Wisdom Learned Applied
fish hooks in the skin
pain removed forgotten
sometimes only in your face
gets attention in permanent lessons
remembered taught to mind
with wisdom hard experience won
thus is wisdom often learned applied

Sixty at sixteen

Inattention Accidents Emergencies
Inattention
has sharp consequences.
Accidents
are fish hooks in the skin.
Prevention
forethought is the best cure.
Emergencies
demand in your face solutions.
Sometimes
only in your face gets attention.
Experience
can be a brutal harsh reality teacher.

About Survival And Life
There are so many things I have learned,
About survival and life and healing from pain.
I've learned that those who ignore,
Others doing their best to painfully survive...
Will eventually learn a few lessons themselves.
And for some who shun others as an expectation,
Especially those...
Unaccustomed to being shunned themselves,
The pain to them that comes will be incredible.
Although...
An adjustment aided by one's hindsight often helps.
Allowing lessons as lessons are to be taught and learned,
No matter how difficult the acceptance is....
To provide just the right amount of significant influence.

Some Impatiently Must Review Lessons
We are human.
And everyone with a taste of experience,
Wishes to have the last word.
And those who seek it,
Get it.
With a lesson for them...
Questioned whether or not,
One has been learned.
Those wanting to comprehend,
Choose to listen.
With understanding as the condition.
Acknowledging a wisdom has been achieved.
Leaving those who get their last word,
Hearing what 'they' say...
And nothing else is perceived.
Some impatiently must review lessons...
Mistakenly thought taught.

Boys To Men
Growing up can be a pain
Youre not an man until you come of age
Weve given up our teenage years
In the effort to pursue our career
Who assumes responsibility
Of having to support our families
Whos protecting us from harm
Is there anyone around
That we can trust
So we search for answers to our questions
Looking for answers
No answers but were taught a lesson everytime
Through mistakes weve learned to gather wisdom
Lifes responsibility falls in our hands
Keep on learning
Keep on growing
cause wisdom helps us understand
Were maturing
Without knowing
These are the things that change boys to men
Oh the goals we set may exceed reality
Cause failurealways a possibility
Who can tell us that were wrong
Its up to us to figure out
What life is all about
So we search for answers to questions
Looking for the answers
No answers but were taught a lesson everytime
Through mistakes weve learned to gather wisdom
cause wisdom helps us see our responsibility.

Just A Theory About Wisdom
Wisdom can be difined by acumens performance;
As, yes...... Rome could have been built in one day,
It just would not have survived to see a second day.
Wisdom sometimes is just common sense applied.
Yet, then we were taught never to pass Judgement!
Who then should be resposible to awaken the dead,
Before the roots of Armageddon.....rear their seeds?
The answer is, each one of us in sync with all others,
With our one common thread that cannot be denied.
We were all borne of ash.....and we'll all die the same.
Which then places us all.......in the same sinking boat.
And so, then, in reality......Wisdom speaks in the end-
About being in the Right Place....~...at the Right Time,
Though it might be wise as well....to own a spare boat!

Words Of Winsdome
So many words have passed through my mind
Never thought i'd be so blind
I wish i could understand you
So many things i've heard and seen
But still don't know what you mean
When you say " i'm leaving you "
I wish i could remember
Everything i've learned
I've tried and i've tried to be so good
And i know i should
Say something before you go
Cause every time i've done something wrong
It's so hard to be strong
Gone are the feelings i want to show
Oh....words of wisdom
Oh....teach me more
Oh....words of wisdom
Oh....so much more

Bumps and Bruises
If one wishes to build a home,
But does not command the expertise...
An architect is consulted.
If expenses are there.
And a success one seeks...
Has a better chance,
To achieve completion!
Although one may decide,
To do everything that needs to be done.
The process is much slower.
But a wealth of knowledge is obtained!
If one without experience wishes to drive,
Lessons are learned...
And if one survives through impatience,
That wish to drive is a dream that comes alive.
However,
If one wants to write, skydive or fly a kite...
That has to be done.
Although I admit,
There are some lessons that may come.
Like having an accident...
Makes one a better driver, a skydiver or a kite flyer!
If one survives the humiliation,
Of those observing attempts made of one,
Not yet at one's best!
And one is not yet attempting to win first place,
Upon entering one's initial race or contest!
And getting better at it will come,
If desire over-rides any criticisms heard!
To allow feelings to mend.
Once bandages are removed!
And 'that' experience one needs then begins!
With some bumps and bruises remembered.

