The Broken Prmoise

He promised her a romantic night,
So she got ready and left around midnight,
The town centre was wrapped in a blanket of fog,
She stood outside the leisure centre and she felt odd,
As other couples past her by,
Dressed all in black; boots; jacket and hat,
Her hands were cold as ice,
Her eyes sparkled like stars,
She heard the clock chime and looked at the time,
She sighed then looked left and right,
To see if her lover was in sight,
But he was nowhere to be seen,
So she lit up a cigarette; the smoke blended in with the fog,
An hour had past,
She decided this is was the last,
Time he broken a promise,
As tears were falling from her eyes,
Like tiny snow crystals,
She disappeared into the mist.

Past a house

We yesterday
drove past a house
near a shopping centre

and at the front wall
the plaster was broken,
the garden that was something
at a time
was treaded to pieces
and left uncared.

The front door hanged decaying
and when my eyes
walked down the corridor
some of the ceiling was missing,
and the wooden floor
was being used for firewood

It seemed as if the house
was now really becoming a ruin
and a naked black toddler
were crawling outside

and a very thin dog
looked as if it never got food
and my darling said:

“We stayed here at a time
and once this house
belonged to us
and it was a beautiful place
and just see how it looks now.”

Goodbye Again

I'm on the outside, looking in
What do I see?
So much of this left to begin
Where would I be?
I'm on the outside, looking in
Cover me through this night
Guess I don't know what's, left to say
But hear me out
All of the dreams of, yesterday
Keep breaking me down
What's on the outside, can you say
Or am I getting carried away
It's in your mind
It's in your eyes
So it's goodbye again
It's way past time
For one last try
So it's goodbye again
Goodbye... again
I'm getting on, what's the use
You know how I get
I can't decide which is the truth
At least not yet
I got the feeling, it's you
What can be said, alone in this room
No...
It's in your mind
It's in your eyes
So it's goodbye again
It's way past time
For one last try
Who wants you now?
Maybe somebody else
I'll wait around
Maybe you'll forget you were ever here
Maybe forget you were ever, never here
I'm on the outside, looking down
What do I see?
So much of this cold, in the ground
Where would i be?
On the outside, looking down
Cover me before you go
It's in your mind
It's in your eyes
So it's goodbye again
It's way past time
For one last try
So it's goodbye again
Your falling out,
I'm falling in
So it's goodbye again
It's way past time
For one last try
So it's goodbye... again
So it's goodbye again

Judith and You and A Morning Mist

The morning mist
that hung over

the pond (or your lake
as Judith called it)

had moved away
by the time she came

and stood next to you
wrapped up in her

Sunday best
waiting until the time

for the bus to take
you both to sing

in the church
her breath flowing out

on the air
like cigarette smoke

her eyes focused
on the skin

of the still water
I dreamt of you

last night
she said

you and I
were snuggled

together in my bed
having made love

you watched
a magpie take flight

over the water
nice

wish I could
have been there

in person
you said

more breath
left her lips

and rose upwards
maybe next time

you can
she said

turning her head
spreading her lips

into a smile
just be my luck

your mother
will invade the dream

and catch us
you said

yes
Judith said

that would
spoil the dream

some what
there was a mist

over the pond earlier
you said

it looked beautiful
she turned

and stared
over the water

I missed that
as you missed

making love to me
in my dream

she whispered
drawing closer

her hands
taking hold

of yours
what did you

dream about?
she asked

an empty bed
and cold sheets

and a space
where you should

have been
you said

she smiled
and said

I couldn't be
in both beds

at once could I?
once more

there was the rising
of her breath

you couldn't tell her
you'd seen

an image
of her death.

A Survival Of Love

On a mid-winter's night
when the stars were bright
a stranger came into town.
As he looked around
it was then that he found
that all of the ground was white.

It was beautiful to see
and he wondered if she
would be looking out at the snow?
All the time he'd been gone
as he approached the front lawn,
he prayed that there she would be.

His hands were so cold.
They were wrinkled and old
but they remembered the feel of her face.
So much time had passed by.
Many tears they did cry,
not knowing what their future did hold,

In between all the years
there'd been so many tears
not knowing where he did go?
He'd been hit on the head
robbed and then left for dead.
but survived and as his head clears

He cannot recall
who he is at all.
No memories of whom he had been.
What was his name?
Was he insane?
Amnesia had created a wall.

He had a wife
who prayed for his life,
never giving up hope he'd return.
Every day she would go
and look out at the snow
as the years had brought nothing but strife.

