Canines in Love
Two dogs in the rain
Stray down midnight boulevards
Hungry beside trash cans,
But looking both ways
Before they cross the street,
You have to watch out for each other
In this cruel world of broken homes,
Any moment you might be penniless and alone,
Hold onto your pirate’s sleeves,
You’ll need each other
When you encounter angry seas,
Love is all you have
When your hopes and resources
Have become tattered rags.

Stray dogs
Here and there and everywhere
Stray dogs doing business
And barkedup wrongtrees
And spoiled the working
Environments.
Stray dogs have no
Commonsense not true
Stray dogs encounter
The alien.
Stray dogs safeguard
The interest
And ensure to make
The area clean.
Stray dogs welcome
Common mass
Stray dogs do not like
Corrupt class.
Stray dogs can only think
The morrows
Stray dogs have practical

You know I know all know.

The Day After Greed
walking the greying streets,
between the broken down
and vacant buildings....
through the alleyways..
concrete graveyards...
the hint of smoke hangs
in the air.... the stain of soot,
the taste of death... lingers....
i closed my eyes and saw
the bodies... strewn in the street
like trash blown against a fence...
eyes wild, faces contorted, ...
death, and it's brothers and sisters...
storefronts dark and ominous,
gas pumps stand alone like angry
sores, oozing into the emptiness.
great black birds fly, casting shadows
that search for tiny particles of light....
stray dogs roam in packs,
hungry for flesh!
only the sound of the great
oil rigs pumping in the distance....
an old tattered flag blown
by a cold infidel wind!

Rags & Old Iron
Norman curtis, oscar brown jr
Rags old iron rags old iron
All he was buying was just rags and old iron
I heard that old rag man now making his rounds
He came right to my alley lord with sorrowful sounds
Crying rags old iron and pulling his cart
Ask him how much hed give me for my broken heart
Rags old iron rags old iron
All he was buying was just rags and old iron
So I asked that old rag man how much he would pay
For a heart that was broken baby when you went away
For a burnt out old love light that no longer beams
And a couple of slightly used second hand dreams
Rags old iron rags old iron
All he was buying was just rags and old iron
For those big empty promises you used to make
For those memories of you that are no longer sweet
I wish he could haul them off down the street
Rags old iron rags old iron
All he was buying was just rags and old iron
When love doesnt last tell me what is it worth
It was once mamas most precious possession on earth
When I asked that old rag man if hed like to buy
He just shook his head and continued to cry
Rags old iron rags old iron
All he was buying was just rags and old iron
Rags old iron rags old iron
Rags old iron rags old iron rags old iron

I Love Trash
Refrain] Oh, I love trash!
Anything dirty or dingy or dusty
Anything ragged or rotten or rusty
Yes, I love trash
I have here a sneaker that's tattered and worn
It's all full of holes and the laces are torn
A gift from my mother the day I was born
I love it because it's trash
[Refrain]
I have here some newspaper thirteen months old
I've wrapped some fish inside it, it's smelly and cold
But I wouldn't trade it for a big pot o' gold
I love it because it's trash
[Refrain]
I've a clock that won't work, and an old telephone
A broken umbrella, a rusty trombone
And I am delighted to call them my own
I love them because they're trash
[Refrain, ending with]...Yes, I love, I love, I love trash

