If you be a jester, keep your wit till you have use for it.

The Jester of Joy
I am the Jester of Joy,
A nomad of peace,
From the Land of Not.
Entertainer of souls,
A servant to man.
I am the Jester of Joy,
Mine is to spread joy through the world.
I make they who smile, laugh,
They who sulk, smile,
And I can try the tears of they who cry.
I am the Jester of Joy,
I reach out to touch at least one person,
To touch their heart with love.
I strive to touch for at least a moment,
To fill their life with joy.
I am the Jester of Joy,
And I have dream,
Of the world seeing as I do,
Through the eyes of joy,
For the better world it would be.
I am the Jester of Joy,
This is my purpose, my life, me.
For I am a servant to man,
Entertainer of souls,
The Jester of Joy.

Sometimes There's Three
There’s two sides to every story
And sometimes there’s three
You can take a trip around the world
To simply cross the street
I know, ‘cause that's what happened to me
Laugh, laugh
Even the jester has to laugh
When everything turns upside down
It sometimes helps to laugh
There's two paths on every journey
And sometimes there's three
You can meet your fate on the same road
You took to avoid it
I know, 'cause that's what happened to me
Laugh, laugh
Even the jester has to laugh
When everything turns upside down
It sometimes helps to laugh
And at the crossroads, don't turn and look away
Let it kiss you on the face
And then have a laugh
There’s two women in your life
And sometimes there’s three
You can make a wish upon a star
Only to find it land in your street
I know, ‘cause that's what happened to me
Laugh, laugh
Even the jester has to laugh
When everything turns upside down
It sometimes helps to laugh
There’s two people fighting for your mind
And sometimes there’s three
Each mask you wear at different times
Till one fits comfortably
I know, ‘cause that's what happened to me
Laugh, laugh
Even the jester has to laugh
When everything turns upside down
It sometimes helps to laugh
And at the crossroads, don' turn and look away
Let it kiss you on the face
And then have a laugh

But that's different
The jester jests: He plays the role
we are conditioned to accept.
His sly insults though dry and droll
conceal much malice I suspect.
If he should chance to pick on you
as target for his vicious tongue
Then act as you’re expected to.
Just smile pretend to play along.
He seems to pick unerringly
On those who have something to hide.
Exposes secrets fleeringly
Though some would say he’s justified.
But when the jester picks on them
Adopt a different stratagem.

Place to Party
The merriment spreads across the place,
Capturing like magnetic objects, this is the superior job.
One languid participant relaxes in the corner,
Like someone achy and without vigour of the party.
The air is jellified with sweat and perspiration,
One jester relies on the sweet air that he cancels
His home-made stunt. Instead of abolition,
The drunken party-goers arrest the menu
And divide the spoils of war,
One other lanky jester motions to the sick
To feed on something extravagant
And not concern themselves with the present hovel
They are in.

The Fool
Alive in an ocean
A world that I didnt see
I walk the world backways
Its aways the same ballgame
Thats out of mind
Out of the living world
Out of time
I break all the rules
They call me a fool
I cartoon in motion
A hero pretends no pain
A clown slipping backwards
You laugh at anothers shame
But I dont mind
I know Im limping low down
I dont mind
Winners or losers
Its all just a game
And Im going down
And Im strolling down
Life and an answer
The key to an open door
Admiting Im laughing
Living Im limping more
Its out of mind
Out of the living world
Out of time
Winners or losers
Its always a game
And Im going down
But Im strolling down
To rout around
And around, and around
To round round
Theres a cloud
Theres a cloud
So...the fool has found the golden key
So...its waiting there for you and me
Just a fool, a street jester
The hero of society
Just a fool, a street jester
Look at me, now cant you see
A life in emotion
A world Im glad I didnt see
A cartoon in motion
A key to the same day
I dont mind, Im here to know
I wanna go go go go go
So...the fool has found the golden key
Its so...its waiting there for you and me
Just a fool, a street jester
The hero of society
Just a fool, a street jester
Look at me, now cant you see

Painted Smile
I can sing
I can dance
Just give me a chance
To do my turn for you
Theres a change Ill slip
But with stiff upper lip
Ill sing a song for you
Laughter is free
But its so hard to be a jester
All the time
And no ones believing
Im the same when Im bleeding
And I hurt all the time deep inside
Ive shed a tear for the lying
While everyday trying to
Paint this smile for you
Backflips, cartwheelings,
Somersault feelings
What is there left to do
Laughter is free
But its so hard for me,
A jester all the time
No ones believing
Im the same when Im bleeding
And I hurt all the time deep inside
Roll up, roll up
Enjoy the show
Pick me up, wind me up, put me down
Youll see me go
And this painted smile
May miss for a while
Then come back and steal your show
I sing, I dance
Give me a change to do my turn for you
With backflips, cartwheelings,
Somersault feelings
Whats there left to do
Laughter is free
But its so hard to be a jester
All the time
No ones believing
Im the same when Im bleeding
And I hurt all the time deep inside
Laughter is free
But its so hard to be a jester
All the time
No ones believing
Im the same when Im bleeding
And I hurt all the time deep inside

