Your Throat Oddly Fish-Shaped - Making Amends
I return to you, a parenthesis in the sea of loneliness.
Each star, each breast, you have removed
in my absence, mourning made permanent,
scars upon your throat oddly fish-shaped.
Astonished, my voice returns, curses, then caresses,
withered left hand free to unravel regret nerve for
nerve, the only net worth mending.
I reserve this one strange act from a year of orthodoxy,
to anoint your feet with tears.
I dry them with my hair, your outstretched arms
a beseeching beyond emptiness, your chest barren
but for my hands remembering the uses of prayer,
kisses but murmurs, rumored stars where swollen sails had been.

The Year I Almost Became A Catholic by Raul Voz
(translated from the Spanish by Warren Falcon)
The year I almost became a Catholic
5 stars rose from your breasts in Spring.
My nest was a sudden disturbance in blue.
A veil
a floating head
bleeding thorns
adorned your white throat.
I fled from my boat after one
long night of fishing only to
arrive ashore with torn nets
and apparitions upon my knees.
Without will my cursing ceased.
I discovered I was speechless.
I learned to speak with my hands.
Curious circular clouds surrounded
particular heads without logic.
Genuflections strange rearranged
the air in front of my chest while I
sat upon or hid my left hand.
Purple became everything dear.
Roses diminished before your
bare feet treading upon a serpent,
a tourniquet of gold each ankle
entwining.
Virgin stars minus 5 surrounded
your curved shape defiant of robes
meant to convey the holy restraining
in my groin.
Odd collections mounted in the attic
where I retired to cloister and wait.
Leaden pilgrimage up and down pointless
stairs accumulated distance.
My beard became a convention of lepers and bells.
Fingernail parings
clumps of hair
bits of flesh
sacks of ears
all were relics in the making.
I became an accountant listing and numbering each holy scrap.
I tried not to be critical but my eyes lied.
I could not confess except by pencil,
leaving notes and grease stains
for the priest to interpret.
Absolution my hope,
a mute vow was my prosthesis.
Then Spring returned.
My boat sank. All mended nets,
a year's work, were lost.
Nothing to do.
I return to you, a parenthesis in the sea of loneliness.
Each star, each breast, you have removed
in my absence, mourning made permanent,
scars upon your throat oddly fish-shaped.

I Have Reserved Time to Write This; Why?
I sat in the nature reserve
Watching the animals playing football
I was just a reserve
Not in the first eleven
I had a seat in the theatre reserved
I watched the play unfold
I not an actor I’m too reserved
I’m in the audience where I belong
I was called up by the army
Served before; but they wanted me to re-serve
I was playing tennis; the ball went wide
They made me re-serve
Reserve your energy
Reserve your nerve
Keep your humour in reserve
Keep your reserve in reserve
I reserve the right to say you asked me to write this
And I have kept the best in reserve
You will have to reserve an appointment
With a proper poet after you’ve read this
An anagram of reserve
Is reverse
I wish I could reverse time
Then I wouldn’t have wrote this

U Got Nerve
Gave you chances
On top of chances
Opportunities taken for granted
My reality is all your exshalities
'Cause insanity
Why you askin me?
Took my kindness
For a sign of weakness
My own blindness
'Cause my sadness
No longer am a slave
Over your madness
I am glad it's finally over
CHORUS:
Who do you think
You are now?
I can't believe you've
Got the nerve boy
Who do you think
You are now?
I can't believe you've
Got the nerve boy
See I'm tired of all the games
That you seem to like to play
See what you can do for me
Is forget you knew my name
See your qualities are
Less than pleasing
I got more than
One reason for leaving
It's time to close shop
Open new chapters
See new beginnings is
What I'm after
Get your skeletons up
Out my closet
Don't make me lose it
I just might lose it
Who do you think
You are now?
(Yeah)
I can't believe you've
Got the nerve boy
(Can't believe)
Who do you think
You are now?
(Yeah, yeah)
I can't believe you've
Got the nerve boy
(Oh yeah babe)
Who do you think
You are now?
(Who do you think you are?)
I can't believe you've
Got the nerve boy
(Yeah, yeah, yeah)
Who do you think
You are now?
I can't believe you've
Got the nerve boy
See I'm tired of all the games
That you seem to like to play
See what you need to do is
Forget you knew my name
I'm a play ya till you've left
'Cause you talkin' me to death
See I ain't even sad that
I'm here all by myself
Who do you think
You are now?
I can't believe you've
Got the nerve boy
(Yeah, yeah)
Who do you think
You are now?
I can't believe you've
Got the nerve boy
(Yeah, yeah)
Repeat chorus
Yeah, yeah
You've got the nerve boy
Yeah, yeah
You've got the nerve boy

