Dawns Decay
each babe wakes to earths new dawn,
mistaking new for what is worn,
futures cast before they're born.
childhood cheer renews life's sheen,
repainting vistas last past seen,
brightens futures grey cast screen.
childhood cheer gives way to teen,
early brightness now unseen,
noon sun slides to evenings scene.
adults wallow in the past,
spying dusk - horizon sat,
futures span is failing fast.
the current moment caught at last,
the future spent, the past fades fast,
no escape from deaths grim grasp.

This Element
Looking for a place
where we might turn off
the inner dialogue,
the monologue
of futures & regrets,
of pasts not past enough
& futures that may never come
to pass,
we found this boat
bobbing in the blue,
this refuge amid reefs,
this white hull
within this azure sibilance of sea,
this central rocking
so like the rocking
before birth.
Venus was born of the waters,
borne over them
to teach us about love-
our only sail
on the seas of our lives
as death is
our only anchor.
If we return again & again
to the sea
both in our dreams
& for our love affairs
it is because
this element alone
understands our pasts
& futures
as she makes them
one.

The Past
Tears fill my eyes as i try to pray
still cant understand how you
could have had you childhood taking away
it is so far from ok
so much going on in my life
yet i hold it in so you can survive the night
i wipe your tears and told you
your futures bright
as i try to convince myself its alright
memories came rushing back
it could never be forgotten
so now feels like you're under attack
so much time spent burying the past
am so sorry i had to dig up the facts

Good About You
Seize the day
And it will pay
And you can find that running stream
Multiply
Watch it fly
Near of far or in between
I love the rush
But I dont understand it much
I love it
Place your fools bet
Chorus:
I wanna wear black cause it makes me feel good
I wanna be brave cause I know that I should
And I wanna feel good about you
Whoa...
I wanna feel good
Good about you
Spin the wheel
Its never real
And life is like a movie scene
Cast away
Learn to play
Like the cat who got the cream
I love the rush
But I dont understand it much
I love it
Place your fools bet
(chorus)
Sometimes your luck runs dry (runs dry)
No matter how hard you try (you try)
Cant seem to hit that winning streak
Youre changing over so fast (so fast)
The futures already past (has past)
Not every rose you smell is sweet
The queen of hearts is my lucky card
Are you my king?
Or just another joker in the pack?
You changed everything
(chorus)

Yesterday is now today by now!
Yesterday is now today!
Yesterdays' today is in the past.
Yesterdays past is today's past,
but yesterdays' tomorrow is today's' past, and its' future.
Tomorrow's' past is today's' future,
and tomorrow is today by now.
Tomorrow doesn't know yesterday,
but tomorrow's yesterday knows the future and the past.
Today is the future and the past.
Today's' future is now the past.
Today's' past is in the future,
but today's' future is tomorrow's past and future.
The futures past can be today.
The future is tomorrow and today.
The futures future is in the future,
but the future knows the past, tomorrow, today, and yesterday.

I look through my childhood
I look through my childhood as if I were there,
but yet remain in this grown up body, which in life is not fair,
I have forgotten the good times in my past,
I can't believe that my childhood moved on very fast,
I thought it would last, and last forever,
but I was wrong, it did not last, it never.
but all happens for the best,
so that I could grow up to be a man and experience life
which comes in han 'd'.
I look through my childhood.

They Have Already Murdered Their Futures
They have already murdered their futures.
With an allowing of a lack of discipline.
And the loss of self respect shown and given.
What future do they expect to have,
With no investment left protected in it.
And assisting to dismantle their own identities?
With a hope their insecurities will be accepted?
They have already murdered their futures.

