I know that
I know that
You love me
Caught you let
Me call you nigger
I know that you
Love me caught you
Let me call you nigger
Niggerly I go my way
With the murder I say
Yes niggerly I go my way
With the murder I make
I never understood
Why the revolution
Will not be televised
Brother Jill Scott Heron teaching by
The tongue from
His birth in my
Young ears I here
The cause of the final
Call it been along
Time since I
Saw a revolutionary
Brother 1967
Last I stood beside
One on the bus smoking
A cigarette he in black
Leather jacket and black
Beret do you see that
He looed like Percy Green
Now a-days.

Cuz I'm Black? ? ?
Is it cuz I'm black that you think I'm poor
Is it cuz I'm black that we can't afford
A car, a house, and have a liittle more
Or does stereotypes take over and racism pour
into suburb neighborhoods that are scared of 'us'
Black people that is, where crime is a must
Nigger! Nigger! The #1 word
for white upper class to use as a term
To make us feel low and non educated
To make us feel weak, it so complicated
Nigger this, nigger that, the word is overrated
It was used in Africa, which equal segregation.
Separated us from the whites and so much to tell
That 75% of us is locked in jails
for doing pity stuff that will take our trails
of life we can have to just do right
Go to school Graduate, and get paid right.
Its not cuz I'm black, It's called nigger mentality
That causes us black people to fail so drastically.
Don't get me wrong black is beautiful
We need to work together. Come on....honestly.

Call On Me
Caught in the crossbow of ideas and journeys
sit here reliving the other self's mournings
Caught in the crossbow of ideas and dawnings
stand I
Oh oh oh oh
Reliving the past of the maddening impulse
violent upheaval, the pure driven instinct
The pure driven murder, the attraction of daring
stand I
Why didn't you call on me
why didn't you call on me
Why didn't you call on me
why didn't you call
[Rowena:]
A wild being from birth
my spirit spurns control
wondering the wide earth
searching for my soul
Dimly peering
I would surely find
what could there be more purely bright
in truth's day-star
Ooohhh
Why didn't you call on me
why didn't you call, call on me
Why didn't you call on me
why didn't you call
Why didn't you call on me
why didn't you call on me
Why didn't you call on me
why didn't you call

2gether
Yeah
2gether
Your boy got popped in a driveby yesterday
Hell be lucky if he makes it through the night is what the doctors say
U can take revenge or u can be the one 2 break the chain
U look up in the sky 4 an answer and it starts 2 rain
Chorus:
What are we (what are we) if were not 2gether? (if were not 2gether)
How do we (how do we) make a life thats better? (yeah)
Cuz when we (cuz when we) be killin one another (take each other out)
How do we (huh, how) call each other brother? (mmm, check it)
U tell me
Whats the chance of a brother gettin off the block?
Whats the chance, not a damn if all he wanna do is sell chicken wings and the rock
(chicken wing and the rock)
U can blame the system, u can be the one 2 even the score, huh
Yeah, huh, u look up in the sky 4 an answer and it starts 2 pour
Drop it, huh
What are we (what are we) if were not 2gether? (if were not 2gether)
How do we (how do we) make a life thats better? (yeah)
Cuz when we (cuz when we) be killin one another (take each other out)
How do we (huh, how) call each other brother?
U tell me (tellem)
Why is slangin them thangs, coppin a stroll, flashin a sign
Key topics on a young black mind?
Cuz its the picture that we giveem and they illustrate
Black on black genocide has started 2 escalate
Every brother aint a brother cuz o color, this is true
But I can still say 2 my brother much love boo
Please lord, give me the strength and make it quick
Cuz my people wont take another nightstick, huh
What are we (what are we) if were not 2gether? (if were not 2gether)
How do we (and how do we) make a life thats better? (yeah)
Cuz when we (cuz when we) be killin one another (take each other out)
How do we (how do we) (I dont know) call each other brother?
U tell me
What are we if were not 2gether? (the new power generation)
How do we make a life thats better? (straight up 4 93)
Cuz when we (come on) (killin one another) be killin one another
(come on, come on)
(how do we) how do we call each other brother?
U tell me (yeah)
Yo, its simple
From the old 2 the young
2 uplift we must give the gift
Gift of knowledge, that is
Teach our young
That all in life aint fun
And 2 make a life thats better
My people must stick 2gether
The choice is yours
Chorus
What are we (what are we) if were not 2gether? (if were not 2gether)
How do we (how do we) make a life thats better? (2gether)
Cuz when we (cuz when we) be killin one another (be killin one another)
How do we (how do we) call each other brother?

