Saturday Night In Toledo, Ohio
(Sparks)
Saturday night in Toledo, Ohio is like being nowhere at all.
All through the day how the hours rush by, you sit in the park and you watch the grass die.
Ah, but after the sunset, the dusk and the twilight, when shadows of night start to fall.
They roll back the sidewalk precisely at ten and people who live there are not seen again.
Just two lonely truckers from Great Falls, Montana and a salesman from places unknown
all huddled together in downtown, Toledo to spend their big night all alone.
You ask how I know of Toledo, Ohio? Well I spent a week there one day.
They've got entertainment to dazzle your eyes: go visit the bakery and watch the buns rise.
Ah, but let's not forget that the folks of Toledo unselfishly gave us the scale.
No springs, honest weight, that's the promise they made,
so smile and be thankful next time you get weighed.
And "wive and wet wive", let this be our motto, let's let the sleeping dogs lie.
And here's to the dogs of Toledo, Ohio, ladies, we bid you goodbye.

Toledo
All through the night you telephoned
I saw the light blinking red
Beside the cradle
But you dont know how far Ive gone
Now I must live with the lie
That I made
But if I call, I know I wont have to say it
Youll hear my voice - something is bound to betray it
But do people living in toledo
Know that their name hasnt travelled very well?
And does anybody in ohio
Dream of that spanish citadel?
But its no use saying that I love you
And how that girl really didnt mean a thing to me
For if anyone should look into your eyes
Its not forgiveness that theyre gonna see
You hear her voice - how could you do that?
You hear her voice - how could you do that?
So I walked outside in the bright
Sunshine and lovers pass by
Smiling and joking
But they dont know the fool I was
Why should they care what was lost
What was broken?
But if I call, I know I wont have to say it
Youll hear my voice - something is bound to betray it
But do people living in toledo
Know that their name hasnt travelled very well?
And does anybody in ohio
Dream of that spanish citadel?
But its no use saying that I love you
And how that girl really didnt mean a thing to me
For if anyone should look into your eyes
Its not forgiveness that theyre gonna see
But do people living in toledo
Know that their name hasnt travelled very well?
And does anybody in ohio
Dream of that spanish citadel?
But we still have florence, alabama
We dont have paris, and we dont have rome

Cleveland Hippie 2003
Cleveland Ohio I went to
in 2003 yes indeed,
with a turtle named Toledo,
named after an Ohio city.
Stayed at an artist hippie's
House who painted
Marilyn Monroe,
left my props at Hippie's sisters that
were for my Birthday show.
Artist hippie smoked pot
and thought I was really hot,
so wanted me to stay,
but I said “no way,
I’m on to Florida
the sunshine state.'
So he dreamed about me
with an elephant baby,
I told him in the dream
“baby elephant talks and flies”
but he thought I was crazy,
but baby elephant dream
kept showing up more than all the time,
he figured I'ld get rich when he finally did analyze.
Now artist’s sister still has
One of my CD’s,
it’s about Razel and
her evil boyfriend Freddy.
Now I did get most of my
Show props back,
some left behind,
because other friend
went through town real fast.
I really did see Cleveland
like Lake View Cemetary,
where it was gigantic
and very scary
Went to the Rock Hall of Fame,
where Cleveland said Rock was heard
there first was their claim.
Since then I went through Ohio state,
but not through Cleveland which
makes Ohio the state so great,
maybe next time at another later date.

Our Song
Toledo was just another good stop
Along the good kings highway
My fortification took me by surprise
And hit me sending me sideways
Spellbound - roundly - good for sunshine
Cant help thinking
Singing the rule britannia
And this is where it grabs you
Theres method in the key of c
Toledos got to be the silver city
In this good country
Our song
It gives us a reason
Our song
That good remedy
Music has magic
That stuff of syncopation
Ever tried driving it to golden heights
Just simply jiving it
My mystification it got a
Jewel skies crazy spacing it
Hot sun - crowded - screams high voices
Singing speechless
Touching of the healing heart
So this is where we really start
Music is a shout of foregone conclusions
As long as music plays its part
Good good part
Our song
It gives us a reason
Our song
That good remedy
Music has magic
Its good clear syncopation
Treat it good
Treat it rightly
And if you get it flowing
The harmony is glowing
So get ready
So get ready
Dont go toledo toledo dont go
Music - good to you
Music - good to you

Dust bone
Love burns down to grief, burns
the edge of my heart.
In sorrow i break into sparks of
sand and become fire end, to dust of bones.
In the night i see the real canceled of love
bright lie.
Eyes gaze shut, glow smile fade
dream walks and talks and feet mark time
to the heartache beat.

