Centre Stage
There were times when I was young
I wanted to be centre stage,
the one everyone screamed to for more
whenever I sang my song.
As the years progressed
and I could see it wasn’t going to happen,
I grew content to sit in the stalls
and watch someone else take the applause.
I realized that centre stage
wasn’t where I wanted to be
and that I could entertain
just by being me.
I did not need a spotlight
to show the sparkle in my eyes.
I did not need to dress up
to be someone I wasn’t,
I didn’t need a centre stage,
I only need to be me.
I didn’t need glitz and glamour,
just an opportunity to give others pleasure
from any talent that I had.
I didn’t need the centre stage,
but just a means of escape
and just be ordinary me.

Obsession
Dress me up a thousand ways, You're counting down the days, Till I fall from my pedestal, And then you can rescue me, All the world can see, You're the centre of it all, We gave it our best try, But then it was goodbye, We were better off alone, But now that's all gone for you, And life is wrong for you, But I can't help that, You don't need love, It's a question of obsession, So drawn to your own reflection, You want someone, Like a personal possession, To shine light on your perfection, Call me up a thousand times, You're hanging on the line, Waiting for me to react, But we've been here before, And when I closed the door, I never wanted a second act, I saw it all clearly, But you didn't hear me, Thought our love was centre stage, But now that's all gone for us, And you are dangerous, And I can't help that, Gave my heart a thousand times, And I can't count the nights, That I cried myself to sleep, But now I'm so over you, And I see what you do, Your sincerity's kinda cheap, Remember the mind games, Driving me insane, When my life was not my own, And even though you have gone, It still carries on, And I can't stop it.

Get Off The Stage
Oh, you silly old man
You silly old man
Youre making a fool of yourself
So get off the stage
You silly old man
In your misguided trousers
With your mascara and your fender guitar
And you think you can arouse us ?
But the song that you just sang
It sounds exactly like the last one
And the next one
I bet you it will sound
Like this one
Downstage, and offstage
Dont you feel all run in ?
And do you wonder when they will take it away ?
This is your final fling
But then applause ran high
But for the patience of the ones behind you
As a verse drags on like a month drags on
Its very short, but it seems very long
And the song that you just sang
It sounds exactly like the last one
And the next one
I bet you it will sound
Like this one
So, get off the stage
Oh, get off the stage
And when we get down off of the stage
Please stay off the stage - all day !
Get off the stage
Oh, get off the stage
And when weve had our money back
Then Id like your back in plaster
Oh, I know that you say
How age has no meaning
Oh, but here is your audience now
And theyre screaming :
Get off the stage
Oh, get off the stage
Because Ive given you enough of my time
And the money that wasnt even mine
Have you seen yourself recently ?
Oh, get off the stage
Oh, get off the stage
For whom, oh ...
For whom, oh ...
For whom, oh ...
For whom, oh ...
Get off the stage
Get off the stage
Get off the stage
For whom the bell tolls

A Lure For The Spotlight
A lure for the spotlight
lies in everyone somewhere.
At some point in our lives,
everyone wants the centre stage
and have the spotlight on them.
Some just dream about it
to pass the time away,
other have a natural gift
and in the spotlight stay.
When the spotlight shines on you
scrutinizing everything you do,
you want it to go away.
You want your life
to go back to the way it was.
However, when the spotlight
has been on you
it will never leave you alone.
It will be with you
for the rest of your days.

Church of the Little Drummer Boy
He didn't do it for money,
He didn't to it for power,
It wasn't an inside job,
And he probably wasn't real.
But he wasn't controlled by the Mafia,
Maybe he was just a dream,
Or maybe just a hope,
Of what Christmas might mean.
Over the years many a child
Has heard of the Little Drummer Boy,
How he played his drum for Jesus
To bring the Baby some joy.
He didn't do it to be a big shot,
He wasn't Ginger Baker,
He played out of musical love,
And he wasn't a faker.
If you're looking for religion,
The Drummer Boy is good to go,
I mean, he's as churchy as it gets,
Considering the show.

