Mapping The Reef
It wasn't so long ago, that Google mapped the earth;
Now they are mapping the world, way below the surf.
Very soon, we'll all get the chance to virtually explore
The Great Barrier Reef, on the Pacific Ocean's floor.
Visitors will soon be able to explore the hidden depths,
Without all the aggro of getting their hair soaking wet.
Around the Great Reef, they will soon be able to roam,
Without ever having left the comfort of their cosy home.
They'll be able to explore the Reef on a computer screen;
Eco-tourism: they'll hit the very heights of going ‘green.'
By their virtual visit, The Reef won't be further disturbed;
But the visitor's excitement will be very seriously curbed.
Nothing can ever quite beat experiencing The Reef for real;
Nothing can ever replace the excitement, or the total thrill.
This massive coral reef, boasts so many amazing features;
It bursts with life, in the forms of both plants and creatures.
Being there, in person, you can watch the coloured fish hurtle,
And spot other creatures, such as, giant clams and sea turtles.
Nothing quite beats seeing it all with your very own eyes:
You'll experience the sheer wonder, and the adrenalin highs.
If visitors get the chance to experience The Reef ‘in the flesh',
By its outstanding beauty, they will not fail to be impressed.
To see The Reef, in real life, not everyone will get the chance,
But now, thanks to Google, we'll all be treated to a virtual glance.

Great Barrier Reef
I travelled to the Great Barrier Reef,
A whale was offering day-trip adventures.
He swam very fast and the journey was brief,
But he did a breach and lost his dentures.
Lots of other seals were there,
And quite a few humans too.
There was insufficient coral to share,
It was busier than at London Zoo.
I swam around a bit of coral,
It sparkled in many hues,
If this poem had a moral,
It would be to avoid the queues.

The coral reef. The solidarity of tiny creatures creates rocks that often break ships.

Nothing
The truth comes over me
Like wine, like summer heat
The world, it moves too fast
I miss my simple past
And I can see
For all the things I think I need
Brother take me out to where the reef ends
Where theres only, only green sea
Brother take me out to where the reef ends
I only want to want
Nothing
Child, she knows its good
She plays the way she should
Her days, they taste like lime
She moves in perfect time
And I can see
For all the things I think I need
Brother take me out to where the reef ends
Where theres only, only green sea
Brother take me out to where the reef ends
I only want to want
Nothing, nothing, no
Theres no promises
Today is all there is
And I cant see
For all the things I think I need
Brother take me out to where the reef ends
Where theres only, only green sea
Brother take me out to where the reef ends
I only want to want
Nothing, oh nothing, nothing

A Dream In Atlantis
In the distance you notice a flickering light.
It grows brighter and larger as you slice your
way through the cold water.
What can it be?
Soon a glowing coral reef reveals itself.
You can almost compare the light it emits to daylight,
so strong is it.
Much to your astonishment you find
the reef molded into what seems to be buildings.
There are arch ways,
what seems to be windows and wait...
what’s that?
A person?
You’ve spotted a merman!
Someone like you now.
And there are more of them!
They notice you and suddenly
several of them torpedo towards you at great speed.
For the first time in your dream
you are frightened.
They come bearing smiles however,
each one of them funneling around you
as they swim up,
twisting their bodies around yours
without touching you
and finally halting above
of you as they conclude
what seems to be a greeting.

O Sailor, Come Ashore
O sailor, come ashore,
What have you brought for me?
Red coral, white coral,
Coral from the sea.
I did not dig it from the ground,
Nor pluck it from a tree;
Feeble insects made it
In the stormy sea.

Potassium Nitrate Bombs
'75% plus of world fisheries
are fully exploited or over fished
others are completely fished out
how were some fisheries terminated?
Potassium Nitrate bombs
destroy natures beautiful coral reefs
indicted is stupidity greed
no reef no fish'

Bad Fish
When you grab a hold of me
Tell me that Ill never be set free
But Im a parasite, creep and crawl I step into the night.
Two pints of booze
Tell me are you a badfish too? are you a badfish too?
Aint got no money to spend
I hope the night will never end
Lord knows Im weak
Wont somebody get me off of this reef
Baby your a big blue whale
Grab the reef when all duck diving fails
I swim but I wish Ive never learned
The waters too polluted with germs
I dive deep when its ten feet overhead
Grab the reef underneath my bed
Its underneath my bed
Aint got no quarrels with God aint got no time to grow old
Lord knows Im weak
Wont somebody get me off of this reef
Aint got no quarrels with god. aint got no time to get old
Lord knows Im weak
Wont somebody get me off of this reef