Not knowing at all that his amnesia's wall
came suddenly crumbling down.
He remembered his past.
He traveled there fast
and he came to the town of snowfall.

As he approached in the snow
she was at the window,
looking at what she thought was a ghost.
Trembling to see
Was it really he?
She opened the door very slow.

She felt his hand.
His hand held a strand
of her hair that was white like the snow.
They couldn't let go
for they both did know
that their lives ended just as God planned.

Boots

I found a pair of boots upon the street
So I took them home to wear on my feet
I washed them I cleaned them and I aired them out
So I could put them all later when I would walk about.
I put my new boots on, and I walked down the road
They seemed so very sturdy to carry my heavy load
Then they took me places where I have never been
I could tell that these boots were very well broken in.
They felt so very soft and comfortable upon my feet
How excited I was for my new boots others would see.
And when I did my walk many persons just stared
As they looked at my new boots but I really never cared.
Maybe they too just wanted boots just like mine
But this one thing I knew they were hard for me to find.
I had so much fun with my brand new pair of boots
We walked everywhere they placed me in a happy mood
And the longer that I walked still no pain did I feel
I was excited and content my life became so surreal.
So it started to get late so I decided to walk home
So that's were we head just me and my boots alone
And then when I took them off I placed them beside my bed
So I could be ready for my next journey or adventure ahead.
I wore those boots of mine for many, many years
They always felt so comfortable never brought me any tears
I would wash them and clean them and polish them too
Now they were always mine and they always looked brand new.
Then one day I wore another pair of shoes when I went out
I left my old boots home alone so they could air out
So myself and my new shows were gone most of the day
As I had errands to run and also many bills to pay.
But sadly when I got home I was taken by surprise
My boots were stolen and that brought tears to my eyes
I thought to myself who would steal those old boots of mine
Boots that have been worn and used who would commit that crime.
So I went out and bought so many different pairs of shoes
And none are that old as they are all seemingly brand new
I still go for my walks and I still go to town and all about
My feet are so much happier now I myself with joy wanna shout
But every now and then I think about those boots I once wore
The ones I found on the street and I never bought in the store
I wonder now if they are ragged and torn and beyond repair
But that's someone else problem now, so why would I care.

My Shadow

Things I have left behind
Within an effort to move forward,
Counting every minute, every second-
Reliving my life through every hour, day and year-
The night time sky is falling before my own eyes
Blocking the pathway before me, blinding me-
I cannot foresee a future-The rain that fell every time
I tried to venture outward,
Rain that transformed to tears
When all hope had ostensibly disappeared.
Things I have left behind-
Places where I had been locked inside,
Having lost grounds with all that is real-
Perhaps a few roses in a cracked vase by my bedside,
A mother that did not care and a father that did not believe-
When through my own eyes my world had fallen to pieces.
I left behind many people-
People I did not trust and it was then that I knew
I had to rebuild my foundation,
To build a future for myself that would be mine and mine alone-
Things I have left behind are now
Gone and gone forever-all that is left is time-
Time to move on and to bury the past in my back yard and
Search for hope, a purpose and a new reality.
These things I have left behind are sinking into the ground-
Now I can foresee a future- the flame on my candle is burning
Guiding me as I run forward into a garden of blossoming trees and
A paved pathway upon which to run forward- and a cloudless sky
Where I can lift my wings, once broken and are healing, and fly-
Fly high above looking down below at my newfound veracity-
I know if I were to take a look behind-
All I could see would be a shadow upon a sidewalk-
A shadow of my past and everybody knows that shadows don't last forever, and
All else that I have left behind is gone forever,
Looking forward at the allure of the springtime and
I see clearly now- there is no more rain and as I look above me
I can see trees seemingly touching the sun against a deep blue sky-
I can see clearly now because my eyes are open wide and
There are no tears to cry today and when I glance behind me-
All I see is a shadow- that shadow of my past, vanishing in the late spring's breeze-

The Fog (Story)

The fog moved slowly across the ground
Like a cat on the prowl.
Everything was as quiet as can be
Not even a rustle in the trees.

Out of the mist she walked slowly towards me
Her eyes was the only thing that I could see.
They glowed like lanterns in the night
My heart jumped - my mind took flight.

So many thoughts going thru my head
Am I alive or am I dead?
What is this that I am seeing
Or is my mind playing tricks
And having me believe it.

As she came closer she started to take
An hour glass shape, and all dressed
Up in black pants, blouse, boots
And black cape.
Was I to die? Was this my fate?

Her eyes black as her outfit and hypnotic
As can be, and the softness of her voice
Capturing me.