Goodnight Ladies
Goodnight ladies, ladies goodnight
Its time to say goodbye
Let me tell you now
Goodnight ladies, ladies goodnight
Its time to say goodbye
Now all night long youve been drinking your tequilla
But now youve sucked your lemon peel dry
So why not get high
Goodnight ladies, ladies goodnight
Goodnight ladies, ladies goodnight
Its time to say goodbye
Goodnight sweet ladies, ladies goodnight
Its time to say goodbye bye bye
Oh weve been together for the longest time
But now its time to get high
Come on lets get high
And goodnight ladies, ladies goodnight
Oh, Im still missing my other half
Ah, it must be something I did in the past
Dont it just make you want to laugh
Its a lonely saturday night
Oh, nobody calls me on the telephone
I put another record on my stereo
But Im still singin a song of you
Its a lonely saturday night
Now if I was an actor or a dancer who is glamorous
Then you know an amorus life would soon be mine
But now the tinsil lighted starbreak is all thats left
To play my heartbreak
At eleven oclock I watch the network news
Oh, wow, wow, something tells me that youre nearly gone
You said we could be friends but thats not what I want
Ah, anyway my tv dinners almost done
Its a lonely saturday night
I mean to tell you its a lonely saturday night
One more round

Beautiful Night
i slipped away last night
came to see you under a moonlit sky
the way the stars glistened in your eyes
oh, what a beautiful sight
this night we share, it'll never end
the way the moonlight brightens your face
oh, what a beautiful sight
on this faithful night,
the way you held me
oh, what a beautiful feeling
the way we loved each other
oh, what a beautiful feeling
being with you, in heaven
oh, what a beautiful night

Without you
The world sits still without you,
war's day's night's, season's,
without you I'm waiting for
something to do, when I realized
there's nothing, time passes me
by, 'I've always felt that' and
still it feels like there's so much
to do, sometimes I feel like
a little planet, that no one has
yet discovered; without you is
like missing a piece of the sky,
or the ocean, I feel like a puzzle
and the one piece missing is you.
Without you there's no hunger,
no thirst, without you my hands
no longer will write pastoral's to
the night, without you my eyes
will not gaze your charms again.
I cherish sweet love, thy lovely
argument of bloody tears, without
you, I shall even live and your tomb
I'll make, or you survive when I in
earth am dust. Without you- who
shall cry my lost? , without you I will
remain dead. And you still live -such
righteousness in the eyes of one.

Watching Fireworks
The crowds are gathering
along the Ohio river bank
tonight, to watch the
famous Rossi's fireworks.
One side Ohio, the other
side Kentucky. Here I sit
wondering where are you,
wishing you were here with
me, missing you.
The night sky is ablaze
with beautiful fusions.I
saw your face in a star
burst, flashing across
the northern sky.
I reached to touch you.
I wanted to chase it.
But in an instant all
was gone.The color
display so wonderful,
I sat in amazement.
I searched the mid-night
skies looking for you,
trying to draw you near.
Somehow you had escaped.
As the evening was ending
I once again drew you unto
myself.In loving thoughts
I say, good-night honey
I love you, rest well.

Country Girl
Written by - Jim Croce
She was just a country girl
Didn't have those New York City ways
When she hopped a bus in Ohio
Headin' for the crowded streets where no one says a word
She was just a country girl living in the lonely city
Met a man who learned her name
She became a woman on a rainy New York night
Chorus:
There's a new day dawnin' in the city
She calls her Mama collect
Sayin' Mama send bus fare back to Ohio
Have somebody meet me at the depot
She was just a country girl
Spent some time in New York City
Now she tells her friends about lonely New York City
And her lonely New York night
Chorus
She was just a country girl
She was just a country girl

Weary body
She gave him her dreams,
he made them nightmares.
She gave him her love, he
turned it to hatred, she gave
him her warm kisses, he
turned them into regrets.
She gave him her enthusiasm;
he turned it into distress.
She gave him her sweet hymns;
he turned them into howling wolves.
She gave him the flavor of her
craves, he turned it into bitterness,
She gave him the nectars of her
fruits, he made them go bad.
She gave him her time, he took
it for granted. All she gave, became
in vain; a weary body and broken
lies, are the only truth she has to
confront. Her heart was still alive
she gave it to him, he took it in
warm blood, and let it bleed to death.

the next time you reach my bed,
It will not be the same, it will be a different

Extinct
Her expectations are dazed,
she have nothing to look forward
to, but to remember in only a
grieving manner.
Only to see her effort at hand,
to the moment that left her heart
wounded and in profound misery.
Deep, deep in the midst of her soul.
Now she surrenders her grief to the night,
to time that follows her always
faithful and exact, next to her in
every move she makes.
She gave to surrender and buried her
dreams in a garden of broken
appetence, her blood so warm,
now is cold, like a winters night.
There's no one to fervor it. She's lost
in the middle of her empty desires;
lost and can't find a route, to enter
and lose all of this passion she has no use for.

I do not exist
I do not exist,
I do not breath,
I do not bleed
I do not hurt
I do not exist in your eyes,
not anymore,
I am far, far away, like
the stars that don't exist,
but still they shine and
you can see them far away,
but there not alive, there not
really there. Yes I am not there,
not for you, I do
not want your pity.
I do not want my broken smile
painted in your thoughts.
I do not exist, I am not there,
do not look for me, I do not
exist, I am not there, I am not there