Cookies
Banished by an elixir of blue
The childhood angel
You believe in cookies
You leave me for broken cisterns
My heart is a coral reef
Colors filled with true life
Pain has formed the sea
Love is standing guard
Time rolls like the tide
We are friends with bars
Will you hold me?
I need some cookies

Hydro Land Oddity
send shark teeth to float
away
i have always been swimming to
no[ ]way
tell the fish to breed
waves
and for anyone’s sake word-feed
Wales
break the coral reef stand in
way
you are riding the seahorse
backwards
i’ m climbing the seashore mountain to
Norway
let the parachuting priest dropp onto his
wage
I wish you every

on your way to the

Watch out lest the canoe land on a rocky reef.
To The Land
To the land of bribes,
To the land of telephones,
To the land of corruptions,
To the land of trains,
To the land of shops,
To the land of thieves,
To the land of connections,
To the land of drugs,
To the land of trucks,
To the land of cats,
To the land of Banks,
To the land of dogs, To the land of footballers,
To the land of dragons,
To the land of hope,
To the land of ice-cream,
To the land of potatoes,
To the land of chocolates,
To the land of tomatoes,
To the land of apples,
To the land of coffee,
To the land of lights,
To the land of ships,
To the land of birds,
To the land of tigers,
To the land of carpets,
To the land of pillows,
To the land of lions,
TO the land of toys,
To the land of horses,
To the land of beds,
To the land of roses,
To the land of love,
To the land of passion,
To the land of romance;
I never new women do snore until i married one.

A Flower To Auroville Mother-92
Kodiroja(Coral vine, Antigonon leptopus)
White Coral Vine(Antigonon leptopus 'Alba')
I sowed in my childhood
Eager I waited and stood
You grew into my heart
High to the Lord's feet
As high As Him so good
I can feel Him pleased
Your floral aura filled
Pinkish bracts guarding
Subdued flowers smiling
Thickened greens appeased
Coral, grow fast and wild
Slender tendrils upward
Hearty leaves in bushes
My heart well in clutches
Viny coral, twist entwined

Over the coral sea
Above & below the coral sea
we don't condescend
with what's below
as tomorrow will be
another day
when we go
below the coral sea
The Red Sea
no, colours
a kaleidescope
of our spectrum
most miss
lest it's on tv.
We go do it
my mate and l,
the fish, the corals,
no need to bet
'cos one can see
that,
that mainly
covers our planet,
that which lies
beneath our sea
a beauty most never see..

The Islet And The Palm
O gentle sister spirit, when you smile
My soul is like a lonely coral isle,
An islet shadowed by a single palm,
Ringed round with reef and foam, but inly calm.
And all day long I listen to the speech
Of wind and water on my charmed beach:
I see far off beyond mine outer shore
The ocean flash, and hear his harmless roar.
And in the night-time when the glorious sun,
With all his life and all his light, is done,
The wind still murmurs in my slender tree,
And shakes the moonlight on the silver sea.

A School Of Losers
the school of losers
gather one day in the sea
at the reef
under the anemones
on a drinking spree
of sea
and foams
having done nothing
about their loss
they simply talk about
other matters
those trivial ones of course
stories about losers
their lives
and irredeemable
selves
i do not pity them
i think it is just a waste of time
under the sea
on the reef
with the anemones
the jellyfishes are coming too
sooner.

To a Poet Caught in the Will of the Sea
... tell nothing
in the flush of your fear
speak no word that the sea may hear
trust to it no name call no one
enemy or friend utter not one sigh
to snag on a reef
or curl round the coral keep
furl song in your throat tales of fire
laughter and ice cram in your
brimful eyes confess nothing
in the crest of your fear
lock up your tongue
that when it chill fingers
reach deep to pluck out your heart
make no sound not one prayer
vault your voice
telling the wind nothing nothing
to the very end nothing...

Beyond The Reef
(words & music by jack pitman)
Beyond the reef where the sea is dark and cold
My love has gone from me and my dreams grow cold
Therell be no tears, therell be no regretting
Will she remember me, will she forget?
Ill send a thousand flowers
Where the trade winds blow
Ill send my lonely heart for I love her so
Some day I know, shell come back again to me
Till then my heart will be beyond the reef
Ill send a thousand flowers
Where the trade winds blow
Ill send my lonely heart for I love her so
Some day I know, shell come back again to me
Till then my heart will be beyond the reef
Till then my heart will be beyond the reef