Take This Body
Take this body, my love,
my body, my love,
feel my knees and my arms,
feel my fingers on your hair,
cold fingers, sad fingers,
kiss my mouth, my love,
ever so gently
caressing my chest and stroking my hair,
play with it-whatever is left of it-
I'm sad, my love,
and as I hear you laugh,
I feel the water around my eyes,
my brown eyes, the eyes of a poet,
the eyes of a stranger-
I'm a stranger, my love,
I'm a stranger in a strange land
of secret kisses and lovelorn faces,
of cold bodies huddled together,
hiding behind stiff dresses
and tightly fitting jeans,
I'm a stranger to a kiss,
I'm a stranger to a moist mouth
and a playful tongue,
I'm a stranger to a warm breast,
I stand here bespectacled and confused,
scratching my scraggly beard,
forcing a faint smile-
there is so much pain, my love,
right here in the palm of my hand,
right here in the lump of my throat,
right here in the tightness of my chest,
I'm strung like an instrument
with shrunken testicles
and immobilized toes-
see me tremble, my love,
see me shed a tear
onto this dusty world-
I'm with you, my love,
I'm with you alone,
I'm with you in embrace
of tender passion,
I'm in love with you
and that's why
I'm full of
tears.

Cause And Control
a nerve has its own domain
like a territory
when a bone creates a wrong
the nerve begins to run
out of control
an impingement
an erroneous reach out
a right arm screams in pain
stressed out
the mind invents a fabrication
you do not mind it
trace the cause
it's but a nerve, that nerve
that hate.

The Nerve
Im glad I had the nerve to talk to you that day
I could just have easily have let you get away
In that crowded airport, far from my hometown
If I had lost my courage then, you wouldnt be around
Im glad I had the nerve.
And Im glad he had the nerve to get down on his knees
And say I bought this ring for you, wont you wear it please?
My daddy sure touched somethin in my mommas heart somehow
If he hadnt, I sure wouldnt be here with you now
Im glad he had the nerve.
Or I never wouldve lived like this
Or learned like this
Or laughed like this
Or loved like this
Im glad he had the nerve to sail across the sea
My great grand-daddys great grandpa in 1833
He met an indian maiden in the smoky mountain mist
If they hadnt crossed that line, I would not exist
Im glad they had the nerve.
And Im glad he had the nerve, while staring into space
To give this universe a time and a place
With one tiny atom or an adam and an eve
However you look at it, whatever you believe
Im glad he had the nerve.
Or we never wouldve live like this
Or learned like this
Or laughed like this
Or loved like this
Thank God he had the nerve.
And Im glad I had the nerve to talk to you that day

Cross To Bear
You ran away with your conscience dear
There was a red flag waving in my ear saying
stay away youve got something to fear
Well why did I not choose to hear
Well I am through with suffering
Gonna make better choices I dont need no wedding ring
I can sing I can dance
But I cant make thus feeling cease
Cause deep in my soul you left a permanent crease and
We all got our cross to bear
Our star of david our dreadlocked hair
And oh yeah baby I still care
And if you need some help
You know Ill always be there
Well its been a strange year
Youve been a very bad dog
As my fire went out
Youd put on another log
But it was worth never having any peace
And deep in my soul you left a permanent crease and
Repeat chorus
Some nights I thought Id cry forever
Id wish him away and then Id turn into a beggar
But it was worth always scraping my knees
And deep in my soul you left a permanent crease
I wear my heart like a wrinkle on my sleeve
And Ive got the aching love that only you can relieve
But Im not afraid to go down with a sinking friend
Im gonna live out my dreams even if they kill me in the end
Repeat chorus

