Hi 'My Name is Alan

Hi, my name is Alan,

Hi My name is karen

Hi, My name is assonance

Don't ask me why?

Sometimes it is condensed to

'ASS'

You know in that unfamiliar interlude

Between just 'in passing ' and being 'rude'

So how do I know Karen and Alan?

Though they don't know each other!

[neither friend or lover]

It is in the half ryhme of the vowel]

Alan is a plumber

Karen keeps fowls

On her farm

Alan knows how to charm

'A snake out of a U bend'

But without his rubber gloves

And cistern

He's lost for words

Karen is GERMAN

She is no good at love

Her husband klaus

Was chased out of the house

Later she ran him over

With her four wheel 'military' land rover

He now he lives quietly in Dover

With on leg permanently in plaster

They knew it would not be 'happy ever after

karen eats sauerkraut and lives with a

gerbil called 'rose'

Alan has bad manners and picks his nose

At a lonely heart meeting neither would show

And though they are destined to never meet

Assonance brings them together

Makes them complete

love Ass son ance

Aao baaten karen! (Urdu)

Aao rang e shafaq!
Shokh rang e shafaq!
Mil k baaten karen,
Uss ki baaten karen...
Ik naey rang say waqt ko rok len,
Ik naey taur say her guzartay huey pal ko awaz den,
Or dhalti hui raat ki nabz ko thaam len
iss tarha
k kisi ko khabar bhi na ho,
Iss tarha
K koi shor bhi naa macchay...
Or shamma bhi baaton me shamil rahay,
Mah o anjum bhi jhuk jhuk k suntay rahen,
sir ko dhuntay rahen,
khwab buntay rahen,
kyun naa rang e shafaq!
Shokh rang e shafaq!
Ek fursat say aankhon me raaten karen,
Mil k baaten karen,
Uss ki baaten karen...

King Of London

Bobby is the ace of hearts
Karen is the queen
Joe is the knight of the working class
With multi-coloured jeans
Ginger and rose work for unicef
Ride around on a tandem
Me I walk on air
Because Im the king of london
Alan lives in bethnal green
His brother gets into fights
Tony lives in billericay
Talks politics every night
Sheila worked for meals on wheels
Until the council made her redundant
Im a self made man
Because Im the king of london
Im the king of london
Im the king of london
Dont need speed to make me run
I can look straight into the sun
Because Im the king of london town
Keith marched for the right to work
Nothing really changed
Man at the bottom was still underground
Face at the top was the same
After all our well made plans
What went wrong I wonder
And Im not allowed to ask questions anyway
Because Im the king of london
Bobby is the ace of hearts
Karen is the queen
Freedom to be who they really are
Is something theyve never seen
Whether they make it whether they break
Or whether they just go under
Im not allowed to surrender anyway
Because Im the king of london
Im the king of london
Im the king of london
Dont need speed to make me run
I can look straight into the sun
Because Im the king of london town

Karen

At her low quaint wheel she sits to spin,
Deftly drawing the long, light rolls
Of carded wool through her finders thin,
By the fireside at the Isles of Shoals.

She is not pretty, she is not young,
Poor homesick Karen, who sits and spins,
Humming a song in her tongue,
That falters and stops, and again begins,

While her wheel flies fast, with its drowsy hum,
And she makes a picture of pensive grace
As thoughts of her well-loved Norway come
And deepen the shadows across her face.

Her collar is white as the drifted snow,
And she spun and wove her blue gown fine
With those busy hands. See, a flitting glow
Makes her pale cheek burn and her dark eyes shine!

Left you a lover in that far land,
O Karen sad, that you pine so long?
Would I could unravel and understand
That sorrowful, sweet Norwegian song!

When the spring wind blew, the "America wind,"
As your people call it, that bears away
Their youths and maidens a home to find
In this distant country, could you not stay

And live in that dear Norway still,
And let the emigrant crowd sail West
Without you? Well, you have had your will.
Why would you fly from your sheltering nest?

O homesick Karen, listen to me:
You are not young and you are not fair,
But Waldemar no one else can see,
For he carries your image everywhere.

Is he too boyish a lover for you,
With all his soul in his frank blue eyes?
Feign you unconsciousness? Is it true
You know not his heart in your calm hand lies?

Handsome and gentle and good is he;
Loves you, Karen, better than life;
But do consider him, can't you see
What a happy woman would be his wife?