'You look like you've seen a ghost' she said
I looked at her eyes then bowed my head.
She was the most beautiful woman that
I had ever seen or ever met
But something about her that I couldn't
Figure out yet.

Then the thought came to me ' vampire diary'.
I knew that this was only a movie, and no such
Thing exists. 'but' - what if?
I did not hear her heels as she walked up to me
And her eyes as big as can be, taking full control of me.
I felt my body go limp as I lost my self in her eyes
Then she licked her lips, and I felt I was paralyzed.

She took my face in her hands and kissed me OH SO TENDERLY
And in her arms was where I wanted to be.
Her lips like the taste of wine warming my every being
This was all that I was seeing.

She unbuttoned my shirt and started kissing my chest
Then I felt her climb up to my neck.
Her breath so hot that it sent chills down my spine
To last me till the ends of time.

She kissed me again and her tongue went deep inside
To a point that I wanted to cry,
She pulled away then looked at me
And opened her mouth very wide

AND THEN IT HAPPENED! I woke up!

Ha Ha hope you liked the ending.

Snow

Early in the morning, I stood at at my window
In my flat in a Chicago suburb,
And was delighted to see the snow
Gracefully descending on earth.

Fascinated I looked on,
As a carpet of powder white
Noiselessly spread on the ground.
Trees with outstretched arms, a pretty sight.

The memories of Christmas back home
Flashed across my mind,
How we went of to sleep in the hope,
That Santa Claus would come at night.

I snapped out of my reverie,
And pulled out my muffler and coat.
Excited like a child, in a hurry
Put on my gloves and boots.

As I rushed out
Of the warmth of my room,
To feel the snow in my hair
Chill crept down to my bones.

I made a Snow man
And aimed snowballs at no one.
For sometime I think then
I felt I was not alone.

In an alien land,
Thousands of miles away from home,
I didn’t feel sad,
It was cold but I felt warm.

The view was straight out of a picture book.
My boots had sunk into the snow.
I couldn’t take my eyes off and just looked,
And marvelled at nature’s show.

(Blind) Fear In My Eyes

i looked at my eyes
for the very first time
all i could see
were the blind fear in my eyes
i roared off in the middle of thought
...where is everyone when i need them most?
i asked, not
in grief or anger, in despair may be

on foot, my face and lips all cracked
as i ventured into the jungle, my teeth chattered
in cold but very hot emotions of wondering
how luck could have left me so alone,

i squat to the feeling of nothingness
like a stone falling from a distant heart
and narrowly escaped with my life at heart
tried to suppress my memories at heart
and my blood runs in cold as i recollect
a sudden cry over my shoulder at once
i looked at my eyes again; at once

and spoke timidly to my person's eyes
how hard it were without surprise
of any emotional upheaval to rise
as the wind blew into every crack of mine
and soaked my person to the skin one time
as i looked straight into my eyes

i could see how the grass
and flowers
sprout and spring in intimacy
but pain
within
for all i had w
ere all lost and gone again
like the tiny little butterflies
on my mind
that covered all my thoughts to the end
with misery written all over my face
and looked a sorry sight on my face
i could barely see myself
and still looked blindly at my eyes
at last, and rested

Mouths To Feed...

the wind called...
and i went walking,
down hard edged streets,
past the abandoned and forsaken...

through dirt and filth,
grime, grease, and soot.
down past the edge of town...
i made camp by the tracks.

haunted by the sounds
of living now just echoes,
echoes and shadows,
shadows almost forgotten.

haunted by the faces,
the dreams, the fires now ash...
the smell of need and
the harsh stench of hunger.

i made a leanto from yesterday's boards,
built a small fire, hunched
against the cold and the howl.
into a small pot all that was left,

and waited for the Guest to arrive.
day became sunset, sunset night.
the darkness wrapped with murky doubt.
then, from behind the clouds,

one star shone through...
and i knew the time,
i knew the answer...
no time for sleep, no sleep for dreams,

i spent the night making ready.
and stood to face the dawn,
with nothing left to hide,
and nothing left to cling to!

a new day, perhaps my last,
one day to make a life.
i turned back towards the town,
and went in search of...

mouths to feed, tears to wipe away!