Stressed Out
Your hair looks like
it's falling out
left in the comb
it won't come off
your head hangs low
your legs get weak
leftovers on the tabletop
and I'm so stressed out yeah
you lift your arms
over your head
and run your fingers
through what's left
you eye's tear up
your stomach burns
your upside down
start to invert
and I'm so stressed out yeah
invert
so yo keep on living
but everything still falls apart
keep bing who your being
and it keeps on fallng out
save yourself
I'm on my last nerve
save your self
put on your best swerve
save yourself
I'm on my last nerve
save yourself
self-served
save yourself
save yourself

The Purpose...
i have never explained to you
what goodbye meant
when i left you, it was raining
you want to hold my hand, but it was slippery
there was running water in my palm
my eyes were blinded by mist
i have still all the explanations
but still i must keep them and
bring these all to my grave
buried there with me...
it was not that i lack the love
that was all reserved for you
always remember that....there is nothing
that fulfills me
my emptiness is an ocean without fish
inside are the glaciers of cold thoughts
your boat on fragile sails deserves a better sea
calm and clean and clear
where corals nest where fish are abundant
i have no regret having loved you and left you
you are happy now, my departure has served
so well the purpose with which it was done.

I Know You Will Return Back One Day
I know you will return back one day
With the touch of your hands you will heal my wounds
Those hands that at the past were companions of my road
With their tender touch how long they wiped away my tears
I will tell you about my days after the day that you have gone
I will throw my poor body in your arms and i'll cry
I know you will come and knock my door one day
And if I was not alive my spirit will be there
I will throw my tired soul in your shoulders and i'll cry
And then all my tears will disappear
In your arms my heart will born once again
To fly free at the sky and will sing your pure love song
And my heart will get free from the prison of my chest.

Crushed
I'm so crushed when I think about you the need is so strong.
I think its going to devour me and drive me crazy.
I want you but your heart belongs to someone else.
I can't help but be jealous of her, then i began to think.....
What's it like to kiss your lips?
What's it like to feel your arms around me?
What's it like to lay with you and put my head on your chest and feel each heartbeat?
Will my daydream ever become a reality? it it meant to be?
The ache comes back and the only cure is you.
Your kisses, your hugs, your strong arms around me telling me your mine and mine alone.
My heart threatens to tell you how i feel but i don't want you to think I'm psycho.
If i had the nerve i would tell you.....
I just want to run my fingers though your curly hair.
Watch a scary movie so you can hold me when I'm scared.
Just sit and talk.
I don't want to move too fast.
Just take it slow.
Will I ever get the chance?
I'm not like the the other girls i could love you better.

Love Or Loneliness
(r. parker, jr.)
Had a nice time
I enjoyed the picture show
When you walked me to my door
I knew I wanted more
When I asked you in
It was already getting late
Though I knew better
I didnt eaven hesitate
I like the way you hold me
And make me feel so good
Though I say I wouldnt
You kinda knew that I would
Its been so long since ive
Been with a man
Better ask myself
While I still can
Is this love or is it just loneliness
When the sun comes up is this something we will both regret
Is this love or is it just loneliness
We ought to stop and ask ourselves is it really worth it
And how about you
Do you really want me
Or am I just here
To please your masculinity
You dont see me emough
To let me know you care
You know the worst thing for a woman
Is a sometime love affair
Seems like every time
I satisfy your needs
You dont call me back
For two or three weeks
What am I gonna do
I just cant fight
The temptation of loving you
Is this love or is it just loneliness
When the sun comes up is this something we will both regret
Is this love or is it just loneliness
We ought to stop and ask ourselves is it really worth it
Sometimes its hard
To tel the difference
Im just not sure
If its worth it
Is this love or is it just loneliness
When the sun comes up is this something we will both regret
Is this love or is it just loneliness
We ought to stop and ask ourselves is it really worth it
cause you never show up til midnight
Then you go home early
Now you know that aint right
Ive got a question I wanna ask you
Do you really love me or am I just a fool
Is this love or is it just loneliness
When the sun comes up is this something we will both regret
Is this love or is it just loneliness
We ought to stop and ask ourselves is it really worth it

