiful home,
Landscaped in a wonderful setting.
You have a family and prized possessions,
And investments you have made...
That have returned to you sweet dividends.
You drive a very nice car.
And your taste in fashion is exquisite.
You receive countless social invitations,
With an unabashed bragging done...
Whenever I visit.
And yet...
You express an insecurity about that,
Which implies an unhappiness.
I have none of your 'assets' to impress.
But...
I am thrilled.
And this seems to make you upset.
My path and direction taken,
Has had nothing to do with you.
Is there something about my own decisions made...
You believed I secretly,
Competed with you with something to prove?
And I have accomplished 'that' which I said I would do?
What is it?
'I was hoping you would fail.
In fact,
You have made me feel the fool.'
Well...
You did make that your choice.
And those choices you have made,
Surround you too.
We all make our choices.
Some are not so pronounced,
As those of others...
Who love to show and tell with a strut.

I Beat You Because I Love...
Every day after school
Mom! Let's race home...
The lil boy would say to his mom
Mom would say ok...
Mom would run as fast as she could
To beat the lil boy home…
He'd cry …mom! ! ! !
You left me…you didn't let me win
You never let me win!
You're a mean mommy
She'd only respond with
If I let you win, you would never learn the lesson
What lesson mom?
She'd smile and walk away
Come on baby, its lunch time…
Few years down the road
The lil boy is now a teenager…
Mom! Let's play chess…
Mom would say OK
She beat him so bad
That he got mad and knocked the board over
MOM! You could have at least let me get close to winning
You're a mean Mother!
Nope! Then you would never learn
Learn what MOM?
Come on son, it's time for dinner
The teenager is now college graduate
Comes home to visit Mom
Mom, I got news…
I was offered a job
At one of the most prestigious law firms in America
They took the top five students
I was #1
Are you surprised Mom?
Mom: Not at all Son.
Mom, I got the lesson. Nothing in life will be given to me
I have to work hard and fight for everything I want and have. And you letting me
Win would have weakened me. So you always competed with me like you were the world
And you were teaching me how to survive in it...
Touché` mom Touché`

Lovely Mistake
Marriage, often a mistake,
can be a lovely one.
In marriage you can have your cake
and it eat––oh what fun! ––
although it isn’t perfect––what
on earth is that? It can
be lovely though it may be not
precisely what a married
man or woman would describe
as peachy. It is carried
like remainders after you
divide, but better not divided.
Mistakes, though multiplied,
in marriage should not be derided,
and always should be eyed
as much part of the territory
as what in Eden’s Garden stood,
the famous Error Tree
without which Eve and Adam could
not have lived lovingly.
Inspired by what Michael Tilson Thomas, in a concet program called “The Thomashefskys” says his grandmother, Bessie Thomashefsky, once told him about her marriage with her husband Boris, whom she left when he established a liaison with a beautiful Romanian Jewess called Mrs. Zuckerberg who, he told Bessie, reminded him of her when she was young girl. Bessie married Boris when she was less than sixteen and was undeterred by his multiple liaisons with his many fans until Mrs. Zuckerberg came along. But even though she left him and even competed with him on different stages she told her grandson: “Our marriage was a beautiful mistake.” Bessie was at Boris’s bedside when he died.