Surprisingly Alive

Happiness is gone, it disappeared
It played me for years making me feel I deserved it
It was positive, and left me an optimist
I saw life through different eyes with happiness
It made me see what cannot be seen
It made me feel feelings I had not bothered to explore
I felt free beneath it's control
I felt invincible in it's arms
Happiness was my everything, it was my soul
It was what kept me moving forward
It was what made me want to live, to breath, to be
Then one day it left, it walked out on me
It left nothing behind but memories I could not have again
It walked out and never looked back
It walked out on me when I needed it the most
It pretended like nothing ever happened between us
Happiness kicked me towards sadness, it shoved me towards it
Then it left after it saw what happened
It got weak and left me alone
It left me crying behind the door
It left me bleeding on the bathroom floor
It left me wishing I had never lived
It left me screaming into my pillow in pain with sadness
It left me walking aimlessly at night with tears crawling down my face
It left me with the words 'I give up' floating above my head
It left me imagining what death would taste like
It left me cold, scared, hopeless, alone
It left...

The Homeless

Dry and cold were the bitter winds
that crackled the ice on the panes.
Dry and cold were the old woman's hands,
red and raw from the pains.

Old were these winds that had no end.
They surfaced every winter.
Old were the hands that were this woman's
that felt as if they would splinter.

The winter winds were not welcome
for she had no place to go.
Looking for shelter from the cold,
she welcomed the sight of snow.

For the snow would blanket the box she was in
for a night or two.
She stayed inside it for many long hours
as if it were an igloo.

All through the hours she rubbed her hands.
Through a slit she looked to view,
looking for a slant of sunshine soon
but still the cold winds blew.

This is the plight of the homeless.
This is a curse on our lands.
They found her dead when the sun finally came
with stiff and frozen hands.

Starting Again

Music: Barry Manilow
Lyrics: Marty Panzer
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And it started again And I meant every word
And I liked what I said
And I liked what I heard
And I started to think
I could think about starting again
We were laughing again
Over memories and wine
And the years in between
Didn't seem a long time
When I smiled she knew why
In a while it was starting again
And I started to think I could feel again
All the bad times seemed unreal
When I looked in her eyes
The cheating, the lies,
The things that were wrong seemed far behind
And I started to think I could care again
And my fears all disappeared
When she called me by name
I knew that she'd changed
The flaws were all gone
The Saint remained
But it started again when I asked her to stay
And she said, "There's this friend who's in town just today"
And she really felt bad, but she had to be leaving again
And she left me again as she'd left me before
Still pretending she cared when we kissed at the door
But I saw in her eyes that the lies were all starting again
Just when I started to feel again
When all the bad times seemed unreal
When it all seemed so right and I thought that tonight
If she said she cared, she really might
Just when my fears disappeared again
And I heard what I wanted to hear
It all started again
And I knew what that meant
It wasn't the start
It was really the end

Struggle for Time

Time sits still when you want it to pass
Tic-Toc goes the seconds, Re-united at last
But this Time, I felt like the clock was against me
It didnt want this to happen
Yet Time for you, gave you time to be
to be yourself and to above all be free
But time for me, felt like slavery
Locked down in a prison of bitter-sweet savory
Time for you gave you time to let others in
Time for me stopped, I couldnt tell when again It'd begin
While Time worked against me, I fought back in a counter-clockwise direction
Pushing the forces of time in reverse,
But then I realized fighting time, let Time win
Because time ran on its own schedule
And though time is of the essence, time hasnt given me his blessings
And now Time for me, has run out
Time took hope with him too
Just when I thought time took all that it could,
Time rushed back in, and took all that was good
Time left me broke, so I worked hard for that overtime pay
But Time rushed back in, and took that away
I said I'd get it another day
So Time decided to leave me stuck in the past
I decided to sleep. Hoping Time would leave me atlast
And leave my eloped hope with me, and all that is good in peace
Time left in my dreams that night, And i woke up to the
Tic-Toc of the seconds, and I was re-united at last

The Long Way Home

Tiny squeaks from the snow
As if I’d stepped
upon a mouse

The temperature hovers at zero
A walk sounded nice…
Before I left the house

I gave it thought
For about a moment
Trying to decide…yes or no

But a long look
out the window
made me bundle up and go

The bare limbs and sere winds
Beckoned me deep
into the woods

While the piquant prickle
Of pins and needles
Bade me snugly pull up my hood

I thought only to take
A short brisk
Moonlight walkabout

But the blue of the moon
Highlighting crystals of snow
Gave me pause as to why I was out

I embraced the cold, kissed the wind,
Held the moon… and felt the snow
As my own

I inhaled deeply of the winter
Looked back at my warm abode
And decided instead…to take

…the long way home…

The Lonely Room

Tiptoe around the room.
What is it that is found?
Silence, except for the clock that's ticking
nothing else is around.
An empty room with nothing in it,
only the clock that ticks the minute
in this lonely room.

