There she stands
There she stands in the fog of a bridge.
Her curves outlined and showered by an indigo moon.
Her face alluring, her hazel eyes cheerless,
That I wonder what bitter sweet secrets lay on the tip of her lip.
What may my love weaved of wind do,
May it speak of my feelings for such a striking stranger?
But alas I too am a stranger whose lesser and mysterious appeals,
Are like the fog that surrounds her.
Visions of my shapeless lips are kissing her lips,
Visions of her laughter are riding on the wind that is me.
And visions of eternal bliss with bitter sweet arguments,
Allows me to muster courage,
That could take a raging sea or an erupting volcano.
But alas my heart to is a shapeless thing,
That my feelings for her are left floating in the air,
Never being able to sooth her pain or quench my curiosity.

Bitter Sweet
(d. pickerill/p. odonoughue)
Bitter sweet
Bitter sweet
I never thought Id understand
Never thought I could
The way I feel about you
And how much I need your love
How much I need your love
Bitter sweet
If I analysed each feeling
And captured every thought
Id not be any nearer
To the beating of your heart
The beating of your heart
Bridge:
Its neither pain nor pleasure
Ice cold or tropic heat
Your love is hard to measure
But its taste, mmm, its taste
Is bitter sweet
Bitter sweet
Bitter sweet
Now as I think about you
And the way you make me feel
You hurt me and I doubt you
You smile and my heart heals
Smile and my heart heals

A Friend's Song for Simoisius
The breath of dew, and twilight's grace,
Be on the lonely battle-place;
And to so young, so kind a face,
The long, protecting grasses cling!
(Alas, alas,
The one inexorable thing!)
In rocky hollows cool and deep,
The bees our boyhood hunted sleep;
The early moon from Ida's steep
Comes to the empty wrestling-ring.
(Alas, alas,
The one inexorable thing!)
Upon the widowed wind recede
No echoes of the shepherd's reed,
And children without laughter lead
The war-horse to the watering.
(Alas, alas,
The one inexorable thing!)
Thou stranger Ajax Telamon!
What to the loveliest hast thou done,
That ne'er with him a maid may run
Across the marigolds in spring?
(Alas, alas,
The one inexorable thing!)
With footstep separate and slow
The father and the mother go,
Not now upon an urn they know
To mingle tears for comforting.
(Alas, alas,
The one inexorable thing!)
The world to me has nothing dear
Beyond the namesake river here:
O Simois is wild and clear!
And to his brink my heart I bring;
(Alas, alas,
The one inexorable thing!)
My heart no more, if that might be
Would stay his waters from the sea,
To cover Troy, to cover me,
To save us from the perishing.
(Alas, alas,
The one inexorable thing!)

Stranger In The Wind...
Stranger in the wind...
Beckons at my door.
Stanger in the wind...
Wanting even more.
Stranger in the wind...
Hard to really ignore.
Stranger in the wind..
Making my heart ache, as sore.
Stranger in the wind...
Rapping at my door.
Stanger in the wind...
Who knows i am so poor.
Stranger in the wind...
My time here-has me bore...
Many aches and pains of a thirsting heart...
Can only be quenched by ye, your remembered part.
Stranger in the wind...
My heart, you'll win.
Stranger in the wind...
Yon soul so deep.
Stranger in the wind...
My heart you'll keep.
Stranger in the wind...
my soul you'll reap.
Stranger in the wind...
You make me weep.

Turn To Gold
SHINE!
I don't know why
all the fiction of your sleeping
doesn't visit you awake
I don't know how to get your storybook sunrise
to follow you above your cloudy day
all these gifts you left on you
with heaven painted on you
i wish this now with all my soul
may all your visions turn to gold
to have and hold
may all your visions turn to gold
may all your visions turn to gold
to have and hold
may all your visions turn to gold
terrified the world will never turn to look at you
and the sun won't see you shine
she'll resign for rose cooked blush just from your smiling
let the water form a cry
only better luck should greet you
the road should rise to meet you
i wish this now with all i know
may all your visions turn to gold
to have and hold
may all your visions turn to gold
may all your visions turn to gold
to have and hold
may all your visions turn to gold
loose inside your winter
feel the cold wind blowing
cutting through your head and through your ears
feel the fire growing
no more frozen danger
no more wrteched ice storm fear
may all your visions turn to gold
to have and hold
may all your visions turn to gold
may all your visions turn to gold
to have and hold
may all your visions turn to gold

Eye sea visions
Eye sea visions
Turning into shadow
Disappearing with the dark nights,
Eye sea visions
Walking in my dreams
Pushing to join realities
Then eye fold my hands and wait.
Eye sea visions
Smiling in the face of the moon,
Smelling like flowers of the Seasons
Whispering a psalmist eulogy
Then, eye close my eyes and anticipate!
Eye sea visions
And eye feel irritated, as eye begin
To lament deceptions,
Intuition envelops me… as
Eye wonder the genuineness of this
Visions eye see.