O Night
O night what is this
Which you have shown to me
A play built upon my worlds stage
With a cast of friends I see
A burgeoning love does grow
From where did it begin
Tell me now o night, tell me now
That which I have desired
My not to secret thoughts
Are centre stage in this piece
A tale the like of which I dream
Is this a sign for me to follow
That upon the stage I shall find
The love I have sought so often
The beginning of my life
Light the spot and hand my script
That I may stand and find
O night is this what is to be
Or is it all but a dream

Open Stage Poetry Reading
After the one that sings, and after the one
that can make up poems of a kind right on the spot;
after a girl who didn't . . . walk very well,
took five minutes to get from her seat to the stage
then read one poem with hardly any words in it
and halted the whole way back in a staggering silence;
after the bald one's rhymes about this teeth;
a woman got up whose poems won't write down,
it's all in the way the voices in her come out.
We went to a medium once, and a woman locked
in a trance let a dead man come inside her and talk.
She held herself like . . . a woman being a man.
That's what it was at the open stage poetry reading,
and I left without talking, I hadn't come expecting it.
What could I have told her, I think it's a dead man?
It wasn't something I wanted to get that close to.
I could never do it myself, let a dead man come in-
or would it be, into me, a dead woman that would come?

Not Waving but Drowning
I was to far out further than anyone should be, I screamed for help but they were silenced by the waves so no one could hear my cries
I was to far out further than anyone should be, and I looked to you for help but you didn't see that, you thought I was splashing and having fun but I wasn't I was drowning and you didn't even notice
I was to far out further than anyone should be, I started to become restless as the waves toppled over me and as the sun beat down I realized the end was near and I was tired of fighting, so I closed my eyes and let the waves take me away but by the time you realized something was wrong it was already to late, I was already gone
I was to far out further than anyone should be, not waving but drowning, looking back on it all you finaly seen that I wasn't splashing and having fun but that I needed help
Sadly by the time you realized all of this you were laying a rose on my coffin

In Germany, they first came for the communists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Catholic. Then they came for me -- and by that time there was nobody left to speak up.

Tell Me
Tell me I wasn't true
Tell me I didn't believe in you
Tell me a moment I didn't share
Tell me when I acted like I didn't care
Tell me a moment with me that was hard to bear
Tell me when I was fake
Tell me the time we spent wasn't great
Tell me I wasn't a good friend
Tell me I wouldn't have your back until the end
Tell me I treated you like a child
Tell me a time I couldn't make you smile
Tell me a time I didn't miss you
Tell me I never kissed you
Tell me a time I used you
Tell me a time I abused you
Tell me you're not all I have
Tell me when I didn't speak on your behalf
Tell me when I didn't have your back
What I'm seeing I feel like you're telling me all of that

Centre Of Attention (Fun Poem 41)
You will find wherever you go
someone who wants to be
the centre of attention.
Personally, it is not a road
I want to go down.
Myself I would rather be the shrinking violet,
the one sat on the shelf.
Unfortunately, the more I try to hide,
the more obvious I become.
Therefore, I am marched down to centre stage,
so someone can have some fun,
but as I am a fun loving person,
I'll play along with them.
I don’t mind being the stooge,
whom they can poke fun at.
After all, I’m only a short six foot three inches tall.
Therefore, they have a little bit to poke fun at.
Then the people start laughing,
well let me tell you now.
Laughter is magic to my ears,
it mean people are happy,
and I like that sound,
even if they are laughing at me.
Laughter is good medicine;
it helps so many lose their blues.
Therefore, if I get called upon,
to a place I don’t want to be,
so long as someone gets a laugh,
that is all that matters to me.

There are many stages to a man's life. In the first stage, he is young and eager, like a beaver. In the second stage, he wants to build things, like dams, and maybe chew down some trees. In the third stage, he feels trapped, and then 'skinned.'' I'm not sure what the fourth stage is.

Happiness in change of stages
I went on foot to far away school.
Then I rode on a bicycle with a pride.
Later two-wheeler took me to pedestal.
Now a car. In each stage I was happy.
In each stage the intensity was same.
Every up stage is a happy stage
till it is replaced by the next stage.

Forever
THERE'S NO PRESENT THERE'S NO FUTURE
I DON'T EVEN KNOW ABOUT THE PAST
IT'S ALL TIMELESS AND NEVER ENDING
TO TAKE IT IN IT'S ALL TOO VAST
IT GOES - FOREVER AND EVER
YOU THOUGHT YOU KNEW BUT YOU NEVER
THERE GOES
TOMMOROW
JOURNEY TO THE CENTRE OF ETERNITY
JOURNEY TO THE CENTRE OF ETERNITY
THE TIME IS COMING BUT ALSO GOING
AND IT'S LEAVING NEVER TO RETURN
MAYBE FOREVER IT COULD BE HEAVEN
BUT IF IT'S HELL THEN YOU CAN WATCH ME BURN
IT GOES - FOREVER AND EVER
YOU THOUGHT YOU KNEW BUT YOU NEVER
THERE GOES
TOMMOROW
I GOT TO TRAVEL FOREVER
IT'S ALL WITHIN MY MIND
AN ENDLESS PATH TO ENDEAVOUR
BUT FOREVER IS A LONG LONG TIME
THERE'S NO SECRETS AND NO CORRUPTION
IN THE CENTRE OF INFINITY
THERE'S NO LIMITS IN NON-EXISTENCE
AND NO BEGINING TO MY DESTINY
IT GOES - FOREVER AND EVER
YOU THOUGHT YOU KNEW BUT YOU NEVER
THERE GOES

