The Love Sonnets Of Proteus. Part I: To Manon: XII

ON READING CERTAIN LETTERS
Reading these lines, this record of lost days
Where I am not, and yet where love has been,
This tale of passions consecrate to men
Other than me, unwitting of my ways,
I seem to hear some pagan chaunt of praise
Hymned to an idol shrine in gardens green,
Some wild soft worship of a god obscene,
Some idle homage to an idol face.
I shut my ears, yet hear it still. My eyes
See not, yet see the unchaste the unlawful fire;
I scent the odour of the sacrifice,
And feel the victim's shriek. Then in my ire
I rise up, as on Horeb, and I cry,
``There is none other god, but only I!''

Esther, A Sonnet Sequence: VIII

It was a booth no larger than the rest,
No loftier fashioned and no more sublime,
As poor a shrine as ever youth possessed
In which to worship truth revealed in time.
Yet to my soul the mean remembrance clings
With all the folly of that far fair eve,
And my pulse throbs with lost imaginings,
And passion rises from its grave to grieve.
Vain dreams, brute images! and over all
The shrill--voiced dwarf its hierarch and priest,
Vaunting its praise, a pagan prince of Baal.
It scared me as of some wild idol feast.
``The Booth of Beauty,'' thus it was I read,
Blazoned in scarlet letters overhead.

Worship

There is no worship now,—the idol stands
Within the spirit's holy resting place!
Millions before it bend with upraised hands,
And with their gifts God's purer shrine disgrace;
The prophet walks unhonored mid the crowd
That to the idol's temple daily throng;
His voice unheard above their voices loud,
His strength too feeble 'gainst the torrent strong;
But there are bounds that ocean's rage can stay
When wave on wave leaps madly to the shore:
And soon-the prophet's word shall men obey,
And hushed to peace the billows cease to roar;
For he who spoke—and warring winds kept peace,
Commands again—and man's wild passions cease.

Stifle not the reader

Reading is an art,
reading is a tool.
Those who think it dumb,
must be such a fool.

Reading is enjoyment,
reading is a blast.
Reading is a separate entity
from the future and the past.

Reading is done in present,
though written in a tense.
Reading is about life,
in surprise or suspense.

Reading is a place of joy,
full of hope and song,
Reading is a place I feel
that I truly do belong.

A trapdoor to a fantasy,
A world thought lost to us,
Reading is a place of wonder,
a place that we can trust.

Why read about reality,
when I can delve into magic.
Why stifle my own happiness,
with scenarios so tragic.

Stifle not the reader,
for it is their choice alone.
Reading is an outlet,
for hearts that turned to stone.

I'll Be Your Idol Tonight

Rewrite/parody of Whitney Houston's I'm Your Baby Tonight

Inspired By American Idol

From the moment you heard me you all went outta your minds
Thought that you never believed in love at first hearing
But I got a magic that you just can't explain
Well I got a, I got a way that I make you feel
I can do, I can do anything for you baby

I'll go down for you baby
Lay all my best out for you to see and hear tonight
Just vote for me baby
I'll even throw in a little extra cash money
It's your move, so baby decide

Whatever you want from me
I'm givin' you everythang
I'm your idol tonight
I'll be your estasy
I'll be your every fantasy
I'll be your idol tonight

From the second you heard me
You were ready to die
You've never been fatal, I'm your first time

I'm your angel, ready to fly
Well I got, I got a way that I make you feel
Feel I can, sing anything for you baby
I will fly
I will die for you baby
Hold on and enjoy the ride
I'm not in no hurry
Gonna fly for you all night baby
It's your move
It's your vote, now baby, let's fly

Whatever you want from me
I'm givin' you everythang
I'm your idol tonight
I'll be your estasy
I'll be your every fantasy
I'll be your idol tonight

Whatever I sing honey
It's all for you baby
And ain't the truth sugar
You're falling helplessly in love with me
Gonna vote for me everytime baby
Cos I've got, I've got a way that I make you
Feel I can, feel I can sing anything, sing anything

Whatever you want from me
I'm givin' you everythang
I'm your idol tonight
I'll be your estasy
I'll be your every fantasy
I'll be your idol tonight

Looks like I'm fatal
It's all on the table
And baby you hold my fate in your hands
You got the votes
And I've got to have them
I don't want just a few million
I want every last single one
I'll be your dirty pop rock angel
I'm ready, willing and able
Whatever you want me to sing is fine
Whenever you're ready, just call to hire this lady
And I'll be your idol tonight

