Varsity

My idea of paradise
is a university at dusk,
late May, utterly alone.

No angels necessary—
just the clouds of insects
whirring around like electrons,

and no heavenly light, either,
unless it was that kind that only
comes from a very old streetlamp
filtering through oak leaves.

Never mind, for now,
that those Corinthian columns
are not fashioned from cirrus,

or that the low-watt hum
of the generators does not really
resemble a celestial choir.

Focus instead on that greenhouse
and its thousand dreaming cacti,
on the stars' dim oscillations,

on the graduate student pacing
in the solitary lit window
like an insomniac Dante

and grading with a blue felt pen
a piece of poetry much like this one.

Light Filtering Through The Clouds

through the clouds it drifts
a sea of milk

a ray of hope
a heavenly rope

a mist of joy
a shadow of sky

a path of noor
a flight of hoor

stairs of light
to inconceivable height

a glow in the heart
a joy, for a start

a sight to feel
a light that heal

material of dreams
a magical seam

an angels ride
sun's own pride

a sight that fills
what a magical feeling!

this poem is about the way light passes thru the clouds sometimes.the rays of light filtering thru is quite mesmerizing

PS. noor is 'heavenly light'
hoor is 'fairies'

An Idea

An Idea can change the world, how many
things can be done from an idea, every piece
of object was an idea, sense the beginning of
time idea was the first thought created in the
mind, an idea is what surround’s every being.
But an idea is still only an idea and it can't be
felt, you cannot touch an idea or kiss it, or hold it,
ideas do not bleed or feel pain or love, an idea
cannot be seen or heard, its created in our thoughts,
but then again an idea can become real. An idea
can be what ever you which it to be, an idea can
be destructive, an idea can be brilliant, I've seen
people get killed in the name of ideas, ideas,
we walk around with a little
light bulb blinking in our thoughts, ideas.

Poets of The Electron Dream

There is a single factum
for the current century
which has
All Meaning
for Poetry.

The Physicists
have
since the 1920's
told us that electrons
can be in two different places
simultaneously.

The Principle of Uncertainty.

They have finally caught up with
Poets who
have long
argued that
Poetry comes
through
many times
from somewhere else;

other channels
sometimes unknown to
the Poet who
often hurries
to write down
new poems
originating
from venues
which seem to burst through
to consciousness;
Whole Cloth
and fully formed.

Commonplace
yet it has never
been explained:
how this could be?

But now
we all
have to take seriously

that not only electrons
can be here and there
simultaneously,

but perhaps too
so can I and you.

Taking this idea seriously
is to understand
that an Idea
in the human mind
has electrons too
and that any idea
may have in fact
come not only from you
but also from that other you
that is not in the room
that may in fact simultaneously
exist
in parallel
somewhere else
leading a slightly different
life Poetically.

A second point made
in Physics labs
is that electrons
everywhere
pop in and out of existence
instantly;
constantly.
But where do they go when they go
and from where are they coming back from?

Finally, there is physical proof that
Electron A with a positive charge,
if changed to a negative one, will
cause its match
all the way across the universe
to revert its charge to positive.

All matter
therefore is
in constant contact
across all of the Universe
at the same time.

This is the 'Theory of Inflation'

Actually not a theory mind you.
At this point a proven fact.

Poets have long argued
'The Connectedness of All Things'
Now it seems
the Physicists
are agreeing;

boggled minds
in the laboratory
are now
sounding like
Poets of the Electron Dream.

Either Physicists are now Poets
or Poets created Physicists.

Sonnet to the sky

Oh how wonderful is the sky
Like a cloth in light blue dye
By day the clouds decorate it
And by the great sun it is lit

Changing by day and by night
Truly a magnificent sight
At dusk the sky stands gallantly
With the sun setting beautifully

Do not fear, small child
As the sky at night is not wild
With the moon shining oh so bright
And the stars giving heavenly light

By the night or by the day
To praise the one above I try
There is nothing more I could say
Than a single sonnet for the sky

This Is Like Heaven To Me

Heaven is where we walk the streets made of gold,
And secrets of our hearts will be told.
The further we go the heavenly sunset we behold
Thinking of heaven where angles are ordained of God
Around the throne eternity is bound,
Wound in celestial mantle our old prayers are found.

