Ebony And Ivory

EBONY & IVORY"
Words & Music by Paul McCartney
Ebony and Ivory live together in perfect harmony
side by side on my piano keyboard, oh Lord, why don't we?
We all know that people are the same where ever we go
There is good and bad in ev'ryone,
we learn to live, we learn to give
each other what we need to survive together alive.
Ebony and Ivory live together in perfect harmony
side by side on my piano keyboard, oh Lord why don't we?
Ebony, ivory living in perfect harmony
Ebony, ivory, ooh
We all know that people are the same where ever we go
There is good and bad in ev'ryone,
we learn to live, we learn to give
each other what we need to survive together alive.
Ebony and Ivory live together in perfect harmony
side by side on my piano keyboard, oh Lord why don't we?
Ebony, ivory living in perfect harmony (repeat and fade)

Harmonic accord

When ebony and ivory
combine in keyboards they provide
cacophony or harmony.
Its up to you must decide.

You find one colour limits you
in what you can and cannot play
You wisely choose to use the two.
Because there is no other way.

To create music old and new
Both black and white each play their part
Why is it that we choose to
see others races as apart.

Because they’re not the same as us
We miss the similarities
which makes me rather curious
What is it causes us unease.

Intolerance and bigotry
or merely simple ignorance.
It seems we see selectively
quite unprepared to take the chance.

That they might be like you and me.
Despite the colour of their skin.
If we look closely we can see
They’re not so different from our kin.

Both ebony and ivory
It seems so obvious to me
need to contribute equally
for any kind of harmony.

Gods

The ivory gods,
And the ebony gods,
And the gods of diamond and jade,
Sit silently on their temple shelves
While the people
Are afraid.
Yet the ivory gods,
And the ebony gods,
And the gods of diamond-jade,
Are only silly puppet gods
That the people themselves
Have made.

Ivory

You were born with a face that would let you get your way
Yeah you had everything you wanted child, that is until the day
you know you're much too fine and free, Ivory
You've been dressed in a vest, every minute of your day
You walk into a room, stand in a lit shade
Is your timer too high for me, Ivory
Ivory
How does it feel to be so high
Ivory
How long how long will it take for you to cry
Ivory
I'm in need
Ivory
Ivory
I'll touch your soul, might even touch your brain
I know you can't see me
I know your blind
Come back come back and see
Ivory
So good to me
Ivory

Composite Compositions

When ebony and ivory.
Are treated with equality.
Then they can work in harmony.
Producing tuneful melody.

Each one alone is limited.
Because it is inhibited
By mistaken racial views
Which prove to be of little use.

The world is not just black and white
And even they aren't opposite.
There are so many shades between
Which add their colour to the scene.

I recognise all men as kin
Despite the colour of their skin.

Elephant's Graveyard III

Sanctified by elephants since time began-
elephants who accept their end uncomplainingly
with relief and nary a snivel
having long ago made it a point to live their lives well
and confident of this just repose.

'Oh, my God, ' you think, 'all the ivory.'
Ivory laying about, half-sunk, everywhere
strewn, grass-entangled, trip-you-up ivory,
because that's what's left of an elephant, after a bit-
after a century or so, that's quite all that's left,
a tusk of ivory bearing in this respect

a sharp resemblance to a man's poetic toil
or the opera-ticket stub found in his breast pocket
by his grand-child, rummaging in the attic
a century after the time when the music stopped
and stopped forever, never to again resume;

toppled stalagmites of ivory, some taller than a man,
cracked by the sun, washed by the rain, buffed by the moon.
Surely, someone would buy all that ivory for market
dice to make, dominoes, piano keys, dentures;
But how to get it home-would Swiss-Air take it?

stowed in sheaths...

A Failing Lonely Music

Thoughts that take me back, a texture, in perfect tune with every note

A grand piano so new, the keys ivory white, flawless with many a devote

Beauteous to life to play a melody designed, lively and sweet to many ears

The musical rhythm in harmony, bringing a serenity to the atmosphere.

Thumping the many hours, minutes, that so majestically then displayed.

Seen now with lines drawn around the face, many a hardships detailed.