Battleground
Black nigger white nigger standing in the dark
Listen to the rhythm of the bass boom
Black nigger takes a hit sending up a spark
In the dark heat
Swaying a little to the bass beat
White nigger takes a hit takes money out
Says this is what its all about
Rots your brain - who cares
Black nigger stares
White nigger sighs
I like your music
I like your style
I crack a joke so why dont you smile
White nigger dancing out on the floor tonight
The bands not good but the beat seems right
The bands all black and the floors all white
Clenching fists unite and fight
Rock agianst racism rules tonight
But in the real world
No-one rules
But fists are clenched all right
Down in the underground
Out in the playground
The common ground
Is a battleground
Now you dont have to be black to be a nigger no more
The writings on the wall
Say - black is power
White is flower
Diveded we fall
And behind the wall
Behind the door,
In the dark heat
In the rhythm of the bass beat
Something is wrong
And no-one is taking the blame

Slit and

Penetrate in phallic push
To perforate the pulse of tissues in the flesh
Slice a vein to drain the unsuspecting victim
E’er they bleed and plea
Their scream
Of death

I am pleased not to call you brother
I am fortunately unfortunate
Not to call you brother
For a brother is never
Envious of his brother
He never prays doom to his brother
He never stabs on his back
He never plans against him
He never lose his faith in him
And you did everything with me
Which a brother cannot do with his brother
So I am pleased
not to call you brother.

Some people call it a confession

Blues
Those five or six young guys
lunched on the stoop
that oven-hot summer night
whistled me over. Nice
and friendly. So, I stop.
MacDougal or Christopher
Street in chains of light.
A summer festival. Or some
saint's. I wasn't too far from
home, but not too bright
for a nigger, and not too dark.
I figured we were all
one, wop, nigger, jew,
besides, this wasn't Central Park.
I'm coming on too strong? You figure
right! They beat this yellow nigger
black and blue.
Yeah. During all this, scared
on case one used a knife,
I hung my olive-green, just-bought
sports coat on a fire plug.
I did nothing. They fought
each other, really. Life
gives them a few kcks,
that's all. The spades, the spicks.
My face smashed in, my bloddy mug
pouring, my olive-branch jacket saved
from cuts and tears,
I crawled four flights upstairs.
Sprawled in the gutter, I
remember a few watchers waved
loudly, and one kid's mother shouting
like 'Jackie' or 'Terry,'
'now that's enough!'
It's nothing really.
They don't get enough love.
You know they wouldn't kill
you. Just playing rough,
like young Americans will.
Still it taught me somthing
about love. If it's so tough,
forget it.

Nigger, Nigger, Nigger...NIGGUHS
No one bans
Ignorance
Disrespect
Racism and affects,
Of bigotry!
Corporate greed, lies and hypocrisy.
Or crime
Blatant thief
High taxes
Technology that creates suffering.
Degreed fools
The lost of jobs diminishing lifestyles.
Conflicts
Wars
Homelessness to aid those poor.
And there's an uproar,
Over the use of the word NIGGER?
I could care less what you call me!
I've got my pride and dignity intact!
And if it wasn't for 'niggers' being used...
There would be far less greatness
Others abuse and believe
They are better than concepts conceived!
On the backs of 'niggers'
Has enabled many to breathe...
In a false superiority that strengthens
Their self righteousness!
Calling me a 'nigger' doesn't eliminate hatred!
It just exposes the evidence,
Of a lack of self worth!
'Nigger, nigger, nigger! '
NIGGUHS
Everywhere!
Providing psychological comfort!

Getting Away With Murder
She thought she had the only key
She thought you only opened up to her, well you see
I dont know why you call it love
She thought she was the brightest light
But someone else was lighting up your life, what I think
I dont know why you call it love
Im not suspicious, no not me, but Im not blind
And Id have to be not to see
Chorus:
Gettin away with murder, you can love a girl and hurt her
Thats gettin away with, gettin away with murder
You can tell a girl you love her, while youre working on another
Thats gettin away with, gettin away with murder
You have had to love and run
Two in the hand has left you holding none, and I dont
I dont know how you call it love, no, no
Youre not demanding, no not you, youre understanding
You do what you wanna do
(chorus)
You said she was the only one, but you were cheating all along
There ought to be a law for what youve done
I got to save you from yourself, I got to stop you from hurtin someone else
(chorus repeats out)

Premeditation
Oh blade you'll warm tonight!
Awash in crimson-purple flows,
Your sheen will dull with aching flesh:
Palpating anatomic mounds
Caressing, dancing, writhing round
Your metal form-
Whetted ‘gainst a lonely bone,
Then to probe the pounding, begging heart.
And all the while the prey will howl
Before they crumple; greet the mud-
A taut and unbelieving jowl
Will open out for giving blood-
A vent from down below,
Once a brutal show
Of metal in the man.

