Festival of Diana
The exquisite evening
Draped in moonlight
Was perfect
For the festival of Diana.
She brought me wine
As the revelers sang
By the ecstatically laughing riverside.
On balconies,
Barely-clad girls
Danced to flicking candlelight
In bold aesthetic innocence.
There were offerings of sweet fruit
And fragrant flowers,
The girl I loved the most,
Her lips were tender
And her hair was wet
Caressing her shoulders
And inviting kisses.
I was in the hunt,
My prey, a woman’s eyes,
Mystical and alluring,
I was following them
Like an astrologer follows
Auspicious stars
Down along the seductive beach.
By the bon fire,
She asked me,
What was I staring at?
What was it I wanted?
What was it I needed?
I swam in those eyes
And smiled in her magical presence,
But this wasn’t the night to claim a goddess,
But I placed an amulet in her hand
And told her one day
I would have an answer for every question.

That set my soul aflame
Your hair was full of curls
in the candlelight as we danced,
and I felt your hot body
pressing caressing against mine
and your golden eyes sparkled
much brighter than the stars.
In the moonlight
every thing was magic
and your perfume
was enchanting as from
an ancient secret recipe
and you had me entranced,
with long sweet kisses
that set my soul aflame.

He Sits Beside Her
when he sits beside her
she knows what she wants
him
and she pretends that she is just
nothing but a girl
whose hands are too tiny and so fragile
and he of course
will be tender & gentle to any kind of girl like
her
but she is more than a girl now
that
he must know
she knows where to touch him
what weak spot
and tell him
you are sitting beside this
woman
he takes a look some more
her eyes are are inviting
not innocent
he begins to see the eyes
of the woman
he made love before
she wears the smell of a beautiful
full-grown woman
ready for any sweet seclusion
or inclusion shall i say
a seduction just to be exact in some ways
this physical smell
of warm flesh and smooth skin and luscious lips
of a woman
now she looks at him again
a lingering stare
ready to take him in
only if she understands
the changes in her taking place in this moment
in such a magical moment he does not see the same little girl
whose hands he thought
are innocent
and so fragile
he understands fully the begging hands of time
now the fruit is ripe for the picking
the tree is waiting

The Perfect Woman
She stands out elegantly tall
Staring you straight into your eyeball
She is a woman all girls want to be
She is the woman all girls want to see
With her display of motherly kindness
Exhibiting contemporary greatness
Her presence is a charm
Even her smile alone disarms
Her life paints only positive examples
Everyone frequently questions and samples
They all want to be like her
They all want to be a superstar
Her outstanding personality
Is more than just a female identity!
She is a woman all girls want to be
She is the woman all girls want to see
Some people say she is perfect
Others claim her to be an intellect
A role model she is to be correct
O! The lives of many she affects
She is quite plain and simple
Always out there for the people
She is one without flaws
Always abiding by the law
She is the perfect woman
All girls want to be
She is the perfect woman
All girls want to see

A Blinding Beauty
Stay still so I can admire your portraits
You gazed at me like an angel who will never wake up
Your eyes are blurred with messages and regrets
And your wet lips are warm, pumped up
Delicious and sweet.
Look at me again; I will not touch you
However, I will visualize your hair all over my thighs
And my eyes drowning in a world of fantasy
Your eyelids are extraordinary and smooth
And me momentarily in ecstasy.
The kisses that I want to lay on your cheeks
The irresistible melodies that I hear
You and me lying on the ashes here
Like two brutally murdered drunkards.
Your tongue is decorated with strawberries at springtime
Oh! Cupid, women are always colored
Like the folios that faded away with time
Oh! You are exquisite and well painted.
Let me dream, do not wake me up
Let me sleep in my imagination
Let me die in your seductive illumination
You are very chic in my dreams, you are my passion.
You are gentler than a rose
So sweet that you've become a pretty thing
The phantom that was staring
At me after the evening of debauch.