(Love Poem) Bitter Sweet Rose
Bitter sweet rose will you be mine?
Or am I wasting my time?
Bitter sweet rose you smell divine.
Do you have a succulent kiss?
Is it something I've already missed?
Bitter sweet rose what gives?
Is it how we must live?
Bitter sweet rose will you answer my questions?
Are you devote?
Do you stray when your bored?
Will you doubt?
Is what you want something more?
Bitter sweet rose are you keeping score?
Will you try something new?
Will you lock your door?
Do your lips taste like dew?
Bitter sweet rose do you want to go?
Do you love the snow?
Is this right?
Is this what you want tonight?
Bitter sweet rose, oh my bitter rose.

Cui Bono?
A CLAMOUR by day and a whisper by night,
And the Summer comes—with the shining noons,
With the ripple of leaves, and the passionate light
Of the falling suns and the rising moons.
And the ripple of leaves and the purple and red
Die for the grapes and the gleam of the wheat,
And then you may pause with the splendours, or tread
On the yellow of Autumn with lingering feet.
You may halt with the face to a flying sea,
Or stand like a gloom in the gloom of things,
When the moon drops down and the desolate lea
Is troubled with thunder and desolate wings.
But alas for the grey of the wintering eves,
And the pondering storms and the ruin of rains;
And alas for the Spring like a flame in the leaves,
And the green of the woods and the gold of the lanes!
For, seeing all pathos is mixed with our past,
And knowing all sadness of storm and of surge
Is salt with our tears for the faith that was cast
Away like a weed o’er a bottomless verge,
I am lost for these tokens, and wearied of ways
Wedded with ways that are waning amain,
Like those that are filled with the trouble that slays;
Having drunk of their life to the lees that are pain.
And yet I would write to you! I who have turned
Away with a bitter disguise in the eyes,
And bitten the lips that have trembled and burned
Alone for you, darling, and breaking with sighs.
Because I have touched with my fingers a dress
That was Beauty’s; because that the breath of thy mouth
Is sweetness that lingers; because of each tress
Showered down on thy shoulders; because of the drouth
That came in thy absence; because of the lights
In the Passion that grew to a level with thee—
Is it well that our lives have been filled with the nights
And the days which have made it a sorrow to be?
Yea, thus having tasted all love with thy lips,
And having the warmth of thy hand in mine own,
Is it well that we wander, like parallel ships,
With the silence between us, aloof and alone?
With my face to the wall shall I sleep and forget
The shadow, the sweet sense of slumber denies,
If even I marvel at kindness, and fret,
And start while the tears are all wet in mine eyes?
Oh, darling of mine, standing here with the Past,
Trampled under our feet in the bitterest ways,
Is this speech like a ghost that it keeps us aghast
On the track of the thorns and in alien days?
When I know of you, love, how you break with our pain,
And sob for the sorrow of sorrowful dreams,
Like a stranger who stands in the wind and the rain
And watches and wails by impassable streams:
Like a stranger who droops on a brink and deplores,
With famishing hands and frost in the feet,
For the laughter alive on the opposite shores
With the fervour of fire and the wind of the wheat.

Grown And Flown
I loved my love from green of Spring
Until sere Autumn's fall;
But now that leaves are withering
How should one love at all?
One heart's too small
For hunger, cold, love, everything.
I loved my love on sunny days
Until late Summer's wane;
But now that frost begins to glaze
How should one love again ?
Nay, love and pain
Walk wide apart in diverse ways.
I loved my love - alas to see
That this should be, alas!
I thought that this could scarcely be,
Yet has it come to pass:
Sweet sweet love was,
Now bitter bitter grown to me.

Bitter Sweet Love
Bitter sweet love
Why do you steal my heart and soul,
I hate you,
I love you because I hate you,
I hate you because I love you
Why do I hate you when I love you
Its a bitter sweet love.
You stole my heart
You stole my thoughts
How could you?
You made my legs wiggle,
Slightly I started to giggle.
I hate this
I hate you,
I love you because I hate you,
I hate you because I love you,
Why do I hate you when I love you
Its a bitter sweet love.
You make me smile
You make me laugh
Why do I love you?
You driving me insane.
Its a bitter sweet love
And its giving me a pain.
The key to the lock of my heart, is stabbing right through my chest.
I hate you,
I love you because I hate you,
I hate you because I love you,
Why do I hate you when I love you
Its a bitter sweet love.
A bitter sweet love!

