Originality?

Repetition or revelation
Inspiration or imitation
Originality, individuality
Purpose, duality

Re-iteration of justification
Empty head, brain dead
Idiosyncratic representation
Copied, borrowed, re-worded
Or real

On Iteration & Repetition

On Iteration & Repetition

Thanks thanks thanks for stopping by
& inflating me for a few seconds.

Yes yes to all you say & thanks for
posting your poems as a sidekick.

You see I see we see the problem.
This great entity created repetition

to make us want to be like it
experiencing everything first-hand.

(Actually, iteration is a dead-end
and reincarnation is a dumb eternity)

Give me a break! That infamous He
could’ve done better

than a Rube Goldberg Design.

Borrowed

borrowed shirts, borrowed shoes,
borrowed books, borrowed thoughts,
borrowed bed, borrowed lover,
borrowed dreams, borrowed salt.

borrowed children, borrowed mothers,
borrowed study, borrowed lives.
borrowed God, borrowed heaven,
borrowed killers with borrowed knives.

borrowed flags, borrowed lies,
borrowed virtue, borrowed freedom.
borrowed bombs, borrowed bullets,
borrowed puppets, borrowed kingdoms.

borrowed soup bowls, borrowed numbers,
borrowed tents, borrowed bridge.
borrowed hope, borrowed survival,
borrowed till it's sacrilige!

Groove Dub

[ music: john lombardo/lyric: natalie merchant ]
Imitate that soured old song
There is no individuality
Only guises
Shades of
Nonconformity
There is no individuality
Selling vantage points
Low rate
There is no individuality
Questions ancient
No words claimed
Perform motions borrowed
Thoughts following
Ima tima ima tima intima
Dation
Respected
Head-he-go-round-men
Gesture display
Customer
Limits appeal
Media dictates the latest
Role
Totalitarian
Motions borrowed
Selling vantage points
Low rate
For you
Media begged
Suffered
Numbers
Pain

Repetition

You get up in the morning
And every single day
Is just a repetition
Its always been that way
You live alone inside your head
Incommunicado, in the land of living dead
Each days a repetition
Of the one that went before
Like watching an old movie
You cant sit through anymore
Why dont you kick the habit
And walk right out that door?
From all the repetition
Day after day
All the repetition
Its always been that way
Its in your head, its in your eyes
Youre boring and its no surprise
With all the repetition
Day after day
All the repetition
They say its time to start all over
And call it a day
But you go right back where you started
Day after day
You go right back to where you started
Day after day, after day, after day, after day
You look in the mirror
Is anybody there?
Its only a reflection
That doesnt really care
Youre a product of your time
Looking hard for something, but you never saw the sign
Lock inside a prison
But thats where you wanna be
Stuck in solitary
And youve thrown away the key
You say you want your freedom
But you dont wanna get away
Then you wake up, its time for you
To start another day
With all the repetition, day after day, all the repetition
All the repetition day after day
Another chance, another day
You know its time to get away from all the repetition
Day after day
How long you gonna sit and wait
Youre getting on its getting late
They say its time to start all over
And call it a day
But you go right back where you started
Day after day
You go right back to where you started
Day after day, after day, after day, after day

Striking Originality

In the world of sham personas, try striking originality
Archetype holds respect, not modeled duality.

Paying respect to whom you adore is good
monkey see monkey do is mental lethality.

Individual differences brand us stimulating
Ignoring them for compliance is pure irrationality.

You are harmonious in the given melody
End toeing the line, time to score individuality.

Song: On Borrowed Time

We're all living on borrowed time,
Near the brooding sea and brine.
And we grow our primate's spine,
In every clime.

Since we crawled out from 'neath the grime,
And evolved to a species – prime.
We've been living on borrowed time,
On borrowed time.

On borrowed time. We feed and dine.
On borrowed time. In swill like swine.
On borrowed time. We sup our wine.
On borrowed time. On borrowed time!

On borrowed time. In slow decline.
On borrowed time. No season shines.
On borrowed time. No reason rhymes.
On borrowed time. On borrowed time!

We're all living on borrowed time,
Acting out our roles in mime,
As if you cannot tell that I'm confused.
We're all living on borrowed time,
And we're captured hook and line.
Enraptured lives entwine as minds unloose.

On borrowed time, by frantic chime,
Of doomsday clocks and scam sub-prime.
On borrowed time, we count the dime.
On borrowed time. On borrowed time!

