On Their Days Of Lament

the lady with a black veil
is asking: how could you send the clowns
for us to laugh
when we are still mourning?

and the clown was there quick with
an answer: a big smile as big as the half moon
an acrobatic skill like a boneless earthworm

why should sorrow be overwhelming
when happiness is there
aplenty
lurking at every door of
thought?