You won't be merry? You can't be glad?
Still must you mourn for that home afar?
Well, here is an end of a hope I had,
And I am sorry for Waldemar!

Dinah Washington, All Alone On The Street Of Regret (circa 1977)

.
It was sunrise, October.
Karen had just done herself in.
I suffered it through with
William Blake and gin.

Over the fence across the street
Children ran to class and Blake,
Too, chased those kids fast through
Leaves in the chill school yard.

I thought - the ground's already hard over
You, Karen. To Charon, then, and keep
Yourself warm. My arms no longer can.
You left no note in the dawn.

Out of lime and song at 7 a.m.
I dress, spin down the steps like then
In this morning now thin with Spring.
There's green over you now.

I can't help but see a thin mildew
Form around your fingers in the dark.
Blake's down playing in the park.
I'll play some Dinah when I get back in.

Now, heart,

Don't you start that singing again.

It's Five O'clock Somewhere

The sun is hot and that old clock is movin' slow,
An' so am I.
Work day passes like molasses in wintertime,
But it's July.
I'm gettin' paid by the hour, an' older by the minute.
My boss just pushed me over the limit.
I'd like to call him somethin',
I think I'll just call it a day.
Pour me somethin' tall an' strong,
Make it a "Hurricane" before I go insane.
It's only half-past twelve but I don't care.
It's five o'clock somewhere.
Oh, this lunch break is gonna take all afternoon,
An' half the night.
Tomorrow mornin', I know there'll be hell to pay,
Hey, but that's all right.
I ain't had a day off now in over a year.
Our Jamaican vacation's gonna start right here.
if the 'phones for me,
You can tell 'em I just sailed away.
An' pour me somethin' tall an' strong,
Make it a "Hurricane" before I go insane.
It's only half-past twelve but I don't care.
It's five o'clock somewhere.
I could pay off my tab, pour myself in a cab,
An' be back to work before two.
At a moment like this, I can't help but wonder,
What would Jimmy Buffett do?
JIMMY BUFFETT:
Funny you should ask Alan,
I'd say:
Pour me somethin' tall an' strong,
Make it a "Hurricane" before I go insane.
It's only half-past twelve but I don't care.
ALAN JACKSON & JIMMY BUFFETT:
Pour me somethin' tall an' strong,
Make it a "Hurricane" before I go insane.
It's only half-past twelve but I don't care.
He don't care.
I don't care.
It's five o'clock somewhere.
JIMMY BUFFETT:
What time zone am I on? What country am I in?
ALAN JACKSON:
It doesn't matter, it's five o'clock somewhere.
JIMMY BUFFETT:
It's always on five in Margaritaville, come to think of it.
ALAN JACKSON:
Yeah, I heard that.
JIMMY BUFFETT:
You been there haven't you.
ALAN JACKSON:
Yes, sir.
JIMMY BUFFETT:
I seen your boat there.
ALAN JACKSON:
I've been to Margaritaville a few times.
JIMMY BUFFETT:
All right, well that's good.
ALAN JACKSON:
Stumbled all the way back.
JIMMY BUFFETT:
OK. Just wanna make sure you can keep it between the navigational beacons.
ALAN JACKSON:
Between the bouys, I gotcha.
JIMMY BUFFETT:
All right. Well, it's five o'clock. Let's go somewhere.
ALAN JACKSON:
I'm ready, crank it up.
JIMMY BUFFETT:
Let's get out of here.
ALAN JACKSON:
I'm gone.

Tree Plantation Ped lagayen, Paryawaran bachayen

Vrikash paryawaran ki shan hain
Vrikashon ko na katen hum
Ped lagayen, paryawaran bachyen
Vrikash hamari jaan hain.

Vrikash lagana acchi baat hai
Par Vrikash ki rakasha bhi Karen
Apne swarth ki khatir
Ped kaatna galat baat hai.

Ped pradushan se hame bachte
Ped hi barish late hain
Ped hi sunder fal hain dete
Aur hamari sehat banate.

Ped hamari khatir jeete
Kitna bada hai unka upkar
Khud sahkar dhoop aur toofan
Dete hame thandi bayar(Hawa) .

Vrikash hamare bade kimti
Inhe yun hi na barbad Karen
“Deep” eke k ped lagakar
Ghar apna aabaad Karen.
