Dear Grandma
Dear Grandma, I remember
When you were there for me
Dear Grandma, I remember
Your smile was a joy to see
Dear Grandma, I remember
The wonderful dinners I had
I remember how you cared
You dried my tears when I was sad
Dear Grandma, I remember
All the wonderful things you gave
You would let us play around
You would always be there to wave
Dear Grandma, I remember
All your loving care
Helping when I was sick
You were always there
Dear Grandma, I remember
That you are there for me yet
Always a comfort to me
Dear Grandma, I wont forget

The Broken Girl
The light is fading faster
as her life begins
to go
the darkness comes
as her life slowly
slips away
her demons have risen
they've taken control
she's not the girl
she used to be
The girl with the
smile, the
girl with the
laugh
That girl is gone
she has died off
she left this day
the day of an honest
mistake
a mistake she will
have to die for
for her grandma will
soon know
they don't see it
for they don't know
the wrath of her grandma
they think the grandma's
sweet
they say she's not that way
She says her grandma will
take
everything she holds dear
they say they don't believe it
they say that its not true
little do they know
her grandma is of a nature
where she will take all
from the girl
all because of one
mistake
the girl will loose it all
the girl you knew will
be long gone
for she must say good-bye
all to soon you will
meat the girl she
really is
for all to soon her masks
shall drop
all to soon she will
reveal all
the masks shall drop
and many will see
just how broken that girl
really is
to soon they will see
that girl is
me

Dear Old Friend
Dear old friend,
How far back does your memory span?
does it go through last year?
or before marching band?
Do you remember nail fights
do you remember seeing me cry?
do you remember not seeing me after
do you remember understanding why?
Do you remember cuddle puddles?
Do you remember the tickle war?
do you remember stealing my stuff
and then trying to get back from you on the floor?
Do you remember when you were to high to stand?
do you remember me being there until i could be sure you were okay?
do you remember competitions we went to
playing a rigged game of cards along the way?
do you remember how much fun we had?
do you remember when it ended?
when nome left and things fell apart
making us do things that offended?
I remember
I remember a time when I was at peace
I remember being happy all the time
i remember your hugs
that always felt sublime.
I remember our friendship
I remember what you said
I remember this year that
is now gone and quite dead
oh my dear old friend
what has happened in this year?
what has made things change so
that I am not considered by you a peer?
well there is little
more for me to say
now that I'm done
I'll go away
just think about
the things said here
and know at least
I still hold you dear
My dear old friend

Missing You
Hey grandma
I know your there
Sometimes I can sense you
I hope you know that I still care
And remember all the times we went through
I’ve dealt with the fact that I’ll miss you forever
Or as long as my lifetime lasts
But I know that someday we’ll meet again
And it’s a fact, time does travel fast
As it only seems like yesterday
When I’d come to your house for tea
An I remember all the Christmases we shared
Now it’ll never be the same for me
I hate the way it ended
Because I never got to say goodbye
But in a hard, weird sense it was good
Because I would have only cried
It’s fair to say
I think of you everyday
But if I think for too long, I end up in tears
You were a strong woman, with a strong character
And I want to thank you for the years
Thank you for the memories
You’ll never die in my head
I loved the way you were outspoken
And what you thought was what you said
I love you grandma, I always will
And of you, I am a big fan
I love you grandma, I always will
An I’m proud you were my gran

Bazonka
Say Bazonka every day
That's what my grandma used to say
It keeps at bay the Asian Flu'
And both your elbows free from glue.
So say Bazonka every day
(That's what my grandma used to say)
Don't say it if your socks are dry!
Or when the sun is in your eye!
Never say it in the dark
(The word you see emits a spark)
Only say it in the day
(That's what my grandma used to say)
Young Tiny Tim took her advice
He said it once, he said it twice
he said it till the day he died
And even after that he tried
To say Bazonka! every day
Just like my grandma used to say.
Now folks around declare it's true
That every night at half past two
If you'll stand upon your head
And shout Bazonka! from your bed
You'll hear the word as clear as day
Just like my grandma used to say!

Grandma’s Little Angel
Grandma’s little angel is what you will be called, sent to us from the wings of another angel, heaven has a kiss of blessing with your name all around it, a loving gift from God “Grandma little Angel.”
Grandma’s little angel is who we are waiting for; I have been blessed with a grandchild that I will love forever more.
Grandma’s little angel I will truly adore, cherish the ground she walk upon, kiss her baby feet, hold her tiny hands until she falls to sleep.
Grandma’s little angel the apple of my eyes a wonderfully feeling of joy until the day I die. Little angel kiss my heart, touched my soul I can’t wait until the day comes that I could behold “Grandma’s little angel.”
Grandma’s little angel has already embraced my soul, our eyes has not yet seen the love that will soon unfold. She is my little light the fire that burns deep from within Grandma’s little Angel a kiss from heaven sent.
Grandma’s Little Angel from blossoms flowers grows, beautifully like a red wine rose touched my heart like no one really knows.
Grandma’s little angel I did not fully understand the blessing that was sent from God’s loving hand, he opened my eyes so I can clearly see the love that he in trusted in thee.