Bring The Beat Back
Black rain falling on me
Black rain is all that I see
Black rain colours the sand
Too fast I don't understand
False prophets talking about our life our destiny
Rain forest still alive sounds like a joke an irony
The air smells dirty we can all see pollution
To heal the world is not a game or an illusion
We see the world hunger not enough to eat
We close our eyes walking through the lonely streets
Strange disease there's nothing there's no cure
Cancer aids and much more we know for sure
Should we stay or run away
That's the price we have to pay
And then before we fade to grey
The message is love
The message is love
Should we stay or run away
That's the price we have to pay
And then before we fade to grey
The message is love
The message is love
Sometimes we get angry there's no focus in our life
When people get hungry they gonna learn how to survive
Homeless people concealed in the street
With no hopes and no dreams with no shoes for their feet
How many guns they have to melt they have to burn
Return to good sense when will we ever learn
Fighting this freedom for everyone for you and me
I know that this world is the place for us to be
Black rain made out of steam
Black rain to the extreme
Black rain what can we do
Too fast a nightmare comes true
Should we stay or run away
That's the price we have to pay
And then before we fade to grey
The message is love
The message is love
Should we stay or run away
That's the price we have to pay
And then before we fade to grey
The message is love
The message is love
The message is love

Them Belly Full
Na-na na na-na na na na;
Na-na na na-na na na na;
Na-na na na-na na na na;
Na-na na na-na na na na.
Them belly full, but we hungry;
A hungry mob is a angry mob.
A rain a-fall, but the dirt it tough;
A yot a-yook, but d' yood no 'nough.
You're gonna dance to jah music, dance;
We're gonna dance to jah music, dance, oh-ooh!
Forget your troubles and dance!
Forget your sorrows and dance!
Forget your sickness and dance!
Forget your weakness and dance!
Cost of livin' gets so high,
Rich and poor they start to cry:
Now the weak must get strong;
They say, "oh, what a tribulation!"
Them belly full, but we hungry;
A hungry mob is a angry mob.
A rain a-fall, but the dirt it tough;
A pot a-yook, but d' yood* no 'nough.
We're gonna chuck to jah music - chuckin';
We're chuckin' to jah music - we're chuckin'.

A rain a-fall, but the dirt it tough;

Cruel Joke
Love
Just a cruel joke
One wrought with depression and pain
Though it's a lie that we tell
Over and over again
Within our sight
But just out of reach
We speak of it's joy
A feeling to embrace
Never knowing that one
Just one to many mistakes
Will knock down the home
And the foundation will shake
The warmth, of love, will escape
While the ice cold rain, of reality
Comes rushing in
Inside, crushed dreams
Dead hopes and one broken shattered heart
While outside
The grim reaper of consequence
Dumps one another
And another shovel again
Love
A cruel joke
I should say not
Love
A delicate balancing act
When not done right
Is just cruel

Really Love The Rain
I really love the rain, I really love the rain,
cast your clouds, hide us from it all, wash away these stains
it's my gift, it's my present, I’d spend an hour walking in it's presence.
It's exactly how I feel man, it's exactly how I feel Ya...,
I really love the rain man…, I really love the rain ya....
I spent all day at work now I’ll spend all night in bed, so
I can get up and do it again cause, I really need that rent cause,
I really need that bread cause, I’m tired of going hungry. I’m
tired of needing help, I just want to live a moment for myself.
As selfish as that seems, I just really need that moment
so I can see my options clearly. So I hope the sky's not clearing,
cause I really love the rain man…
I really love the rain ya…, I really love the rain-
a little shower to calm my mind, a gentle mist and a slight
Breeze, bit of dew drips off the trees.
puddles form but not to your knees, no ones missing
no one bleeds. it's exactly how I feel man.., it's exactly how I feel
ya..., I really love the rain man…, I really love the rain ya...
For my anger there's a storm, let the lightning crash and burn.
There's my hatred, there's my rage, there's no way I could turn the page.
Stumbling in my clumsy ways, I’d probably set the book a blaze.
Let it rain oh, let it rain, show all my emotions, empty all my pain.
Man I really love the rain ya..., I really love the rain.
Its my drug it makes my day, like a pill I’d pop all day.
Run and jump and laugh and play, I’ll stay and dance don't go away.
Man I really love the rain ya..., I really love the rain.
Its my drug it makes my day, like a pill I’d pop all day.
I sit and cry and wonder why, who I am or why I’m here?
man this life just isn’t fair, but at least I have the rain.
it's exactly how I feel man..., it's exactly how I feel ya…,
I really love the rain man..., I really love the rain ya...,