Little Girl So Fine
After the music had stopped
I still heard it playing
I moved a little closer to hear
The words she was saying
She said Ill never break your heart
Ill never try to fake it
My love is here for you
All you have to do is take it
Kisses sweeter than wine
My little girl so fine
The night seemed to say it was right
But could I believe her
My heart said, its time to go
But my eyes wouldnt leave her
Theres always somebody trying to break your heart
Somebody trying to take it
My little girl tried so hard
To help me make it
Kisses sweeter than wine
My little girl so fine
Oh, oh, oh, oh, sha la la
Oh, oh, sha la la
So fine
Oh, oh, oh, oh, sha la la
Oh, oh, sha la la
So fine
When we danced
I forgot everything and whispered
Hold me tight
Take a chance
On what tomorrow brings
Wont you be mine, be mine
Be mine tonight
We walked away laughing together
Into the night for ever and ever and ever
Now I know
Ill never break me babys heart
Ill never try to fake it
Ill give her all my love
All she has to do is take it
Kisses sweeter than wine
My little girl so fine
Kisses sweeter than wine
My little girl so fine
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Kisses sweeter than wine
My little girl so fine
Oh, oh, oh, oh, sha la la
Oh, oh, sha la la
So fine

A Light Seems to Shine
He loved me well ~ I loved him too
His melodies of love were all for me.
And into his arms I always flew
Whenever he smiled upon me.
We danced and danced the night away
In the moonlight before our wedding day.
Dancing belongs to the days of old,
The beautiful springtime before he died.
Without my 'Ken' the nights grew cold
Yearnings and longings multiplied.
I cried and I cried each night away
Recalling our beautiful wedding day.
With forty long years here in my heart
I am still his, and he is still mine.
We kept our vows 'Till death us do part'
And as I write, a light seems to shine
Inviting me to a life on cloud nine
A life of sweet music, roses and wine.

Rock & Roll Band
[false start]
We just sat there
[rock & roll band]
We just sat there
Never ever thinkin'
We'd get much older.
Layin' out on the beach
With our heads on each other's shoulder,
And we flagged the highway drivers down,
And get a ride to nowhere.
That means sit somewhere out of town,
We never ever had a care.
Wasn't that a time,
Yeah, so wasn't that a soul time.
Wasn't that a time,
Wasn't that a soul time.
And we stayed out all night long,
And never ever wanted to go home then.
Crossed the fields and streams,
In meadows we did roam then.
And we did not wanna question,
And never asked for why,
And we look back in sad remembrance
And we softly sigh.
And wasn't that a time,
Yes, wasn't that a soul time.
Wasn't that a time,
Yeah, wasn't that a soul time.
And we danced, we danced, we danced
To a rock & roll band.
And we danced, we danced, we danced, we danced
To a rock & roll band
With the three guitars
And the drums
And the saxophone.
And we just sat there on the beach
Never ever thinkin' we'd get much older.
So far out of reach
With our heads on each other's shoulder.
Flagged the highway drivers down,
And we get a lift to nowhere,
Somewhere out of town.
We never ever had a care.
Wasn't that a time,
Yeah, wasn't that a soul time.
Wasn't that a time,
Wasn't that a soul time,
When we danced, we danced, we danced
To a rock and roll band,
And we danced, we danced, we danced
To a rock and roll band
With the three guitars
And the drums
And the saxophone.

Wedding Cake Dance
A happy girl
And a happy man
She so happy to be with him
A pretty girl
With a pretty smile
A pretty man
With pretty eyes
He danced with her
Twirled her
They both laughed
Their minds raced with how pretty they were
Atop the wedding cake
They sat and spoke
Sipped on spirits in crystal
Perfectly square
The ice danced
Crisp noise against glass
With the music
Their pretty mouths moved
Then they smiled
He fed her something sweet
He wanted to know the taste of the prettiness that he saw
She wanted him to taste the sweetness
Until She felt it
In her hips
He licked the innocence
In one single kiss
Right off of her lips
She to blush
Next to smile
Then it was over after that

She smiled at me
At Lolly Jackson’s bar
she smiled at me
and as smiles goes,
her’s was teasing.
She smiled quite gay
and her eyes and lips
and exquisite body begged
to play.
In my inner soul
I started to pray
to keep this blonde temptation,
with her inviting boobs and hips
far away from me.
The energy of life
was bursting out,
with every step she took.
a Year later
I saw her in the street
and her thinning hair
and bony face,
reminded me of someone
from somewhere.
When she smiled
It was a ironic grin
and somehow,
I could still see
beauty in her eyes.
Her body was paper thin
and her blue eyes
were sunken in
and AIDS had taken her
to the verge of death.