From that day of Eve's droll crime,
When dull Adam su*ked the lime,
We've been living on borrowed time,
On borrowed time.

On borrowed time. By dread defined.
On borrowed time. Knee-deep in slime.
On borrowed time. We moan and whine.
On borrowed time. On borrowed time!

On borrowed time. To heights sublime.
On borrowed time. Statistics climb.
On borrowed time. Who reads the signs?
On borrowed time. On borrowed time!

There You Are Behind To Follow

Whatever to you is said,
There you are behind to follow.
Whatever to you is read,
There you are behind to follow.

You don't even use your head.
Instead it might as well be dead.
Nothing in it is prepared.
And you show you don't care.

Whatever to you is said,
There you are behind to follow.
Whatever to you is read,
There you are behind to follow.

You don't even use your head.
Instead it might as well be dead.
Whatever to you is said,
You show you don't really care.

You don't even use your head.
But there you are behind to follow.
The use of it is dead instead.
Because what's in it has been borrowed.

You don't even use your head.
Because what's in it has been borrowed.
The use to you is dead instead.
Since all you do is really follow.
All you do is really follow.
All you do is really follow.
All you do is really follow.

Whatever to you is said,
There you are behind to follow.
Whatever to you is read,
There you are behind to follow.
Whatever to you is said,
There you are behind to follow.

All you do is really follow.
There you are behind to follow.
All you do is really follow.
On time you think can be borrowed.
To follow.
On time you think can be borrowed.
To follow.

On time you think can be borrowed,
There for you to follow...
All that has been done!
There for you to follow...
All that has been done!

Oh, you!

your my Inspiration,

your my revelation,
Because of you i write,
with your hope i might,
with you i shall
not fall,
Your way to encourage me,
is just too much,
you only,
shall be the flow of my blood,
With you i would wear a hood,
without you i can't live,
with you i could be diff,
you are my indeed,
when i am in need,
i see you,

standing, waiting for my smile to shine,
while your shining diamond dazzle my world,
i smile,
you smile back,
you say i am Confident,
while you make me,
your my inspiration,
your my revelation,
your my source,
thank you my friend! !

Mind Searching

I was drifting through the chambers
of imagination, deep in my mind,
searching desperately for inspiration,
but it was proving so hard to find.

Visions of nonsense appeared,
as a smoke screen in my head.
It seemed the brain was delaying
creative ideas from being read.

Imbalances of clouded colour
flooded the chambers of my mind.
One by one, thoughts became stifled,
visualization I couldn’t find.

For some strange unknown reason
there was disagreement in my head.
Mind and brain were in turmoil
until the problem was sorted.

Attempts by the brain to cloud my mind
this time thankfully failed.
Inspiration is now clearly flowing,
but next time, which will prevail.

This Morning I Rebel Against Myself

THIS MORNING I REBEL AGAINST MYSELF

This morning I rebel against myself
Without enthusiasm I approach the page
I do not know where I should go right now
Empty as I am I am afraid.

Yet hearing echoes of a greater voice
And knowing Inspiration real through you
I laugh and wonder if your Greatness makes
A mockery of all I’ll ever do.

Dear Shakespeare in whose most casual lines
Poetry beyond all I strive to seem
I hear you through my minor reverie
Undermine the rhythm of my dream.

So in poor imitation I now write
Lines that won’t survive this angry night.

No Originality Or Freshness In It

So you changed some things around and called this new?
Yours?
To have others believe it too!
And you know this isn't true.
Don't you?

Have you ever gone in someone's home?
And made suggestions
As to how they can arrange their furniture
To give the interior of their home a different presence?
It is still their furniture!
They recognize it.
You recognize it.
It belongs to them.
No matter how it has been arranged.

Same thing with stolen concepts.
Or a poet 'borrowing' ideas.
No matter how it has been arranged,
The creating brain knows from where it came.

There is no such thing as 'borrowing' someone else's ideas.
To make them new.

Plagiarists make attempts at this.
And some are so ignorant...
They lift whole passages as if they can not be recognized.
That's how empty their minds and lives are!

AND then there are those who will boldly ASK...
If it is okay to put their name on 'your' efforts!
And then to others brag of their tasks.

But not for too long can they do this.
Repetition bores,
Even those who do not recognize what is presented...
Has no originality or freshness in it to begin with!
