Our incomes are like our shoes; if too small, they gall and pinch us; but if too large, they cause us to stumble and to trip.

A shoe that is too large is apt to trip one, and when too small, to pinch the feet. So it is with those whose fortune does not suit them.
Walking In My Shoes
i would tell you about the things
They put me through
The pain i've been subjected to
But the lord himself would blush
The countless feasts laid at my feet
Forbidden fruits for me to eat
But i think your pulse would start to rush
Now i'm not looking for absolution
Forgiveness for the things i do
But before you come to any conclusions
Try walking in my shoes
You'll stumble in my footsteps
Keep the same appointments i kept
If you try walking in my shoes
Morality would frown upon
Indecency looked down upon
The scapegoat fate's made of me
But i promise now, my judge and jurors
My intentions couldn't have been purer
My case is easy to see
I'm not looking for a clearer conscience
Peace of mind after what i've been through
And before we talk of any repentance
Try walking in my shoes
You'll stumble in my footsteps
Keep the same appointments i kept
If you try walking in my shoes
Try walking in my shoes
Now i'm not looking for absolution
Forgiveness for the things i do
But before you come to any conclusions
Try walking in my shoes
You'll stumble in my footsteps
Keep the same appointments i kept
If you try walking in my shoes

Small ills are the fountains of most of our groans. Men trip not on mountains, they stumble on stones.
The Shoes
The shoes were placed
row on row,
large and small,
some with laces,
some without,
black and brown.
If shoes could speak,
if their leather tongues
could pronounce words,
what hard histories
they could tell,
what deep sadness
they could relate,
and there at Auschwitz,
Anny Horowitz’s shoes
lay silent, cast off,
forcefully abandoned,
left to their fate,
no history told,
no biography to relate.

Why You Wanna Trip On Me
They Say I'm Different
They Don't Understand
But There's A Bigger Problem
That's Much More In Demand
You Got World Hunger
Not Enough To Eat
So There's Really No Time
To Be Trippin' On Me
You Got School Teachers
Who Don't Wanna Teach
You Got Grown People
Who Can't Write Or Read
You Got Strange Diseases
Ah But There's No Cure
You Got Many Doctors
That Aren't So Sure
So Tell Me
Why You Wanna Trip On Me
Why You Wanna Trip On Me
Stop Trippin'
We've Got More Problems
Than We'll Ever Need
You Got Gang Violence
And Bloodshed On The Street
You Got Homeless People
With No Food To Eat
With No Clothes On Their Back
And No Shoes For Their Feet
We've Got Drug Addiction
In The Minds Of The Weak
We've Got So Much Corruption
Police Brutality
We've Got Streetwalkers
Walkin' Into Darkness
Tell Me
What Are We Doin'
To Try To Stop This
Why You Wanna Trip On Me
Why You Wanna Trip On Me
Why You Wanna Trip On Me
Why You Wanna Trip On Me
Ooh Stop Trippin'
Yeah Stop Trippin'
Everybody Just Stop Trippin'
Why You Wanna Trip On Me
Why You Wanna Trip On Me
Why You Wanna Trip On Me
Why You Wanna Trip On Me
Stop Trippin'
Why You Wanna Trip On Me
Why You Wanna Trip On Me
Why You Wanna Trip On Me
Why You Wanna Trip On Me
Ooh Stop Trippin'
Yeah Stop Trippin'
Everybody Just Stop Trippin'
Stop Trippin'
Stop Trippin'
Stop Trippin'
Stop Trippin'

I too, have got shoes
Have you seen shoes on children here
No shoes for other children
No shoes for your children
My uncle said to my dad
I lost my shoes—small shoes
from then on
My feet crushed the thorns
from then on
The city was taken from me
But not me from the city
from then on
Many years later my shoe remover died
And I got back my shoes
Bigger shoes—for crushing thorns
from then on
I cat walked in them
And went to bed in them
from then on
I got the city back
Even when I stayed there
from then on
Believe me I too have got shoes
And I slip my feet in them
But not for sleep anymore
Yes I too have got shoes
Other children wear shoes
My children wear shoes
Wear shoes why not
Why not why not why not why not
Shoes in the cot
Shoes to school
Shoes to the market
Shoes to the office
Why not wear shoes

I thought I would dress in baggy pants, big shoes, a cane and a derby hat. everything a contradiction: the pants baggy, the coat tight, the hat small and the shoes large.