For Mel (villanelle)
The one who should have lived has gone so fast.
The old ones, in their dotage, linger on –
they, with no future, live only in the past.
And we who can but sit, dumb and aghast,
scarcely believe that while the sun still shone
the one who should have lived has gone so fast.
Six decades older, surviving to their last
few days or years, together but alone,
they, with no future, live only in the past.
At least she kept on living to the last,
but should have had a future. She has none.
The one who should have lived has gone so fast,
and they, for whom so many years have passed,
are unaware that one they loved is gone.
They, with no future, live only in the past,
mark time until the final trumpet blast,
and never know the respite they have won.
The one who should have lived has gone so fast.
They, with no future, live only in the past.

Breath by Breath
Our moments are precious and
Our time is now.
Use it wisely and use it well!
There is no connecting the past
And future. The presence is the
in-between and only lasts but
Less than a breath.
The presence is so fast,
a blink of an eye and it is the past!
Then are we really living our future with
each inhale and our past goes out
with each exhale?
Are is it really just a pretence of presence?
Future - Past,
Future - Past,
Future - Past!

Tall Trees In A Blue Sky
(jack hues)
Tall trees in a blue sky
Stand together dont ask why
Stretch up to the blue sky
Pierce that ceiling if you try
You say these feelings do not last
Well I am gonna prove you wrong
You say our futures in the past
But I am gonna turn you on
Bright leaves in the sunshine
Pick me up when I feel down
Deep freeze if we don try
Seems like we go round and round
You say a dream will not last
Well I am gonna prove you wrong
You say our futures in the past
But I am gonna turn you on
Chorus:
You and me could last forever
If only we could stand together like
Tall trees in a blue sky
Like tall trees in a blue sky
Its a deep freeze if we dont try
Big man in a blue tie
Tells you things must be this way
Tall tree when the man dies
Havent heard a word he say
You say these feelings do not last
Well I am gonna prove you wrong
You say our futures in the past
But I am gonna turn you on
I am gonna turn you on
I am gonna turn you on
I am gonna turn you on
You and me could last forever
If only we could stand together like
Tall trees in a blue sky
Its a deep freeze if we dont try
Like tall trees in a blue sky
Its a deep freeze when the bombs fly

Answer Me That
There
just so,
just beyond
the shadow.
I saw it-
a single sprite-
dashing,
hiding
effervescent.
Running quickly
I can just glimpse
it rounding
the enclosement
threatening
to break out
and be gone
to Futurement
escaping
from me here Now-
gone away
from my pursuit
abandoning
Me to Me
and my meager light
in this Now..
Always the chase
always the escape
always the Sprite
hauls away to the Future
never being captured
in this,
the Now.
How my nourishment-
will
my Future be
if I am starved of it
in my current Now?
How born
is Dread
in this Now
because of this?
I cannot be
or become the Future Tense
if I have no Now.
Also, I can have no Future
if I had not been born.
My past then
is essential
obviously,
to both my Future and
my Now-
all these
seem to be in the Mix.
Somebody tell me this:
If I am
or feel like nobody Now
how can there be a Future me?
Answer me that.
If I am severed from my past
how can there be my Now
or my Future state?
More pointedly
it becomes clear,
at least to me,
I have to borrow from my Future
to sooth my Now's despair
and to placate
my Past
which harbors sorrows there.
And if I can borrow from my future
then it must too be there.
So said Einstein.
Ok.
I have answered me that.

Heart Palpitations
heart palpitations
signal
future imagined events
current worries and past history
being in the moment means
feeling the palpatations but
not being in the future or the past
or letting either of them define the now
the now defines the now as
letters flow onto the screen straight from
the fingers from the arms
dictated by the brain
the next moment has not happened in the now.

