Cuz I'm Black? ? ?

Is it cuz I'm black that you think I'm poor
Is it cuz I'm black that we can't afford
A car, a house, and have a liittle more
Or does stereotypes take over and racism pour
into suburb neighborhoods that are scared of 'us'
Black people that is, where crime is a must
Nigger! Nigger! The #1 word
for white upper class to use as a term
To make us feel low and non educated
To make us feel weak, it so complicated
Nigger this, nigger that, the word is overrated
It was used in Africa, which equal segregation.
Separated us from the whites and so much to tell
That 75% of us is locked in jails
for doing pity stuff that will take our trails
of life we can have to just do right
Go to school Graduate, and get paid right.
Its not cuz I'm black, It's called nigger mentality
That causes us black people to fail so drastically.
Don't get me wrong black is beautiful
We need to work together. Come on....honestly.

Battleground

Black nigger white nigger standing in the dark
Listen to the rhythm of the bass boom
Black nigger takes a hit sending up a spark
In the dark heat
Swaying a little to the bass beat
White nigger takes a hit takes money out
Says this is what its all about
Rots your brain - who cares
Black nigger stares
White nigger sighs
I like your music
I like your style
I crack a joke so why dont you smile
White nigger dancing out on the floor tonight
The bands not good but the beat seems right
The bands all black and the floors all white
Clenching fists unite and fight
Rock agianst racism rules tonight
But in the real world
No-one rules
But fists are clenched all right
Down in the underground
Out in the playground
The common ground
Is a battleground
Now you dont have to be black to be a nigger no more
The writings on the wall
Say - black is power
White is flower
Diveded we fall
And behind the wall
Behind the door,
In the dark heat
In the rhythm of the bass beat
Something is wrong
And no-one is taking the blame

Nigger, Nigger, Nigger...NIGGUHS

No one bans
Ignorance
Disrespect
Racism and affects,
Of bigotry!
Corporate greed, lies and hypocrisy.
Or crime
Blatant thief
High taxes
Technology that creates suffering.
Degreed fools
The lost of jobs diminishing lifestyles.
Conflicts
Wars
Homelessness to aid those poor.
And there's an uproar,
Over the use of the word NIGGER?
I could care less what you call me!
I've got my pride and dignity intact!
And if it wasn't for 'niggers' being used...
There would be far less greatness
Others abuse and believe
They are better than concepts conceived!
On the backs of 'niggers'
Has enabled many to breathe...
In a false superiority that strengthens
Their self righteousness!
Calling me a 'nigger' doesn't eliminate hatred!
It just exposes the evidence,
Of a lack of self worth!
'Nigger, nigger, nigger! '
NIGGUHS
Everywhere!
Providing psychological comfort!

Prejudiced? Who? Me? ? .....[Personal; Human Nature; Racial Prejudice]

I'm a white guy, aged 64, raised in a small town way up north.
Do some thoughts I have about blacks signal prejudice coming forth?
First I'd say NO, but then again I'd say YES.
But such thoughts, by both whites and blacks, are normal I would guess.

What thoughts am I now referring to you will probably ask.
To answer that sensible question will put my mind to task.
My interactions with blacks, I think, no prejudice does reveal.
And the rare times I have 'prejudice' thoughts, I think they're no big deal.

Do you wish to know of what my 'pre-judged' thoughts consist?
I'd almost rather not tell you. But, if you insist.
I sometimes think 'nigger'; when and where I grew up that was a 'bad' name.
I also think of them as different though people are the 'same'.

And here is where I say 'I don't like generalization'.
By 'same' I mean neither all blacks nor all whites are 'the same' in this nation.
So whites and blacks can both be smart or stupid, mean or kind;
within each 'race' criminals and 'saints' you'll find.

I wasn't raised to either love or hate blacks. My parents seemed not to judge.
And I've changed my mind again; I'm NOT prejudiced. From that opinion I shall not budge!

Then why you ask do I sometimes think 'nigger' when I think of a black?
I think it's due to both a primeval urge to break society's rules, and to thought-control I lack.
Luckily I don't act out my 'bad' thoughts. I might be in jail now if I had.
When in grade school, a boy said I called him 'nigger'. The accusation made me sad.

I know that

I know that
You love me
Caught you let
Me call you nigger
I know that you
Love me caught you
Let me call you nigger
Niggerly I go my way
With the murder I say
Yes niggerly I go my way
With the murder I make
I never understood
Why the revolution
Will not be televised
Brother Jill Scott Heron teaching by
The tongue from
His birth in my
Young ears I here
The cause of the final
Call it been along
Time since I
Saw a revolutionary
Brother 1967
Last I stood beside
One on the bus smoking
A cigarette he in black
Leather jacket and black
Beret do you see that
He looed like Percy Green
Now a-days.