Grandma Didn't Spend A Dime To Find Logic
Those who believe they can predict Mother Nature,
Are the same ones who perceive,
They can create the flavor and taste...
Of Grandma's award winning Sweet Potato Pie.
Only to realize,
Such predictions are a waste of time...
And money spent,
Educating themselves to 'be' Grandma.
When Grandma didn't spend a dime to find logic.
Grandma had a mind of her own.
Satisfying each and everytime AND was unpredictable!

A Dying Brain
Do you recall how I was once your fire –?
And we, a regal cloud of unity
Meandering through the closing blues of night,
Commanding stars to glitter;
Dawn to blush?
Your answer comes in ever-blanking stares:
A wall that blocks the know,
Damping down the glow that used to emanate
From clear and lucid eyes.
They've lost the will to recognise.
But hear! We are fifty years together –
And once we writhed in pleasure –
Drowning in emotion,
That which was our prime.
You don't recall.
You only lie as vegetation
Scattered on the ground:
A living mound of flesh,
Devoid of any neural mesh
To let you say 'I'm sound.'
Don't worry Dear,
For I'm aware with memory!
I'll tell you how we were.
We have our right of history!
If you could just concur.

Grandma
Knots and tangles in my hair,
grandma sitting on her chair,
me in front on a stool so low,
brushes and combs all in a row.
Grandma would wash it every day,
Saying 'We do this first, then you play.'
Waiting for the feel of every pull,
this became our ritual.
I anticipated every tug.
When we finished we would hug.
But before I'd leave she'd make a bow,
all different colors she'd use to show
that my hair was something she loved to see.
It was long and shiny black, like ebony.
I treasure her looks and the moments spent,
the combs, the brushes and her looks of content.
My grandma made me feel like a queen,
like the prettiest thing she'd ever seen.
Now as my hair is turning gray
I remember the words she used to say,
'Sit down dolly and I'll comb your hair.'

Grandma Hepner
I know this will be the last time
The last time I get to touch your face
Embrace your welcoming smile
Hold on to you
I don't want this moment to come
I don't want to have to say goodbye
Grandma I know I am selfish
But you cannot leave me
I know I have not been there for you
When you have been with me through everything
I love you Grandma
And I do not want this to be the last time I saw you
I will miss you grandma

Pickney Red
Once lived a little black gal
And in de town dem said
Dat she wore a bright red cloak
So dem call her ‘Pickney Red.'
‘To grandma yu must gwan'
Her mudder sweetly said.
‘And tek dis wicker basket
Mi dear, dear, Pickney Red.'
So off she skipped quite happily
Without nu fear nor dread
Tru' de dark, dark woods
De basket nuff, nuff spread.
But poor Red never realized
Dat way up on ahead,
Lived a nasty, dutty wolf
And him name was Mr Fred.
‘What's yu name missy? '
Asked de cunning Mr Fred.
‘Why sir, yu nu know?
Dem called mi ‘Pickney Red.'
‘And where yu di gwan
With dat basket full of bread? '
‘Mi gwan to see mi grandmudder
Who lives far, up a-head
‘Yu wi get there quick, quick, quick
If yu tek dat route instead.'
‘Oh tank yu sir, so kindly'
And off skipped ‘Pickney Red.'
De Wolf him very swift
And found grandmudder in bed
He gobbled her up in one
And put her cap pon him head.
Red bang pan Grandma's door
‘Come in, mi Pickney Ned? '
‘No Grandma ah mi, ah mi,
Yu darling Pickney Red.'
‘Oh, Ah yu.' crocked de wolf-
‘Have yu brought mi hard-dough bread? '
‘Oh yes Grandma, dem freshly baked.
But yu voice! ' Gasped, Pickney Red.
‘Mi have a little cold, so what?
Dat's why mi still in bed.
What yu staring at child? '
‘Oh Grandma it's yu head! '
‘And what big ears yu have, '
‘De better to hear, Pickney Jed.'
‘No Grandma ah mi, ah mi,
Yu darling Pickney Red.'
‘And what big eyes yu have.'
‘De better to see, Pickney Ed.'
‘No Grandma, ah mi, ah mi,
Yu darling Pickney Red.'
‘And what big teeth yu have.'
‘De better to eat yu Red.'
‘Yu nat, yu nat, mi Grandma? '
And out de door she fled.
A woodsman heard one bawl
Towards de noise him sped
And when him see de ugly wolf
Gobble down Pickney Red.
He took his saw and jook him.
And there de wolf bled, bled.
And not so very long afterwards
De ginnall wolf was dead.
Den out dropped grandmudder
And out dropped Pickney Red
Dey thanked de woodsman kindly
Dat de ginnall wolf was dead!

