As in a Pond
As in a pond that sleeps o'erhung by trees,
Two things at once in many a soul one sees :--
The sky, which points, the surface pure and calm,
With all its rays and clouds the heart to charm;
And then the depth, slime, hideous, dark, and dead,
Where foul black reptiles swarm, and vaguely tread.

She sleeps
She sleeps
~
She sleeps
her heart, soul at peace
she is as beautiful
as any painting by any artist
no brush has born such beauty
silence fills the walls
and the day is calm
my thoughts like trees
take deep roots
into the earth of my soul
unmoveable
mountains, stars and the sky
rise into an endless expanse
I wonder on her dreams
what places she sees
the weather and colours
the faces and events
unfolding
she sleeps
and I
I am moved
by her quiet beauty

Darkness Sets Upon Her
Dark as ebony, dark as night
Dark as the raven in mid flight
Dark as the grave doth her heart grow
Cold and silent as the dead of night
Oh sweet angel of mercy, sweet angel of light
Beckon to her before she takes flight
Speak ever so softly, breath life back into her soul
That she'll not tread life's pathway
A hollow, empty shell full of darkness so foul
That eats away at the radiant light
Which once from the windows of her soul did flow
For quickly doth darkness set upon her
Stealing away what little remains pure
Blackening her heart, blotting out the light
Nevermore to shine, cold and silent as the dead of night

Your mind is like water in a pond
Observe the water in a pond
Keep it still and particles will sediment to ground
Only then the surface becomes transparent and clear
Our reflections we can view without a blur
When wind blows and creates waves on the surface
Those sediments will be stirred up and make the water opaque
Then the water surface is no longer transparent and clear
And our reflections in it will become just blurs
Our mind is like water in that pond
Only when still and calm it can be clear and strong
If we let external forces disturb our still and calm mind
By those things we will be controlled and beguiled.

Among The Tombs
She is a lady fair and wise,
Her heart her counsel keeps,
And well she knows of time that flies
And tide that onward sweeps;
But still she sits with restless eyes
Where Memory sleeps---
Where Memory sleeps.
Ye that have heard the whispering dead
In every wind that creeps,
Or felt the stir that strains the lead
Beneath the mounded heaps,
Tread softly, ah! more softly tread
Where Memory sleeps---
Where Memory sleeps.

Dreams
Through the misty swirls of broken thoughts
I passed the waterfalls you named unshed tears
And saw the single ray of hope
Piercing through the shadows of dark
I walk through dreams that are still yours
Fear not, for I tread softly still
Through the fantasy in your mind
I slayed the monster you named hate
With the sword of eternal light
Forged in the fires of pure love
I walk through dreams that are still yours
Fear not, for I tread softly still
Through the kaleidoscope of feelings
I saw the colors you named emotions
Mysterious black of unknown depth
And piercing blue of tranquility
I walk through dreams that are still yours
Fear not, for I tread softly still
Through the plush grass of emerald green
I ran through the field that you named peace
And heard the distant roar of freedom
Followed by the hush of calm
I walk through dreams that are still yours
Fear not, for I tread softly still

Red
There are three colores,
Each a meaning,
in its own,
a little more important,
Than the rest.
White is calm, white is blank,
white is pure and white is clean,
white is the color of doves,
white is the color of here and there,
white is pure.
Black is dark, black is full,
Black is absent and black is stained,
Black is the color of night,
Black is the color of life and death,
Black is dark.
There is one other to say,
The one that flows within,
This color is not white,
but it is pure,
this color is not black,
But it is dark,
This color is all,
It is calm, it is blank,
It is dark, it is full,
both pure and stained,
clean and absent,
it is life it is death,
it is here and it is there,
this is the color,
of everything,
It is red.

Childhood Memories
Rays of light flow through the glass,
Flittering memories of the past.
Of happy times and playful things,
like a baby bird spreading its wings.
Flying through the sunlit air,
without worries without cares.
Its simple nature so soft and calm,
Beckons everyone like a charm.
A little fox running through the trees,
fields of flowers and their bees.
So close to heart and yet so far,
A child's life is like a shining star.
In The Garden
in the garden of roses and daffodils
spreading grass on the ground
some rocks and stones
and highlights of cypress trees
and above the blue clouds floating in space
the sun keeping its golden rays
and the wind going to and fro
like an invisible pendulum
i am with you
and we are here
let me tell you
we do not have to understand all these things
their chemistry and purpose
we are not called upon to dissect colors and segregate scents
that is far from what i really want
let me hold your hands and i will let them land on my shoulders
then to my heart
i will make you feel you the beatings of my soul
look into my eyes and be calm
we simply watch and admire all these beautiful things around us
there is no reason for fear
we have all the reasons for loving
let me guide you to the world of wonder
all seeing and feeling and oh! aren't all these amazing?

