Lewis Mumford

Without fullness of experience, length of days is nothing. When fullness of life has been achieved, shortness of days is nothing. That is perhaps why the young have usually so little fear of death; they live by intensities that the elderly have forgotten.

Only Promise

Sadly, the only promise he made to me
Was for my life to be safe, hazards absent
And away, utterly nothing to do with life.

Hoping a new direction in life
Is a happiness since you achieve
Existence as much as glass.

The hazard of breaking this glass
Really reports our perils, our dangers
And our jeopardy. This is all I can say.

Song of Life

Maiden of the laughing eyes,
Primrose-kirtled, winged, free,
Virgin daughter of the skies—
Joy—whom gods and mortals prize,
Share thy smiles with me!

Yet—lest I, unheeding, borrow
Pleasure that to-day endears
And benumbs the heart to-morrow—
Turn not wholly from me, Sorrow!
Let me share thy tears!

Give me of thy fullness, Life!
Pulse and passion, power, breath,
Vision pure, heroic strife,—
Give me of thy fullness, Life!—
Nor deny me death!

The Circuitous Route Of Existence

i should have stopped
a long time ago, i should have ceased
like a light feeding upon itself
a candle eating all its
body of wax,

i should have done it earlier, quit and leave
and not look back,

i never did it, and there must be a reason
an explanation for this addiction,
a justification for moving on,

i am not saying that it is you,
neither myself,

perhaps it is this emptiness that is seeking
fullness

this fullness that empties itself because it is not at comfortable
when things are heavy
on a journey,

perhaps it is a circle,
and there is no knowing where to start where to end
nothing marked,
all the same, dance of life, monotonous, consuming,
and yet never knowing....

Play all part

Fool is having two wives
Still pathetically he lives
Life may go on with same assigned role
Peace may never be had even if called

Is the life not like circus?
Everything is like mirage and minus
Yet we strive hard to maintain dignity
May be life is another name for continuity

In circus we play all parts
Limited time to play and depart
Yet leave behind the simple fact
Life has to be based on real acts

No one can afford to take it lightly
As some has said it rightly
Life is so uncertain and not in our hand
Everybody must be treated as close or friend

As show nears the end with long applauds
You have mission accomplishment and feel proud
No one may ever think of hazards involved
As life is known to have some facts to revolve around

So Little Of Our Life Really Remembered

SO LITTLE OF OUR LIFE REALLY REMEMBERED

So little of our life really remembered Almost all we have lived is as if it never were-

We cannot really live again in all its fullness
The life we have known-

Memory is a shorthand
And what we write with it

Always a somewhat different poem

Than the one we have lived.

Woe Here

A sombre and woeful day has arrived for life,
Inside me I speak, and often we stay like spears;
Outside the hazards outlive us, for the storm,
And arrest us O Sun for the acts offered by life.

A woe has arisen on this daylight hour,
Forming hours of enjoyment, of living energy;
Guess the adjustment understood by some,
How guessing is erring I do not know.

Fixed Work

Good works never die, they carry no weather,
For the hazards that bring discomfort are fixed,
And the deeds of nature are as fortunate as Beauty,
Dense clouds are above us saying the burden of water.

May we never be death, as the lives of offerings are sweet,
Fixtures are made, productions are run, and the creation did come,
Under the sea and over all the planets,
So that hazards are brought to the back of the throat.

O death!

O death!
Thou great leveller
Of titles before a name,
Of degrees after a name
Of wealth and of poverty

O death!
No hearing or seeing
No tasting or smelling
No feeling or thinking
No suffering or celebrating

O death!
No body or soul
A spirit-filled life
A life of knowing in a different way
A life of relating in a different way

O death!
No life as we know it
No space as we know it
No time as we know it
But life experienced in all its fullness.

O death!
O death, where is thy victory?
O death, where is thy sting?
From being deciduous
We’ve become evergreen.

A short poem on life

Life is a gift
life can be cruel
life can be kind
life can be hard
life can be tough.
life is mysterious
life is strange
life is complex
life is weird.
life has twists
life has turns
life has ups
life has downs.
life for good
life for bad
life for war
life for peace.
life and love
life and hate
life and growth
life and death.

Lady Grinning Soul

Shell come, shell go. shell lay belief on you
Skin sweet with musky odour
The lady from another grinning soul
Cologne shell wear. silver and americard
Shell drive a beetle car
And beat you down at cool canasta
And when the clothes are strewn dont be afraid of the room
Touch the fullness of her breast. feel the love of her caress
She will be your living end
Shell come, shell go. shell lay belief on you
But she wont stake her life on you
How can life become her point of view
And when the clothes are strewn dont be afraid of the room
Touch the fullness of her breast. feel the love of her caress
She will be your living end
She will be your living end
She will be your living end
She will be your living end
She will be your living end

A Drink

With glass, I am a man – or so I think! –
A role to play when blessed with courtly drink:
A gin or two, then vintage port or wine
To pep me up and gift me with a shine.

I know it’s false, as I now must depend
Upon my daily shots with open end.
Insidious, it all becomes routine
To beg a drink each day for self-esteem.

She and Drugs

Freshly spawned,
Brain dumps
Bleeding grey:

Reflections of a mind
That wavers thin
Along the line
That savours pain -

A pond of skin
Devoid of breast -
The pad a feign:
The nothing
Underneath your bra
At best
Is your imagination

Spread across a narcoleptic world
Suchlike survival
In and out
Of haunted woods;
In and out -
You're in and out
As blood transfused -
Pumping on
To ooze at pace
Upon another haemorrhage

And there! a goblin
Here! a goblin
Care to entertain a goblin
In the lair
That is a mind
Of drugs? -

We know it's you -
It's you we know.

We know you're through.

Mighty Hazards

Mighty rivers blow hard on their surroundings,
The environment relays special images of discontent.
It freezes on you, your livelihood has suffered,
Possible fuel has been achieved all on you.
May the virtues so loved be actualized,
May these devilish hazards be forgotten.

A loose rope has fallen, too mending of you,
For you missed it falling and landing,
Living with the sea and its boats afterwards.
Mighty rivers go, many livers are so gained
By the benches of surgeons, and their knives.
The hazards of water render us unfortunate.