Sonny! One day you too push me when I struggle on my Wheelchair
When I pushed my Grandson's Pram
I do remember now what I told;
Sorry, I have no any regrets my son
I am proud that you're being a Pilot!
And I know that you have a limited time of Freedom
When that Exists suddenly you run to your nest
I understand the Ladybird waits for you.
Your poor Grandma also old now
And she struggles to pass a silky thread
Through eye of the needle!
And I too already threequarter senile
But still I remember your name my son.
If you find a better place in your flying career
Which is not in the given map,
Your poor Grandma and the jigsaw Grandpa
Could have wait for a while at a stopover
Until your pretty Alloy-bird safely lands!

Waiting
When darkness peeps gradually
The orphan boy met a little red riding hood.
She goes to her grandma's house
When she asked where he's going
He said; 'Nowhere to go.'
'First I go there and get permission from my grandma,
If she agrees to provide you lodging tonight,
I'll be hurry to you and please wait here.' She said.
But she never returned.
It happened a very long time ago
And she must be a grandma now.

Something You Forgot
I REMEMBER
THE TIMES WE SHARED
FILLED WITH LAUGHTER AND SHEERS
THE TIMES WE CRYED
WHEN WE TRIED SO HARD
NO TO FALL APART
TO STAY TOGETHER
LIKE THREADED LEATHER
BUT I REMEMBER
ITS JUST
SOMETHING YOU FORGOT
I REMEMBER
THE TIMES WE TALKED
THE STEPS WE WALKED
THE DAY IT RAINED
WHEN YOU AND I LAYED
TO REST AND MY HEAD ON YOUR CHEST
KEPT ME IN PLACE
WHILE I LOOKED AT YOUR FACE
BUT I REMEMBER
IS JUST
SOMETHING I FORGOT
I REMEMBER
IT LIKE YESTERDAY
WHEN GRANDMA DIED
I CAN STILL FEEL
THE TEARS FROM MY EYES
WHICH DRYED AS I CRIED
KEPT ME FROM DYING
BUT YET TRYING
BUT I REMEMBER
ITS JUST
SOMETHING YOU FORGOT

Grandma
Grandma wish you were here
the walks and the talks and playing with chalk
make me miss you most
sitting around the table playing cards
watching you dance the cards around
listening to the stories of old
boy, do i remember them well
it's been years since you gone to a better place
I miss you so
trips to the store, we enjoyed
Miller's Store small, but busy
tell me about the candies we will buy
butterscotch was our favorite
Grandma, I miss you so
thanks for sharing your stories
being my friend, giving me time
I will always have you in my dreams
walking to the store, dancing cards
love you so, missing you most
Grandma's gone, but her soul is here

My Grandma
The little old lady isn't around anymore
to push me, to encourage, as she did before
she stood only four foot eleven
so sweet, so kind just like heaven
Up at the crack of dawn
always knitting with yarn
she died at eighty-six
my problems she always could fix
With a twinkle in her eye
and being very sly,
she told me I could make it
because of fame I would get
She couldn't read or write
but she was very bright
at cards she loved to play
she knew how to count, without delay
How I miss grandma dear
loved her so, wish she was still here
so many memories of long ago
of biscuits she made out of fresh dough
As trains passed by each day,
up she lifted me to see, that was her way
everyone loved her very much
her face I wish I could touch
How I miss grandma dear
to think of her brings a tear
I know she's not here anymore
oh, if she could encourage me as before
Valentine's Day at the Whistle Stop Cafe (for my Granddaughter)
Your Valentine, my Grandma said, will be one who loves you true
He'll cook and clean and wash your smalls and not forget the blue.
Adored you'll be, my angel child, from morning until noon
He'll tease and tickle and paddle you, with love and an ice cream spoon.
Your Valentine, my Grandma said, will always let you speak
When he returns from work he'll smile and not let forth a squeak.
Admired you'll be, my angel child; he'll breakfast you in bed
Then after all the paddling's done, he'll stroke your pretty head.
Later........
My Valentine, Oh Granny dear - he said he loved me true
He never cooked and never cleaned nor thought about the blue
He snored, he did, Oh Granny dear - from morning until noon
Then had me bake a creme brulee whilst he licked the ice cream spoon.
My Valentine, Oh Granny dear - he never let me speak
He took me then he left me then he took me more each week.
He burped non stop, Oh Granny dear, and made noises in the bed
But still I love my Valentine, even now - without his head!

Things To Be Remembered
Remember your hope not your blue
Remember your share not your dues
Remember your laugh not your tears
Remember your courage not your fear
Remember your gain not your vain
Remember your joys not your pain
Remember your smile not your cross
Remember your victory not your loss
And when you'll lerarn to remember all this
Then God's huge bucket of his bliss
Will fall upon you and your fate
To tell how much God is great
And always remember this little thing
That God's gift keeps on moving in a ring
So keep on counting my dear friend
For blessings of God has no bound nor ends.

Great Grandma
Great Grandma married Great Grandpa
poor Irish girl and poor Indian man
Great Grandma
used to get beat by Great Grandpa's mom
Great Great Grandma
because Great Great Grandma only spoke an Indian
language and not English.
She got hit by a train.
Lots of us Indians got hit by trains in one way
or another, but this was
literal and not metaphor.