Muse
The Muse who comes each morning
In rozy gauze is clad;
Her head is crowned with flowers,
Her eyes are clear and glad.
Upon her virgin bosom
Bloom lilies of white fire,
Her tender heart a rose is
Of delicate desire.
She is the gentle Goddess
Who rules the dreams of youth;
Her wonderful sweet stories
Are truer than the truth.
The Muse that comes at midnight,
When lamps of revel shine,
Her robe is laburnum,
All splashed with crimson wine.
Upon her head defiant,
She wears a vine-leaf crown,
And on her naked shoulders,
Her hair is hanging down.
And she at times is paler,
And paler than the dead -
But O her lips are burning,
And O her lips are red.
She lifts a brimming goblet,
She spills three drops on the floor -
'Drink deep and kiss your leman!
For Death is at the door.'
The gentle Muse of Morning
Comes now no more to me,
But with the Muse of Midnight
I revel royally.

Butterfly Kisses
There's two things I know for sure.
She was sent here from heaven, and shes daddys little girl.
As I drop to my knees by her bed at night,
She talks to Jesus, and I close my eyes.
And I thank God for all the joy in my life, But most of all...
Butterfly kisses after bedtime prayer.
Stickin little white flowers all up in her hair.
"Walk beside the pony daddy, its my first ride."
"I know the cake looks funny, daddy, but I sure tried."
Oh, with all that Ive done wrong, I must have done something right.
To deserve a hug every morning, and butterfly kisses at night.
Sweet sixteen today.
Shes looking like her momma a little more every day.
One part woman, the other part girl.
To perfume and makeup, from ribbons and curls.
Trying her wings in a great big world. But I remember...
Butterfly kisses after bedtime prayer.
Stickin little white flowers all up in her hair.
"You know how much I love you daddy, but if you dont mind,
Im only going to kiss you on cheek this time."
With all that Ive done wrong, I must have done something right.
To deserve a hug every morning, and butterfly kisses at night.
All the precise time.
Like the wind, the years go by.
Precious butterfly, spread your wings and fly.
Shell change her name today.
Shell make a promise, and Ill give her away.
Standing in the bride room just staring at her.
She asked me what Im thinking, and I said, "Im not sure,
I just feel like Im losing my baby girl."
Then she leaned over... and gave me...
Butterfly kisses, with her mama there.
Stickin little white flowers all up in her hair.
"Walk me down the aisle daddy, its just about time."
"Does my wedding gown look pretty daddy?" "Daddy dont cry."
With all that Ive done wrong, I must have done something right.
To deserve a hug every morning, and butterfly kisses.
I couldnt ask God for more, man, this is what love is.
I know Ive gotta let her go, but Ill always remember.
Every hug in the morning, and butterfly kisses...

The Rationale
once,
I told you I believed in fairy tales,
in Pinocchio and blue fairy
you had that quizzical look as you asked me why
then you smiled at my answer
I said my life was blue and it had changed when I met you
you were surprised, speechless..
but you still managed to ask me why
ditto! and you affirmed to me that our feelings were mutual
I told you nine years from now, I'll leave this world
you said it was crazy
and asked me why
as you whispered to me the hopeful words of life
once, I told you these things
and each was followed by your naïve question: why?
that's why when I told you ‘I love you'
the word came ringing into my ears,
‘why? '
why?
why does the sun still rise and inspire me every morning
and why do leaves sway and whisper the melody of the wind?
why?
perhaps, because of your eyes
because of those tiny luminous orbs of innocent charm
that seemed to be one magical cosmos
still, ethereal, misty as they smiled
why?
why does my sky have starry nights
and why can its vanity lull me into dreams of infinite desires?
why?
maybe, because of your smile
because of that magical curve of your lips
that gentle crack on your face - the sweet threshold of my fantasy
once,
I tried to tell you these things
I tried to answer your whys
I tried but those whys cannot be answered
I told you that ‘I love you' and you asked me why
but why?
why?
perhaps, because I've met you
you've known my heart best that no one else could
you've found me and brought me back visible to the world
and perhaps, because you once cared for me
maybe, because you've given me a soul
you've filled in the vacuous space of my puzzle
and you've shared your heart with me
you've warmed me against the wooden chills of my solitude
and cut the strings that tied me to my primitive desires
but why?
why the leaves hushed suddenly and stopped dancing
and clouds frowned
and needles fell down from the mourning sky
and cut into my skin coldly, deep down to my heart
unbearably yet I felt no pain?
why can't I cry?
perhaps, because the rain must amuse me but it didn't
it's not a tear of that joyful innocence I used to see in your eyes
not anymore
it's only another muffled sob of cold unknowing and forgetting
but why?
why those colors that once arched brightly - that visible spectrum
- lost its brilliance, stained with rusty indifference
and now cut like a murderer's knife in mid-air?
why?
perhaps, because I love you
and it's quite unbelievable like the lines and the verses I wrote for you
maybe, because it's only one ideal concept like my theories and stories
and perhaps, because it's not true just like those fairy tales we believed in
why?
you're asking me why I love you?
I'm afraid I can't tell you why
it's not that because I don't know the answer
but because you already knew
I always know you know
why?
because I love you…
but you never saw it coming.