What About A Holiday
(carly simon)
What about a holiday, just the eight of us
You and me and all the stones
Wouldnt want to leave them out
Couldnt find a nice bunch
But you cant expect them to
Navigate the boulevards on their own
Those sweet rolling stones
Gosh, we better go hold their hands
While they cross the street

Baby Bird Explodes
Plastic and glass
all make trash
Trash on the streets
for birds to eat
Little birds that mother bird feeds
yes, this is happening in our seas
Mother birds feeds from her nest
plastic that gets caught in their food
not knowing it’s in the goo
Can we prevent this from getting to sea?
Pick up trash on the street or beach?
Best way to have a planet where
people are kind and smart
they put trash
in the right compartment

The President of my Village Panchayat
“ They don’t allow me to speak the truth’,
the President of my village Panchayat said
and looked up at the strange guests.
“ You’ve killed some stray dogs
and flashed the news across the Media.
We are from the Blue Cross”,
the guests cried and sat.
“ Blue Cross, Red Cross, Holy Cross…
I don’t know read English dailies.
But the newspapers and T.V. channels in Tamil
have extolled me for spending from my pockets
to hire some dog catchers to catch
the canines with the noose after a chase
and club them to death with steel rods.
My innovative steps to kill these useless dogs
have panned out well. My minions
strangled some sick pubs last year
and gave a decent burial on that river’s bank
but the reporters failed to laud my service”,
Our President a rich but an innocent farmer,
studied fifth class spoke aloud and ended with:
“ They don’t allow me to speak the truth”.
“ Oh, you overstep the limits;
You ‘re cruel to animals.
We have to call the police to nab you”,
the Blue Cross officials said with an angry face.
Sensing some rebuke, the president
ordered for some snacks and cool drinks
and recanted what he said:
“Those things happened in a Panchayat nearby.
I rear cats and dogs at home.
One dog has bites incurable on its body”,
with a tinge of pity on his face.
“ Keeping a sick dog is punishable”,
the officers blared and thumped on the table.
“ I don’t eat the flesh of dogs
as people do in the city.
For family pets I have more pity.
But they don’t allow me to be gritty in speaking truth”,
he smiled and bundled them out.

To Write Truthfully About The Rain
i must be here when the rain falls
heavily and when the waters rise
above canals and manholes
where what i see is water everywhere
when the rain does not stop
i must cross this street to another
street taking the middle of this flooded ways
without an umbrella
without my clothes on
the rain falls in all freedom
to the pores of my body
penetrating the thickness of my hair
my mouth drinks its drops
my ears take some more
i may be blinded and even be deaf
let the rain fall freely & heavily on my body
only then can i truthfully write about this rain
this walk this wetness this freedom this oneness
on the world that cries on these drops these tears

Charming and Lovely Feet
People weep in a sad dying city
In staggering discontent;
There is despair along the boulevards
Of limitless regrets;
There is no melodic voice in this birdless world
To provide consolation.
Romance has vanished
And perfumed handkerchiefs discarded;
Roses fade beside trash cans in the alley.
The promises I’ve made
Have becomes consonantal notes
In an opera of defeat.
I’ll have to remove my memories of her
As casually as she removed the sandals
From her charming and lovely feet.
These are days of vanquished retreat
And I have learned my place
Among the hapless and insignificant.

