Ballad Of Ole Betsy
Betsy, betsy, ahhhhh
She was born in 32, and was she ever pretty
She rode a freight train west, all the way from detroit city
Betsys seen more places than Ill ever hope to see
Betsys been more loyal than any friend could be
With some she traveled fast, with others it was slow
Betsys seen them all, shed seen them come and go
She must have had some others before I finally met her
And now that shes all mine, theyd better just forget her
Betsy was a lady and that she will remain
Betsy took some beatings but she never once complained
She had a classic beauty that everyone could see
I was the last to meet her, but she gave her life to me
She may be rusted iron, but to me shes solid gold
And I just cant hold the tears back
cause betsys growing old

I'm Sick Of You
I'm sick of you ( Pop / Williamson )
Goodbye Betsy im goin' away
I'm sick of you and there aint no way
Dont want to know, dont want to see
Dont you ever bother me
Sick of hanging around your pad
Sick of your Mom and sick of your Dad
Yeah and Betsy,
its sad but true,
now im even sick of you.
No way, no way, no way
No way, no way, no way
No way, for our love
No way for our love
Cuz im sick of You.
Good bye Betsy im going away.
Sick of you and i dont wanna stay
Dont want to know, dont want to see
Dont you ever bother me
Sick of hanging around your pad
Sick of your mom and sick of your Dad
Yes and Betsy its sad but true
Now im even sick of you.
No way, no way, no way
No way, no way, no way
No way, for our love,
No way for our love
Cuz im sick of you
Every evening and every day,
Seem to always turn out this way,
To get an end
I better find new love,
then you'll pay,
then youll pay,
aint no way.
Cuz im sick of you.
Goodbye Betsy im going away,
Sick of you and i dont wanna stay
Dont want to know , dont want to see
dont you ever, bother me ....

The Ballad Of Betsy
Betsy now pulls the cart towards sweet home that day
Her size makes pulling baby carts as mere child's play
She's huge, a Labrador, obtained from Russian friend
Trained by cop, we'll call Tim - that isn't his real name
Tim can slug between the eyes crooks across the street
His temper's short, but long the distance he'd shoot straight
His baby, Betsy pulls in cart as they would stroll
Today could be the day, she waits maternal call
So many pats, did Tim bestow on Betsy's head
As due reward for deeds of bravery she'd made
To Betsy it's worth all to life and what it brought
And with her newborn pups, she's bound for added worth
One fateful day, as Tim was out, the stork came in,
And for Betsy it looks like Fate did show her grin,
But as her seventh pup was out, a wolf came by
It bit the baby that so loud it now did cry
Still in maternity, she sprang to guard duty
To give battle, protect her tuft, succeed ably
She'd killed the wolf, at last, but not without its price
Bloodied and stained, she hardly moves from where she lies
But worse is for the fox that now nary is seen,
Concealed in undergrowth from where it once had been
The stench of death will fill the air in future days
Or else its rotted corpse thereat forever stays
As Tim arrives, she thought a pat would ease her pain
She whined a bit to point out to where she'd lain
Tim saw the baby bleeding red from dangling arm
And felt the matching blood on Betsy's face still warm
To Tim this meant a smoking gun that he has found
As victim and the culprit were all still around
Ten years of Police work taught him to act now fast
He struck at Betsy who just stared feeling aghast
The pat that Betsy yearned now came, but seemed too hard
It split her skull and felt as though there flew a shard
Her pups, too, Tim held nothing back, he game them all
She watched with mournful eyes as last of them did fall
She stared at Tim with eyes where now fresh blood had sprung
As if to say, "If you'd kill me, please spare my young, "
"I've only done the best I can, if not enough,
Then punish me, but please, let live a single pup."
Times that Tim's been judge, jury, executioner
Verdict's been slug between the eyes of whomever
A welcome thought for Betsy to befall that fate
When life has got more stings than even Death itself
Betsy now moves hardly from where she lies
It's been a year ago, yet Tim secretly cries
Her bones nary will know why man could make those slips
Or why often heroes would die in sinking ships.