Evening Ramble
As evening shadows fall
And stars begin to shine
We walk hand in hand
Under a moon that’s divine
The creatures of the night
Scamper to and fro
They will stop for a moment
As their eyes reflect the light
We walk through a wonderland
On our ramble as we go
Our hearts beat as one
In the stillness, don’t you know
Here on a warm summer night
Its not only the stars that shine bright
Flowers fill the air
With a fragrant perfume
And love is everywhere
It fills the heart with peace and joy
For every man, woman, girl and boy

Moonlight Eyes
Moonlight eyes I see you smile
It lightens up my night
Your smile takes all the fight out of me
Moonlight eyes I hear you cryin
It robs me of my pride
Theres nothing I can hide from moonlight eyes
I got no control
You just roll me like the sea
Oh moonlight eyes
Mooonlight eyes youre grown now
Ill soon be out of touch
Youll lose that innocence
That cost so much
Moonlight eyes youll find your pain
Youll say that Im all wrong
Therell always be a place where you belong
I got no control
You just roll me like the sea
Oh moonlight eyes
Tell your sweet lies only to me, only to me
Moonlight eyes you soothe me
Moonlight eyes youre easy on my soul
Moonlight eyes you are the reason
The meaning in the words
The words to every song Ive ever heard
Paralysed in sweet surprise
Your every wrong is right
One look into your night
Oh moonlight eyes
I got no control
You just roll me like the sea
Oh moonlight eyes
Tell your sweet lies only to me, only to me
Moonlight eyes.

I Will Try
I will try
To dance for you as once I danced
Barefoot in the heavy summer night
In the heart of the Bamangwato lands
And I will try
To sing for you as once I sang
Blue cap shading my eyes, guitar in hand
For the stars by the Thamalakane banks
I will do my best
To long for you as once I sent
My longing out from salt-crusted rocks
Into the heart of Cape Verdian winds
I will try again
To write for you, as I once composed
Words of the deep self, bubbling up
From mystical wells that water the soul
I will do what I can
To be the man who once was young
Who dreamed so free and loved so strong
Because you have brought me to love again.

Romantic Dinner In The Candlelight
Holding hands at sunset we are walking on the beach,
We stop and sit on sand the sunset to see,
Your arms wrapped me in a warm embrace,
And I did put my head on your chest.
I could hear your heart beating fast,
Mixing with the music of waves and the seagulls flying around,
As u took my hands into yours, my eyes meet your eyes,
In the silence of night my heart belong to you tonight.
We have there our dinner waiting on sand,
We have candlelight all around,
We are living an unique moment in time,
You and i and our special love.
For us time doesn't exists and stood still,
We have each other and this is our dream,
We eat and sip from red wine,
And you put a red rose in my hair with love.
You told me how beautiful i am tonight,
Like a princess from fairy tales i felt,
I smiled with glow and passionately kissed you,
"Hold me in your arms and never let me go", i asked you.
We listen music and dancing in the moonlight,
I let my body following your steps,
I feel like i am flying, i don't touch the sand,
When i' m with you i feel as like i touch the sky.
We are laying on the sand and watch the starry sky,
It is so wonderful, because we are together,
I wish that everyday of my life to watch with you the sky,
And have so many romantic dinners in the candlelight.

