Boredom is in the mind, throw it in the gutter
The day seemed boring
Dull and dreary
I tried reading
Kept the book on the side
After a while
I tried gardening
That wasn’t enjoying
I kept cursing
That didn’t help
Passing time
Became challenging
Irritability increasing
Decided to visit the river nearby
Sat on a bench
To view the flowing water
Sitting on the bench next to mine
Sat an elderly couple
Throwing pebbles in the water
Laughing and giggling
Comparing who threw farthest
After some time
They got up from there
I could see they could hardly walk
Very slowly they inched forward
I ran to help them

They thanked me for my help
Asked, why I was there?
At the time

We flew into town on sunday, had to find a place by monday
Tried bridgeport and westport, til we found a place that we thought would do
157 riverside avenue.
Saugatuck rivers flowin, mother natures colors were showin
So cold, so rainy, we couldnt help feelin blue
Not enough time, too many things to do.
We met a young girl on main street, wanted to just pass her by
She was homely, so lonely, she said, can I make love to you.
We shouted 157 riverside avenue.
Its over, miss lena, were leaving. such a pleasant stay, I must say.
So nice, so easy, we hate to say goodbye to you

I Hope
I hope when I take my final breath
it will be in my dreams.
In the country places I used to go,
the woods, meadows and streams.
The summer day is bright and sunny
a light warm breeze cuts the air.
Rippling water echoes against the river bank
as it flows over rocks and long green hair.
I see my parents are sitting close by
on a blanket by the riverside.
My sister and brothers play in the shallows
splashing, and chanting nursery rhymes.
My daughter and sons are also there,
and my grandchildren too.
Everything is like a bygone Sunday afternoon,
so peaceful a memory to take with you.

Familiarity For M'lady Ann
The river as it flows on by.
Softly sings us a lullaby
Our cottage built of weathered stone
sits by the riverside alone.
Here where we raised our family
we are still living happily
Al though the family have flown
and now have children of their own.
The house was here before we wed
and will be here when we are dead
But until then we’re satisfied
to live beside the riverside
and listen to the lullaby
the river sings as it flows by.

The Riverside
The river was flowing unceasingly.
On the bank sat a little girl
with a rose in her hand.
Lovely thoughts flooded her mind
of how she and her mother
used to come to the riverside
to wash their clothes.
The little girl always loved to
splash in the water, and at times
she knotted her fishing rod
and was busy fishing.
When the mother finished her washing,
both she and the little girl
would walk side by side,
the child with her fishing net
and a catch of fish,
and the mother with the
newly-washed clothes.
Memories came in one by one,
as the shore was deserted.
She drew so many pictures
in the sand, thinking about
her mother sitting in heaven
beside the loving Saviour.