Bab (because Am Black)

Hatred is a tree
whose fruits;
segregation & racism like
canker worm has rotten
the human society.

being black in some
quarters is equated to
failure,

In America
its Nigger Boy or John
a Russian calls you
orange and Banana peels;
whatever that means
Italian don't believe a
black man is better than
a monkey.

And so my mental sky
was clouded so early
in life by negativities.
At age thirty a black man
Is still been addressed
As "Boy".

At school
I was taught to be
an inhabitant of the
third world.
Hence am third class
in God's earth.

They theme my way of
life fetish;
when am not watchful,
they stole the gods of my
fathers.

I'm being called Barbaric;
But Lord knows
my black mind never initiated
slave trade.

Beneath the watchful
eyes of the sun
my sisters were dishonoured.
What become of my father
My mother knew not till date

Nor could I say
of the fate that befall
my brother
cause his carcass
were seen hung on a
tree in a forest covered
by fogs.

I was not spared;
they stripe me of my goal;
like a candy,
chaos & gaol were put in-between.

And today they say
the blackman is always
at war.
But how, why, and
who taught us the act
are the bugging questions
on my lips.

In my heart
am humane than all
white clergies:
but I'm the one that is
been called Cannibal
because am black.

Black N White (Cloak N Dagger Poem)

I've always been a man who treasures black and white.
One either is still breating or one must be dead,
all cats are gray due to the colour of the darkest night
so black and white is king and that is what I said.

Be flexible said he whose bow was made of pine,
there came a point when nothing could extend it more,
the splinter took his eye, he fell into the vat of wine
his ship was lost at sea and never did return to shore.

A friend named Malcolm Williams, Nigger though to me
was quite ashamed of being black, me being white,
went through Chicago after curfew, it was hard to see
I figured it could be an asset to be dark without the light.

Blues

Those five or six young guys
lunched on the stoop
that oven-hot summer night
whistled me over. Nice
and friendly. So, I stop.
MacDougal or Christopher
Street in chains of light.

A summer festival. Or some
saint's. I wasn't too far from
home, but not too bright
for a nigger, and not too dark.
I figured we were all
one, wop, nigger, jew,
besides, this wasn't Central Park.
I'm coming on too strong? You figure
right! They beat this yellow nigger
black and blue.

Yeah. During all this, scared
on case one used a knife,
I hung my olive-green, just-bought
sports coat on a fire plug.
I did nothing. They fought
each other, really. Life
gives them a few kcks,
that's all. The spades, the spicks.

My face smashed in, my bloddy mug
pouring, my olive-branch jacket saved
from cuts and tears,
I crawled four flights upstairs.
Sprawled in the gutter, I
remember a few watchers waved
loudly, and one kid's mother shouting
like 'Jackie' or 'Terry,'
'now that's enough!'
It's nothing really.
They don't get enough love.

You know they wouldn't kill
you. Just playing rough,
like young Americans will.
Still it taught me somthing
about love. If it's so tough,
forget it.

Two Different People

Two different people
Black people, white people
Black world, White world
A black person thinks different from the white people
White people thinks highly of himself
White people works very hard for his living
Black's are lazy
They don't want to work, they just want the money
You have to work for the money, they just don't get it
White people knows that there are no free ride in life
Black's want a free ride, there are no free ride in life
Nothing is free in life except for the air that you breathe
The white people have to be careful of what they say to the black People
Whatever you say to the black people if they don't like it they will say it Is discrimination
We can't understand them
They have a mind of their own
The white people are loving and caring
What about the black people?
Not a hope in hell
I don't want any part of the black world
The black world is not safe for me
So I rather stay in my white world where I feel safe
We can't trust them
The reason why there is violence in this world is because the black People cause it
Now they don't like it because they have to live with it
We want a safe world for our people
The black people don't care about it because the only thing they know And seen is violence
There is too much violence on TV
They like it
They like the feeling of danger
We white don't like the feeling of danger
The blacks hate the white people and the white people don't like them Either
The white people knows when to shut up
The black people never knows when to shut up
There is why there are always problem with them
They make life miserable for us
The white people will always be a good friend
The black people can never be your friend
They will take everything they can get from you for free