Life’s Lessons
From our very birth we enroll in life’s school,
Adhere to wisdom and don’t be counted a fool,
After we first learn to dine, converse and walk,
We find instruction on teachers board in chalk,
Then much advanced education we seek to find,
Merely with worldly jumble we pack our mind,
Truthful wisdom to us our ancestors did impart,
From which we chose straight away to depart,
Moral principles from our youth we were taught,
But after worldly gratification it was we sought,
Youthful life was lived fast; rolling and rocking,
Then the school of hard knocks came a knocking,
And for true knowledge my empty soul yearned,
But only selfishness in everything I had learned,
So blinded by worldly mind-set I could not see,
Others mattered and that it was not all about me,
The golden rule I’ve found to be absolutely true,
Do unto others as you would have them do to you,
Ancient wisdom makes for much brighter days,
Abundant truth can only be found in GOD’s ways!

Taking Mental Notes
Offering life's lessons,
Free of lip upoin delivering it
As if one has seen it all,
Is not the action of one wise
Who has gone through personal,
And lip biting experiences.
To advise others,
As to what they 'should' do
And how to do it to resolve their issues,
Only proves one thing.
What one has experienced,
May not be the lessons
Another has to be be taught,
And may not be those lessons
Given at the time,
One paying attention should avoid.
Many must experience the same situations.
But when the time comes,
For that testing to be done!
Taking mental notes,
Is suggested.

Irving's Botany
He was a teacher,
but, I wonder if he taught me,
or I learned, against my will,
what he intended?
Make no mistake - - -
I learned some things from him,
even some of what he meant,
but, not enough to make him,
ever feel fulfilled, I think.
He was a teacher,
but, more of a professor,
professing attitudes at school kids,
that most of us weren't ready for quite yet.
All that being said,
I learned some real things,
weather I intended to, or not...
I still got taught!
... NOW... That's a teacher!
Maybe it was pounded into,
my somewhat solid head,
- - - but, the fact that some got in there,
is a testament to him.
The education system does presume,
that everyone progresses as predicted,
... according to a schedule,
that everyone pretends to...
... but, no one understands.
That is a great idea for cutting cookies,
Henry Ford adapted that so brilliantly,
when it came to building cars,
- - - But, when it comes to building people,
- - - it is a terrible idea!
A mother's soon forgotten pain,
along with loving efforts,
winds up with vague disdain,
in a teenage child's garden,
where unremembered lessons,
turn into major league rebellion,
for reasons that nobody understands,
... or ever wants to now remember,
of themselves when they recall,
when they were youngsters lost in hormones!
Still somehow, lack of wisdom,
makes them wag the index finger,
at their progeny...
with predictable results.
The only hope is that some teacher,
somewhere along the way,
casts the proper fertilizer,
and causes your wayward seed,
to be a bloom in the bright sunshine,
in the garden of humanity.