Where you will never age, and see sunrise in the dark,
Waiting for the star and the dewy morning light,
Appearing so bright the night is soon forgotten.
Heaven wakes the stations in the entire kingdom,
A new enchantment waiting to be discovered,
A secret world lies between heaven and earth.

Walking daytime if you are immortal full of life,
On earth life is hell; our lives are like empty shell.
We carry misery from early birth to the deep earth,
Belief keeps us looking for heaven in the clouds,
In hope of humane rapture that will give peace.

And take in the dim view; to a place that is new
Where teenagers can dress like linen lilies.
Hiding a sermon you cannot walk to church with,
The sign makes the heart free from the pain of fear.
And the sky above them are laden with smoke,
Dreams which could be paradise move uneasy,
The next day life is different when they awake.

This is like heaven to me with love and dreams,
I will wait patiently until my destiny come.
They see the blue skies above and watch the smoke
Move gently through the clouds away from the crowd,
Gathering storm brings the rain that will quickly fall,
One of Gods messenger touches the Glover grass.
And soon the dark shadows past into the night,
Be reborn in the harvest of heavenly paradise.

On the street where I live there is a ladder to climb
Tall hedges and scented foliage blind the golden sun,
That sweet savor with leaves fluttering in the wind,
Turned the pages as they move below the window pane,
They seemed too changed and turn a different color.

And the heart looses gain and falls apart with pain,
The realm of this world tries to take control,
Angels tells a different story running from heaven.
My mind does not exist among the clouds
When the rain falls, blessings feel like I am forgiven

African violet sometimes your eyes are wet,
But the showers needs to fall on barren hearts,
Places we have been and the things we regret.

The Recorded Message

Hello, I’m standing here looking up into the clear moonlit sky
a bright star stands out above the rest and I don’t know why.
Several times I’ve looked away and tried to focus elsewhere,
but each time my eyes return to this stunning heavenly glare.

Without warning all the stars have vanished except for this one,
I’ve rubbed my eyes in disbelief, but yes they have definitely gone.
Even the moon has disappeared from its place high in the sky,
but the brightness hasn’t altered and still I don’t know why.

This star seems to be zooming in and changing the night to day,
but it isn’t a normal daylight seen in the usual kind of way.
All the edges of this light are tinged with yellow and blue,
and to focus my eyes properly is very hard to do.

I’m so overwhelmed I’ve fallen backwards onto the ground
I feel foolish and embarrassed, and look quickly all around.
But there’s no one to be seen; where has everyone gone
there’s no one here to share with me what is going on.

This is beyond understanding, only a few moments a go
people were all around me busily walking to and fro.
I put my hands on to the ground to get up, but they’re not there
everything is disappearing into the yellow and blue tinged glare.

Hello, I’m standing here looking up into the clear moonlit sky
a bright star stands out above the rest and I don’t know why.
Several times I’ve looked away and tried to focus elsewhere,
but each time my eyes return to this stunning heavenly glare.

Miracle Healing

hello my friend!
it's late and i want to sleep
but i just can't make it to my bed.
i've got a brand-new song on my screen. it's called miracle healing.
i read it on a sign somewhere in port of spain
(29. 4. 2000).
i remember a bright-blue-colonial building. for me it looked like the
entrance to paradise.
a place full of smiling people, a place full of happiness.
i was dreaming to go there instead of doing the interview & receive...
a miracle healing of innocence & ectasy.
dreams of independence. love, caress & energy.
the circle & square, sound & vision, angels are singing
you're gonna burn in hell no more - you're gonna burn in hell no more...
are you sure what to think of me?
do you know how i should be?
is there any damn explanation for this world?
and what kind of healing would i need?
only one thing i know is that i need some help,
i must finish this song to find it all out
a miracle healing...
hello my friend!
it's late and i want to sleep
and i'm sitting here all alone with my ghosts tonite
i don't know what to write to you
i just want to say that i'm thinking of you
and i hope that you're alright
i am, well, ...better, i think it must be because of this letter
and if it's not so then i really don't have a clue
if i slept for a thousand years would you dig inside my pyramid?
would you resurrect me from the dead, would you light up my darkness, would
you give me...
a miracle healing...?