The Inner Side Of Your Perfection
to get intimacy
you make love
to be more intimate
you need to make love some more
like a string of
buds of
tiny flowers
seemingly you want it without
an ending
eternity & infinity
side by side
but there is no intimacy in intimacy
since after each lovemaking
you return to the
emptiness of your arms again
less the other arms of those
other nights & other nights
before them
a cold night returns
with empty hands
and winds begin to pass
by your face
between your eyes
beyond your
hair
outside all of you
finally you try embracing yourself again
as though
you are another distinct set of arms
unto your
inner arms
and then you become one
without need
of any other
silent and
complete

Face
When I see your
Dimpled smile :)
Twinkling* eyes
Glistening grin!
Naughty wink ;)
And the stubbled chin
Of a day old shave.
I feel like making love
To your Adonis Face
With kisses and caresses.
Tracing you with my
Touches...through the
Ruffles of your hair
The contours of your
Visage ~ to the
Curls on your nape
Down the deep trenches
Of your tempting throat.
What?
Not Satiated?
Want a bit more?
But remember,
It was all about
Making love to your Face!
OK.
A little low down.
Let me see ;)
What I can do
With my hands
And mouth:
On those Tips
Of your
Matted Chest.

Oh theres somethin in your soul

And lovin you baby lovin you darlin
Lovin you woman is a mans mans job
Lovin yous a mans job baby

Well of all of his tricks
No they wont be enough

Lovin you darlin is a mans mans job
Lovin yous a mans job baby
Lovin yous a mans job
Lovin yous a mans job baby

Im standing here waitin to catch your eye
Your hands on his neck as the music sways
All my illusions slip away
Repeat riff from intro twice
Now if youre lookin for a hero
Someone to save the day
Well darlin my feet
Theyre made of clay
But Ive got something in my soul
And I wanna give it up
But gettin up the nerve
Gettin up the nerve
Gettin up the nerve is a mans mans job
Lovin yous a mans job baby
Lovin yous a mans job
Lovin yous a mans job woman
Lovin yous a mans job

White Magic
Is it not a wonderful thing to be able to force an astonished plant to bear rare flowers which are foreign to it. . . and to obtain a marvelous result from sap which, left to itself, would have produced corollas without beauty? -VIRGIL.
I stood forlorn and pale,
Pressed by the cold sand, pinched by the thin grass,
Last of my race and frail
Who reigned in beauty once, when beauty was,
Before the rich earth beckoned to the sea,
Took his salt lips to taste,
And spread this gradual waste-
This ruin of lower, this doom of grass and tree.
Each Spring could scarcely lift
My brows from the sand drift
To fill my lips with April as she went,
Or force my weariness
To its sad, summer dress:
On the harsh beach, I heard the grey sea rise,
The ragged grass made ceaseless, dim lament,
And day and night scarce changed the mournful skies.
Foot on the sand, a shadow on the sea!
A face leaned over me.
Across each wasted limb
Passed healingly a warm, great, god-like hand.
I was drawn up to him,
From my frail feet fell the last grains of sand.
Then haste and darkness stooped and made me theirs;
Deep handed me to deep; . . .
I faded then as names fade from men's prayers,--
As a sigh at last made friends with sleep.
But the same hand that bore me from the sea,
Waking me tenderly,
Bound me to a rough stranger of my race,--
Me weary and pale to him, and him to me.
I turned my piteous face
Aside ashamed; I struggled to be free.
I slept, I dreamed, I woke to that embrace! . . .
Sweet tides stole through my veins,
Strange fires and thrills and pains;
To my cold lips the bloom crept back once more
I glowed as a bride glows;
I watched the day with delicate hands restore
My kinship with the rose.
About my throat my hair went like a flame,
My brows were wreathed, in purple I was dressed,
I bore my bride's name,
A great star burned my breast.
No longer bound, I leaned the same sweet way
Towards her lover. Now astonished I
Who was a beggar stand obediently
Beside Cophetua.