Whatever you want from me
I'm givin' you everythang
I'm your idol tonight
I'll be your estasy
I'll be your every fantasy
I'll be your idol tonight

Living A Boys Adventure Tale

(pal waaktaar/morten harket)
Ive fixed my dwelling for the night
Lights in pairs come passing by
Where I hide
I need some time now on my own
Leave my loneliness alone
To lick my wounds
Night has found me just in time
To help me close my eyes
One more time
Living a boys adventure tale
In so many ways
Living a boys adventure tale
For so many days
Im living a boys adventure tale
Cant escape, if I wanted to
Living a boys adventure tale
I may be dreaming but I feel awake
Ive been lost in so many places
Seeked love in so many faces
A change of weather,
The rain pours down
My head in hands,
Pressed to the ground
And where am I supposed to go now
Living a boys adventure tale
In so many ways
Living a boys adventure tale (aah)
Living a boys adventure tale
A voice I hear
Living a boys adventure tale
Singing a lullaby for me
Living a boys adventure tale
Because of you
Living a boys adventure
Oh you know its true
Living a boys adventure tale
In so many ways (aah)
For so many days
I love you. I love you
So many ways

Idolatory

idolatory
many commit it
even without a trace
of an idol
for in their heart
god has become
an idol itself
day in and day out
they pray
to him for favours
and when
they are not forthcoming
god is put
in a corner
of the heart
unfit even for idols
- forgotten
and loathed
- as they look
to another idol
for favours
the devil
sure knows
the best place
to make an idol
out of god
Lot is one in
a trillion

You Told Me to Shut Up

Why can't you shut up,
And let me say something?
You've always got something to say...
About something or somebody,
Who does not see life your way.

Everyday...
That's all I hear.
Words from you I can not get out of my ears.
Even what you're doing right now,
Irritates.
Don't think for a moment I am easy bait!
Or victim to your ways of escalating quick debate.
I know exactly what you're doing.

'Which is...
What?
You told me to shut up! '

Yeah!
But...
Why do you have to be,
So good at it!

A Pagan Place

How did he come here?
Who gave him the key?
Slipped it in his hand
So secretly
And who put the colour
Like lines on his face?
Brought him here
To a pagan place
Now who shot his arrow?
How high did it fly?
When he tipped it with poison
Did he even know why?
What unseen hand
Brought him face to face to face to face with
All this and more
In a pagan place?
Come into my parlour
Sail in at my shore
Drink my soul dry
There is always more
There is always more after now
Fly on my carpet
Look into my face
See the heart of man
In a pagan
In a pagan
In a pagan
In a pagan
In a pagan
Pagan...

Putting in the seed

Your body is soft and hot
where you lie,
stretched out on the bed.

Every part of your body
draws my eyes
and somehow there’s more,
than just need and lust
that awakes between us.

Two mounts with tipped peaks
rise up and down
and respond to soft touch
and your neck is slender
and slim under my lips.

You shiver as I touch your ears
and something in your eyes
make my manhood raise
and your soft fingers
lingers magically over me.

A curling patch
with tuffs of black hair
draws my fingers,
down to the hot and soft intensity
of becoming part of you.

a Hallowed moment hangs
between us
and when I enter you
there’s magic,
that envelops me
and we twist and rise
and sway
and your cries and moans
drives me wild
and I feel you shudder
under me
and the seed frizzes out.

Moments drag on and on
and I am putting the seed
into fertile ground
and I hear you breathe
and feel your heart beat
as part of me
and I am yours
and your hair brushes
soft and tickling
over my cheek
and there’s sparks
deep down in your golden eyes
and somehow I can feel God
in the love between us.

Her Poetry

Her soft, warm voice soothed me
at 4 years old, as she sat knitting,
reading out loud the poetry
I so loved to hear.

Her agile fingers clicking needles,
her eyes darting from page to pattern,
reading Wordsworth or Keats,
softly with feeling.

At 4 years old she was my world,
my goddess and I was the mischief
who searched for the stitches she ‘dropped'
on our living room floor.

Only in dreams do I hear her voice now,
only in dreams do the words drift over me
and the woollens she'd knit
still sit behind the wardrobe door.

Is Time a Healer?

Too many lies have reached my ears.
They say time erases the tears.
But I have found this is not true
for pain is with me through and through.
I miss him at the break of day
and still hear people say.
'Time is a healer. You will see.'
but all it does is create memory.

Reminders are in the smell of the air.
I breathe it in on days so fair.
I hear a song that takes me back
to distant times and I overreact.
My heart is stricken and cannot heal.
It's lost its power to even feel.
I will not listen to anyone's lies.
I'll close my ears and shut my eyes
and pray for memories to recede.