Head The Call
Have you been listening, (Listen to the music)
Have you been sleeping (The sermon's in the music)
(The man standing next to you, he must surely be your brother)
(So brother please) heed the call
(The piper he's still piping)
The magic in the music
(The drummer he's still drumming)
The message in the music
(Sweet song of loving you should be singing)
(So brother please) heed the call
Listen to the music, Listen to the music
(Listen to the music) heed the call
(Listen to the music) heed the call
Heed the call of the music
Heed the call of the music
Heed the call of the music
Heed the call of the music
(It's still early in our morning)
There's still time for singing
Let's not waste our morning
Join in the singing
The outlaw of the midnight
He all too soon comes winging
(So brother please, please) heed the call
(Listen to the music) (Listen to the music) yeah
(Listen to the music) (Listen to the music) oh oh
(Listen to the music) oh oh oh (Listen to the music)
(Listen to the music)

Lets Just Call It Love
Lets just do it...
Lets just call it love
Is it any wonder I feel beautiful tonight
cause the spell Im under makes the stars shine oh so bright
Is it affection cause I think I like it
Whatever youre doing to me theres no way to describe it
So
Chorus:
Lets just call it love
You call it what you want call it emotion
Lets just call it love
You can call it a feeling call it a notion
Lets just call it love
You can say that its right you can say that its wrong
But baby its just too damn good
Lets just call it love
Lets just call it love
Im caught up in the moment I could be anywhere at all
Aint nothin that can bring me down no cause baby I feel ten feet tall
Is it obsession cause though I like it
Its really taken a hold of me now and I dont want to fight it
No no so
(chorus)
You can call it anything anything at all
We can take it anywhere anywhere we want to
cause you and me baby its what we need
So lets see that sun weve got all night long
Lets go on and on (x 4)
(chorus x 2 and fade)

Do You Still Call Me Brother? ?
Brother, so you call me
when your hands are red with blood
whiskers resembles those of vampires, ,
in the dark silent of the night
portraying me like a devil on the cross
am i still your brother?
when without without change in temperature and without any love lost
you ran away from me
..telling your fellow conspirators how i am bad
or is it a better deal you have found
and brother you still call me
when you have led me to believe
that the exposure of your ugly fangs
is a smile, , to be with me
when you have wanted to swallow me alive
brother, ,
is my success you cant stand?
or is it a question for the Lord
why it has not been you
when my star is shining?
..and you still call me call me brother
perfect i know i am not
and nobody is perfect didn't they say that?
i have my human flaws
but should the whole be informed?
courtesy of your generosity
in information about me
and you still part my shoulder
..brother you call me
when my nudity you have exposed?
my GOD is not a human being
to be influenced by the conspiracies theories about me
my blessings shall continue to roar
from all directions of the wind
my calabash shall be filled
and i will soon kiss the clouds
unlike you my brother I
will hold your hand until fate smiles at you
will cover your nakedness until the end of time
will wipe the sweat dripping from your rigid face
..my smile will come from the heart
and i will rejoice in your every success
until the end of time
so it shall remain......
brothers.....

All My Brothers
I walk with my brother the Christian,
But I do not believe as he, I am not his Christian brother.
I walk with my brother the Jew,
Not born to his name, I am not his brother.
I walk with my brother the Muslim,
Infidel to him, he does not call me his brother.
They know only their god, not one that I can know.
I walk with my brother the Hindu.
We are love and all are one.
I walk with my brother the Buddhist
He has known me in our past family
I walk with my brother the Taoist
We are on this path but for a moment.
They know god and I am he.
I walk with my brother the Shaman,
He sees the animal spirit within me.
I walk with my brother the Pagan,
He knows only the nature from which we come.
I walk with my brother the Tribesman,
He finds my place with his people.
They know of god in everything.
I walk with my brother the deer
He watches me with curiosity
I walk with my brother the crane,
He wonders if I can catch him.
I walk with my brother the serpent,
He sees me as warmth.
They know nothing of God.

