I remember in 1968 when we were in Cannes, in the festival, and we were supposed to be there 10 days, and the second day the festival collapsed because the French, you know, film-makers raised the red flag in the festival and ended the festival.

Artificial Light
Slow dancing in a disco,
Standing underneath the light show,
Illuminated by the artificial light.
I disbelieved it at first sight,
I couldnt tell if she was black or white,
It didnt matter in the artificial light,
Artificial light.
Artificial light.
Artificial light.
Artificial light.
First time I saw her she was easy to know,
She had nothing to hide, she put it all out to show.
She didnt cover up or try to conceal,
I knew the way that she felt cause her expression was real.
She didnt cover up the inside,
She showed it all on the outside,
Stark naked in the artificial light.
Everybody gotta learn to relax,
To be yourself you have to put on an act.
Get together in the artificial light.
And if I saw her in the light of day,
I wouldnt know what to say, I wouldnt know what had happened.
I only wanna know a world below,
Where we can be ourselves beneath an artificial glow.
And if youre scared what your friendll say,
And youre embarrassed by the light of day,
Get together in the artificial light.
Everybody let yourself go,
Everybody to a floor show,
Get together in the artificial light.
Artificial light,
Artificial light,
Artificial light,
Artificial light.

Artificial Things (Sextuple Senryu)
Artificial breaths,
Like mimicking feelings of
Love with empty souls,
Artificial love,
Like sex mimics of drugged, raped
Girls, being in chains,
Artificial sex,
Like mimicking life in the
Dolls for making love,
Artificial life,
Like raping dead women to
Sate sadistic needs,
Artificial need,
Like rape mimics during sex
For excitation
And excitations,
Like artificial breaths for
Necrophiliacs.

The artificial and the real
In this world, the artificial and the
Real mix, and sometimes it is hard
To distinguish one from the other,
So here is the gauge:
The artificial man does not bleed,
The real man does,
The real man is not afraid to love,
The artificial does not
The real flower has a dew and
Can be torn apart and gives off a scent
The artificial flower gives a blank
Stare at you
And there is no question thrown
Away
The plastic, the wax, the foam,
The flesh, the blood, the sweat,
The dust, the stiffness, the wires
The feeling, the softness, the veins
But you must beware, I may feel you
And you may feel me, but I can still
Be not real, but artificial in some subtle
Sense, in some secret ways, so what is
The real gauge this time? It is just you,
Be real yourself, and let them be, whatever.

Aberkah
British beauty!
The artificial moon,
The artificial spoon,
The artificial sun,
The artificial gun,
The artificial stars,
The artificial tars! !
Bun, dun, fun, run, pun;
But, with mercy and peace.
Buy, but, burr, bury, bun;
Under the shades of love!
And, it is no secret to all;
But, do make love with the only one you love.
Aberkah, era, ear, bear, bare, hear, are, he, bark, ark!
Near, the surface;
Like a fair trial,
But, you are very young at your age!
And, you need someone to guide you on;
However, your mind is miles ahead of you.
Encourage,
To buy and to bury it;
But, do have a blessed day! !
In the land of your muse with mercy and peace,
And like a Professor and his students.

First Encounter - Imamura Shohei
Imamura Shohei
that love of the orient
shines through his face
Imamura Shohei
our meet marked by
mutual love for the orient
The late Imamura Shohei won the Grand Prix Award for the Cannes Film Festival for the film Narayama Bushiko many years back. The film depicts the strange custom of a Japanese village where old folks were
sent to mountains to die to solve food problems. The most touching scene was that of an old woman waving to her reluctant son to go after he had brought her to the mountains. Imamura was in Malacca in the 80s to film his other film Zegen when we met up. He greeted me like a friend, an outpouring of his love for the orient. Zegen did not make it to the box office but his recognition as one of Japan best directors surivives.

In starting to learn about film festivals and what were good ones - 'cause there are five billion of them - it was just a really good East Coast festival. And I thought this little movie was an East Coast film.

Dink's Song
(b.gibson/b.lomax/j.lomax)
This is a blues traditional that has been performed also by bob dylan. jeff performed it several times in his concerts, and he performed it also live on-air for the music faucet, a wfmu radio broadcast, on october 11 1992.
If i had wings like noah's dove
I'd fly up the river to the one i love
Fare thee well, my honey, fare thee well
If i met your man, who was long and tall
I'd hit his body like a cannon ball
Fare thee well, my honey, fare thee well
One of these days and it won't be long
Call my name and i'll be gone
Fare thee well, my honey, fare thee well
I remember one night, a drizzling rain
Round my heart i felt an achin' pain
Fare thee well, oh honey, fare thee well
When i wore my apron low
Couldn't keep you from my do'
Fare thee well, my honey, fare thee well
Now i wear my apron high
Scarcely ever see you passing by
Fare thee well, my honey, fare thee well
Now my apron's up to my chin
You pass my door and you won't come in
Fare thee well, oh honey, fare thee well
If i had listened to what my mama said
I'd be at home in my mama's bed
Fare thee well, oh honey, fare thee well

The 2010 Port Fairy Music Festival
We are another year older and time is ticking on
And another Music Festival at Port Fairy has come and has gone
Great entertainment for young and for old and for those in their life's prime
And everyone there seemed to have a good time.
In the 2010 Port Fairy Festival some heavy showers of rain
And after an hour the sun shone out again
But this did not dampen the good fun and cheer
Of the Festival with such a great atmosphere.
In port Fairy close to the great City of Warrnambool
The weather it is mostly warm to cool
It is held on the Labor Day Weekend of the Fall
Where a good time is generally had by all.
It brings to people from far and near such great happiness
The 2010 Port Fairy Music Festival another great success
There's music in the festival arenas and music on the street
Where once a year lovers of music do meet.