Flawless Belief

As ashes slowly fall I turn to heed my inner call
To feel the gap within my soul
I must find the one inside the whole
Flawless belief, is what my eyes see
A shining figure here before me
A divine idol we all plead to
I'm down on my knees I worship you with owe
I'm down on my knees my belief forever strong
And I call out to you my lord of light
Watch my faith how it glows
God await that I know
My praise for him I shall bestow...
And sing it, praise you lord, he is the lord
In all pas centuries I've lived
False believers lived in eternal lie
We live our life - amen
Giving love to the end
Shadows rise and fall
At God's divine call
The answer to my pleas
Let all madness cease
This will be done

Inside The Library

one may accuse
a man reading a pile of books
of hiding away
from the touch of a lover
those fragile hands
not equated with the rough
feel of a page of
a book,
one may negate
his search as something
unnecessary
which should have better
be spent in the fields
of strawberries
and the stretch of green grass
and the tall lines of trees
in that cool green forest
but this man
does not sleep too
finding the words
in fact eating some of the
letters and
god forbids
now drinking some of
the dreary moisture
from the nooks
breathing the emptiness of
the shadows of the
room
till night.

he is on one hand
also a shape of sacrifice
a monument of greatness
a god
of those cockroaches
who by time shall
understand all these
quivers

Can You Hear Me Lucinda?

I am yelling Lucinda...
Asking you to open up your ears--
For you have been deaf far too long--
For way too many years;

Theres so much that you've missed out on...
With those ears that have been closed...
Can you hear me Lucinda?
All of the rhyme, the reason, the prose? ;

And what of your eyes Lucinda?
How long are you going to just keep looking away?
The truth is staring you in the face, Lucinda...
All of the horrid of yesterday! ;

Is it all just too heart wrenching?
Too much for your broken heart to face?
Can you hear me now Lucinda?
Beyond all of the ruffles, trifles and the frilly lace? ;

Beyond all of their false praise?
Beyond all of your friends who only pretend?
Beyond all of the reality that you face this day?
Beyond all of your real enemies eventual end? ;

Can you hear me now, Lucinda?
Are your ears opened up wide?
Are your eyes finally focusing, Lucinda?
There is no reason for you to hide! ;

For it was always them, Lucinda...!
It was always their plans and their schemes...! ! !
Counterfeit souls with greedy greenback goals...! ! !
Who shattered all of your dreams! ;

I know its all too painful...
But face them you must-my dear!
Its time for your eyes to see them and their reality...!
And its time for your ears to fully hear! ;

Defects are effects

The part, which is defective with anyone
Is not so for you when that part happens
To be of a modal or an idol of your citadel.
A crooked tooth or a twisted lip, be it.
You are my idol, who drops its defects.

Likewise is the wrong with anyone,
Which is not so for you when that one
Is of your celebrity or a heartthrob.
Stubbornness or elusiveness, be it.
You are my heartbeat, wrongs shut out.

Between The Lines

Verse 1:
Ive been searching
Ive been thinking
Ive been searching so long
What I am looking for
Ive been hearing love will hit you
But everybodys wrong
Cause I just happen to notice
That certain look in your eye
Chorus:
Im reading between the lines
I didnt need no neon signs
To notice baby
I never before had you on my mind
But now I really do
Verse 2:
Nothing major ever happened
But its the greatest feeling Ive ever had
Strong emotions all have left me
Just a tenderness inside my heart
Just happened to notice a knowing smile
Chorus
(now I really do)
Just happened, I noticed
That certain look in your eyes
Im reading between the lines
I didnt need no neon signs
To notice baby
I never before had you on my mind
Im reading between the lines
I didnt need, didnt need no neon
To notice baby
I never before, never before
I knew it, I knew it
Bridge:
Started dreamin about you baby
Now I know just what Im feeling
Can it be you are my baby?
Never gonna let you go
Oh it took so long to feel it
(so very long to feel it)
But it was worth the waiting baby
Never gonna-never gonna let you go
(read between, read between the lines)
Didnt need no neon signs
Oh it took so long to feel it
(so very long to feel it)
But it was worth the waiting baby
(read between, read between the lines)
Didnt need, didnt need, didnt need no neon
(notice baby)
(read between, read between the lines)
I didnt need no neon signs
I knew it, I knew it
(read between, read between the lines)
Between the lines
(read between, read between the lines)
Im reading between the lines....