No One Has Loved You Like I Do
Leaves blow around on the autumn streets,
The air is brisk but filled with romance
Like a lover whispering secrets to his lady
And breathing softly upon her neck.
Walking in the park you asked me,
“Is love real and does it only come once? ”
I told you, “For some, it never arrives,
For some, it never survives,
But I’m holding your hand now
And will hold it for eternity.”
No one has loved you like I do,
Kissing your breasts in the candlelight,
Caressing your shoulders in the shimmering night,
Gently laying your skirt at the foot of the bed.

Tangiers 1970
The Mediterranean Sea
caught the moonlight
as you wandered the beach
with Mame
she grabbed your hand
and kissed your cheek
isn't it out of this world?
she said stopping
and looking into your eyes
and breathing out
her peppermint breath
you smelt the sea salt
felt the slight breeze
coming across the sea
wouldn't you rather be
with one of the other guys
than be here with me?
you said
gazing at her fuzzy hair
her light blue eyes
oh piss the other guys
it's you I like
she said
brushing a hand
through your hair
pulling you in closer
to her small tight breasts
don't you like me?
she asked
I thought you fancied me
the way you kept staring at me
on the coach and in Tangiers
you heard the Berber drums
and voices from the camp base
coming on the wind
and wondered if the others
would guess she'd taken you
down the beach
for something romantic
or tumble in the sands
with all lips and hands
well?
she asked
standing there
in her flowered
two piece bathing cloth
sure I do
you muttered
sensing her hand
reaching down
your jeans
seeking an erection
a sign of interest
do you ever think
of those ancients
who may once
have stood
where we now stand?
you said
how they too
may have stood
beneath a sky
and stars
and moon like us?
she stood back and stared
and uttered coldly
no I haven't
and couldn't give a cuss
and off she went
up the beach
to the base camp
on smooth sands
and rough tufts of grass
and oh how she knew
to wiggle
her small tight ass.

In the Orchard
'I thought you loved me.' 'No, it was only fun.'
'When we stood there, closer than all?' 'Well, the harvest moon
Was shining and queer in your hair, and it turned my head.'
'That made you?' 'Yes.' 'Just the moon and the light it made
Under the tree?' 'Well, your mouth, too.' 'Yes, my mouth?'
'And the quiet there that sang like the drum in the booth.
You shouldn't have danced like that.' 'Like what?' 'So close,
Whith your head turned up, and the flower in your hair, a rose
That smelt all warm.' 'I loved you. I thought you knew
I wouldn't have danced like that with any but you.'
'I didn't know, I thought you knew it was fun.'
'I thought it was love you meant.' 'Well, it's done.' 'Yes, it's done.
I've seen boys stone a blackbird, and watched them drown
A kitten... it clawed at the reeds, and they pushed it down
Into the pool while it screamed. Is that fun, too?'
'Well, boys are like that... Your brothers...' 'Yes, I know.
But you, so lovely and strong! Not you! Not you!'
'They don't understand it's cruel. It's only a game.'
'And are girls fun, too?' 'No, still in a way it's the same.
It's queer and lovely to have a girl...' 'Go on.'
'It makes you mad for a bit to feel she's your own,
And you laugh and kiss her, and maybe you give her a ring,
But it's only in fun.' 'But I gave you everything.'
'Well, you shouldn't have done it. You know what a fellow thinks
When a girl does that.' 'Yes, he talks of her over his drinks
And calles her a--' 'Stop that now, I thought you knew.'
'But it wasn't with anyone else. It was only you.'
'How did I know? I thought you wanted it too.
I thought you were like the rest. Well, what's to be done?'
'To be done' 'Is it all right?' 'Yes.' 'Sure?' 'Yes, but why?'
'I don't know, I thought you where going to cry.
You said you had something to tell me.' 'Yes, I know.
It wasn't anything relly... I think I'll go.'
'Yes, it's late. There's thunder about, a drop of rain
Fell on my hand in the dark. I'll see you again
At the dance next week. You're sure that everything's right?'
'Yes,' 'Well, I'll be going.' 'Kiss me...' 'Good night.' ... 'Good night.'