The Duck Pond
There's a pond at the centre of the village green,
Where ducks, moorhen and coot can be seen.
It's a feature which adds to the character and charm.
When sat by the pond, you feel a real sense of calm.
Pond-skaters and other small insects on the water skate:
The surface tension supporting their miniscule weight.
Waving their heads, the long, lush, green reeds,
Provide partial shelter for a fish as it feeds.
A frog pops its head up and looks around,
Then slips back under the water with a plopping sound.
Darting this way and that, are beautiful blue dragonflies:
Their motion so quick, they're gone in the blink of an eye.
There's sweet gallingale, marsh marigold and watercress,
But, for me, the pretty pink water lilies are by far the best.

From the Depth of Ethereal
Such heavenly beauty beyond my human reach,
but a lowly soul this world does 'seech.
Lost in a time of tragedy and flutter;
there is a pain-so utter.
The Epiphany came in an instant and blinded me,
from the fear and rage that I now see.
I lay there in torment as time now fall,
night is the victim to this nature's call.
A haunting of melody that will not dispel;
Souls in torment as their lore now tell.
A perfect light arises from the shadows realm below,
the hidden world so far away where thoughts unspoken go.
And from the depth of Ethereal, I could still hear her heart beating;
one after another, the dark clouds are fleeting.
The dreams are real and time stands still if only you believe,
all things that test reality; the visions fools and children see.
From the Depth of Ethereal came howls of former corporeal,
as a soft gentle breeze now makes my heart feel at ease.
The wails of the dead now brings forth shudders of dread;
but this one lowly soul, peace is all she said.

Your Dark Charm
How true are your ways
I'm amazed by your eyes
Dark brown and deep
Oh my mystery unwise
I can't sleep since we met
What is this you done to me
You ran off with my heart
With all this charm and glee
Your Dark Charm
To touch you I melt inside
Somehow you know what to do
These things you speak of
I my love never knew
When you hold me closely
There's some magic going on
Such fullfillment to my lips
I knew I wanted you all along
Your Dark Charm

Surface Calm
Surface calm enfolds
the hidden tiger
of repressed emotions
sleeplessly prowling
within the inner reaches
of the mind’s cave.
Surface calm here holds
attention – geiger
counting the ocean motions
of reactivity, radioactivity
tuned into the wave lengths
of the [he]art’s rave.
Surface calm explodes
upon the calm surface
of a sheet which enfolds
the hidden tiger of.....

In These Sessons
in the night where the moon shins my soul sleeps and my heart bets.
in the cold winther nights my soul sleeps and my heart crys out for your wormth.
in the hot summer days my soul awakes and my heart feeds for you heart of shade.
in the cool spring nights my soul sleeps and my heart bags for your soft sweet heart.
in the fall morings where the leaves fall my heart crys bags hurts for your key to your heart.
in these sessons my soul sleeps and awakes my heart bets crys bags and hurts for your heart to lay aganst my heart.

Dawning
it is dawning
gray wraps the trees and grass in black
as i walk along this boulevard
the light comes
thru the shutters of the clouds
this morning
rays like hands touch me
there is warmth
spreading on my face
there is fire
in my heart
i look at the stretch of
of acacia trees where the street lights
slowly close one by one
and at this moment
the years spread themselves
like some green grass
where i rest my weary soul
in my mind
i always remember you
on my side i can stll feel the warmth
of your skin
it simply dawned in me
the fire of yesterday
and the coldness was gone

On Tasso In Prison (Eugène Delacroix’s Painting)
The poet in his cell, unkempt and sick,
who crushes underfoot a manuscript,
measures, with a gaze that horror has inflamed,
the stair of madness where his soul was maimed.
The intoxicating laughter that fills his prison
with the absurd and the strange, swamps his reason.
Doubt surrounds him, and ridiculous fear,
hideous and multiform, circles near.
That genius pent up in a foul sty,
those spectres, those grimaces, the cries,
whirling, in a swarm, about his hair,
that dreamer, whom his lodging’s terrors bare,
such are your emblems, Soul, singer of songs obscure,
whom Reality suffocates behind four walls!