Freeway Time In La County Jail
On the freeway in the county, the sun dont shine
I feel, I feel, I feel, I feel a bati man
Outside my cell, deputies creep
And in this cell, all I do is sleep
And I dream that Im free
And Im back on the reef where I throw my net out into the sea
All the fine heinas come swimmin to me
They hold me and they promise me things
And when the tides high I cry like a little baby
Dont give me no right kinda love
No sunday mornin
Dont want no puppy lovin

Yes theyre steady on the phone
Ill be damned if the man with the shank in his hand

As If... (You Never Owned A Thing!)
if you listen at night,
the trash in the alleys comes alive.
there is a whispering
that fills the cardboard boxes.
the cans and bottles play
an unearthly music.
and vacant houses talk to god,
or perhaps the demons of poverty.
the wind stops blowing,
and the stink hangs like a cloud...
the evidence of blind excess!
the bodies of the nameless ones,
rise from the filth of forgotten.
the rats join ranks with stray dogs,
and testify against your indulgence!
soon, probably sooner than you think,
your eyes will be covered with dirt.
and the worms will take what you have hoarded,
as if you never owned a thing!

Under The Sun
It used to rain
Dreary and grey
Most every day
But not any more
We come out of our homes
We lie down
Under the cloud that never comes
We roll in the radiation
And we make love
Under the sun
Under the sun
The polar ice is melting
suits me fine
We go to the beach on the northern line
We watch the sea
Comin up the street
Under the sun
Under the sun
It used to rain
Dreary and grey
Most every day
But not any more
We take off our clothes
And have some fun
Under the sun
Under the sun

Love Let Go
Since I heard the whistle
Of a mournful midnight train
Sing a little duet
With a siren in the rain
The sang about true love
Between the damned and the devout
And right then for a moment
The fire in me blew out
And for a moment I felt my shackled heart unchained
It was right then... instant liberation
It was not long... but I was set free
It was release... for a moment love let go of me
Once I saw the moon rise
As the sun climbed into bed
They both shone on each other
'Til the sun blushed ruby red
And then a pair of swallows
Silhouetted cross its face
And my heart pirouetted
Through the twilight with their grace
And for a moment I was not a prisoner of love
It was right then... a little liberation
It was so quick... but I was set free
It was release... for a moment love let go of me

Rags To Riches
(words & music by adler - ross)
I know Id go from rags to riches
If you would only say you cared
And though my pockets may be empty
Id be a millionaire
My clothes may still be torn and tattered
But in my heart Id be a king
Your love is all that ever mattered
Its everything
So open your arms and youll open the door
To all the treasure that Im living for
Hold me and kiss me and tell me youre mine evermore
Must I forever stay a beggar
Whose golden dreams will not come true
Or will I go from rags to riches
My fate is up to you

On The Porch
As I lie roofed in, screened in,
From the pattering rain,
The summer rain—
As I lie
Snug and dry,
And hear the birds complain:
Oh, billow on billow,
Oh, roar on roar,
Over me wash
The seas of war.
Over me—down—down—
Lunges and plunges
The huge gun with its one blind eye,
The armored train,
And, swooping out of the sky,
The aeroplane.
Down—down—
The army proudly swinging
Under gay flags,
The glorious dead heaped up like rags,
A church with bronze bells ringing,
A city all towers,
Gardens of lovers and flowers,
The round world swinging
In the light of the sun:
All broken, undone,
All down—under
Black surges of thunder …
Oh, billow on billow
Oh, roar on roar,
Over me wash
The seas of war …
As I lie roofed in, screened in,
From the pattering rain,
The summer rain—
As I lie
Snug and dry,
And hear the birds complain.

Love and Hope
In the frosty of an ancient first light
That lazily lingers on;
Love, will give you hopes
In the middle of an intense storm
That trees you tattered and worn;
Love, will give you hopes
Even while your tears fall like rain
And your sour soul screams aloud
And you believe there's not anything missing to gain
As you walk lost in a crowd…
Love, will give you hopes.
When your heart begins to break
And you think, "No more can I take, "
Love, will give you hopes..
When need outweighs your means
And you have not anything left but dreams;
Love, will give you hopes.
Even while your tears fall like rain
And your sour soul screams aloud
And you feel there's not anything left to gain
As you walk lost in a crowd…
Love, will give you hopes