Little Goody Two Shoes
You can take a powder, you can take a drink
You can keep the shrink and the kitchen sink
You can write my name in heaven in invisible ink
Just leave a feeling when theres no time to think
Little goody two shoes is here to clinch
You can miss by a mile or you can miss by an inch
Dont move a muscle, baby, dont even flinch
Or little goody two shoes will feel the pinch
You can tear me under, you can give me lip
You can tear me over, you can give me the slip
You can take off everything or tear me off a strip
With a bullet in the chamber and another in the clip
Little goody two shoes is here to clinch
You can miss by a mile or you can miss by an inch
Dont move a muscle, baby, dont even flinch
Or little goody two shoes will feel the pinch
Just when you thought you got what you deserved
Just when its time to stop trying
A voice says, boy, have you got a nerve--
Why do you have to keep crying and crying?
You can take me outside, you can take me apart
You can take me upstairs, you can take me to heart
You can take the decision that its time to depart
Dont try to stop me when you told me to start
Little goody two shoes is here to clinch
You can miss by a mile or you can miss by an inch
Dont move a muscle, baby, dont even flinch
Or little goody two shoes will feel the pinch

All Fall Down
What can you tell me, of the perfect man.
What can you tell me, now I dont quite understand.
We lose our grip, we glide and stall.
Some things come easy, some dont come at all.
We chip away at the perfect man.
What can you show me, now I dont quite understand.
Eye to eye nothing left to say
But will you really throw it all away.
We trip, we stumble, and we all fall down.
Things go wrong, though are strong.
We slip, we fumble, and we all fall down
Round and round, we all fall down.
Sometime....
No matter how we try to keep things straight.
It makes no difference, while we cause our fate.
We burn our candle unaware.
While on our knees we cry in prayer.
We trip, we stumble, and we all fall down.
Pain wont last, this too shall pass.
We slip, we fumble, and we all fall down
Round and round, time and time, again.
But ahhhh,
If its so simple then explain to me.
How pain is so close to ecstasy.
How change can make you feel so free.
Ahhhh,
If we were meant to be such perfect fools.
Then why do we always break the rules,
Crashing through lifes scenery.
We trip, we stumble, and we all fall down.
Angry cries and desperate lies.
We slip, we fumble, and we all fall down
Hearts to mend, sun comes up again.

Fairy Revels
Pinch him, pinch him, black and blue,
Saucy mortals must not view
What the queen of stars is doing,
Nor pry into our fairy wooing.
Pinch him blue-
And pinch him black-
Let him not lack
Sharp nails to pinch him blue and red,
Till sleep has rocked his addlehead.
For the trespass he hath done,
Spots o'er all his flesh shall run.
Kiss Endymion, kiss his eyes,
Then to our midnight heidegye
Stars didn't have to worry as they were on long term contracts and were able to enjoy their vacations without worrying about tomorrow. Few had financial worries due to large incomes and little taxes.

The Shoe Lace
It goes over and under
Still you barely ever wonder
Just how it may tie your shoes
Without them your shoes may die
You can say it do not matter
The fact of the matter
Is that they may be little and small
But they keep your shoes together after all
The lace is a luxury to society
And never get a hint of reality
When stuff hits the fan
And they aren't there for you to stand
on
Off goes one shoe
Now another
That makes two
So just think what will you do
If your laces weren't in your shoes

(Can't You) Trip Like I Do
I've got the understanding of a 4-year-old
I've got the piece of mind of a killer soul
I've got the rationale of a new york cop
I've got the patience of a chopping block yeah
trip like I do
trip like I do (oh my god this is the best)
I've got the acumen of a season broke
I've got the lack of say of a billion souls
I've got the world on my back but I don't seem to care
I've got the comprehension of a world unaware yeah
trip like i do
trip like I do (oh my god this is the best)
trip like i do (mm..i want you to trip like i do)
can't you, can't you trip like i do
can't you, can't you trip like I do
laid down my back i can't sleep cause I'm falling
eyes in my teeth i can't see cause i'm eating
head full of noise I can't think cause it's crushing
back on my feet like a freight train I'm coming
can everybody feel like I do
can everybody feel like I do (oh my god)
can't you can't you trip like I do
can't you can't you trip like I do (oh my god)
can't you trip can't you think can't you feel like I do
can't you walk can't you breathe can't you trip like I do...