Gone with the years, now wasted, distorted, dumb and left in sheer daze

Alone with the four walls in a corner, a laptop, begins a new phase

The silvery streaks shining through the once so ebony black hair

The touch of that mastery hand slips away with lesser love and care

the joyous glow, the musical softness, now faces just an empty smile

A burden hard to bear, and no longer a road that seems worthwhile

Like the dusty old piano abandoned and brings no comfort to the air

Withering hands, elegance shrinks, a coldness, with feelings, despair? ?

The worthy of a soul with the creeping of old age, the body a creaking

Concern cease, just memories of days, once kept a world a glowing! ! !

Flesh & Blood

Im not that someone whos got what you want
I can do nothing but watch what you do
You just want someone to kiss you good night
But lips are never enough to get you through
You stole my nights and you got your way
Now you got me dying inside , oh baby
Ebony dont walk out on me
Listen to what I say
Pick up the pieces of my life into the night of day
How do you break this heart of steel
Nobody ever could
Open the pages of my life
Im only flesh and blood
Ill be your savior but baby I swear
Im not living my life over you
Some satisfaction you get if you dare
But is it ever enough to get you through
You stole my mind and you watch me fall
Now you leave the scene of the crime,oh no
Ebony dont walk out on me
I never thought you could
Im only what you make of me
Im only flesh and blood
Im only flesh and blood
When youre gone , youll be leaving behind,
A broken man with something to hide
Oh, lost in the night in a town without pity
You learn how to cry. you learn how to cry
(break)
Ebony dont walk out on me
Listen to what I say
Pick up the pieces of my life into the night of day
How do you break this heart of steel
Nobody ever could
Open the pages of my life
Im only flesh and blood
Gone are the days that came and went
Houses are made of wood
Live in a world of sand and stone
Im only flesh and blood
Ebony dont walk out on me
I never thought you could
Im only what you make of me
Im only flesh and blood

Somewhere Inside Of You!

Every life, shall meet death.
Every breath crosses that bridge
Every autumn leaf falls bereft.
See all in its burning leafage.

Oh diamond sparks burn inside
…Blue, with rage, behind iron-bars.
Oh there's a heart of a flower
And, somewhere inside of you!
Inside of you, child there's a Houdini…
Honeycombed with green-envying eyes
Somewhere inside of you, child, there's
A queen, that, that, that, never dies…

Oh, look, child how she just swans…
Seductively easy across the skies
Ah, seduction… in ivory,
Seduction… in ivory,
Seduction… in ivory blossom
Into a million crimson dyes,
But—no she'll never, ever, ever, die.
Nor be cast down into that dead leafage.

Ghostly; she's like some spiders webbing,
Webbed; across deaths ebony warring face.
Every life is like a stillborn, thought!
Just waiting, wondering, and rippling out of breath.

Inside of you, child there's a Houdini…
Honeycombed with green envying eyes
Somewhere inside of you, child, there's
A queen, that, that, that, never dies…

Oh, look child she just swans…
Seductively, easy across the skies
Ah, seductively into ivory,
Seduction… into ivory,
Seduction… in ivory blossom
Oh, into a million crimson dyes,
But—no she'll never, ever, ever, die.
Nor be cast down into that dead leafage.

Swing Song

The blatant horns blare strident sound;
Delighted, you laugh and seize
My passive arm, but I have found
Content in the harmonies.
They sound, are silent; please or annoy,
Are not clever, cruel, or coy
Like human qualities.
See agile fingers in frantic flight
Along the smoking row
Of piano keys cut from ebony night
And from the sullied snow
Of the city. Look love, listen love, tell me--
Where does the music come from really,
Where does it really go?
Planets are tensed to a single chord
Of absolute harmony
Sounding from a cosmic keyboard,
Unheard by you and me;
Yet we re attuned; who understands
That can see the judgment-hands
Poised above the keys.