Sea Ballad - From
“HOW many?” said our good Captain.
“Twenty sail and more.”
We were homeward bound,
Scudding in a gale with our jib towards the Nore.
Right athwart our tack,
The foe came thick and black,
Like Hell-birds and foul weather—you might count them by the score.
The Betsy Jane did slack
To see the game in view.
They knew the Union-Jack,
And the tyrant’s flag we knew!
Our Captain shouted “Clear the decks!” and the Bo’sun’s whistle blew.
Then our gallant Captain,
With his hand he seiz’d the wheel,
And pointed with his stump to the middle of the foe.
“Hurray, lads, in we go!”
(You should hear the British cheer,
Fore and aft.)
“There are twenty sail,” sang he,
“But little Betsy Jane bobs to nothing on the sea!”
(You should hear the British cheer,
Fore and aft.)
“See you ugly craft
With the pennon at her main!
Hurrah, my merry boys,
There goes the Betsy Jane!”
(You should hear the British cheer,
Fore and aft.)
The foe, he beats to quarters, and the Russian bugles sound;
And the little Betsy Jane she leaps upon the sea.
“Port and starboard!” cried our Captain;
“Pay it in, my hearts!” sang he.
“We ’re old England’s sons,
And we ’ll fight for her to-day!”
(You should hear the British cheer.
Fore and aft.)
“Fire away!”
In she runs,
And her guns
Thunder round.

I Did Not Build This House
I did not build this house alone
Upon foundations of folly
Wood floors have split and groan
Knotty planks creep
Out the front door
Beyond walls stretched
Over mossy stone
I did not build this house alone
The symbiots fed it
As they were nourished
Engorged like an unborn child
Who stretches and kicks it
Then, vacates it for a while
This house whose pathways
Were fed by blood and breath
Humming and pumping
Beating and strumming
Dancing the rhythm of life
and death.
I did not build this house
It has morphed and grown
Then alas, has shrunk again
as now I am alone.

Standing In the Clearest Rain
The clearest rain
trickles down my nose
And runs into the dry cracks
Through dripping hair
Seeps into my bones,
Reflecting lights flash ….red and white
Humming a silent incision
As they swing… white and red.
They sparkle in the droplets
winking secrets unseen
By the guilty bystanders
Who must look beyond
Their red and white and
Truncated fields of vision
While the clearest rain
And warm tunes dance
Red and white and
Swing white and red again
Whose beams bang
Out a jig on the tube
Then, leave an inky stain
On smoldering ice cubes
I stand immoble
While the clearest rain
Washes down the pain.

When Shes Gone
She has a light and a faith that wont die.
She has a heart of a lion and the will to survive.
She has a pretty young daughter back home
Wholl soon start to cry when shes gone.
When shes gone. when shes gone. when shes gone.
Now she spends her days with a mission to live.
She loves to laugh, and will offer a hand to forgive.
And she has a man with two arms open wide who will take her in when shes gone.
When shes gone. shes gone. when shes gone.
She fights through the pain and she smiles when she sleeps.
(smiles when she sleeps)
And dreams of the days when well all finally meet.
She often says that she lives in a world well never know.
We hope we never know.
We sit together and talk about our faith.
We play a game where well sing all our troubles away.
Though shes glad to be with me,
She knows darm well that her next life awaits when shes gone.
Oh, when shes gone.
When shes gone.
When shes gone, shes gone. shes gone.
Shes gone away. shes gone away.
Shes gone. shes gone. when shes gone.
Oh, no. (when shes gone)
Oh, shes gone.
I know shes gone. (when shes gone)

Dog Food
Pop
Im hanging around that same old scene
My girlfriend betsy shes just fourteen
Theres nothing better for me to do
Im living on dog food
Dog food is so good for you
It makes you strong and clever too
Dog food is a current craze
Eat some every day

The Fornicator
Ye jovial boys, who love the joys,
The blissful joys of lovers,
And dare avow wi' dauntless brow,
Whate'er the lass discovers;
I pray draw near, and you shall hear,
And welcome in a frater,
I've lately been in quarantine,
A proven fornicator.
Before the congregation wide
I pass'd the muster fairly,
My handsome Betsy by my side,
We gat our ditty rarely.
My downcast eye, by chance did spy
What made my mouth to water,
Those limbs so clean, where I between,
Commenced a fornicator.
Wi' ruefu' face, and signs o' grace,
I paid the buttock hire;
The night was dark, and thro' the park,
I couldna but convoy her.
A parting kiss, what could I less ;
My vows began to scatter,
Sweet Betsy fell, fal, lal, de ral,
And I'm a fornicator.
But by the sun and moon I swear,
And I'll fulfill ilk hair o't,
That while I own a single crown,
She's welcome to a share o't.
My roguish boy, his mother's joy,
And darling of his pater,
I for his sake, the name will take,
A hardened fornicator.