Act One Scene One: A Wood near Athens

Spring sunlight filters through new leaves
in this wood near Athens;
the ozone of the sea not far away
livens the nostrils of the hopeful student
pausing in front of the marble columns.

The pause is a departure and an arrival:
there’s dust on his sandals;
he’s come from far away;
who knows how far?

How many times has his spirit
been washed by Lethe’s oblivion?
That forgetting which by grace
may lead to a remembering?

The student and the columns of the portico
shining white in their new marble in the sunlight,
both for a moment still; yet
in another world, the spirit of the student
and the spirit of the Academy itself
fly to meet each other;
the goddess, bare arms open,
greets her worshipper of truth.

We the Chorus, witnessing the beauty of this scene
indescribable; immortal; full of truth,
speak of the gods who watch eternally;
recall in measured words
Odysseus, returning to his homeland;
his mind, like his faithful dog,
waking to its long awaited master.

Heavenly Flight

Born again into the heaven's free
With my love and only love
Listlessly laying on the clouds with she
In heavenly sky, in heaven above
A paradise for her a paradise for me

Dressed in silvery raiment we both do stare
Into our heavenly eyes
And our souls we share
Our endless love, like endless skies
In the midst of heaven's care

Free as the music of earthly man
We play our songs with no end
Where love is from and love began
We sing music to each other like angels send
Love to one because love we can

Born again born with thee
Our souls do take heavenly flight
Into a heaven, where we can be
Both light, dark, and twilight
Overlooking our home, our vast sea
Beauty and heaven and what's truly free

Dreamin'

Close your eyes and take a look at your life
Do you like what you see
My eyes are open but I feel like I'm blind, it's all returning to me
I wanna know, does a frozen river flow
Things you said fill my head lying in a cold and empty bed
I'm only dreaming
Between the darkness and the light
I'm only dreaming, oooh
Dreaming, can't tell the daylight from the night
I'm only dreaming, dreaming
I feel the sunlight shining down on my face
Not a cloud in my mind
I get my wake up but it never comes in time
My prayers are spoken and I wait to receive
'Cause there's a fine line between the truth and how we want it to be
I'm only dreaming
Between the darkness and the light
I'm only dreaming, oooh
Dreaming, can't tell the daylight from the night
I'm only dreaming, dreaming
I'm sailing like a ship on the sea
I don't care if I'm lost in the haze
I hear the angels singing something to me
Time's the enemy
That you never see
Won't you come slip away
I am only dreaming
I'm only dreaming
I am only dreaming
Yeah
I'm only dreaming
I am only dreaming
I'm only dreaming
Yeah
I am only dreaming

I'm Old Fashioned

I am not such a clever one
About the latest fads
I admit I was never one
Adored by local lads
Not that I ever try to be a saint
I'm the type that they classify as quaint
Im old fashioned
I love the moonlight
I love the old fashioned things
The sound of rain
Upon a window pane
The starry song that april sings
This years fancies
Are passing fancies
But sighing sighs holding hands
These my heart understands
I know I'm old fashioned
But I don't mind it
That's how I want to be
As long as you agree
To stay old fashioned with me
(bridge)
I'm old fashioned
But I don't mind it
That's how I want to be
As long as you agree
To stay old fashioned with me
Oh won't you stay old fashioned with me
Oh please stay old fashioned with me

A New Time Was Born

I approached you
And the flash light
Of your voice embraced me.
It was somewhere, near the divine idea.

I hadn't met you before, but
When we united our voices
To be together in this way,
I felt the eternity floating in the air,
That kind of white eternity
In which, everyone wants to stay.