Love Aint No Stranger
(coverdale/galley)
Who knows where the cold wind blows,
I ask my friends, but, nobody knows
Who am I to believe in love,
Oh, love aint no stranger
I looked around an what did I see
Broken hearted people staring at me,
All searching cos they still believe,
Oh, love aint no stranger
I was alone an I needed love
So much I sacrificed all I was dreaming of,
I heard no warning, but, a heart can tell
Id feel the emptiness of love I know so well
Love aint no stranger,
I aint no stranger
Love aint no stranger,
I aint no stranger to love, no, no, no
Cant hold the passion of a soul in need,
I look for mercy when my heart begins to bleed
I know good loving an Im a friend of pain,
But, when I read between the lines its all the same
Love aint no stranger,
I aint no stranger
Love aint no stranger,
I aint no stranger to love
So who knows where the cold wind blows,
I ask my friends, but, nobody knows
Who am I to believe in love,
Lord, have mercy,
Love aint no stranger,
I aint no stranger
I was alone an I needed love
So much I sacrificed all I was dreaming of,
Cant hold the passion of a soul in need,
I look for mercy when my heart begins to bleed
Love aint no stranger,
I aint no stranger
Love aint no stranger,
I aint no stranger to love
Love aint no stranger,
Love aint no stranger,
I aint no stranger...

Half-Remembered
We touch things we see not
And know things we know not
And dream of sweet things that
We’ve not set in store,
We say things we think not
And do things we do not
And wonder at wonders
We’ve wondered before.
I see you in shades of
Another life’s colours
Where sweetness and pleasance
And love was the play,
Where green was the colour
You wore to the wedding
That bound me to see where
Your loveliness lay.
And wild was the country
We took for our mansion,
And green was the valley
And green were your eyes,
And seen were you riding
So high in the saddle
Of Pacer and Gracer
By Barking Wood rise.
I vaguely see visions
Of cottagers doorsteps
In winter-white mantles
Of featherdown snow,
And you looking on me
While glowing with love-light
As I took you on to
The valley below.
And sometimes I see when
I laid you in velvet
And stole a last kiss from
The lips we had shared,
And went on to mourn ‘til
The tides took my eyesight,
And left me to wonder how
Much you had cared.
Now when I awake with
These visions so fleeting
That fade and recede in
The glow of the dawn,
I look at you lying so
Peaceful beside me
And smile at the love shared
Before we were born.
We touch things we see not
And know things we know not
And dream of sweet things that
We’ve not set in store,
We say things we think not
And do things we do not
And wonder at wonders
We’ve wondered before…

Spit On A Stranger
However you feel
Whatever it takes
Whenever its real
Whatever awaits me
Whatever you need
However so light
Whenever its real
Whenever its right
[chorus]
Ive been thinking long and hard about the things you said to me
Like a bitter stranger
Now I see the long and short the middle and whats in between
I could spit on a stranger (pull me out)
Youre a bitter stranger (pull me out)
Whatever you feel
Whatever it takes
Whenever its real
Whatever awaits me
Whatever you need
However so slight
[chorus]
Honey, Im a prize and youre a catch and were a perfect match
Like two bitter strangers
Now I see the long and short of it and I can make it last
I could spit on a stranger (pull me out)
Youre a bitter stranger (pull me out)i could spit on a stranger (pull me out)
Youre a bitter stranger (pull me out)
I could spit on a stranger (pull me out)
Youre a bitter stranger (pull me out)
I see the sunshine in your eyes
Ill try the things you never try
Ill be the one that leaves you high, high, high

Im Alive
Your hands were covered in paint
The pillow smothered my cry
You were half charmer half snake
I lived in dreamtime
But Im alive
I survived you
And the bitter taste
The years I wasted
All the hate is gone
cause Im alive
Some nights Id sleep in the car
Just to escape you
You drove devotion too far
No-one could save you
But Im alive
I survived you
And the bitter taste
The years I wasted
All the hate is gone
cause Im alive
I still have visions of you
I still have nights to get through
And when the trust isnt true
I have these visions of you
I have these visions of you
And Im alive
I survived you
And the bitter taste
The years I wasted
All the hate is gone
cause Im alive
Im alive
Im alive
Ride on and fade away
Im alive
Theres nothing more to say
Im alive
Ride on and fade away
Im alive
Theres nothing more to say
Im alive
Ride on and fade away
And the bitter taste
The years I wasted
All the hate is gone