Ebony Eyes

Shes a miss beautiful supreme
A girl that others wish that they could be
If theres seven wonders of the world
Then I know shes gotta be number one
Shes a girl that cant be beat
Born and raised on ghetto streets
Shes a devastating beauty
A pretty girl with ebony eyes
Shes the sunflower of natures seeds
A girls that some men only find in their dreams
When she smiles it seems the stars all know
Cause one by one they start to light up the sky
Shes a girl that cant be beat
Born and raised on ghetto streets
Shes a devastating beauty
A pretty girl with ebony eyes
A girl that cant be beat
Born and raised on ghetto streets
A devastating beauty
A pretty girl with ebony eyes
When she starts talking soft and sweet
Like birds of spring her words all seem to sing
With a rhythm that is made of love
And the happiness that she only brings
Shes a girl that cant be beat
Born and raised on ghetto streets
Shes a devastating beauty
A pretty girl with ebony eyes
A girl that cant be beat
Born and raised on ghetto streets
A devastating beauty
A pretty girl with ebony eyes
Yeah, yea yea
.......yeah
Pretty black beauty
Yeah, hea yeah
Yea, yea, yeah, yea, yea, yeah
Yea, yea, yea, yea, yea, yea, yeah
Shes a girl that cant be beat
Born and raised on ghetto streets
Shes a devastating beauty
A pretty girl with ebony ey---es

Black and White

Black and White By Dilantha Gunawardana

A story in black and white

Black and white;
Black in white; perhaps black on white;
White embedded in black;
Black around white, sprinkle or a speckle even a trickle;
Shadows on the porch on an eerie white night;
A piano keyboard, intertwined in ebony and white;
A checker or a droughts board or lofty chess pieces;
Black stallions and white mares;
All galloping in the pursuit of unending happiness;
A flow of nimbus with a speckle of cumulus;
Showers of blessings, black rain and even snow and hale;
The smog that kisses the snow flake clouds;
Chimneys and embers inside snowy winter bungalows;
We begin in ashes, black residual ashes;
Connected to a white umbilical cord;
We are born white, virgins in every sphere of life;
Then we learn of the agony of the ebony;
Even the bright light of white, even white water that softens our stance;
Criss-cross, diagonal, straight or in jumps in the many paths of life;
Life, a game of chess, as we sprinkle our lives with black and white;
And in the end, we are left with nothing but black and white;
A powdered white peau against the back dropp of a charcoal black suit
In an ebony coffin, with white shimmering handles
Then we burn in to ashes, residual embers
Ashes to ashes, powder of our existence
Black and white;
Our true essence of life.

Perfect Harmony

Perfect harmony, lets put it all together.
Every piece fits right.
But do we have the time.
Never enough, always wanted more.
Its Pandora's door.
Once its open i can never be closed.
So exposed.

Perfect harmony, the dominoes have be lined up.
One flick of the finger and watch them all fall,
all the hopes and dreams stolen by a perfect harmony.
Why does it have to be routine.
Why not a little chaos in the order.
That way when that person tries to destroy it.
It ends in failure.
You cant sink a ship that's already sinking.
Time to jump ship once again.

Perfect harmony creates a melody of tragedy.
Still we search for it.
Knowing we will lose it all again.
Cause soon or later you got lose.
In the end the house always wins.
Get out while the getting is good.
I really think you should.
Perfect harmony indefinitely.
Is there even such a reality.
Has the wind been forever knocked out of me.
I think not cause chaos is my order.

Same Side

It doesnt matter who you are
Or what youre gonna be
People from all walks of life
You gotta have diversity
Were all in this together
And together we shall be
You gotta be a friendly neighbor
If youre gonna live next to me
Were all
Livin on the same side
Same side of town
Walkin down the same streets
The streets that are all around
You could be my brother
Or you could be my friend
But dont turn your back on me
Cause well be here til the end
Yeah, were all in this together
And we all have that dream
To live in perfect harmony
Like a family thats the scene
Yeah, were all...
Livin on the same side
Same side of town
Walkin down the same streets
The streets that are all around
Livin on the same side
Same side of town
Shufflin to the same beat
The beat thats all around
Stumblin down on d.p., keggers all around,
Laughin at the police as they try to take us down
Hangin with each other, yeah hangin with our bros
We all love one another, from our heads down to our toes

whoever does not will be able to grab
I was just too perfect to crap and seduction are venomous

my beauty glow filtered through niche snobbery
between the eternal silence

I put myself in a lovely ivory tower

yet untouched by anyone
the inevitability of death to me by my

Aching Eyes

aching eyes
bleeding heart
trembling hands
a storm within
entangled hair
wind sweeping
pain in my ass
scarred skin
another wound
blues and bruises

sands of silence
tower of ivory
ebony spaces
starless skies
faded moon

shattered pieces
of self
hands that want
to grasp
every broken
word, stuttering
existence

my friend
what writer's block
are you talking?
