Scanning the land,
With her soft and alert eyes;
Searching for the 'clawed' ones
Whose thought alone chilled her spine,
With a thorough look at every side
Only after the last vestige of doubt had died;
She called him just like her mother used to,
In her soft and alert voice,

' Come my son, come....'

Protecting him from the unseen danger,
She could not risk being scared;
Because with every step she took she knew,
History would shout 'encore',
For the day when her mother made her run,
But never met her at home,
And all that she remembered of her,
Was her soft and alert voice,

' Run my daughter, run....'

She eyed her son to be sure,
But quickly focused away,
To the silent movements in the land,
To the visible unseen danger;
They were far, she could escape,
But her son was weak and slow,
And in a hurry she called to him,
In her soft and alert voice,

' Quick my son, quick....'

Faster than a bullet, swifter than the wind,
She could run and she knew that well,
But the thing she knew well the most,
Her son was weak and slow,
She had to protect him now,
He deserved no pain, was all she knew.
She turned around and fought her death,
She knew no pain, her son was safe,
And all she said while drifting to sleep,
Was in her soft and alert voice,

I thought I heard a sound
Somebody calling out to me
So I turned around
Strangers as far as I could see
Drifting through this crowd
Barely awake form last nights dream
I call your name out loud
I never thought youd answer

Stripped, Clawed and Flawed

Too many rather skip to a bar and nip.
Until they feel an alcoholic 'trip'.
And sit refusing to admit...
They're drowning denials that cause them fits.

Too many feel henpecked and nitpicked.
By spouses ripping them to bits.
And they choose then to bemoan their whims.
With others near,
Befriending them!

Spending every dime and feeling sick.
Leaving drunk with no left tip!
Stripped, clawed and flawed,
From a baring of emotions felt so raw!

A Vision Is Seen

I step from the cabin, you're standing there,
Your smile it warms, like a soft summer air,
We walk thru the forest, our minds adrift,
We look in amazement, to all of Gods gifts.

We talk of times, and places we've seen,
Imagine possibilities, of what might have been,
You see the present, I see the past,
We both see a future, and pray it will last.

A distant light's dawning, a vision is seen,
We travel and learn, and find things serene,
We now see our lives, and travel as one,
To a beginning, that greets the new sun.

Enlightenment unabated, and treasures abound,
Searching for answers, and advise that's sound,
You do your healing, and I the repairs,
To both our lives seem, to be without cares.

Life will be grand, of this there's no doubt,
If only you let, your inner self out,
Try to hold on, to that vestige of me,
For this will all happen, and time is the key.

Mid-Night Oil

I have burned the mid-night oil
and my brain is weary.
I have burned the mid-night oil
and my eyes are teary.

Things look better in daytime.
The darkness brings on thought.
Problems become magnified
and you feel like you are caught

inside a darkened tunnel,
not able to find your way out.
If it wasn't for approaching daylight
you would live in doubt.

You'd doubt the thought inside your head
would ever go away.
You'd doubt the thought could disappear
in the light of day.

You'd doubt the thought could not return
and you'd burn the mid-night oil.
You'd doubt the thought that on the ensuing night
you'd burn the mid-night oil.

Land of snow

I dreamt of a land, a land so high,
A land of snow which touches the sky,
Where the rivers are born, and torn apart
To wash the sins of many eyes.

On the snowy hill, where the waters chilled,
Would touch my lips, have my thirst killed,
I sit and bite on the blowing wind
And have in me some snow filled.

The dream broke with a sudden blow,
Oh! An upheavel on the top floor,
I get off my bed and wet my face,
And walk on my land of no snow.

Green Eyes Blue

Waking with warmth in my heart and your golden body next to me
A smile on my face morning upon morning
Minds eye scanning memory of every touch, sound, sight of you

Bushmen

Rugged men and tough men these,
Men of the lonely ways,
Hard and sturdy as their trees
Where the timbered ranges raise
Their ragged crests to rake the sky;
For the call has come again,
As oft it came in the years gone by,
And the Bush sends forth her men.

Silent men, with eyes alert,
Tramping the hillside steep,
Where the giant trees at the mountain's skirt
Their lonely vigil keep;
Fighting their way where the tangled fern
Covers an ancient track,
Plying the lore that the bushmen learn
Thro' the lonely years outback.

The men of the forest are out once more,
Searching early and late.
As they searched thro' many a day before,
For many a missing mate.
Or a wandering stranger gone astray
In the land of the towering tree,
That has become for all today
The land of tragedy.

And, while the task is a task for men,
Ne'er will they call a stop.
They will tramp the wild bushland again,
And tramp until they drop,
With never a thought for the hours ill-spared
From the labor of the day
To the men of the forest whom fate has dared,
There's nought but to obey.

Did I Really See That?

A woman on our bed wearing my gown with ma woman
Sleeping on my side of the bed?
Am I replaced?
So quick?
I thought we were going to talk
About it
Try to work it out
I cancelled all my plans
In a manner to surprise you
I didn't like the way things went
The other day
And now I get home
To find this?

A woman on our bed
Wearing my gown with ma woman on ma side of da bed
Am I replaced?
Just like that?
I thought what we had meant
Something to you
I thought we had a connection
I thought fate had brought us
Together
I thought our future
Was written somewhere
In heaven
Most of all I thought the feeling

For 5years I was relaxed

Wasn't looking

A squirrel
Races down a black
Iron pipe
Wagging her tail,

Full of energy

I watch