Woman Is The Nigger Of The World

Woman is the nigger of the world
Yes she is...think about it
Woman is the nigger of the world
Think about it...do something about it
We make her paint her face and dance
If she wont be a slave, we say that she dont love us
If shes real, we say shes trying to be a man
While putting her down, we pretend that shes above us
Woman is the nigger of the world...yes she is
If you dont believe me, take a look at the one youre with
Woman is the slave of the slaves
Ah, yeah...better scream about it
We make her bear and raise our children
And then we leave her flat for being a fat old mother hen
We tell her home is the only place she should be
Then we complain that shes too unworldly to be our friend
Woman is the nigger of the world...yes she is
If you dont believe me, take a look at the one youre with
Woman is the slave to the slaves
Yeah...alright...hit it!
We insult her every day on tv
And wonder why she has no guts or confidence
When shes young we kill her will to be free
While telling her not to be so smart we put her down for being so dumb
Woman is the nigger of the world
Yes she is...if you dont believe me, take a look at the one youre with
Woman is the slave to the slaves
Yes she is...if you believe me, you better scream about it

Beauty, inside and out

I am black
I am beautiful
inside and out

I am black
I am beautiful
my voice is medium toned, I try not to shout

I am black
I am beautiful
I don't let anyone put me down

I am black
I am beautiful
Though sometimes I may act as a clown

I am black
I am beautiful
I'm filled with such pride

I am black
I am beautiful
I'll make such a wonderful bride

Black and Beauty
that describes the outside of me

Nice or mean, you have to decide
To me and most people I am nice inside

I am beautiful, I am black
I am black, I am beautiful

Something to worry about

Round of applause
Baby make that ass clap
-CLAP, CLAP-
Now that I've grasped your attention
Let me explain to you why
What you just did was stupid
All the females that clapped
Understand you're merely fueling society's belief
On the only thing a black girl is good for
Fellas, we're worse
Because we get all excited
When a girl actually do it
Not realizing it's our very bone
That is degrading itself
I will say this though
We aren't to blame completely.
Some of it is because of parents
Some of it is because of teachers
But an overwhelming majority is because
Of OUR shared mentality
Because we allow ourselves to believe
That when we fight we always win
When that's merely the so called supremacy
Toying with us once again
Prime example: Nov.4,2008
HOORAY WE HAVE A BLACK PRESIDENT
So, most of his house and senate is republican and white
Presidents don't run countries by themselves
Stop blaming him because it appears nothings happened
You have to understand he's fighting
All those snobby, white bastards
That don't want a nigger
In "their" house
But I digress and move on to brass tax
People the supposed supremacy
Embedded in we
Our expected life plans
The day the pregnancy test says "yes"
You'll grow up
Learn what they want you to learn
Go to high school
And begin the downward spiral
Because, since your black, you'll do drugs
To handle the stress of being a teen
And you'll rob a store
Because you got the munchies
Now both you and your girl
Got rep sheets because neither of you knew
About the camera in the back corner
You go to jail
Best case scenario you have a misdemeanor
So they let you go
Now What?
No school wants a criminal inside, it's a safety hazard
No job is going to logically hire thieves
So what do you two do
When your backs at the corner
You start dealing
And get arrested again
Now you're facing 20 for possession and intent
Because you're black

-OR-

You make it through high school
Go to college
Actually graduate
You know if you're a 12%er
But now what?
You major in Business
But you feel the mail room
Isn't worth the wasted energy
Of a graduate of such an esteemed University
So you're left for managing Mickey D's
And everyday you're dealing with Mickey fickey's
But I bet you have a white supervisor
That tells you a monkey could do your job
And you just stare or nod whatever
But the problem is we're not thinking
So many of us don't realize that phrase
Is nothing more than a smart way to say nigga
You'll get made when they say nigga
But bow your head and stay silent when they call you monkey
Everybody we are living in something
I call IRS
Inverse Red Summer
Because instead of them killing us
They give us the gun
Let us kill us
And then lock us away in detention camps
I mean prisons
So now we have 20 to life
And no hopes of probation
And if the rumors are true
No Vaseline for that midnight penetration
So either way it goes
Their plan ends with
Our Incarceration

So let's think about the now
And how it'll the affect the then
Because I know
We are tired of being
Because Being is a Verb
That is only an is
We have to be more than IS
‘Cause they love when we submit to IS
Because that means they control the rest of
Life's sentence that we must adhere to
Because we are only IS
We're not the thought
Nor are we the subject
We just Are
Which is plural for IS

Everybody changes need to occur
And they start by actually learning and understanding
The history, nature, and reason of our people
It's horrible that so many people love Rosa Parks
For what she's done
But those of us that ride the CTA
Always head to the back of the bus
So please let us progress
Instead of just having mental process
Let's actually come and STAY together
Not just be next door neighbors
Help each other to educate
Don't look at ignorance and just tolerate
Because if we don't
We are only committing suicide
And with our deaths
All they think is
"That's one less nigger I have to worry about."

