Even if the wound is healed, the scar of it remains.

Wound
a wound will always
be a wound.
a scar may come
to say you are healed
but soon it will
remember the wound.
perhaps you have not
loved enough
to learn from those
whose hearts
are broken, they
say: forgive and forget.

There is something beautiful about all scars of whatever nature. A scar means the hurt is over, the wound is closed and healed, done with.

Ch 08 On Rules For Conduct In Life - Maxim 60
Mendacity resembles a violent blow, the scar of which remains, though the wound may be healed. Seest thou not how the brothers of Joseph became noted for falsehood, and no trust in their veracity remained, as Allah the most high has said: Nay but ye yourselves have contrived the thing for your own sake.
One habitually speaking the truth
Is pardoned when he once makes a slip
But if he becomes noted for lying,
People do not believe him even when speaking truth.
Old scar, new scar
Old scar, new scar
Stitched together by excellent tailor
Old scar on the hand
New scar on the head
Same pain, different trouble
First came shock
Then hurt became blue
Blue’s gone leaving scar
Old scar, white scar
New scar, hidden well
When morning’s gone, nights always come
Craving old scar, leaving new scar
Old scar, new scar
Stitched together by excellent tailor

Finally Free
The wound has healed
The scars are sealed
I can't feel it
Anymore
She can have you
I don't care
I'm am finally free
With nothing to hinder me
Do as you like
Do as you please
But nothing you do can hurt me
Watching you with others
Makes me smile
I am healed

A hero of his clime
This morning, as I cut into
the tough flesh of the huge tomato
with its brown, half-healed scar
like an old sabre wound from some great battle,
the thought came, if you can call
a vegetable, heroic, and why not,
then this old bruiser is a hero…
its red proud chest so stalwart set,
saying, I saw the season through..
come rain, come shine, come wind
and foul weather - what’s going on these days? –
I saw it all – and more than that –
I grew it – my way… and if they said,
as mortals do –
as if they knew a tom that’s true –
you’re not for us – I’ll say to you –
I saw two thousand seven through -
I lived it – my way…

If Only
I cut my finger when you left the room,
The wound has healed long since then.
But the finger keeps bleeding, keeps bleeding
For reasons unknown to me.
I heard me stutter when you left the room,
The wound has healed long since then.
But my mind keeps stuttering, keeps stuttering
For reasons unknown to me.
If only I could remember
The tune I was whistling that day,
If only I could remember
The streets I had walked that day,
If only I could remember
If only, if only.
I saw me crying when you left the room,
The wound has healed long since then.
But my soul keeps crying, keeps crying
For reasons unknown to me.
If only you could tell me
Why Im smoking myself to death,
If only you could tell me
Why Im working myself to death,
If only you could tell me,
If only, if only.

The marks of sorrow
The marks of sorrow
Scar the faceless sky
Each cloud a wound
Each wound a sign
Of things no more
Quivering up in lines
Countenance shades
The Moon impaled
On blades

Scars of the ego.
The fall of the leaf is the scar of the tree.
The scar indicates the tree’s seasoned strength.
The loss of the love is the scar of the ego.
The scar reminds the ego of its worth

Droplets of roses
when the droplet
floats down the
petal of the red rose
it opens an old wound
deep and which never
really has ever healed
a wound red as blood
time has taken
into its hands and
shrouded around
like petals do to the rose
so that when it blooms
it opens the way to
both cheers and pains

After That Love Long Gone
this i will tell you or i may not tell you at all
i have to think about a choice
i still have the scar, call it a souvenir.
whatever that is,
a proper word fitting like dado joints
my pride is
i am healed.

A Memory
my white hair
always speak of you
it is your beauty
that it brags
to my forehead
whose furrows
lead me to a pond
of sweet memories
the ripples there
speak of the rain
and the rain sings
about this pain
the pain shows me
a scar
the scar remembers
the wound
that you inflicted
and i was that man
who believed
that once love existed.

When the wound is healed the pain is forgotten.
A wound never heals so well that the scar cannot be seen.
Every Rose Has Its Thorn
We both lie silently still
In the dead of the night
Although we both lie close together
We feel miles apart inside
Was it something I said or something I did
Did my words not come out right
Though I tried not to hurt you
Though I tried
But I guess thats why they say
Chorus:
Every rose has its thorn
Just like every night has its dawn
Just like every cowboy sings his sad, sad song
Every rose has its thorn
Yeah it does
I listen to our favorite song
Playing on the radio
Hear the dj say loves a game of easy come and
Easy go
But I wonder does he know
Has he ever felt like this
And I know that youd be here right now
If I could have let you know somehow
I guess
Chorus
Though its been a while now
I can still feel so much pain
Like a knife that cuts you the wound heals
But the scar, that scar remains
Solo
I know I could have saved a love that night
If Id known what to say
Instead of makin love
We both made our separate ways
But now I hear you found somebody new
And that I never meant that much to you
To hear that tears me up inside
And to see you cuts me like a knife
I guess
Chorus