The Sweetest Songs Of Peace
the angels have come this early morning
in the little room
in this little house
in this little island
in my little time
now they are singing the sweetest songs of peace
while i am sleeping
i must be dreaming
pinch me, pinch me
the islands line themselves like boats
like men and women in an array
in the order of things
lining up in this system
they are listening
i must be dreaming
pinch me! pinch me!
wake me! wake me up!
i must be dreaming

Morning Streets
Muddied pools soak shoes
on grey pavements
as men in suits walk by
and children's voices squeak.
I sit inside a metal box,
a small car (Eco friendly)
reliving last night's sexy treats
a saucy smile on my lips.
Mothers run their kids to school,
workmen whistle, loud and rude
but all I muster is
a sleepy stare.
Traffic roars as rain cascades,
fashion trends float by,
as mindless plebs dropp litter
on the streets.
Jail bait girlies, half nude, all tattooed
wearing killer, ladies shoes,
totter by the bus stop
as men's eyes glaze and pop.
Last nights drunks look pale faced now,
swaying along crowded roads
as if they're doing
tangos in the breeze.
They rock and roll and trip and fall
looking ragged in the dawn
as hungry dogs
use legs as their latrines.
Shops throw up their blinds at last
as pensioners join morning queues
and police car sirens blast,
confounding brains.
I pull into the drive at work,
some guy's blocked my way, the jerk,
and stumble in
to grab my morning tea.

Catch My Fall
I have the time so I will sing yeah
Im just a boy but I will win yeah
Lost song of lovers fellow travelers yeah
Leave me sad and hollow out of words
It could happen to you so think for youreself
If I should stumble
Catch my fall yeah
If I should stumble
Catch my fall
Catch my fall
If I should stumble
Catch my fall
If I should stumble
Ive traveled and unwound my own truth yeah
Ive laid my head on the rock of youth yeah
Ive trusted and then broken my own word
Just to keep me free in this mad, mad word
It could happen to you so think for youreself
If I should stumble
Catch my fall yeah
If I should stumble
Catch my fall
Catch my fall
It could happen to you so think for youreself
If I should stumble wont yoc catch my fall yeah
If I should stumble catch my fall yeah
If I should stumble would you catch my fall
If I should stumble catch my fall

People don’t trip on mountains, but they sometimes stumble on stones.
One Wished. One Had. One Glad It's Gone
When I think of you and trust,
I am thinking of us and no one else.
But Lately I am cautiously near you,
With suspicion...
I wish would go away.
What did you do when you did it?
I've been so blindly romancing you.
I stumble over my own fantasies!
When I think of you and Lust!
I...
Whew! !
Would you like that graphic?
And detailed?
I...do...not...hear...you.
'Why should I respond?
What's going on in your head and mine,
Are on two separate journeys.'
Where was I when 'that' happened?
'Not listening. Thoughtless. Uncaring and distant.'
And where did 'you' go?
The 'you' I thought I knew.
'I'm not going to waste a 'trip' on you.
We've been through that.
And...
Where do I go?
When did you start caring about that? '
So..
What was done you did,
Had to have been recent.
You have lost desire, passion...
And,
Don't say 'committment'!
'I will whisper it!
And maybe 'then' it will connect,
In your head.'
When I think of you,
I stumble over my own fantasies.
I am thinking of us and no one else.
I've been so blindly romancing you.
I stumble over my own fantasies!
When I think of you...
Now.
And what was done you did...
Whatever you did do...
I could not desire you without passion.
And well...
What 'is' committment?
'One wished. One had. One glad it's gone.'