I am a man of black and white

I am a man of black and white,
my name is written on the gates of the sky.
i am a man of black and white
my origin is united, yet two apart.

I speak the language of the whites,
but lost in the language of the blacks.
i am a man of black and white,
my resemblance is same with the blacks.

I am a man of black and white,
i was brought up in the land of the whites.
i am a man of black and white,
my home is in the south-east, in the abode of my black dad.

I am a man of black and white,
i love the aspirations of life.
i am a man of black and white,
although two apart, we are united as one.

A Notable Dinner

Once the nation's chief was honored by the company of one,
Who to lift a fallen people had a work of worth begun,
Lofty things had he accomplished for a race so long despised,
In a land where naught but color by the whites are ever prized.

Booker Washington, the teacher, with the president has dined,
Southern whites it gave convulsions, for to such they're not inclined,
'Tis the color, not achievements, that their fancies recognize,
Whites alone receive their plaudits, Negro worth they will not prize.

Roosevelt was censured sorely, half the country writhed and hissed,
Just because he shared his dinner with a Negro—there's the gist—
'Twas the manhood not the color that the president admired,
Souls of worth demand attention, only such his mind desired.

'Down with Washington the 'nigger' and with Roosevelt, because
He has made of him an equal—how offensive to our laws,
Worthy deeds are not for black men' is the constant cry they raise,
'All advancement of such people brings proportionate dispraise.'

Hark! the press begins to clamor, to the South it says 'beware!
Lest equality with 'niggers' in the end we'll have to share;
Anti-nigger is our platform, how to crush a 'nigger' man,
Officers must be elected as resulting from this plan.'

Washington is far above him—-any man who fails to see,
Good when found upon a Negro, from a lack of charity,
See the Southern degradation! view the monster once again,
How it measures deeds of merit by the color of the skin.

Roosevelt was very careful on the choosing of a guest,
Here is what he did for Tillman, in his zeal to have the best,
Cancelled out his invitation and his company refused,
Dined the best of peoples only—other classes he excused.

Down with prejudice and envy! should be wafted to the breeze,
For the Southern slaves of fashion need a prompt and sure release,
In the teachings of the Master while the path of earth He trod,
We've a brotherhood of races and a Fatherhood of God.

Black & Whites

So many choices in my life these days
So much confusion, so many shades of gray
That sometimes I don't know
My left from my right
But I've got these old black and whites
Well, I'm every color that you can paint
A father, a lover, a mother, a sinner and a saint
From Sunday morning, to Saturday night
I've got these old black and whites
Under the spotlight or all alone at midnight
I know I'm right where I belong
It always unwinds me, it finds me then reminds me
That life is as simple as a song
Lovers, they come and surely they go
They fly you so high, say hello, say goodbye
And they leave you low
But that's all right here in these songs that I write
Right here on these old black and whites
So roll over Beethoven
Cause ol' Phil could use some room
I may be out of time and may be out of tune
But you know how it feels to pour out your life
Right here on these old black and whites
Livin life in black and white

The School System

The school system
was not designed for us
Mexican-Americans
america is not designed for us
in school we learn
about wars, time periods this and
that
in only two colors
white and black
racism comes in many colors
its just not between white and black
its more like human to human
there is racism between every
race
and Im tired of seeing media only focus on the two
how can I be motivated as
a Mexican-American when all
I read in class is about
black and white culture and
how they clash
the school sysem was
designed by whites and blacks
and not for us...

You 'Have' To Notice It

Lets...
Discuss,
Racism.
And how it affects you daily.

'It doesn't.'

Comeon.
You have to notice it?

'I do.'

So...
You are affected.

'No.
I am not.'

Of course you are.
You are obviously black.
A black man.

'And? '

If I were black I would notice that.
Everywhere I would notice it.
Everywhere I went...
It would be on my mind.
In my consciousness.
I'd be full of resentment.
I wouldn't be able to sleep,
Knowing I stood out amongst all people.
I would feel insecure.
Emotionally tormented inside,
With wishes to be white.
I would be...

Are you done?

'Yes.
But I just wanted you to know,
How I would feel...
IF I were a black man.'

Sorry to disappoint you.
Perhaps my commitment,
To having an identity with purpose first...
Has not prioritized my being black.
As much as you have.
Are you hoping one day I will feel inferiror?

'You don't? '

By what or who?

'Those who feel they are better than you.'

I don't fantasize.
But I realize there are many who do.
And I notice them everywhere I go.
You have to notice it too?

'I don't.'