Why was the clock left behind
with not a soul to tell the time?
It was on the mantelpiece
with nobody to hear it chime.
Was it left as a reminder?
I think it would have been kinder
to remove it from the room.

Left alone, it had no purpose.
Who could hear it now?
Ghosts from the past that once lived here
that have taken a vow
to listen to the clock's every minute
in the room with nothing in it
but the ghosts and the time.

One Chistmas Eve,1938

The snow was gently falling,

the gusts of wind the only sound.

The branches of the trees were white,

Snow drifted on the ground.

The couple walking through the snow

wore layers of warm clothes.

Their cheeks, half frozen from the cold,

the only skin exposed.

How good it felt to step inside

And close the wind away.

Soon the kettle made a cheery sound-

Hot chocolate on its way..

In the corner stood a Christmas tree

The best they could afford

Dressed with tinsel and with ornaments

to celebrate the Lord.

Theirs was not the largest house

Nor the newest on the block

They tried hard to live sensible

by staying out of hock.

Last Christmas had been difficult

Jobs had been hard to find.

The husband worked at two or three

Taking what he could part time.

This Christmas looked much better.

They were comfortable and warm

They listened on the radio

To a sweet Tenor’s Christmas song

In the distance they heard church bells chime

As Midnight mass was sung

And the babe, there in the manger,

was revealed to old and young.

Her husband held her in his arms

as she opened up his gift.

He thought she rather liked it

By her warm and loving kiss.

Stranger

On a cold and windy morning, said goodbye to my old friends
They were hangin around the corner,
They were stayin till the end
On the other side of midnight,
I was lookin for a place to stay
And one things sure for certain,
I aint never goin back again
The streetlights looked so pretty as they spread into a town
I was lookin for another sundown
And my head was spinning round and round
Chorus: lookin through the eyes of a stranger
Lookin through the eyes of danger
Lookin at the all-night dancer
Never takin all the chances
As I walked into the main street, saw a crowd across the square
And I heard a guitar playin and I saw you standing there
Chorus
Distant bells they started ringing, somewhere far off in the night
And the place was full of loneliness that disappeared from sight

When tommorow begins without me

When tomorrow begins the new day,
I will not be here for you to see.
Please dont let the sun rise
and see the tears you shed for me.
I don't want you to cry for me like you did today.
I wish so much you wouldn't cry.
The way you did today,

I know how much you loved me,
And I loved you all too.
And of corse I understand that you'll miss me.
I will miss you too but your all in my heart.

But now when tomorrow begins without me,
Please try to find it in your heart understand.
Gods angels called my name,
They reached out a hand to me and said it's time to go.
And So I took theire hand.
My place was ready in heaven above.

I cried tears as I lert you all behind.
But you'll be coming with me in my heart.
But as I turned to walk away a tear fell from my eye.
For all my lifeI wanted to the fight todie.

In the end I felt there wasn't much left for me.
And yet I wanted one more day.
I wanted to say my goodbyes but is the one thing I couldn't do.
But then I f realised this could never be.
For you would have stopped me even though my time had come.

And when I thought of you all left behind.
My heart was filled with guilt sorrow.
But as I walked through heaven's gates,
I felt peace and harmony.

When God looked at me and smiled at me,
He said Amy this is eternity.
Here you can start afresh.
I promise you no tomorrows only today.
Your life on earth is now your past.

Here you don't have to worry about your past.
God said to me Amy come take my hand.
And it was then I finally began to understand.
God had choosen my pain to end.

So when tomorrow begins without me,
Please know we are not apart,
We live on in each others hearts

Once Upon A Time

The hours late and the lights are low
Im walking home just kicking stones
I waited at the deopt you never showed
You missed the last bus hours ago
I remember the first time
I saw you on the street
You looked so pretty my heart skipped a beat
I cant wait any longer but I still feel the heat
Im down but Im still on my feet
I walked on down the old fairground
Up from the docks blew a lonely sound
I sat for a while on the cold hard ground
Watched the stars slowly turn as the earth spun around
As the past falls behind up ahead theres a crack
Of light shining bright through the night so black
Like a runaway train rolling down the track
From here theres no turning back
Listen to me baby
Once upon a time
My heart was an ocean
You swam against the tide
The time is past for grieving
My tears have all run dry
Ill leave you with my love
And now I say goodbye
The bottles broke the glasses are cracked
The cards are all dealt and the chips have been stacked
The lamp shades busted and the curtains are torn
The door keeps knocking but theres nobody home
I stood by the road brushed a tear from my eye
Cursed the cars and the rain and the rolling grey sky
I turned around turned my back on that town
And I never looked back again