Au Jardin
O you away high there,
you that lean
From amber lattices upon the cobalt night,
I am below amid the pine trees,
Amid the little pine trees, hear me!
'The jester walked in the garden.'
Did he so?
Well, there's no use your loving me
That way, Lady;
For I've nothing but songs to give you.
I am set wide upon the world's ways
To say that life is, some way, a gay thing,
But you never string two days upon one wire
But there'll come sorrow of it.
And I loved a love once,
Over beyond the moon there,
I loved a love once,
And, may be, more times,
But she danced like a pink moth in the shrubbery.
Oh, I know you women from the 'other folk',
And it'll all come right,
O' Sundays.
'The jester walked in the garden.'
Did he so?

Pay The Man
See the way the wind blows
Lives are intertwined
Watch the way the world goes
The man deals out our plight
Jester in the corner
Laughs without a sound
Jester in the corner
Malady abounds
In our souls
See the way the sun sets
Twilight of this life
The man is making little bets
Playing with our lives
All that I believe now
Anything is possible
A simple explanation
For the evil in this world
And in our souls
In our souls
Come down to sorry and sable
It's always the man
Always keeping you down
Bow down cause I see it before me
Shadow and light
That always keeps you running
Shut up you talk too much
Pay the man
Shut up you talk too much
Look at you and your struggle for freedom
But you ain't nothing
We all pay the man for living
Wouldn't it be nice for a change now
To be unchained
My life is for me now
But this is life
Pay the man
Shut up you talk too much
Pay the man
Shut up you talk too much
Pay the man

Change The World
Ive seen ya mum while she stared in the sun
She was high
Reach in ya bag of tricks and pull another one
Your only saving yourself so dont try and save the world
Ohhhhhhhhh I like cheese so dont be a hero

Laughs without a sound
Jester in the corner
Malady abounds
In our souls
See the way the sun sets
Twilight of this life

Till I Go Down
Till I go down
Till I go down
Till I go down
Im not gonna shut my eyes
Till I go down
Im not gonna shut my eyes
Ive already seen the lies
On the faces of the men of war
Leading people to the killing floor
Till I go down
Till I go down
Till I go down
Im not gonna shut my eyes
No no
Till I go down
Till the world stops spinning around
Till Im six feet under the ground
Till theres no sound
Till theres no pain
Im gonna swing this chain
Till I go down
Im not gonna shut my mouth
Im for the truth to come out
About the leader with the iron will
And his allegiance to the dollar bill
Till I go down
Till I go down
Till I go down
Im not gonna shut my eyes
Till I go down

Later Tonight
You wait till later
till later tonight
You wait till later, till later
till later tonight
That boy never cast a look in your direction
Never tried to hook for your affection
Dresses like the mod of your invention, tall and proud
He is the head boy of the school of thought
That plays in your intentions, night and day
And you wait till later
till later tonight
You wait till later, till later
till later tonight
And you wait till later
till later tonight
You wait till later, till later
till later tonight
cause tonight always comes

Sonnet 6
Raise your glass! and carry on!
Forget the day's problems and smile.
Laugh and love till morning's dawn.
Let us all make it worth our while.
Meet the jester so full of tricks!
Painted faces and fairies play.
Drunken crowd nothing to risk.
The music plays all night and day!
A lady smiles and pours more ale,
Dancer's continue into the night..
A well to do man tell's his heroic tale
We are young with no real fright.
Our private world of renaissance faire,
And for tonight we shall drink and forget to care!

I learned from my dad that when you walk in front of an audience, they are the kings and queens, and you’re but the jester — and if you don’t think that way, you’re going to get very, very conceited.

The Rower's Chant
ROW till the land dip 'neath
The sea from view.
Row till a land peep up,
A home for you.
Row till the mast sing songs
Welcome and sweet,
Row till the waves, outstripped,
Give up, dead beat.
Row till the sea-nymphs rise
To ask you why
Rowing you tarry not
To hear them sigh.
Row till the stars grow bright
Like certain eyes.
Row till the noon be high
As hopes you prize.
Row till you harbour in
All longing's port.
Row till you find all things
For which you sought.

Ballad of Dead Friends
As we the withered ferns
By the roadway lying,
Time, the jester, spurns
All our prayers and prying --
All our tears and sighing,
Sorrow, change, and woe --
All our where-and-whying
For friends that come and go.
Life awakes and burns,
Age and death defying,
Till at last it learns
All but Love is dying;
Love's the trade we're plying,
God has willed it so;
Shrouds are what we're buying
For friends that come and go.
Man forever yearns
For the thing that's flying.
Everywhere he turns,
Men to dust are drying, --
Dust that wanders, eying
(With eyes that hardly glow)
New faces, dimly spying
For friends that come and go.
ENVOY
And thus we all are nighing
The truth we fear to know:
Death will end our crying
For friends that come and go.