All I Wanted Was to Make YOU Proud
This fire in my blood
This fire in my eyes
The fire that come shooting,
right out of my damned mouth.
This fire of the rage!
This fire of the pain.
This fire of the anger,
that is burning in my head
I feel all the hatred
I feel so damn used
Walked through streets so flooded,
to get a glimpse of you
I got nothing of you
I didn't even get a look
The closest i was to you,
was the radiation from my phone
I don't know what i was doing
I wasn't thinking straight
Just thought that you'd be happy
If i was really there
I thought that you'd be angered
And would say i didn't care
I risked my life!
I risked my health.
My family was in second place
You were first through my mind
You were my main concern
To make you happy was my wish..
It didn't come true
I feel crushed and devastated
I guess hard enough, i didn't try
It's my fault your ankles broken,
When the sirens sound, I start to cry
Did you want to see me?
Do you really care?
What if i'd been stolen?
What if i'd been raped?
Well, it would of been
all of my damned fault
I shouldn't take a risk
For things that don't matter
I took a risk for you
My life was on the line
I didn't even think it twice
About me, i didn't give a damn
All i wanted was to see you
I wanted to know you were alright
I wanted to make you happy
I wanted to make you proud
That you knew you had a girlfriend that was there,
no matter what
But apparently i wasn't there
I guess i wasn't at all
So maybe you want better
Someone that's truly there
No matter what...
I'm not good enough now
And maybe i deserved to be drenched.
Maybe i deserved to shed every tear that i shed
Maybe i deserved the cuts on my hands
Maybe i deserved it
Maybe I'm a waste
And at the end of it all,
who am I to blame? ..
No one but myself..

I knew that this was what I wanted to talk about on stage. There was no point being coy about it, or pretending that I wasn't gay. That was the substance of my whole act. If you took that away, there would be nothing left.

Stage Fright
Now deep in the heart of a lonely kid
Who suffered so much for what he did,
They gave this ploughboy his fortune and fame,
Since that day he aint been the same.
See the man with the stage fright
Just standin up there to give it all his might.
And he got caught in the spotlight,
But when we get to the end
He wants to start all over again.
Ive got fire water right on my breath
And the doctor warned me I might catch a death.
Said, you can make it in your disguise,
Just never show the fear thats in your eyes.
See the man with the stage fright,
Just standin up there to give it all his might.
He got caught in the spotlight,
But when we get to the end
He wants to start all over again.
Now if he says that hes afraid,
Take him at his word.
And for the price that the poor boy has paid,
He gets to sing just like a bird, oh, ooh ooh ooh.
Your brow is sweatin and your mouth gets dry,
Fancy people go driftin by.
The moment of truth is right at hand,
Just one more nightmare you can stand.
See the man with the stage fright
Just standin up there to give it all his might.
And he got caught in the spotlight,
But when we get to the end
He wants to start all over again, hmm hmm,
You wanna try it once again, hmm hmm,
Please dont make him stop, hmm hmm,
Let him take it from the top, hmm hmm,
Let him start all over again.

Once We Were Child
Once we were children
everything was supper
We could fly
if we hadn't trusted our mothers
Once there was no difference between boys and girls
Once it wasn't important, having wealth
How many times we fell on the ground?
We just wanted playing around
We always made a big noise
We didn't have to be poised
When we laughed in each case
But we didn't laugh in someone's face
Everything we had we did share
Which color? we didn't care
Once we were children
The sky was blue
The world wasn't so wild
That was the issue
When we loved it was real
Of dying, we didn't have any fear
Did we know what discrimination is?
Did we know how to tease?
Did we have lust? Could we tell a lie?
Now we have to tell to our childhood goodbye
Once we were children
The life was so funny
We were just called honey
And our world was summed up to our tiny
Homes.
Here is a feeling in my gut
That once we were child
How close we were to God
Spite of having no attention to God.