At Each Closing Day
At the closing of each closing day
When all songs sung
The singer stands alone
When words make silence speak
After words
When each moment outlives the last
When all futures are futures past
I count the hour and the day
The colour of your hair
And when first we loved
Your eyes a world within a world
Your heart a heart within a heart
With each closing day
I count the hour we first loved
Knowing only time in timelessness is found
When every grain of sand within a hour glass,
Has fallen to the ground
The seed that's sewn will blossom in it's hour
And after time, after time
Will grow into a heavenly flower

Of All The Poems I Have Written And Forgotten
OF ALL THE POEMS I HAVE WRITTEN AND FORGOTTEN
Of all the poems written and forgotten
Are there any worthy of remembrance?
I go on losing my poems as I make more of them-
The same old story
The future calls
And the past is forgotten
And all futures
Become past.
When will I learn to remember
My own work?
To cherish it
As I do that of others?
Line after line
Racing into the distance
Of a never- to- be – known
And forever forgotten
Unreality.

The Past, Now and Future
the past is what makes me, me
the now is what i choose to be
the future is what i cant see
if i live in the past
the now wont last
the future comes fast
the past was bad
the now is sad
the future has to be glad
the past is over and gone
the now is here, so i go on
the future is soon to come

Yesterdaze
Yesterdaze are gone, along with my youth
I'm older now, and longer, in the tooth
I have very few regrets from the past
You must look forward, there, the die isn't cast
The fog of the past is now hard to remember
Did that happen in October or in September
Yesterdaze can't be overcome, they're done
The choices were made, and it was fun
Much of the ‘70's is a fog in the past
Why change much, except the memories to last
It was my youth and I was a little crazy
That's what really makes it all so hazy
Too many drugs and lots of alcohol
Nobody wanted to change, anything at all
"Live for today", was the overriding theme
So many lost days, make me want to scream
Yesterdaze not tomorrows
Made a life, without many sorrows
Sure it could have been differently done
Maybe I spent too many days in the sun
There's no need to overthink the past
It is what it is, and couldn't last
We move on, with the lessons learned
At least in that daze, my mind wasn't burned
I love my future, and I love my past
Yesterdaze are gone, the future isn't cast
It was a challenge to just live through them
With the Lord's help, Yesterdaze were a gem

And that's what I liked about it, because they are, in the beginning, your little beautiful stock figures, who then make a decision to preserve their futures, but the decision they make isn't completely right, and it destroys their futures.

Headed For The Future
Written by: neil diamond, tom hensley and alan lindgren
Hey, were headed for the future
Give us some room
Were gonna build a new world
Say, were headed for the future
Give us some time
Were gonna make it work right
Yeah, were gonna build a new dream
Weve got to make it stand tall
Its got to last a long time
Lean on me
And Im gonna lean on you
Were headed for the future
And the futures now
Show you how
Yeah, were headed for a new place
A step at a time
Were gonna take a long ride
Time dont wait around forever
Weve got to do it right now
Lets do it all together
Lean on me
And Im gonna lean on you
Were headed for the future
And the futures now
Show you how
Lean on me
Cause Im gonna lean on you
Were headed for the future
Come on, lean on me
And Im gonna lean on you
Were headed for the future
And the futures ours
Come on, come on
Come on, come on
Come on, come on
Yeah

Spiritual Incarnations
Dreaming of early childhood
time cast cycles presence back
penetrating sight soul seeing
eyes absorbing orbs watching
window into interaction wordless.
Dreaming hair white in first childhood
little old man steps walks past memory
hair not yet length teenage dusty blond
those who walked this earth life before
return new incarnation in effort purpose.

My Childhood Garden
my childhood garden
my childhood garden
lush and green
it was so happy it made me scream
my joy and hopes
and all my mopes
my childhood garden
my childhood garden
with the ups and downs
when i jumped i could not touch the ground
with my purle ponys
it made it homey
my childhood garden
my childhood garden
flying high
with the little lies
the grass fine
up in the sky my kite
my childhood garden
my childhood garden
now in the past
i now know that it can never last
now as i get taller
it was differnt when i was smaller
my childhood garden

I will take the family traveling to show them my homeland, when they are old enough to enjoy the stories and experiences that come with travel. It is important to instill the past in your children, to help them navigate their futures.