Time and Experience
I found the past in my present
I built the future on my past
I found the gift of today
When I thought about what
The future has to offer
Where is the wisdom in experience
If there is no folly in wisdom
What's the real meaning of death
If our spirits live forever
Times never change
But circumstances do
I'll let mystery play with the future
Surprises couple with the present
And experience mourn the past
Because sun always rises from the east
And each day always comes to an end
Experience is not chained to wisdom
Nor is folly tied to bad results
But to the circumstances that burden
Our past, present and future because
Time is always anxious for the future
Experience loves the present
And wisdom never divorces the past

Dictation Done
If there is anything experience teaches,
To those who have gone through that process...
With a final acceptance of lessons taught,
Is this...
No matter where one goes with an experienced life,
Achieved through the benefit of failure...
Sometimes repeated.
And lessons learned that have been taught.
Those who seek comprehension,
Will never find time to be bored.
And will one day discover their observations,
Are the ones that are eagerly sought!
Since so many others seem to be awaiting...
A school bell to ring and an announcement made,
That a thought one initiates should soon begin!
With a dictation done that has nothing to do,
To provide one with the tools to use common sense!

Wisdom
To properly bestow,
the gift of wisdom.
It must be offered up,
with no expectation of compensation.
Wisdom must be accepted,
with the sole intent.
It’s express goal,
all mortal’s existence, shall be enhanced.
Should the fruits of wisdom,
be harvested, dispersed,
and applied to the destruction
of the gift of life.
Then this produce shall sour,
and its bane.
Be redirected and envenom,
those who would desecrate this blessing.

When Fixed Mindsets Have Been Focused
Common sense is not obtained,
Through an academic process.
Not any that reflects wisdom respected,
By the many earning college degrees.
If experience could be taught,
And brought to a mind fixed on 'things'...
All of life and the quality of it,
Would have had witnessed the benefits of this.
But too busy are those in mental modes,
Driven to succeed and address their greed.
And when fixed mindsets have been focused,
On acquiring attention freed of comprehension...
There is no peace or rest to get if not earned.

Lessons Learned Over Time
Grapes ripe to pick and juicy when first licked,
Will always keep a taste sweet in one's mind.
As remembered lessons learned over time,
Are kept as one ages.
And the vine from which they were picked,
Remembered as if the only one to exist...
That committed an encouragement to nourish.

Chinese Wisdom
In crisis, wisdom growth,
And gained.
Intelligence endowed,
But wisdom is learned.
Wise men listen more,
Talk no nonsense.
Wise men may be learned
But learned men may not be wise.
A silent fool can pass for a wise man.
Silence is golden & wise,
Silence is the trusted friend of wisdom.
It is easy to blame our memory
when our judgment is at fault.
It takes a tree ten years to mature;
It takes a man one hundred years to form.
We grow old fast,
We grow wise slowly.
Youth can look only forward,
but age can also look backward.
Maturity and wisdom
take a lifetime to achieve.
Achieving maturity does not
Grow with age.
Wisdom grows when
Ones learned to avoid the wrongs.
Stand for the rights.
Biggest flaw of ones
Has a lot of flaws and
Not correcting them,
Not avoiding them.
Life is a learning journey
To discover who we are,
Learning as if life is
one continuous lesson.
Wisdom is attained by learning
when to hold one’s tongue.
Discretion is the trusted friend of wisdom.
A wise head must possess a closed mouth.

How We Learned Our Lessons
Through the living of their lives...
That's how we learned our lessons.
Through the observation of their sacrifices...
That's how we learned our lessons.
And we understood each one of them.
With our minds, eyes and ears opened.
Through the living of their lives...
That's how we learned our lessons.
Through the acceptance and loving ourselves.
That's how we learned our lessons.
Through the giving of respect,
We ourselves sometimes did not get!
That's how we learned our lessons.
And even though our steps made forward...
Were made to believe by others as limited.
And sometimes we wept and knew this was negative.
It was through the acceptance of who we were,
And loving ourselves.
That's how we learned our lessons.
And the parents we loved and had,
Did not brag about their college degrees!
Or 'things' with them we could buy to achieve...
To succeed in the repossessing of our minds,
Some permit an entry for this to be done!
They were with us all the time,
Telling us we could accomplish anything!
And could prove that too to ourselves and anyone.
'Whatever' it was we chose in our lives to do.
And working hard we did...
To pursue.
Through the living of their lives...
That's how we learned our lessons.
Through the observation of their sacrifices...
That's how we learned our lessons.