The revolution ode to gil scott heron
Edit
the revolution ode
by Daniel Hooks on Tuesday, May 17,2011 at 9: 29pm
the revolution will not be televised
it will be ionised into fusion
it will not be like hitler's final solution
it will not be black or white
yellow or grey
it won't be about being a hippy
or being straight or gay
the revoultion will be about acceptance
that we are all differnet but the same
playing this life game
the best way we know how
we pay homage
to god or the universe we all know
mother earth and brother sun
we were all born to be as one

Give Me A Call
Ooh you draw such pictures in my head
Ooh with so few words I know what you said
Until the time comes
To carry the one
Make that dream real
And be sure it stays done
So let that thought
Bloom in your mind
A vision thats caught
Never left behind
You should just give me a call
You should just give me a call
I think about you much more than I should
Now theres a structure nothing had once stood
No more bluffing its cards on the table time
What it must be we will take it as a sign
So just give me a call
So just give me a call
Sunset and my love left me
winter and Im so far
In darkness will it lead me
where the meanings are
I miss and think of you often
no flowers I forgot them
the weathers the same
nothing happens
no loves a hard lesson
patience and years will refashion
what hours will undo
and circles not yet quite circles
somehow close true
I keep on hearing the things that you said
I keep on feeling you go straight to my head
No more bluffing its cards on the table time
What it must be we will take it as a sign
So just give me a call
So just give me a call
I call you up but you wont talk to me
No space for words theres just no room
I drift away but you pull me in
Im the ocean youre the moon
Ooh how do I know if its just me
Sometimes I think that it must be
You gotta know you can trust me
I think about you much more than I should
Now theres a structure nothing had once stood
No more bluffing its cards on the table time
What it must be we will take it as a sign
So just give me a call
So just give me a call
So just give me a call
So just give me a call

Dire Wolf
In the timbers to fennario, the wolves are running round,
The winter was so hard and cold, froze ten feet neath the ground.
Dont murder me, I beg of you, dont murder me. please, dont murder me.
I sat down to my supper, twas a bottle of red whisky,
I said my prayers and went to bed, thats the last they saw of me.
Dont murder me, I beg of you, dont murder me. please, dont murder me.
When I awoke, the dire wolf, six hundred pounds of sin,
Was grinning at my window, all I said was come on in.
Dont murder me, I beg of you, dont murder me. please, dont murder me.
The wolf came in, I got my cards, we sat down for a game.
I cut my deck to the queen of spades, but the cards were all the same.
Dont murder me, I beg of you, dont murder me. please, dont murder me.
In the backwash of fennario, the black and bloody mire,
The dire wolf collects his dues, while the boys sing round the fire.
Dont murder me, I beg of you, dont murder me. please, dont murder me.
No, no, no dont murder me. I beg of you,
Dont murder me. please, dont murder me.

Lonely brothers
Across the lake I stare
Across through the morning fog
I hear the lonely call of my brother
His black white body
breaches the surface of the calm lake
His red eyes meet the green of mine
The call of our loneliness ring out across the water
To be swallowed by the fog
As my lonely brother dives ounce again
Never again to rise
Across the lake I stare
Across through the morning fog
Now I am truly alone.

Entertainment
Theres been another assassination
T.v. cameras moving in.
To shoot the bloodstains on the pavement
And get them on the news at ten.
Will he live or will he die, before we go on the air?
Yes, the networks are all there, in the name of
Entertainment.
Superstar psycho, from a killer to a hero,
An overnight sensation on the lips of all the nation
Is he mad or is he sane? it makes for good conversation
I call it suffering and pain, but they call it entertainment
Sex violence murder and rape. (entertainment entertainment)
Thats what you came for, thats what you pay for.
Entertainment, entertainment.
They call it entertainment
Inform us, educate us with your media machine
(call it entertainment)
Tell me what to dream
(call it entertainment)
You pay your money, what do you get?
Entertainment.
Real life for entertainment,
Cheapens my reality,
So that hollywood can make it into another b movie
The vultures get the rating and the people get the thrills
But the victims always pay, I guess they always will.
Sex violence murder and rape (entertainment entertainment)
Thats what you want, thats what they need,
Thats what you came for, thats what your paying for.
They call it entertainment (call it entertainment)
Inform us, educate us with your media machine,
(call it entertainment)
Tell me what to dream
(call it entertainment)
You pay your money, what do you get?
Entertainment, entertainment.