If your Nerve, deny you

If your Nerve, deny you—
Go above your Nerve—
He can lean against the Grave,
If he fear to swerve—
That's a steady posture—
Never any bend
Held of those Brass arms—
Best Giant made—
If your Soul seesaw—
Lift the Flesh door—
The Poltroon wants Oxygen—
Nothing more—

Gazing Upon A Star In Memory Of Another Star
Sometimes we take moments for granted
Some days we never really appreciate the meaning of life
Somehow we never realize what it really means to spend a day with those we care about
So somewhere beyond the clouds I hope we will meet again
so that I can make it up to you for the moments we never had.
With tears flowing to tell my sorrow,
Here I am gazing upon a star in memory of another star
Clock ticked, seasons changed
Smiles came, laughter passed
Wounds would heal but scars never did
Heart still bleeding a sea of pain,
Guess the bandages can never conceal the lesion left behind
If I had one wish it's your smile on my wish list
Two words to say, I'd say them to you
But now all I can do is gaze upon a star in memory of another star
Wish I could turn back the hands of time to make the moments we never lived
But it feels like the clock stopped ticking when your heart stopped beating
I kept believing because I never wanted to start grieving
I held their hands to keep them strong and with your words I sought to console them
Couldn't shed a tear because I had to dry their tears
But here I am drowning in my tears wishing I had someone to come comfort me
But all I can do is gaze upon a star in memory of another star
With 1 hand high I'll take 6 steps back
Can't breathe no more so I'll take a 0 to the floor and cry some more
8 moves to get up, I hope it's enough to express the pain deep inside my chest
i thought 0 wounds were left but it's truly a valley of anguish and I'm scared to visit it
hands together so I'll pray to the Lord that at His feet we'll meet again
Feel like I'm at the worlds edge trying to dance the pain away
1,6,0,8,0,9 are the figures my head will never forget.
So I'll dance and move all those steps till they spell that date
When I sat all alone gazing out into the night sky with 2 eyes wet
just like I'm doing now with both eyes soaked
Gazing upon a star in memory of you.

Colleen Says
Never, have I seen a boy with as many scars as you.
It's almost like they are an inherent nevus with roots linking your mind to your body, your history with this present moment, your hardships and armor.
I first noticed the one on your upper lip when we made love in the hall.
And, When I saw it, in my eyes, with secular clarity I felt a deep passion for you, and began searching the cosmos of your body for more blemishing marks.
They all spoke to me loudly some of childhood with your adventurous spirit getting into trouble, others of punishments inflicted by your father, some even spooked me tremendously, I imagined the struggles you have had, and all those constellations linked by a thread each scar with the histories, of great legends, each with its place as if without them your skin will loosen and you would unravel in my arms.
What I am trying to say is this, You wouldn't be complete without your scars.
The ones on your knuckles and over your eyes
The tiny bites down your neck, on your wrist, your ribs and your surgery scars. All of them!
Even the one you have on the paw of your left foot, you thought couldn't find that one, my bear? how could I forget my favorite, I imagine you do sometimes, I see the memory of that one is particularly painful, and cannot blame you, I imagine you off your feet for weeks. or unaturally wandering with a slight limp. I want you to love me tenderly and completely. if only you could taste the dopamine in my saliva, youd know that those scars can be mended, taste my divertimento.
I want to trace the bulging veins on your arms which are like the rails connecting your memories to your scars like highways, freeways and expressways, I want to see your throbbing scars your throbbing sex I don't want to be afraid, and I want them to be mine. I guess all this means is that without you I would unravel.

Five Long Years
(by eddie boyd)
Have you ever been mistreated? you know just what Im talking about.
Have you ever been mistreated? you know just what Im talking about.
I worked five long years for one woman, she had the nerve to put me out.
I got a job in a steel mill, shucking steel like a slave.
Five long years, every friday I come straight back home with all my pay.
Have you ever been mistreated? you know just what Im talking about.
I worked five long years for one woman, she had the nerve to put me out.
I finally learned my lesson, should a long time ago.
The next woman that I marry, she gonna work and bring me the dough.
Have you ever been mistreated? you know just what Im talking about.
I worked five long years for one woman, she had the nerve,
She had the nerve,
She had the nerve,
She had the nerve to put me out.