Dog Mumbo (a horror story)
Dog Mumbo
lives alone
since his master disappeared
in the corner house
in Suburb Bumbo
Mumbo stands with
his head at the window
paws on the sills
and when Stranger Whoever's
heart is touched
"O that poor thing,
so so sweet"
and comes in to pat the dog
Dog Mumbo invites
Stranger Whoever
to the master's seat
and closes the door;
and when Dog Mumbo turns round
to Stranger Whoever
it's no longer that poor thing,
so so sweet thing
For it goes straight for the heart
And so it lives alone
and feeds itself
same way its Master fed it
And I believe, you discerning reader,
have a name
so remember it well
and do not fancy yourself ever to be
Stranger Whoever

The Story
They met each other in the glade –
She lifted up her eyes;
Alack the day! Alack the maid!
She blushed in swift surprise.
Alas! Alas! the woe that comes from lifting up the eyes.
The pail was full, the path was steep –
He reached to her his hand;
She felt her warm young pulses leap,
But did not understand.
Alas! Alas! the woe that comes from clasping hand with hand.
She sat beside him in the wood –
He wooed with words and sighs;
Ah! love in spring seems sweet and good,
And maidens are not wise.
Alas! Alas! the woe that comes from listing lovers’ sighs.
The summer sun shone fairly down,
The wind blew from the south;
As his blue eyes gazed in eyes of brown,
His kiss fell on her mouth.
Alas! Alas! the woe that comes from kisses on the mouth.
And now the autumn time is near,
The lover roves away,
With breaking heart and falling tear,
She sits the livelong day.
Alas! Alas! for breaking hearts when lovers rove away.

Please Mr. Sandbar
How can I explain
well maybe I cant
mere words can't actualize the feelings I have
when I see a rainbow or
grassy dew
feelings of grandeur and I think of you
maybe a lifetime is only but a day
spent half in the misery of a bitter rain
or maybe it's corny of just
laughter on the brain
whenever I realize how much people change
we all get older
but we dont get wiser
some of use become sadder
others become misers
but one thing remains the same
please Mr. Sandbar take it away
For that sweet memory in June of '42
please Mr. Sandbar show me how to softshoe again
For that sweet girl I met in June of '42

Golden Kiss
await your roses in my dreams
Carriages of the troubadour well
Castles in fauve visions of Keats
Every cryptic flower sings of you
Now the world is extravagant grace
Elegant tendrils of spring’s rapture
Colors of the gardens divine wisdom
Love plants vines of mystic wine
Poetry as soft as summer flutes
My darling your eyes are like a forest
Night brings lips of serene moonlight
Joy shines over the sea of harmony
Adagios of romance like mystic begonias
Stars swirl and we are the dance of wind
Cupid has sent his sweet nightingales
Fountains of your heart pour into bliss
I am awakened by a golden kiss

Beyond The End
Jimmy buffet/marshall chapman/will jennings
1985 roy sings backing vocals
Mayan moon was burning
We saw visions of the past returning
On the shore the band was playing
We all heard what the moon was saying
The world keeps closing in
It has before, it will again
A voice beyond the wind
Says we must go beyond the end
So follow beyond the end
A sea of friends are singing
Vaya con dios mis amigos
We take their hopes and feelings
To some new world well be revealing
Old worlds keep closing in
They have before they will again
Voices call beyond the wind
Say we must go beyond the end
And follow beyond the end
Old worlds keep closing in
They have before they will again
Voices call beyond the wind
Say we must go beyond the end
Old worlds keep closing in
They have before they will again
Voices call beyond the wind
Say we must go beyond the end
And follow beyond the end....

Genius Michaelangelo Mozart
at the beck and call of mega rich patrons
privilege wealth painting your pride visions
to heights of Sistine Chapel David sculptures
our sight visions we are not time free to paint
our half dreams half truths become ultimate truths
altar where wealth coverts possesses genius
we gift love compassion nobility birthright feelings
this world toys with covert passion visions
artists catalogued buy sell exchange brochures
Mozart gifted music divine to sooth masses
Mozart body discarded into mass grave paupers
our heart beats stripped bare leaf brown ash on winds
sealed in wooden coffin at 35 countless are melodies
unwritten buried in plot with corpse four or five others
a plight poor wooden marker to identify group graves

The Slave’s Lament
It was in sweet Senegal that my foes did me enthrall
For the lands of Virginia-ginia O;
Torn from that lovely shore, and must never see it more,
And alas! I am weary, weary O!
Torn from &c.
All on that charming coast is no bitter snow and frost,
Like the lands of Virginia-ginia O;
There streams for ever flow, and there flowers for ever blow,
And alas! I am weary, weary O!
There streams &c.
The burden I must bear, while the cruel scourge I fear,
In the lands of Virginia-ginia O;
And I think on friends most dear with the bitter, bitter tear,
And Alas! I am weary, weary O!
And I think &c.