To John Ruskin
(After reading his 'Modern Painters')
YES, you do well to mock us, you
Who knew our bitter woe —
To jeer the false, deny the true
In us blind-struggling low,
While, on your pleasant place aloft
With flowers and clouds and streams,
At our black sweat and toil you scoffed
That marred your idle dreams.
'Oh, freedom, what was that to us,'
(You'd shout down to us there),
'Except the freedom foul, vicious,
From all of good and fair?
'Obedience, faith, truth, chivalry,
To us were empty names.' —
The like to you (might we reply)
Whose noisy life proclaims
Presumption, want of human love,
Impatience, filthy breath,
The snob in soul who looks above,
Trampling on what's beneath.
When did you strive, in nobler part,
With love and gentleness,
To help one soul, to win one heart
To joy and hope and peace?
Go to, vain Prophet, without faith
In God who maketh new,
With hankerings for this putrid death,
This flesh-feast of the few,
This social structure of red mud,
This edifice of slime,
Whose bricks are bones, whose mortar's blood,
Whose pinnacle is Crime! —
Go to, for we who strain our power
For light and warmth and scope,
For wives', for children's happier hour,
Can teach you faith and hope.
Hark to the shout of those who cleared
The Missionary Ridge!
Look on those dead who never feared
The battle's bloody bridge!
Watch the stern swarm at that last breach
March up that came not thence —
And learn Democracy can teach
Divine obedience.
Pass through that South at last brought low
Where loyal freemen live,
And learn Democracy knows how
To utterly forgive.
Come then, and take this free-given bread
Of us who've scarce enough;
Hush your proud lips, bow down your head
And worship Human Love!

Melodious Delight
Sweet notes which fill my ears with song,
And gently revolve around my head,
Propel my heart and soul along,
The way of happiness to tread.
With rhythmic steps I travel on,
Devouring melodious delight,
All senses keen, reality gone,
What moods these harmonies excite.
Like drifting off on clouds of white,
Leaving this world and all its woe,
As if one is a high evasive kite,
Launched by all the winds that blow.
Sweet notes which fill my ears with song,
Continue to enhance this charm,
As I, with hope, yearn to prolong,
Such true feelings of ambience, and calm.

‘Heart of Man’ as per The Bible
The heart within the chest just pumps the blood,
But ‘heart’ stands for mind’s functions entire,
Especially those deep and moral ones!
‘Heart’ stands for mental actions and feelings;
‘Heart’ represents the inner, real man –
His character influenced by divine.
Heart refers to all emotions and will;
And ‘conscience’ telling what is right from wrong;
Man’s duty prime is keep always heart pure.
Both good and bad arise from heart of man;
God sees man’s heart and knows its secrets all;
The heart can err unless properly trained!
The laws of God afill the righteous heart,
that stays afree of every sin and vice;
A foul, a mouth reflects corrupt, a heart!
Love God by heart, forgiving brother’s faults;
God judges man by seeing state of heart;
‘The pure of heart are blessed and shall see God! ’

Reptiles And Samurai
Reptiles and Samurais
Inhabit my head
Invading my dreams
Sleeping in my bed
They hear what I hear
Watching thru my eyes
They don't like what they see
Reptiles and Samurais
Are under my skin
They hide in my mind
They speak with my tongue
They run amuck in my terrain
They are not friends
But they are forces reluctantly
To share my brain
1ST BRIDGE
Reptiles have silly grins
Dark eyes--shiny teeth--some have fins
Samurais they smile never
Serious--pretty swords--very clever
CHORUS
Sometimes I watch you from this place way in the sky
Your faces young and shiny transform right before my eyes
To Samurais and lizards
reptiles and Samurais
Samurais and lizards
Reptiles and Samurais
Reptiles and Samurais
Inhabit my head
Invading my dreams
Sleeping in my bed
They battle but they never die
2ND BRIDGE
Reptiles have pretty scales
They run real fast--they like to bite--some have tails
Samurais like their water hot--very brave
They eat raw fish--they fight alot
CHORUS

Twilight In The North
O THE long northern twilight between the day and the night,
When the heat and the weariness of the world are ended quite:
When the hills grow dim as dreams, and the crystal river seems
Like that River of Life from out the Throne where the blessèd walk in white.
O the weird northern twilight, which is neither night nor day,
When the amber wake of the long-set sun still marks his western way:
And but one great golden star in the deep blue east afar
Warns of sleep, and dark, and midnight--of oblivion and decay.
O the calm northern twilight, when labor is all done,
And the birds in drowsy twitter have dropped silent one by one:
And nothing stirs or sighs in mountains, waters, skies,--
Earth sleeps--but her heart waketh, till the rising of the sun.
O the sweet, sweet twilight, just before the time of rest,
When the black clouds are driven away, and the stormy winds suppressed:
And the dead day smiles so bright, filling earth and heaven with light,--
You would think 't was dawn come back again--but the light is in the west.
O the grand solemn twilight, spreading peace from pole to pole!--
Ere the rains sweep o'er the hillsides, and the waters rise and roll,
In the lull and the calm, come, O angel with the palm--
In the still norther twilight, Azrael, take my soul.