So many people crowded in between us
That we seemed to be two points on a world map.
So long was the distance in between us
That we seemed to live

One at the North Pole
And the other one at the South Pole.

It was the time when
The sun was declining beneath the blue horizon
In a ring of fire
And the moon was rising in the same sky,
And the coming night was embracing
The leaving day.
It was our twilight.

It was the time when
The stars began to
Appear on a new dark sky.
I began to be afraid of losing you.

I took the elapsed seconds
To hang them on the 'Lyre' constellation.
The existent seconds flowed into there
With a terrible rapidity,
Letting those, which were new to come to life.
A new time was born,
In which, we became existent one for each other.

I felt that you wanted to touch me.

I heard a tenderness in your voice.
Our feelings flowed into
The 'Bird of Paradise' constellation.

Suddenly, a rain of stars began to fall down.
I didn't know if it was a real rain of stars
Or a firework, I didn't know
Whether we could really embrace each other,

But I felt
That I was irreversibly transformed
Into another new woman.

Last Days In My Life

(3/7/12)

There were days in my life that I recall
When there was no hope left - no hope at all.
Then my thoughts wandered to CHRIST
And I felt that I was in paradise.

SAINT PETER was there to meet me at
Those pearly gates
And I knew I was there because I never lost faith
there were angels on both sides that lined
The path to his throne.
My family and friends were there, so I wasn't alone.

The choir of angels singing all in tune
And I knew my life didn't end too soon.
The path was filled with the brightest of lights
My oh my such a beautiful sight.
And the trumpets blared with the most beautiful sound
As the angels all gathered around.

I walked up the path as if I was floating on air
Because I left behind any worries and cares.
Although I felt a slight pain in my heart
Because I had left so many behind
But I knew that they would be fine.

The transition from being a mortal man
To being a guiding light, had made
My heart jump as it took to flight.
I could now help others more than ever before
For my lord had opened those doors.

Our souls become like lightning bugs that light up the sky
That's what we become you and I.
We light up the path for all others to see
As we greet friends and family.© L.Rams

0008 A Woman's World

She was artistic as a student,
sweet-natured, imaginative, not
overly ambitious; a good catch
for him, the fellow student with
the drive, the ambition, the great
family connections.

They married young; she did
what so many girl art students
have done: gave him all her
intelligent support, bore and raised
his children; and in the few brief moments
that she was granted for herself, took out
her student paintbox, and while the kettle boiled,
sat at the kitchen table, and beyond the view of washing-up
part painted that familiar view –
a jug of garden flowers on the kitchen window-sill..

and when he left her for
another strong woman who, however,
sculpted the cutting-edge new abstract thing
she brought up his children by herself

and when they left the nest, and she, now older,
had more time to give to paint,
she returned - as so many artists do –
to that motif, for them an eternal reminder
of that moment when the exalted mind
sees, beyond the kitchen sink,
a glimpse of that great heavenly view
beyond the garden flowers, where
she could walk into that paradise
that eternally awaits
the sweet-tempered heart..

and year by year, the modest
jug of flowers on the window-sill
became herself
and she
became that heavenly view

until the jug of flowers burst into glory
and she did what only ikon painters, praying, do
and gold and silver joined the rainbow paint
to point the way to an eternity
where kitchen sink’s now holy path;
that is more now than now

and she became,
the painting is,
a jug of Eden's flowers on a kitchen window-sill
and with all heaven in its sight

Paradise Valley

can't think straight my mind is covered with clouds
no doubt what I'm talking about;
I've never seen a place like this I miss no bliss
how could I ever forget how it feels, how it heals,
my wound, my blood, whatever pain my soul has got
these waters so clear
near and far all I can hear
rustle of leaves and insects hummin on trees
no place like this - no place like this
paradise valley
the sun reflects some billion glitters of water
direct in my face but I can't take my eyes of this place
so peaceful, beautiful, it flows all into one
meadows, mountains, I, the sky
so close I can never feel to gods own miracle
and then I see, I see that eagle fly
no place like this - no place like this
paradise valley
