No Sun or Moon

Shadows cast over shadows
until they’re the darkest black.
When will the Earth be as before,
when will the light be back?

It’s months since we’ve seen the sun
and our skins are turning white.
The food and water is running out
and we desperately need the light.

Will we ever see blue skies again
and I would love to see the moon?
What can we do with the darkened sky
something better happen soon?

Women are giving sex for nourishment
and some are still having kids.
What future do these children have
with their cribs of dustbin lids?

I would love to look on the brighter side,
but in a world of darkness this cannot be.
I think the best thing that we can do
is dig a hole for you and me.