The Great Conch Train Robbery
'Twas sunset down in old Key West
The locals all were high.
The tourists snapped their photographs
And munched their Key Lime pie.
And meanwhile down at Sloppy Joe's
The drinks were standin' tall
With Buffett on the jukebox
And Hemingway on the wall.
Then up spoke Sam the Shrimper:
He said, 'I've been a shrimper all my life.
My daddy was a shrimper
And my mom's a shrimper's wife.
And I'm tired of bein' a shrimper
Cuz a shrimper's life's too tame
So I'm gonna ride the Conch Train, boys,
And be like Jesse James.
Gonna be like Jesse James, boy...
Gonna be like Jesse James.
Case you didn't hear me the first three times...
Gonna be like Jesse James.'
Now the Conch Train is a tourist toy
That rolls through Key West Town
Like some weird ride from Disneyland
It drives the tourists round and round
While the engineer on her P.A.
Points out all the sites
'Well, Tennessee did you-know-what
To you-know-who that night.'
'The tourists all have money', said Sam
'Their wives all have rings of gold.
Their mopeds all are pawnable.
Their cameras can be sold.
And think of all the glory, boys,
The money and the fame
To be the first and only man
To rob the Key West Train.'
Now the engineer of the Conch Train
Her name was Betsy Wright.
She drove the Conch Train all day long
And loved Shrimper Sam all night.
And with some sweet persuasion,
She agreed to join the game:
She'd slow it down and flag the lad
And let him ride the train.
The conch train made its turn
Down the Smathers Pitch
When Shrimper Sam with a snorkle eye
Leaped naked from the sea.
His fillet knife was in his hand.
He jumped aboard the train.
'Give up your bucks, you tourist schmucks.
I'm Key West Jesse James.
I'm Key West Jesse James, boy...
Key West Jesse James...
Case you didn't hear me the first three times...
I'm Key West Jesse James.'
Now unbeknownst to Shrimper Sam
In the third car from the rear,
Sat Kelso Bolls from Muscle Shoals,
An American Legioneer.
He was a redneck of respect
And a marksman of reknown.
From under his fat
He drew a Gat,
And shot the shrimper down.
Now the first time that he shot poor Sam,
Sam groaned and clutched his side.
The second time that he shot poor Sam,
Sam fell to his knees and cried.
And the third time that he shot poor Sam,
You could see in both their eyes
Lash LaRue and Randolph Scott
Beneath the Western skies.
We laid poor Sam upon the sand
And we lifted up his head.
We listened close to hear the words
The dying shrimper said.
He said, 'Boys, you know I had my chance
But I went and botched the job,
But how can a boy named Jesse James
Without a train to rob?'
Then Kelso Bolls took off his hat
And the tears streamed down his face.
He said, 'Son, I know just how you feel.
This world's a changin' place'.
When history is written,
Uh... they won't recall our names,
But I only got to play Pat Garrett
Cuz you played Jesse James.
We buried Sam in the southernmost sands
Close by the southernmost waves
Where sweet Betsy Wright
Cries tears every night
Onto his southernmost grave.
And on his tombstone say the words
'Stick to your own game.
And if you are a shrimper,
Do not try to rob a train.'

Lady Down On Love
Words and music by randy owen
Its her first night on the town since she was just eighteen, a lady down on
Love and out of hope and dreams.
The ties that once bound her now are broke away, and shes like a baby, just
Learning how to play.
She never thought that love could ever end so soon.
Her mind drifts back in time to a mid-summer moon when he asked her to marry
And she glady said o.k.
And a woman came to be from the girl of yesterday.
Now shes a lady down on love.
She needs somebody to gentley pick her up.
Shes got her freedom, but shed rather be bound to a man who would love her
And never let her down.
Well, I know a lady thats down on her love, cause I used to hold her and
Have that special touch.
But work took me a way from home late at nights, and I wasnt there when she
Turned out the lights.
Then both of us got lonely and I gave into lust, and she just couldnt live
With a man she couldnt trust.
Now shes a lady down on love.
She needs somebody to gently pcik her up.
Shes got her freedom, but shed rather be bound to man who would love her
And never let her down.
Now shes a lady down on love.

Born To Love Me
Bob morrison
Not manyd say shes pretty cause they dont realize
That beauty is often hidden from anothers eyes
But in a quiet moment her beauty starts to shine
And every night Im thankful that shes mine
Oh-oh that she is mine
And she was born to love me in her gentle way
Born to love me each and everyday
Born to love me born to hold me tight
Born to love me everynight, everynight
Ive learned it doesnt matter what other people see
Its what I feel for her and what she feels for me
Shes made my life worth living because she understood
That love is made for giving, shes so good
Oh-oh shes so good
And she was born to love me in her gentle way
Born to love me each and everyday
Born to love me born to hold me tight
Born to love me everynight, everynight
Yes, she was born to love me in her gentle way
Born to love me each and everyday
Born to love me born to hold me tight...
